But Bob set up an appointment for the day after our phone call, arrived on time, and proceeded to fix the problem. Called them on a Friday, she confirmed they service Newbury- made appointment for the next Wednesday at 1pm. On Wednesday morning I cleaned the mower and snowblower (after pulling the dead mower across a big yard to a clean patio), WD-40 to all the bolts. At 12:45, Bob calls me and says "we don't go to Newbury", I said I'll pay extra for travel, heard silence - then "call failed". I called back, sent 4 emails, no response. NO APOLOGY. Said snow blower was too big and he was not going to replace the belt on it. I've used them several times. They have always been responsive and have done a great job fixing and servicing my lawn equipment.

Made appointment (2 week wait time, which seemed pretty reasonable), gave model number. Confirmed appt a day or 2 later, told them part they would need to bring. On day of appointment they didn't show up, and when I called they said they do not service my (Cub Cadet) Mower. 2 weeks of lawn growing without mowing, and now starting all over. read more

If i could give zero stars i would. I set an appointment for a Monday. Waited all day Monday just for them to tell me the appointment was for next Monday. Which it was not. But i said okay now Monday comes around again i cleared my schedule because they said it could be anytime during the day that they come to fix my mower... it's 2pm i call and ask if they were still coming. They say yes. Then i call at 4:30 and ask if they are still coming. They say they couldn't find the house (which isn't hard to find)... and they told me they aren't coming now. Worst. Service. Ever. After seeing their van in a neighbors yard. I thought I would call to see if they could fix my snowblower. They explained the nature of traveling repair service and the time would be fluid-okay. They would have someone call. I made the appt 2 weeks out for 2 pm. When no one called or appeared I called them at 220pm. Immediately took my name and address. Then put me on hold for 20 minutes. They told me I should not have been given a time rather early morning, late morning early afternoon or late afternoon. Placed on hold again told I was scheduled but Bob couldn't make it today. Called the mower shop about my Ariens snowblower - I could no longer get it to start up. They setup an appointment and told me up front that there would be a $65 charge just to come out and look at it - no problem - I don't have to borrow a truck and lung the heavy thing down there. The convenience of having the work done at home is huge. On the day of the appt, Bob showed up on time, was very polite resolved the issue within an hour at a very reasonable cost. Definitely one of the rudest customer service experiences I've ever had. I'm not even one to even post about this but it was so bad I would want to prevent others from having the same experience. So we just bought our lawn mower off of our friend and got it tuned up by someone else prior to Bob showing up but there was something still wrong with it. It wasn't turning over. I explained to Bob that we brought it to someone else prior and he kept saying to me "why dont' you bring it back to that guy so its not my problem". I proceeded to tell him that in order to do that we would have to rent a trailer because the guys shop is a little ways for us. Plus we're giving them business so I don't know why he would even say that. He checked it out and told me that it was a dead battery I said "ok do you have a new battery on hand that you can put in" and he said "he wasn't going to do it and that something was telling him to run". I said ok well if thats the solution I would want him to just put it in that way it can be fixed and I dont mind the cost. He went back to his car mumbling under his breath talking to himself and i was just thinking to myself whats up with this guy. He comes back starts putting the battery in and I started to call my husband just to make sure that all our bases are covered and something doesn't come up again. So I call him and as my husbands talking he just walks away and says he doesn't want to hear it. At this point I'm so confused. He comes back and I ask him did I do something to upset you? You're coming off like I offended you and he said that he's wasting his time with me and that hes doing someone elses work that could of been done by the first guy that fixed it. I said ok but I explained that its just easier if you can fix it since you make house calls rather than renting a trailer. He just looked at me and didnt say anything. I said ok well I'll just let you do your work let me know if you need anything. He says yup Bye!. When he finishes he comes to my door and tells me the price. I ask for the invoice he tells me he doesnt do invoices but he'll text me my receipt. I said ok I give him my card and told him ok so everythings all set? He said ya go start it if you dont beleive me. I said nope I believe you youre the professional. I told him that my neighbor was actually the person that recommended him and he told me he didnt know her. So i was like ok well have a nice day and he gets in his car and speeds off. All of this just happened. He just left my house and I'm still thinking to myself did I say something wrong. I understand people have bad days but why was he so rude. I called and was scheduled for an appointment within a week. What makes this service above all others is that he comes right to the house! No need to find a friend to borrow a truck to bring my snowblower anywhere. Last year I had some problems towards the end of the season (Boy we had a lot of snow!) but still packed it away for the summer. During the appointment setting, I was able to let them know it was out in the shed and when I poked outside, Bob already started working on it. One of the belts were worn so he was able to replace it for me and also give it a full tip-top tuneup. I haven't had to use my blower yet, but it was purring when we shut her down. If you are looking for the convenience of the service, a really good guy who knows his ways around machines and a way to support local businesses, you should give Bob a try! read more

While it wasn't the result I hoped for, Bob was personable throughout our short time and didn't charge me. I was having issues with my snowblower and made an appointment. [Engine was running fine, but the auger was getting very little power.] The "diagnosis" was that I needed a new belt. I sprang for a full tune-up and belt replacement. The gentleman arrived at the appropriate time (one week after my call), changed the oil, lube, etc., and changed the belt. He didn't seem too interested to hear what issues I was having with the machine; he was more interested in changing the oil, changing the belt, and collecting my check. Two snowstorms later, I am having the same issues; it's not blowing snow as it should. I can appreciate the fact that we had some heavy, wet snow. But I've had this snowblower for 10-15 years and have gone through much heavier snow than this. And, I'm watching my neighbors use their smaller snowblowers (mine is a 28" Ariens) without too many problems. The part that really gets my goat is that, after having the pull cord snap on me, I discovered that the electric start doesn't work. [This was something that I was told on the phone that would be checked as part of the service] I've also had to adjust the shift lever (machine was slipping out of the selected speed), adjust the auger cable, and tighten the bolts that hold the handlebars to the frame. I was hoping that these things would have been looked at as part of the service. Is it time for a new snowblower? Are their other parts that need maintenance / replacing (bearings, etc.)? Is the machine in good shape overall? Is it on its last legs? Am I expecting too much from the machine? I was looking to get some feedback / advice / recommendations from the repairman here, but instead I got a quickie oil change, replace the belt, collect the check, and I'm on my way. In short, this service is okay if you are looking to have routine maintenance done, but, if you're looking for diagnosis for a specific problem, I cannot recommend. read more

I had him fix my last snowblower several years ago and he did a great job at a great price. Now my new snowblower a friend who moved gave me started to run very rough. I also needed a pin replaced. I called Bob and set my appointment. He was on time and in about an hour my snowblower was running like new. He also took the time to explain a few things about my snowblower that I had no idea about. He is a real professional and a great guy. I would 100% say call him you will not be disappointed. Had a snowblower that wouldn't start. I called too close to day of forecasted "snow bomb cyclone" so I accepted the fact that his appointment calendar was full and he couldn't make it here to repair it for a couple of weeks. But THE MORNING OF THE BLIZZARD his office called to say Bob could be here in 10 minutes! He pulled into driveway 10 minutes later, went right to work and repaired the blower in no time. He showed up right on time, got right to work, performed a comprehensive tune up, gave me a few friendly and helpful pointers/recommendations, and was on his way to his next appointment! I can't express how convenient it was for Bob to perform the tune-up right in my own driveway. The alternative would have been for me to find a friend with a pick-up truck, load the blower on the truck, drop it off at a repair shop, wait 4/5 weeks, borrow the pick-up truck again, and get it back home. Excellent customer service. They sent Bob to our house to tune up our snow blower and do an oil change. He found that part of the blade was broken and not even working. We accidentally snow blowed a runber mat but didn't think it damaged anything, it did. It cost so little to fix and the tune up was $100. We will definitely be coming back each year for a tune up. Made an appointment a week ago... Bob showed up, looked at my mower, and said "what did the woman who made the appointment for you say when you told her you have a zero-turn radius mower?" I told him that she said ok and scheduled me. He then told me that he does not service that type of mower. I informed him this was the second time he has been to my house, and the first time he was there he serviced the exact same mower. He then simply said "thank you for calling." and walked back to his truck! No apology, no acknowledgement that I've been waiting for 5 days for service while my grass grows 6" long, nothing. This is the crappiest service I've ever seen from an independent business. If you need your machine serviced, think twice before you call the Little Mower Shop. However, when I called to have my snowblower repaired, the woman was very rude and non-committed. Put me on hold 3 times for 5-10 minutes at a time. She was very vague and acted like she was doing me a favor and I should be grateful that she answered her phone. She couldn't even tell me an hourly rate. When I questioned her, because I did not want to be charged hundreds of dollars for a diagnostic service, she got defensive and hung up on me. RUDE. After telling the lady on the phone where I was located she put me on hold. She came back and said my town was out of the service area. Your website states Boston North and Southern NH. I live in Saugus MA, so therefore I should be covered. When she came back on the phone and told me this, I said that your website states that I'm in the service area and she got real snippy and hung up on me. This isn't good customer service at all. I can't say enough about Bob and his unique operation. I've used his service twice for broken snowblowers, and each time he's come either the same day or the next. First of all his service calls at my house prevented my having to push a snowblower that wouldn't start up ramps into my pickup to take to a shop, almost impossible. Secondly the women on the phone were polite, friendly and helpful. Bob himself is knowledgeable, articulate and friendly. He goes right to work. Afterwards, he gives a complete rundown of what happened and how to prevent future problems. And lastly he is very reasonable in price, and especially since he comes to the customer.
