I took my 19 month old here today to have his first haircut. He loves cars so I was hoping sitting in a car chair would help distract him. He was less than thrilled but overall this is a great place. Lucy cut his hair even with him squirming around and trying to get away. She was very kind and friendly, and made quick work of the haircut. They have tv screens to help distract the kids, and they give out lollipops and stickers, as well as a certificate for baby's first haircut. It was $35 for the experience. I had a very disappointing experience. My son was crying a lot before the appointment, so I called ahead to let them know we might be a little late. They told me it was not a problem and to come anyway. When I was almost at the door of the salon, they called me and canceled the appointment. I explained that I had already arrived, but they said it didn't matter and that they would not cut his hair. The attitude on the phone was also very rude. As a parent, it's already stressful bringing a small child for a haircut, and this situation made it even worse. I hope they improve how they treat their customers. read more

5 STARS all the way! This is our 3rd haircut, but 1st time at Munchkins with our almost 2 year old who is terrified of hair salons, even with sitting in the cute cars. I am very particular with hair styles and even without too much direction, the hairstylist ( I forgot to ask her name) gave him the cutest mullet using sheers and clippers. But the next day, I noticed the back of his neck was uneven--sticking out like he already needed another haircut. Since I work weekdays, I brought him back the following Saturday to get it fixed. They said the only way to correct it was to go shorter in the back, which we agreed to. Then they charged me full price for another haircut--just 6 days after the original one. As a loyal customer, it felt shady and completely unprofessional to drop that charge when they're pretty much finished cutting. There was no mention of any double charge "policy" during the phone call, nor when I arrived. As basic courtesy If there's going to be a second charge, you tell the customer BEFORE you start so they have the option to proceed or skip it. I ended up paying $80 for a child's haircut here. Totally unacceptable. First, I'm fully aware of my child's cowlicks--that's not the issue. The real issue is not being upfront around charges. It was explained that to fix the issue, we'd need to go shorter, and I agreed to that, so she proceeded. At no point BEFORE the haircut was it mentioned that I'd be charged again to fix it. The policy was mentioned casually during the cut, and I assumed she was just sharing general info--because naturally, if a charge were going to apply that day, I would obviously expect to be told BEFOREHAND, so I could make that decision myself. Had I been clearly informed, I would've declined and left with zero issue since it wasn't that pressing to get it fixed. Your policies are your right--but they should be communicated clearly prior to starting service, not once it's already almost finished. Also, I wasn't aware of a 3 day policy and came back 6 days later--not "a week or two" as you claimed. If you're going to reference timing, it would've taken just a moment to check your own schedule and speak accurately when addressing a client concern. This isn't so much about the charge itself--it's about how it was handled. The lack of transparency just didn't sit right as a customer. read more

Yeah, so... I'm really disappointed. After three years of muddling through my daughter's haircuts I thought I'd take her for a professional haircut to get things evened out. Sadly that's not what happened - everyone was very nice and the place was clean and well decorated, but her bangs are a good 1-2cm too short and super crooked. I know hair grows and all, but it's frustrating to get such an untidy result when you paid money for a service. And I got gaslit/ scolded when I pointed it out at the time. They told me I shouldn't have brought her in with such short bangs and there was nothing they could do. Attaching before and after pics - you can judge. I wanted to like this place but I think it's more for boys and wouldn't recommend for little girls. UPDATE: Little Munchkins was very kind to call me and let me know they agreed that the cut wasn't up to their standards and offered to have my daughter back to fix it. This was my first time taking my two year old son here and we loved it! The salon was very clean. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and asked to pick a car to sit in.
