The Meads were a lot of fun, very fruit and spice flavor forward. They get the honey from flagstaff, the one traditional mead was great. There were a few Pyments, which are Mead/Wine hybrids which makes a ton of sense here as they have the fresh fruit available! The double Black Cherry Vanilla Pyment was my favorite out of the bunch. Also really enjoyed the Them Apples, Tropical and both Pumpkin Spiced Meads. The tasting room is fun and inviting, lots of local art and crafty Kingman and Wine themed souvenirs. The owner gave us a quick tour of the fermentation area and told us quite a bit about their process, the area and future plans. We had such a good time that we want to plan another trip back to try the wines and take a bit more time. Plenty of bottled meads ready to go, we grabbed a few black cherry, mango and Them Apples to go, Fantastic Experience! Definitely worth planning a stop here on your next trip through Kingman.

It's a good size room with a DJ playing tunes, wine/beer tasting tables lined up, hors d'oeuvres to absorb your wine and silent auction tables with various items. You receive a souvenir wine glass to use all evening for your wine tastings. There are various water casks to rinse your wine glass between different tasting. Buying the tickets in advance saves quite a bit. It's all for a good cause to benefit the Animal Foundation. We certainly had a good time with friends for a joyful evening. If they want me to sample wine to benefit animals, I'm in.

We met several times over a 7 month period to prepare our wine. We'd make a party out of it each time. We each brought a bottle of wine and an appetizer to share. They have an area set up with tables for us to place it all. They provided us with wine glasses and pitchers of water. The staff is so knowledgeable about wine production and they did a great job explaining the process to us on each visit. On this particular visit, our wine was complete, so we were all part of the assembly line that got to bottle it up. We each took a case of wine home. Now I have 12 bottles of delicious wine to continue enjoying!

About three tastings in (we don't really drink) we needed to add some carbs to the party so we checked out the food menu. $10 for a small pizza, not bad at all. The pizza is made in the oven right there and smells so good! I think we spent two or more hours at Vegas Valley Winery and enjoyed every minute. I was here from beginning to end not as a participant but as a volunteer. My parents live on the way at Flamingo and Boulder, east by the mountains, and so I figure I can visit them then work a little bit before going off and hanging out friends afterwards. Ended up at YelpHQ instead but that was even more fun. As a volunteer, time working the booth really flew by. Then again, time flies by when you're having fun. I thought our team leader was gonna be late so I wanted to run the show but she was there. There were tons of volunteers as well, Yelp was given two booths out of the twenty to man and one of those booths had a photo booth for memories. I hope you readers that attended took advantage of that! The start of the event was at 7pm, each wine glass was to be filled with 1 oz of wine. Our booth (#3) had a.. wait for it.. let me get a hell yea for the Thorny Rose a Pinot Grigio, a refreshing white wine with melon, lemon, and other perfect fruity combinations. We were given a sheet to display what this wine was but as a group we memorized it in case people asked. I told some people it was a Horny Rose, but they must have been toasted since they didn't catch on. It was so good that we weren't even allowed to taste it but people wanted us to stamp another booth's number so they can have seconds. Nope, sorry! I do believe other tables were pouring over 1 oz of wine though. Portion control is important because by 9PM the wine was running low and we were completely out soon after. Some of the wine tables were hidden from the main pathway also so I kept having people come up to me asking where whatever table number was where. Maybe the tables could be placed in numerical order so they can backtrack if they caught themselves skipping one by accident? But hey vino fans, next time do come early so you can sample the wines and after you're done and have gotten your good fix you can sit around on the grass and enjoy the entertainment provided or eat at a restaurant. It was sad to see the pizza place closed though! Wine goes perfect with pizza, didn't you know that? In the end just know that you participated in a fundraiser for a good cause and hope you checked in and received your free wine glass charm. Shout outs to my fellow volunteers Pam, Ron, Robin and her dude, Vanessa, Tony, Nathan, Christina, Arvin, Anthony, Shirley, and Teri who had to leave early cause of a stomach bug. Lo and behold, we were right! The vibe here is very speakeasy, so if that's your vibe, you'll love it here. If you think Prohibition was the best thing that ever happened to this country, well, you probably wouldn't come to a distillery anyway and wouldn't have much to say about the joint. But in addition to that, the items available were interesting and the staff was incredibly friendly, with multiple offers to sample something before making a purchase and giving us some background on some of the wares. We went with an upcycled candle made from one of their bottles, and a bottle of gin, for our gin-swilling dogsitters. I hope the enjoy it and if they do, we'll be back for more!

And now I have the perfect one. Found this little Vegas gem randomly in the magazine in my hotel and figured it was worth the 30min trip to try it out. Booked a tour with Master Distiller Johnny, and from the moment I arrived, they took great care of me. The tour was fun and informative. I know a good amount about distilling whiskey, but they talked about their specific processes and the unique attributes of distilling in the hot desert. After the tour, I spent some time in the awesome tap room. Old School vibe to it, with food that rivals the restaurants on the strip, bartenders who are friendly and make a killer cocktail, and just a great place to chat with folks at the bar and hang out for a quiet evening. I will absolutely be back next time I'm in town. It's well worth the trip. Don't forget to pick up a couple of bottles; they even stock bottle protectors for you to get them home safely (like all 3 of mine did).
