This was my first time trying Little Peru and I must say it was a lovely experience! They are very nice and generous with the amount of food. My friend loves the yucca from here! The tilapia was a huge whole fish! I ordered the lomo saltado and it was not bad. The beef was overcooked a bit for me though. I added more tomatoes to that dish when I got home because there was too much beef and not enough tomatoes for me! I love tomatoes! All in all, a wonderful first try! read more

The yucca we got was hard to eat, I've never struggled to eat yucca before... second, my partner asked if their were sauces in the bag, the server just rushed him out and saying they are in there. To our disappointment there was no sauce. My partner did like the veggies as they seem to be cooked in.a broth beforehand, I'd prefer mind to be steamed so I wasn't fan. I can't believe these reviews. The place is dirty. The bathroom door had more grease hand prints than a kindergartner classroom. The floors were super sticky and the bathroom was out of paper towels. I came here during my most recent visit to Fairfax. My girlfriend suggested we have Peruvian chicken. We ordered a whole chicken, arroz chafe, and plantains. Now, we all know a whole roasted chicken is susceptible to having dry breast unless you purchase immediately after they come out of cooking. Our chicken breast was on the dry side, but the Peruvian seasoning and green seasoning made up for the lack of moisture. The rest of the chicken was fabulous. The arroz chafe was fantastic and the plantains were simply perfect. We couldn't have been more satisfied. Plus, she bought a Peruvian bottle of juice that was fantastic. updating my review from a few years ago. I went to little peru when it first opened and it was like a oasis for Peruvian chicken in Fairfax, a gift from above. Now, the oasis has turned into a mirage. when it first opened the chicken was AMAZING. Every yuca was so crispy and soft on the inside. I loved the white rice and coleslaw. Something changed in the span of a couple years. it has to be a new chef or new management or something behind the scenes and it was for the worse. it's as if the recipes were passed to another person but they made a cheap imitation of what it used to be. The chicken tastes almost like rotisserie chicken you get at the supermarket. The white rice is often raw and flavorless. I would be lucky to get a good batch of yuca. I'm only saying this because I really loved little peru when it first opened and the flavors were so spot on and I just wish it came back to it's former glory. it used to be my go to spot... but I'll be looking for a new spot now unless they get back to the high quality food I know they were capable of. I don't usually rag on places on yelp but really how could little peru go from such an amazing place to more serving raw white rice (this has happened many times). I committed a crime by never leaving a review when I order here fairly frequently. The chicken is very good. The sauces are fire and you can order extras online. I love mixing them together. I haven't tried most of the sides, but the sandwich never misses. Sometimes the yucca fries are dry but I also I dig that. It's my preferred chicken joint close to home. I actually found this place because of Yelp and I was in the area. I ordered my food online and when I got there, they were very busy, so it took another 10 minutes for my food to be ready. But it wasn't a horrible wait. The sack is friendly and you can see them working hard to fulfill orders. Price points are not bad at all because I literally had enough food to feed three people from one whole chicken meal. It came with two sides, and I had the assumption for some reason it was only for one person lol it definitely was not and I have a ton of left. I also got Tres leches, and half of it was frozen, which was kind of disappointing. I believe they opened couple days ago. I called them to make sure they were open and also to ask if they serve halal food and answer was yes to both. Decided to come for lunch and orders whole chicken with sides of yuca and 4 Canada of soda. We had plenty of food to eat and to also take home. The chicken was very juicy and had really good flavor. Customer service was great. Wanted to try their Lumo Salado. They say it was one of their best selling meals. I think I will stick with the chicken next time because the meat was chewy and heart. I recommend they invest in better quality meat steaks if you want to charge $20 for that it is a good place and I will give it another try but was disappointed with the lawnmower Salado, because of the chewing of the steak they can do better with that. I know there's a TON of Peruvian establishments all over VA but when I found a halal version I came running. As others mentioned, prices are low and portions are large. Very clean, small establishment in a busy shopping plaza. Within mins. I had my 1/2 chicken with steamed veggies and yucca and tons of sauce. The chicken had incredible flavor, sauce was creamy and well seasoned, and the yucca was some of the best I ever had. I think this beats all other Peruvian places for me. Meh. I came here on a random Saturday, just before lunch. The chicken seemed a little overcooked (from the outside) and it was also dry (likely, due to it being too done). Regardless, for me, it didn't really have that typical, super flavorful, peruvian rotisserie chicken that i grew up with (my dad is peruvian). I also think the arroz chaufa was tasty enough, but a bit salty. The sauces were good and the steamed veggies made the made the mark, but that's hard to mess up. I might give them another try. I was just hoping they'd be as good, or better than, Wild Chicken, just 0.25 mi away (which has been a long-time favorite of mine, and my peruvian relatives and friends). read more

Placed an online order through Yelp for pickup for our entire construction team and us as we renovated our house. Got a little bit of everything to feed a hungry crew. Drove over to Fairfax to pick it up, the employees wore masks and quickly helped us gather all the extras (plates, napkins, extra silverware, and drinks) and we were in and out of the door super quick. The food was delicious, traveled about 20 mins really well and everything tasted great!! Their sauce is typical (yellow and green), their yuca was just the right amount of fried and not dried out at all and OMG the plantains were absolutely wonderful! The Tres leches cake at this place is sold to you frozen. I'm not a person that frequently eats cakes (I prefer pies), but this is amazing! I've had tres leches at other restaurants, but this one is the bomb.com! I eat it frozen and it tastes like ice cream cake. The third installment of my list of Peruvian Chicken Joints in the DMV region since next to kabobs, they are a staple offering amongst the most popular dining options. I will break down the elements into the following categories: 1) Chicken 2) Sides 3) Sauces 4) Unique items 5) X-factor 1)Chicken- flavorful skin with moist juicy interior. One might argue the dry rub is a bit on the aggressive side veering towards being too salty, but I say that allows you to titrate it to your liking by deciding on how much skin and crispy bits you want to incorporate with each bite of meat since the seasoning is what distinguishes it from any other rotisserie chicken so better too much than too little 2) Sides- Bonus points for not charging extra for plantains, the black beans have a distinctly pleasant spice profile (cumin?), otherwise the remaining options are pretty standard with well fried yucca and fries 3) Sauces- green and yellow sauce only, the green sauce appears to be freshly made with a moderate spicy kick and herbaceous cilantro notes reminiscent of a solid chimichurri 4) Unique items- Option for wraps and subs in addition to beef/chicken saltados, but aside from a fried tilapia and carne asada entrée, the menu is a bit more limited than other similar joints (no chaufa, soups, ceviche). 5) X-factor- the meats are all halal, and the price point is very friendly for portion size Classic Peruvian chicken joint with a well seasoned bird and serving halal meats, and standard sides without any weak options but a little limited on menu variety. read more

Ordered our usual orders at a Peruvian restaurant - chicken with some sides and lomo saltado. +Half chicken with yuca fries and plantains: The chicken was super flavorful and the chicken was tender and juicy. The yuca fries were delicious and crispy and the plantains were solid. Everything about this plate was solid! +Lomo saltado: I love me some steak and fries and this did not disappoint. The portion was pretty big for the price and there was a good balance of meat and fries. The juices were sitting at the bottom and the fries soaked some of those juices up so every bite was so delicious. I also loved dipping some of the rice in that residual sauce - yum! +Sauces: The green sauce was refreshing and a small kick to it. The yellow sauce was a bit heavier on the Mayo taste/side and was a bit too much for my liking. I actually mixed the yellow and green sauce (1:3 ratio of yellow to green) and it was actually just perfect to dip in. So good! Overall, the prices were pretty decent for the portion, quality, and taste! Ordering online is pretty easy and straightforward and everything was hot when we took it home. There isn't a lot of seating inside so make sure to plan for carry-out just in case. The employees were all wearing masks and there are stickers on the floor for physical distancing. Had the half chicken, with yucca and chickpeas. Everything was good. I give the chicken 4 stars, the yucca 5 stars and the chickpeas maybe 4 stars. Yucca is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside... they will get a lose some of their crispiness if they sit in the package too long. They give two of each sauce (green and yellow) and they don't charge extra for yucca. The green sauce has some good kick to it. I give them a thumbs up. read more
