I gave them 5 stars because they are really trying and providing over-the-top customer service, even though the bathroom in our suite was a little smaller than ideal.

The rooms are stocked with snacks and there's some local artwork you can purchase if you like. The upstairs suite doesn't have any kind of a kitchen, though there's a mini-fridge and I believe a microwave, so dishes are bussed out as you use them; don't plan on doing any food prep on your own. The hostess brought breakfast to the room (there's not a common dining room like most B&Bs) and pointed out the local ingredients including eggs from her chickens and vegetables from the garden. This is a real working mini-farm and it's fun to stroll the grounds and see what is going on. And it's VERY close to the northeast corner of the campus; we were able to leave our car and walk to his dorm (Van Meter) in about 20 minutes. Like the website says, the grounds are very rich in animals and there's an extremely friendly cat who wouldn't stay out of our room in spite of the management's desire to keep the premises pet-free. When we booked it, the website said that it came with a sitting room, but didn't mention that it was a shared sitting room with another unit. However, the sitting room was very pleasant and had a working TV. We stayed for two nights and didn't wake up on time for breakfast (served 8AM - 9:30) either morning, so I can't really speak to that. We only encountered the innkeeper once, but she mostly kept to herself. Many people choose bed & breakfasts for the charm, so that was slightly lacking in our experience. Our only other complaint was the insects - mostly lots of moths, but that wasn't surprising in a place this old. Overall though, the stay worked out for us! The location was very close to the venue of the wedding we were in town for and also to downtown Peterborough, which I recommend checking out.

While there's not a lot to do in Greenfield, New Hampshire, it's all within a few doors of the Inn. Mi Corazon is an excellent Mexican restaurant two doors down; great food, margaritas, and Saturday night karaoke was a blast. Harvest Market, two more doors down, has everything plus locally sourced products from produce to craft beers and specialty foods. The church from the 1700s is across the street but Sunday we stayed behind enjoying the breakfast spread and Keurig coffees. This is a beautiful part of New Hampshire that has kept its charm. The church bell still chimes on the hour in this small town even as time itself seems to slow down.

But now, it's under a new name, with what appears to be some small cosmetic changes, and they've doubled the price to a staggering $400 a night. This isn't a luxury hotel, and charging luxury prices for what is, at best, a slightly renovated motel is a blight on Peterborough. The rooms are average, the amenities are basic, and the service is nothing to write home about. It's an insult to customers to expect them to pay a premium for a decidedly average experience. If you're looking for value, look elsewhere. This place is a prime example of a business trying to capitalize on a fresh coat of paint without putting in the real work to justify the price tag. Save your money and find a place that actually offers a luxury experience for luxury prices.
