Five stars for the shop and another 5 stars for my tattoo artist ALEXIS HANSEN! Let's start from the beginning: I was definitely _that_ customer. I sent an email while I was traveling asking for an appointment for a tattoo. I gave a vague description, attached some janky screenshots from Pinterest of other peoples tattoos and said 'just do something like this'. I wasn't helpful to say the least. First thing I noticed about the shops website was the ease of scheduling and I got a bot response to confirm my booking and deposit instantly. I LOVE a tattoo shop that embraces good technology and even more if they're using it right. Less than 12 hours later (and on a holiday) I got an email from Alexis. You can sort of tell that Alexis has a warm and friendly demeanor just by the way she types which is important in the tattoo industry. I get so sick of dealing with tattoo artists that have this 'I picked a cooler career than you' attitude. Not Alexis though! She was 100% in communication with me from the word 'go' and was just so pleasant to work with. Not even a tiny spec of bad attitude. When I arrived for my appointment everyone in the shop was super friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. Not only to myself but to everyone who came in, regardless of whether they were the artist doing their work. Lots of smiles, lots of pleases and thank you's. Impeccable customer service. Everything was very clean and tidy, the artwork was tasteful, the music was good and you could tell that all of the artists really enjoy being around each other. Great vibe, wonderful atmosphere. Alexis was able to take my crappy screenshots and turn them into a very well done and meaningful piece of body art. Her technique was easy and comfortable, her lines are clean and deliberate and the healing is going great. I'm really happy with the entire experience and I really hope that if I'm passing through St.George again that I'll be able to get more artwork done at Little Savage Tattoo. read more

I purchased a gift certificate for my daughter for Christmas to get a small tattoo. It took over 6 months to get an appointment. I get it. He does great work and is in demand The day of the appointment, she consulted with Chris and he designed her tattoo bigger than what she had originally had in mind. They agreed upon a price. He did amazing work. She tipped him -She gave him the gift cert and he ran her card. Today (next day) the charge hit her bank for the agreed upon price and the tip. There was no credit given for the gift certificate or her deposit!!! She called him and explained what had happened thinking he forgot to credit the gift cert & he would do the right thing and credit the amount of the gift certificate- AND her deposit! BUT INSTEAD He started making excuses and tried to justify it as he knows the value of his work! No one is disputing the Quality and Value of his work! The problem is no matter how good the work is. You do not agree to do a specific piece for a price and then charge more AND THEN try to make the person feel like they are in the wrong for calling you out on your dishonesty. Or is it that his gift certificates really have NO VALUE?? it stated it was good thru the end of the year. but when she gave it to him to pay for the tattoo, she got no credit for it-So Im really not sure where the money I spent to get the gift certificate went! I had heard great things of Chris Little, so I went in and talked with him about a memorial tattoo idea. He began drawing my idea on his iPad and our ideas for it lined up perfectly. A friend and I were in town and decided to get impromptu tattoos to commemorate our visit to Zion. We visited the shop and got a consult with Chase and we knew he would do a great job bc he seemed to understand the concept we were both going for. The following day, we arrive for our appointment and Chase said he only had time to do one tattoo because he had a last minute errand. So he asks if it was okay if I got my tattoo done by Chris. Based on his other work, I was very impressed and I gladly obliged. While I wished that Chase would have called and notified me of this information a little earlier, he did reassure us that he went over my tattoo design with Chris and that he was on the same page. I am a very easy going person, so a little heads up would have been nice. However, I understand and I am not really upset about it as this wasn't the biggest issue. We proceeded to prepare the stencil and I was really excited with the composition of the entire image. My design had 3 parts: a compass, mountains, and some text. Because I only wanted very simple line work of the skyline of the Zion mountain range, I was a little apprehensive when he stenciled a photo of the Zion mountains instead of hand drawing it first. He reassured me that it would be all line work and that he's done it before, so I trusted that he knew what he was doing. Who was I to judge? Every artist has their own process, so I wish to respect that. He also insisted on making it much bigger than I wanted. I expressed a few times that I wanted it smaller and he seemed hesitant each time. His reasoning being that the tattoo would lose its detail. Eventually, we finally agreed on a size that was acceptable for us both. And so the tattooing process began... Let me first say that the compass and the text look awesome. It was exactly what I wanted. But the mountains are a completely different story. Considering that he used the actual photo of the Zion mountains for the stencil, I assumed that he would follow the shape of the photo. Instead, you can see that he drew off course and there are no visual cues that would lead any person to believe that these were the Zion mountains. He added vertical lines in hopes to add detail to the mountains, but when you look at it, the lines serve no purpose to the image. While the line work was really clean, the final image lacked any sense of volume or depth and has no cohesion. In the original photo, there is an obvious contrast between the light and dark shadows from the taller mountains, which makes a very harsh shadow edge on the face. This can appear to be a straight line if you do not understand how shadows work. Instead, Chris drew an entirely new mountain range using that shadow's edge. Strangely enough, the second "mountain" looked more like what I was going for. Needless to say, I am a little bummed and disappointed at how that part turned out. Had I didn't put my trust in him to freehand a simple mountain image, then I wouldn't be in this position. Chris is undoubtedly a talented artist and I still stand by that statement completely; however, I think that he didn't quite understand what i wanted and should have drawn it out first instead of insisting that he knew what he was doing. It wasn't until after that fact that I really did not feel that my specifications were really acknowledged and that they seemed more like a burden to him more than anything. Not only that, the cost of the tattoo doubled (I did ask for the compass, which was extra). I was fine paying that price as long as I got what I wanted, which in this case, didn't happen. This review is not to discourage any business or to discredit the quality of work from any artist at Little Savage, but to make sure that if you are considering to get any work done here, that to be sure you have all your specifications met and to be sure that you are completely on the same page as your artist. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through the same experience I went through or to feel the need to have their tattoo fixed, which is exactly what I'm gonna end up doing. read more
