Oh Little Swiss Chalet, how I love thee so! So many treasures packed into a tiny shop! First of all, I think this store is known for the amazing candles, because seriously they are the best ever! And they are made from coconut wax so I know that I'm not burning anything toxic. Of course the candles are a hit, but it would be a crime not to comment on the VINTAGE!!! The owner has such a great eye for vintage, and some of my most favorite pieces of clothing in my wardrobe have been found at her shop! It's always time well spent visiting the Little Swiss Chalet, definitely make a visit if you are in the area! ~My onnnneee little complaint, the last visit I made here, the employee at the counter didn't have a mask on. In a tiny little space like this, I felt a bit uncomfortable to be shopping in there during current pandemic circumstances. I've only seen this happen once, so it's probably not a constant issue. I love this shop and almost always see something I want when I walk past but usually only go if there's a regular employee working because the owner is so rude to me every time :( it's almost like she doesn't want me to buy anything? This time she frantically says they're closed or only accept limited payment types. I have any payment type she needs it's only $20 and the sign says you're open. Cute storefront but honestly not a great experience in the store. They didn't really seem to care about COVID and the owner was super rude. I try to support local businesses, but when the owner seems to not care about how people are treated, it's kind of hard to want to spend your money there. Stopped by yesterday while waiting on food and bought cranberry and sage and sweater weather candles. The scents were very unique and didn't have the artificial strong scent some bigger candle companies have. The sales associate was so pleasant and knowledgeable and told me they make the candles themselves and only buy items from local business, which I love. Over the last few months I have been a frequent shopper at this quaint little shop. They have an amazing vintage clothing collection and little gifts and handmade candles. I have no complaints on the CUTE aesthetic and products of this shop. However, recently I have felt quite uncomfortable shopping here because they do not mandate masks for customers or employees. If you are at risk for COVID or have any concerns over masks, do not shop here. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and kept shopping here for a few weeks (since I wanted to continue supporting small businesses), but the employees consistently would not wear masks which made me feel quite unsafe since the shop is such a small space with limited ventilation. In addition, I felt uncomfortable speaking out about my discomfort because of the owner's shaming of customers who disagree with her on the business's instagram. I have now stopped shopping here because the owner quite vocally uses her store to push her political agenda and fund political candidates. I have no issue shopping at a store whose owner has different political ideologies than I, but I have an issue spending my money at a store being used to directly financially support and campaign for political candidates that I personally do not support. I am so sad that I cannot consciously shop here anymore because it really was my favorite store in all of Redlands. read more
