These two parks are located about a half a mile from one another. The park itself consists of a place scape, covered swings, picnic table, and 3 benches along with a half basketball court. There's also a gravel trail that runs behind the homes from this park. A good place for the kids to hang out or ride a bike on the trail. It is a Manor public park not an HOA park.

The paved path is just lovely, with multiple bridges over creek crossings, plenty of alternating shade and sun, and flora & fauna galore. There are enough gentle hills to give you a workout without being too brutal to keep you from coming back. If you start on the west side, your journey begins near The Hideout pub and winds about 2.5 miles east all the way to Walnut Creek Park. If you do the out & back course without taking any of the side trails, you'll get a solid 5 mile workout. Of course, if you don't mind the dirt, you can go off the paved path and use many of the rougher technical trails throughout Walnut Creek Park to up your mileage and level of difficulty. Due to COVID-19, it was one of the very few parks opened the weekend of my visit. It wasn't crowded, plenty of open space for social distancing. I was impressed with the cleanliness, even the picnic tables and park restrooms were well maintained. The park offers a nice view of the lake with lots of boating & jet skiing activities. Boat ramps are available on the park. The over night camping section of the park remains closed due to COVID-19 restrictions. I will definitely consider Arkansas Bend Park in the future for outdoor activities. Next time I'll be better prepared for some picnicking & BBQ, along with some extended fun in the sun.

It's a huge open space which is mostly underutilized. A smattering of local folks and homeless sit at the bench under the huge oak next to Shoal Creek. There isn't much here but the bench and open field. Sometimes that can make for a pretty good park.

My hubby and I decided to go walking at Inga trail near Bull Creek this morning and ended up going back in the evening. It's a relatively short trail and surrounded by little pools of water. It is literally underneath Capital of Texas highway near Old Spicewood Springs Road. The Inga VanNynatten Memorial Trail offers a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of Austin City life. Mostly locals know about it because you have to turn off old Spicewood Springs Road to get to it (off the beaten path.) The trail is named after a University of Texas naturalist Inga, which honors her legacy. In the morning, the quiet is hypnotic...you can hear the bird singing, crickets chirping and the tree branches gently whistling in the wind. While this is a short trail, it is a good aerobic workout while basking in early morning sun. Surprisingly, we were not the only early morning trail enthusiasts. Two creeks on each side of the street were gurgling, including little bush debris floating around. Trail hikes are appealing because you get to enjoy nature, get a great workout and it is free. Along the trail you can see large stones, many green trees, and bushes along the path. You can also take in a few wildflowers along the path. In the evening, we went back and sat on a rock while dipping our feet in the creek. Nice and relaxing... Inga Trail is Austin's little hidden gem. It is ideal for a short hike, a time to relax or meditate, or a dip into creek.

Today, we took him to Woodlands Park in Austin, Texas. I have to say, this is one of the most pristine and well-maintained parks I've visited in quite some time. The grass looks like it belongs on a golf course...perfectly trimmed, lush, and vibrantly green. The grounds are spotless, with no stray litter in sight, and the trees and landscaping are healthy and beautifully cared for. Woodlands Park is a peaceful neighborhood gem, that invites you to slow down and enjoy the moment. Whether you're looking to meditate, read a book, or simply unwind, the tranquil atmosphere makes it easy to do so. Mature trees provide abundant shade, a welcome luxury during 90+ degree Austin weather. The walking trails offer a pleasant setting for a leisurely stroll, light jog, or dog walk. While the trail system is not large, it's well-maintained and perfect for a relaxing outdoor escape. The green spaces are ideal for picnics, badminton, tossing a ball around, or simply stretching out on the grass and enjoying the fresh air. There's a covered playground, a couple of small soccer fields (not full size but they do have goals for practicing), a couple of tennis courts, a covered pavilion with a big bbq grill, and picnic tables with bbq grills throughout the park. It's a cool place to chill out at or walk along the creek on the crushed granite trails. The trails are very moderate, with minimal incline and not rugged at all. Good creek views and mostly shaded. This is a good place to stop if you need to fill your water bottle before or after hiking the River Place Natural Trail. If you haven't done that one, you GOTTA check it out btw. Yes, they also have restrooms here.
