The PT assistants actually stay with you during your exercises to help correct your form and ensure you get the most benefit. I have cancelled all of my pre booked appointments and advised the front desk I would not be coming back. The front desk are nice and polite. However they did not have the ability to accommodate the huge crowds waiting for PT. I was extremely disappointed. The Physical Therapist was over taxed it seemed. We may all have been double or triple booked with not enough staff and time management.

Depending on what my condition is and what area of the body he's focused on, I might be laying down or in a relaxed seated position. Shawn then places a long white, like a lasso around or on the area and then you start to feel a pulsating feel which tenses and relaxes the muscles in that area. I especially like when the lasso is put over my head and the pulsating covers all the muscle in my neck and shoulders which really relaxes me. I feel like I need a nap after a treatment. I worked for years in the automotive field and have suffered with chronic back pain for much of my adult life. It was not uncommon for me to experience a flare-up that would be so painful that it would knock me out of commission for several days. A few years ago my wife encouraged me to try Pilates in an effort to get some relief and I was referred to Kathy. I had always worked to stay fit lifting weights, stretching, etc. but I had never tried anything like Pilates before. To say I was skeptical was an understatement, but I decided to give it a try. I believe Pilates has a reputation for being exercise geared only to women. This couldn't be further from the truth. It is an all body workout and it is for anybody regardless of your gender, your age or level of fitness. I found Kathy to be incredibly knowledgeable (she is a Pilates Master Instructor) and she is encouraging and fun. She pushed me to make sure I was getting the full benefit of the class, but she never had me do anything that caused me back discomfort. After a few months working with Kathy it dawned on me that I hadn't had any major flare-ups with my back. About a year ago I experienced a medical scare with a rare condition called Transverse Myelitis. It is an autoimmune disorder that caused me to lose the ability to move the left side of my body. When I was discharged from the hospital I was beginning to regain a very small amount of movement, but my left leg dragged and I couldn't hold anything in my left hand. The doctor told me my condition wouldn't get worse, but there was a very strong likelihood that it wouldn't ever get any better either. I was able to walk, but only if using a walker. I was a month away from retiring and needless to say, that was not how I had envisioned my retirement. About a month or so later I decided to try and get on my reformer. After just a few minutes I knew that Pilates was what was going to get me better. I contacted Kathy and she started working with me again. It has now been 17 months since I was hospitalized and I have regained all movement and strength. My neurologist was amazed at my recovery and I owe so much of that to Kathy. She is the kind of person that helps to heal both your mind and your body. She is nurturing and she really knows what she is doing. There just aren't enough words to express my gratitude and to describe what an amazing person Kathy is.
