She switched my electric…read moreand I was paying crazy prices like $200 for 1 month when I was out of the country for the unit ABOVE me who had his electric included so he would leave his AC on all day as it didn't matter. 1 visit from Edison revealed I had been charged for his unit - so she got the bills reversed and I was credited. She likes to take 2 months rent deposits up front so she can SCAM all these stupid charges and when she appears in small claims court she embarrasses herself in front of the judge showing 'quotes' for new blinds and not the actual 'receipts' then she storms out embarrassed when she's made to pay the remaining deposits and the court fees alongside. Renters beware of this individual and her unethical business practices.

So as of today, I am back in town and have to say this has been a A+ experience. She handled a brand new nightmarish dog barking situation which began at the next door apartment on the very same day I left town. Jessica completely diffused and resolved the situation and calmed my new renter who was just about ready to move out. She stayed in touch with the renter - and with me via email across the world. Jessica is warm, friendly and so professional - both in person and in her written communication. So I decided to look into using an apartment broker, to take some of the burden off myself and let a professional handle things instead... After looking at a few different firms online, I got good vibes from The Rental Girl (TRG), a boutique real estate agency here in Los Angeles, that also handles apartment searches. I liked the fact that the company is on the smaller side (around 20 or so employees, I believe), so that you really get their full attention. And for me personally, it was also a big plus to support a women-owned business. For apartment searches, they offer a couple of options: 1) You can sign up on their website to access listings on your own. or... 2) They also offer a concierge service, where they take inventory of your specific needs and wants and then do a customized search for you, which includes setting up walk-thrus, handling paperwork, and basically taking charge of all the less-fun aspects of looking for a new apartment. Their concierge service is made up of a team of people who each cover a different area of Los Angeles. For the area I was looking in, I was assigned a terrific, friendly dynamo named Itza Campos. She took great care of me every step of the way, serving as a sounding board (and even a therapist at times, lol) as we considered various apartments, before landing on just the right one. It was a true pleasure working with her and I really can't thank her enough for all the help she gave me! TRG concierge service isn't inexpensive -- it's equal to the price of one month's rent on your new apartment -- but I have to say that I consider it money VERY well-spent. Itza made the whole process fun and basically painless. I would recommend The Rental Girl without hesitation for anyone who wants help in finding the perfect place to live.
