i took my first pilates class at this studio and it was great. i took a tone class with ashley and she kicked my butt! my legs were super jelly the next day. i haven't felt this sore since my days horseback riding. it's a really good workout and look forward to coming back and taking more sessions! the studio itself is in the supermarket plaza. it wasn't hard to find parking, but it's definitely a busy area. the people who work here are very sweet. i really enjoyed my first class. read more

All the instructors are excellent and always reminding us to be mindful of our bodies and if help is needed to achieve perfection with our form, they are always happy to help. I bought a 10 pack in December. I got sick and did not use the classes. The owner is now saying I only have 3 classes left. For sure I only went 2 times max. What bad business practices!! I made sure to cancel before the classes because of the $15 no show policy. Read the reviews before you sign up! I'm not the only one! I won't be going back. My absolute FAVORITE Pilates studio & workout. This was the first studio I joined last year and I keep coming back. Pilates completely changed me physically and mentally for the best. I've never felt more powerful after a workout. Every instructor is incredible and has a magic way of making everything burn. Especially Sarah, she is amazing. She continues to push me as well as correcting my form for the results I work for. I've never had an instructor as in tune as her. She makes me want to push harder and challenge myself during class. As a pilates instructor myself, I hate to leave bad reviews for pilates studios, but who ever owns this studio needs to know that this studio offers the worst customer service of any business I have ever stepped foot in! They do not honor their packages, and the staff is incredibly rude and dismissive! especially the manager! If you have them hold your account, make sure you physically see them write a note on your account because they will deny and screw you out of weeks of paid classes. I still can't believe they can get away with this! Biggest waste of money! Response to studio: note to future clients, you will get a faster response when posting a 1 star review comment, than you will tying to get a hold of someone to help you when your actual paying client. They basically tell you what you want to hear and make promises they don't Intend to honor when having u sign up. When you are told you can absolutely put your account on hold due to a pandemic that you have absolutely no control over, and then to be told your classes are "expired" when you are finally able to return, is ridiculous. Honor what you promise, Is that too much to ask as a paying customer!? read more

What core reform is doing right: - good location - good class size - some good teachers ( Sarah B was great- kind, attentive for different levels of expertise and careful with those with injuries to give modifications) What core reform needs to improve: - hygiene and cleanliness of floors and machines (hair on the machines often and on the ground) - hygiene and cleanliness of water station (covered in grime and muck and mold - do not use- bring tour own water if you go! See pictures) - hygiene and cleanliness and amenities of bathroom ( only cheap soft soap to wash your face and no paper towels to dry, rust in bathroom, only one bathroom and no changing area- if your coming from work you have to wait to change)- so bring your own towel, face wash if you want that and come early to change or change at work. - customer service - (very poor from the manager to other customers i know with little regard to injury risk and customer concern) - ensure all instructors discuss warm up and down and modifications for injuries and skill levels. I see they are opening a new studio, and hope this feedback is useful for improving. I know many who have tried core reform and haven't bothered to comment but feel similar- so hope this is helpful. read more

I purchased a package 4 months ago with 5 group Sessions. I used one of the sessions when I purchased the package. I just tried to sign up for a session and they informed me my package expired. I could not come in to group pilates due to covid and my package was not even one month over the expiration they said they could not change the expiration date and I would need to purchase a new package. I feel this is bad customer service. Make sure you know your package has an expiration date and if they close or if you cannot come because you are sick they will not offer any grace on your sessions if you pass the expiration date. I will not be returning due to bad customer service. On top of that I am reading other reviews and this is a common theme with this studio. read more

1. They would not grant additional time to use the last 3 sessions that on my package which I received as a gift. Customer service stated, "Unfortunately we can not extend the expiration date of your Groupon unless you have a Dr. note. While we'd love to help you out, we're obligated to adhere to the terms of our deal with Groupon"....unbeknownst to me, from the day I received the voucher to the date of expiration...I had approximately 20 days to use all sessions. 2. Need to improve scheduling system 3. If you are going to try this location, try out different times because there is only 1 instructor I would recommend for newbies (like myself) 4. Ok so where do I start? This is most definitely one of the best Pilates classes I've taken. Majority of the instructors are awesome, friendly, welcoming and totally kick your butt! I started getting Vertigo and having crazy migraines because of a car accident I recently was involved in. I missed classes but I figured a doctors note would excuse me from those classes considering what I was experiencing. They failed to communicate with me (after I emailed serval times) but they did refund me one late fee. The communicate is really disappointing. I definitely felt disrespected. Mostly by the manager. She's not the most personable or friendly person I've met. I just feel like she needs to smile and engage more. Maybe have a little compassion for people. So now I'll take my business elsewhere. The handful of friends I referred to them will no longer be going either bc they agree it's not the friendliest environment. *In reply to your comment, it wasn't about the no show fees it was about me being seriously injured and I had a doctors note for the dates. You guys ignored my emails. The lack of communication was unprofessional. I also took a month off until I fully recovered. The manager did not do much to help after I asked her. She also was never kind to me about it. So it's ok for her to hurt my feelings but I can't be genuinely honest about my experience if that means hurting her feelings? I could write a book on how GREAT Core Reform Pilates is and how it has transformed my body, strength & endurance! I've been a client now for about 4 months roughly, 3 classes a week and I started to see definition in my entire body after about 10 classes!! Each and every teacher I've had is great & knowledgeable. They show modifications if you need to modify a certain move and help guide you through the 50 minute class by inspiring you, but also allowing you to listen to your body and go at your own pace. Which I love. I went to a personal trainer for 18 months, 2 times a week, and achieved some minimal results, but not like I have in the 4 months at Core Reform Pilates! I am getting compliments on how great my legs look! Haven't heard that since 1986 when I was a senior in high school! Also, my arms and abs are defined. If I gave up pizza and beer, my belly would look great too! Lol. I see the muscles under the carb bloat. Lol. The studio is always clean and the perfect temperature and just all around great! This place is so awesome! I went there with a knee injury and overweight and they are all very kind and supportive. Every instructor CARES about your well-being and the most important thing to them is your form. It's an amazing workout and best of all my knee is at 80 percent thanks to pilates. This is an immaculate, well laid out workout space with Stott Pilates reformers. Stott Pilates sort of takes up where the original Pilates left off. Google it for more information or just be adventurous and try it. I was able to enroll and pay on-line (via their well laid out web site) for my first class for a flat $15 which is a substantial discount from the usual class fee. The 50-minute class started on time and began with use of a mini-trampoline that we attached to the Reformer, then horizontal jumping commenced. Hard? Sort of. Fun? Sort of. Good work out? Mos' def. The instructor wore a head set while walking between us to check and correct positions and ensure safety. She'd count down to the end of each movement; it was all very clear and I appreciated her friendliness and the well-organized way she led the class. For those who continue on, they offer various packages for unlimited monthly access. It's not cheap but it's an investment in yourself and that's always worth it. Because I booked on-line, they just sent me notice of a 3-day only holiday special: 10 group Reformer classes for $150 (regularly $250) to be used during December. Great deal... I have to disagree with some of the reviewers about the Pilate classes in Core Reform studios. I bought an eight pack from Groupon and I ended up taking two of the eight (not a good track record for myself) as I had some massive project that derailed my physical activity for the last 2-3 weeks. I took a Cardio Core class with Francesca. As the name suggest, Cardio Core is Pilate with some cardio and I think that Francesca is decent instructor and I rate her a solid three "3" star. The second class was with Sarah and I took "Pilate I" with Sarah. I can tell you that it is expected that in Pilate I you will see instructor correcting forms and pointing your mistake, but Sarah made no such efforts on anyone: she only walks and guide you through the different routines. I do believe that this studio offers a lower class that is called "Form Focus" which is more hand on for the beginner, but Sarah was completely hand off in regard to correcting any mistakes for any participant and I would say that there 2-3 beginner's student in studio that day that I was there. I give Sarah a solid "2" star. While Francesca class had lots of energy, Sarah class was void of any energy. The studios: This chain has two studios, Laguna Niguel and Newport Beach. Both locations are located at busy centers and both locations clean and well kept. Parking in both locations are fairly easy except that location in Newport Beach seems much more crowded. Management: I had limited interactions with a management. I had two issues with them and both issues were resolved in my favor. Although I can tell that the owner is somehow seems a bit aloof and indifferent when solving your problem. You have to be precise and be 100% right for them to side in your favor. I will rate the management a "2" star. Scheduling: The studio offers nice booking system and offer variety of classes and different times. They do definitely deserve a five star for that aspect. Prices: For what this place is offering, I would not recommend this place. There are better Pilate studios that are slightly cheaper, instructed MUCH better and friendlier management. read more

I've been a Core Reform client for several years. I am a classically trained dancer and instructor myself. Core Reform offers a safe yet challenging Stott technique class. I have always appreciated their organization and cleanliness. Most recently I had a flood of life changes that prevented me from using my unlimited monthly class package. I reached out to the studio and explained my situation and they were so understanding and fully refunded me. I'm sad I wont be able to take class with Sarah and Danielle but hope to be back one day soon. I'd recommend Core Reform to all levels. After trying several pilates studios over the past year and a half in the Newport Beach/Costa Mesa/ Irvine area, Core Reform is my favorite " go to " pilates studio which has 2 locations~ one in Westcliff and the other outside fashion island. I love all the instructors particularly because each one has such a unique style so I get a different workout every time I come. After every workout, I ALWAYS walk away on a high. My one complaint is the studio doesn't send out reminder emails of when your classes are like other studios or gyms do. Frustrating especially because it's such a pain to log in and out of the studios scheduling system to see. There's also not an easy way to cancel a class so that's super annoying as well. I can't say enough good things about this place, I think that their instructors are amongst the best in the industry. How do I know that.... it's because of the results, the way that my body feels after a class and how I can see my body changing quickly. I feel like core reform has been the single answer to building my core body strength and really giving me the body that I want. They don't run through instructors quickly; I've had the same people working out with me for nearly the entire length of time that I have been working out here. The instructors are really interactive and super informative. I love how easy it is to buy classes and book online; if you have any questions you always get answers back really quickly. The way that the business was handled during the entire Covid shut down and all of their safety measures that they took when they were able to be open were just amazing and really made working out there feel super safe. I should add that the place is always kept spotlessly clean and so are all of the reformers. This is a great place overall, easy to park and centrally located!! read more

I was in town for work and booked a class ahead of time. First of all - their address in yelp and Apple maps directs you to the wrong place. I'm somewhat familiar with that area but still couldn't find the place. My co-worker and I called for clarification (around 5:55 am) and no answer (although she was sitting at the desk next to the phone when we arrived). Finally some nice man waiting for Kean coffee to open said he thought it might be across the street. We finally got there, with a minute to spare and the instructor wasn't all that nice. She was sure to let us know we would be starting right away, as if we were purposely disregarding the class start time. When I let her know the directions were wrong she was completely unapologetic and just said, "yeah, I don't know how to fix that. She hurriedly showed us how to use the reformer (this was maybe my second time) and when she sent us to our reformers she said "Maddie (my co-worker), you're on #4 and your friend is on 12" as if I wasn't standing right there, didn't have a name and was assuming we are buddies taking a class. Unimpressed with her lack of checking in (knowing it's our first class) and not acknowledging us when we left with a "thanks for coming ... how did you like it?" Won't be back and wouldn't refer any of my friends who live in the area. read more

Based off traditional Pilates, the reformers are very similar to what you would see in a one-on-one classic Pilates lesson. There are lots of different apparatuses, which has positives (lots of different moves to do) and negatives (even if you are familiar with the machine there is a lag time in between moves). I personally did not find the workout very challenging and barely broke a sweat most of the time, although in all fairness I have been doing Pilates for over 7 years. The Level 2 classes are better, and if you go a lot and learn the exercises more you might be able to move faster through the transitions thus being able to push a little harder. If you are new to Pilates this studio is GREAT and I would highly recommend it! The instructors are ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS and they provided me with modifications and alternative exercises as I went there during a time when I was nursing a small injury in my calf. Very welcoming environment and I don't think anyone would be intimidated, even if you were new to Pilates and/or haven't worked out in a while. The prices are also extremely competitive. In sum: The pros: Competitive pricing Good for beginners Friendly and helpful staff Studio is clean, bright, and conveniently located LOTS of variety in the classes (I never did the same sequence twice in the two weeks I was there) Instructors are very accommodating with modifications and alternative exercises. I really, really, really liked the instructors!!!! The instructors are actually paying attention to what the students are doing and I think the risk of injury is extremely low due to this careful attention. 69 dollar 2 week unlimited special for new students so you can check it out and see for yourself without a huge financial commitment. The cons: Lots of different apparatuses necessitate lots of lag time in between exercises Not as challenging as I'd like. Thus far I have been diligent about coming to the Pilates classes. Basically 5-6 times a week. Instructors Kelly and April are amazing. I have seen my body change immensely since I joined. I have been to 20 classes so far and I see the difference in muscle tone and definition. True it's pricey but my body is worth it. Sure I can buy some DVD and attempt to do mat Pilates at home but I know that I would more than likely slack off. The use of the reformer is so much better. I feel amazing after a class and I feel like crap when I miss. The hours are great I just wish that they would offer Saturday classes starting at 7 am. I have to be at the salon at 9 so unfortunately have to miss Saturday classes. They do offer deals so check the website. If you try phoning and they do not answer that is more than likely because they are in the middle of class. Check the website for info if that is all that you are phoning for or swing by. First time classes for newbies is $15. Trust me I started out that way and now I am hooked! The studio is modern and clean and if you are looking for private lessons they do offer those as well. read more

I have been a member of Core Reform Pilates for a solid 3-4 months now. My body is drastically more toned and stronger than ever! The classes have also helped trimmed down my waistline. (But there is always room for improvements) I remember after my first Level 1 class, I thought: piece of cake!... I even wrote an email to complain how I wasn't challenged enough. I was then told to try out a Level 2 class and to inform my instructor that it's my first class so she could correct my form and positioning. In that Level 2 class, I took the advice and boy was I in for a surprise. I was instructed to tuck here, use this muscle rather than that, level the pelvis, isolate certain parts of the body, to focus on engaging the core throughout the workouts... Surely I was sweating, huffing and puffing by the end of the class. It burned everywhere and the burn feels so good! After that experience, I alternate Level 1 & 2 depending on what fit my schedule and was more mindful of my form. Each and every class I get my ass kicked. The more you flex your feet, point your toes, sink your torso, elevate your chest, and just push yourself to concentrate on your form in every exercise, you will maximize the benefits. Coordination is definitely required. Every instructor have been the most helpful with tips and advice of how to improve. They are full of experience and knowledge and always change up the routines to keep us challenged. I still feel as if I am learning more each and every class. I know now which muscles are my weak ones, so I target those areas at the gym outside of Pilates. What to expect: Newport housewives that all seem to know each other. Women of all ages. Clean facility with all sorts of gadgets to support the workout routine. Feeling of tightening and toning in all areas women would care about especially abs, obliques, arms, inner and outter thighs, quads, legs. Stretching in between every exercise. Engaging/tucking in the core outside of class like while driving. Yes, try it! I definitely recommend this place to all my friends and family . I am writing this review hopefully for the studio/instructors to see. I have been doing pilates for two years. I appreciate the group rate of this studio for new members. The instruction has been hit or miss. I wish the teachers focused more on form and getting into each exercise correctly. A lot can go wrong if you don't know what you're doing. The focus seems more on trying to pack as much into the workout rather than precise, strong movement. The teachers walk you part way into a pose, but don't take it all the way through to completion. I often have to ask questions during class because it is so confusing and when I look at the students, they are all doing something different. I think once there is more uniform teacher training, this studio would get a five star rating from me. I also feel that the floors and machines are dirty. I wonder how often they deep clean the studio space. I would recommend this place to a friend for the amazing new member rate, but I wouldn't attend here long term because of the reasons mentioned above. read more
