My first time at a Studio X and I really liked the Costa Mesa location! First pro: parking is super easy and free!!! Secondly, the instructor came up to us and asked us about any modifications needed. I thought that was nice because believe it or not, not a lot of instructors take this initiative to go up to students. Sophia was really kind and helped us with our posture and form throughout the class. The machines were clean and easy to use. This was my first time using the tower and I enjoyed it! Her class flow was so good and I felt like I got a very balanced workout because we worked on everything. The beginner class is still challenging for me so it's gonna be a while before I move up a level haha. Music: it was kind of like EDM? I really liked it. And yes they have a bathroom! When I first told the team I was pregnant on a prior visit, they noted it in my profile, so today when I walked in the front desk immediately handed me a wedge pillow without me even asking -- such a thoughtful and caring touch. I had seen Studio X all over social media and decided to try a class. While it wasn't exactly my style, the studio is cute and the instructor was sweet. I later brought a client for her very first Pilates class. Unfortunately, the instructor offered little to no modifications, and the spring load felt much too heavy for some of the moves. I also wasn't a fan of the Styrofoam box compared to the traditional hard boxes used at most studios. I took the Full Body X Burn class with Rashika at Studio X. The studio is tucked inside a business park, and had plenty of parking - rare compared to many CM studios I've visited. Both the front desk associate and Rashika were incredibly welcoming and helpful, especially since it was my first time there. I loved the ambiance, as they had darker walls, dim lighting, and neon signs with encouraging phrases to set the tone, along with a great playlist of chill and lo-fi EDM. The class had about 7 students, creating an intimate and cozy atmosphere. Rashika was helpful during the session, offering form corrections and motivating each of the students individually, which I really appreciated. I'll definitely be back and look forward to trying out more instructors. Tips about the studio: - grip socks are required - they have a water refill station, but you need bring your own bottle and sweat towel. - One restroom - no showers. read more

I was a member for about a year and went twice a week, so my body really got used to the routine and I genuinely enjoyed the classes. The instructors and workouts were solid, and I saw progress over time. However, the pricing changes have been really disappointing. I originally paid $170 for 8 classes with a 3-month commitment, but then it jumped to $280 for a 6-month commitment. I checked again recently and saw it dropped to $200, but that's still a big increase from what I started with. I understand that everything is getting more expensive, but for a class that's not even a full hour, it's hard to justify the cost. I'd honestly consider coming back if prices were closer to the $180-185 range, but right now it just doesn't feel worth it. read more

It just so happened that there were only 2 of us at the Saturday 6am session, so I was given ample patience and coaching for my first time on the reformer. I definitely recommend this class for folks who are intimated to try out pilates. read more

My FAVORITE studio in all of Orange County, hands down. I started attending Studio X about two years ago when I discovered them on ClassPass. I was immediately hooked from the jump! Any time I would try out a new studio, it so rarely ever compared to the experience I would have here. I always found myself booking a class at least twice a week, and it would always be my first studio of choice if it lined up with my schedule. I love so many of the instructors here, namely Sara K.,, Alex R., Angela J., Loreen N., Tiffany N., and (of course) the amazing owner Amanda. I have had a couple of teachers that I found to be alright, but you just need to find the right one you vibe with. Definitely recommend booking any of the instructors I previously mentioned for your first visit, especially Sara & Alex! Sara was my first instructor here and is a huge proponent on why I continued to come back. The point of the review is this: I have converted from an avid ClassPass user to an unlimited membership solely to Studio X. There is no other Pilates studio for me, period. All the money I was shelling out on ClassPass for extra credits was silly when I realized I'd get a better bang for my buck buying directly from the studio. In turn, I'd also get to fully support a small business and instructors I love. I'm writing this in hopes that other ClassPass users who love this studio will eventually convert like I did because this place deserves every penny. I love the care that Amanda has put into this business; everything from the vibe/aesthetic, the playlists, the equipment, the quality instructors, the friendly front desk, the cleanliness upkeep, etc. My only "complaints" if you could call it that is it would be cool if members received special perks like a free monthly guest pass. I also like that they have their own app for booking classes, although it would be helpful to view all studios at the same time instead of individually when booking. Otherwise, I am extremely happy with my decision and will be committing to this studio for all my Pilates needs! After having a bad experience at their Orange location, I wanted to try out their Costa Mesa location. Unfortunately, I also did not have a great experience. When purchasing passes and booking classes on their Studio X app, there are no disclosures or disclaimers about their rules and policies. See the attached screenshots for the information Studio X provides when you try to purchase a drop in class here vs another studio. You also can't find their policy information anywhere else on the app, by the way. So, you can imagine my confusion when I unfortunately was late to my class and got hit with both a late fee and later learned that I lost my original class credit when that policy wasnt disclosed at the time of purchase. I received an email receipt about the late fee, which I accepted even though it wasn't disclosed. However, to lose my class credit without this being disclosed at the time of purchase feels extremely shady. I called the location to try to ask for clarification, since I didn't initially understand that my class credit was lost. No one picked up and they instead responded via text. I kindly explained my situation, and asked for a one-time courtesy exception since their policies weren't disclosed and I am currently trying to find a new studio in the area. They refused to listen and accommodate. It's wild to me how apparent their lack of care and understanding is for their clients, but I'm not surprised considering the review I just read about how dirty they handled one of their pregnant clients. I wish I would've read the reviews before trying to give Studio X another chance at a different location. Overall, my experience at both locations is that I was not met with inviting, friendly and understanding staff who want to help support you during your Pilates journey. These experience give the impression that these studios are trendy cash-grabs that have no real mission or purpose in providing quality Pilates sessions. I have reached out directly to their support email for an explanation and a follow up as of 11/25. This review will be updated if there is a resolution from the studio for these issues. read more

I got to go here for a complimentary pilates class and wow this kicked my butt! The reformer pilates takes a little time to get used to especially because it has so many different functions and you have to learn how to use it to fully feel on top of the workouts. I just took a class with Jessica, in the middle of class in front of other students, she asked me if I was pregnant. I am not pregnant. I just finished treatment for stage 2 breast cancer and am slowly getting back to my workout routine. In 1 year I went from a six pack and the strongest I have been, to recovering from cancer. The insecurities from an aggressive cancer treatment are overwhelming and coming back to activities I love, such as Pilates, is difficult both emotionally and physically. Asking that question in front of other students in the middle of class is wildly unprofessional. If body inclusivity if important for you, this is not the spot. *EDIT* Studio X reached out to try and offer a free class and a $30 merch gift card as compensation, I declined. I wasn't looking for free stuff. This was my response. Thank you for your message and for offering a complimentary class and gift card. I appreciate the gesture, but I would like to respectfully decline. I didn't share what happened with Jessica in hopes of receiving anything in return. I shared it because asking someone if they're pregnant, especially in the middle of a class, is incredibly personal and, frankly, disappointing. It may seem like a harmless comment, but it can be deeply painful depending on what someone is going through. What if she had asked that question to someone who had recently miscarried or who had been struggling with infertility? Everyone's bodies and journeys are different, and that diversity should be seen, honored, and celebrated, especially in a space meant to support women, wellness and healing. Finishing treatment for stage 2 breast cancer, my body and mind has been through more than words can express. I've been going to Studio X 3-4 times a week for the past year and have always loved their classes--until recently. I showed up on time to a class labeled "Power Sculpt," not realizing it was a jumpboard class (something that isn't mentioned in the title). At 24 weeks pregnant, I was told I couldn't participate due to safety concerns, which I completely understood. What I didn't understand was being told I would be marked as a "no show" and CHARGED a fee, despite being there on time and ready for class. No alternative class time was offered, the fee wasn't waived, and customer service never followed up after I reached out. It was a really disappointing experience after being such a consistent client. I hope they reconsider how they handle these situations--especially for loyal members and expectant mothers just trying to stay active safely. read more

The reformer level XX class is truly insane. I couldn't do all the moves and I am rarely challenged this hard in a Pilates class! The employees are all so kind and welcoming for my first class. You can tell the instructor, Jessica, truly enjoys what she does and she continually provided pointers on form for everybody. The vibe and music of the studio kept my energy up and my eyes on the prize (getting through the class). I enjoyed getting my sweat on with Studio X and can see myself coming back! This is a wonderful studio. I've taken classes at several Pilates studios in Costa Mesa and Irvine and this studio is my favorite. All the instructors are warm, welcoming and encouraging. I discovered Studio X Pilates on classplass when I was looking for a nearby workout and the studios I usually go to were fully booked. Their classpass credit value was higher than other similar studio types, meaning they are more expensive than their competitors. The studio was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. The interior was bright, too bright... in the sense that the sun was hitting my eyes during the work out. There are 9 reformer machines, meaning pilates classes are limited to 9 students. Grip socks required, which is normal of pilates reformer classes for safety. They also asked that you bring a yoga mat. I arrived a little early as usually to new studios to sign off their waivers and things. The smell of the candle they were burning was awful. The class took off to a bumpy start with one of the other students not knowing the yoga mat rule. The studio did not have ANY mats. Honestly mats are so cheap to have a few on hand to at least rent out. They gave that student these lame weird pads that would take like 8-10 to make a mat length but they gave her like 4 pads. Whatever that student messed up or can't read. The part that annoys me is when we began to stretch and literally the limited space of the studio in between the pilates machine made it impossible to do some of those stretches. Look at my photo of the interior. What a mess. And not to mention we could have really done those stretches on the reformer and gotten in better deeper stretches. So annoying... The overall flow of class was not cohesive and the instructor was even saying she had more time than she had intended left over and we did some more random stuff. And we were only given one wipe to clean up when there was a bunch of equipment/surface area touched. Almost like they're doing it for compliance and not actually cleaning. This studio is really close to my office but I don't plan on coming back. After a long day of work I finally get some time to unplug and work out, I really don't want to deal with this chaotic energy. For a studio that charges MORE I am expecting a cohesive amazing work out. Not whatever mess I had to deal with. read more

Tried reformer pilates for the first time with Studio X and loved every minute! The instructor, the speed, the intensity were all perfect for a beginner. The moves were the right amount of challenging, and I loved that it was full body so we got a glimpse into all the possibilities with a reformer. The aesthetics of this studio are great as well- very clean, modern decor, and my favorite part - the lights! Time passed by so fast here. OMG this place is so awesome. I had one class with Amanda during the 1st week. I was a zombie and in bed all day Sat till 6pm (yeah I am outta shape!). Sore calves, inner thighs, butt, abs, arms! Amazing. She is a killer! But more than that she can grow your butt! Get a bigger toned ass!!! Excited for this. BE A BAD ASS WITH A TONED ASS! My fave classes are the power stretch (so needed), ASS class, Cardio Jump, etc. Since I was such a slug during COVID, trying to get my self back into it with level 1 classes. The studio has 9 ALLEGRO machines so far. Feels like the Rolls Royce or Bentley of Pilates machines. Fully equipped with all the accessories, bells and whistles. The music playlists are also killer! Amanda is a seasoned instructor with over 10 yrs experience. I met her a few years ago at LA Fitness Signature. Any class with her, you are sweating and your muscles are made to be SO sore! But besides that she has such a great personality, sense humor, makes things so fun! She has a detailed eye to correct your position and bring out the best in your workout. Her work ethic and customer service is stellar. She is quick to respond, answer questions and resolve. Seriously, if you are looking for a body transformation, this is the place! Studio X is the BEST! I took a few intro classes at some other pilates studios, but Studio X has them beat in every single category! The studio itself is always super clean, we wipe everything down after each class and they're always sweeping the floors in between classes. The studio is also pretty intimate with only 11 reformers in each class. They have the best music playing and neon lights that really set the vibe for a fun workout! Parking is never an issue, it's in a small little complex that has tons of parking. I love that they have a variety of different classes and levels. Since I'm still super new to pilates, I only take their Reformer X (level 1) class which is a great foundation building class. Each instructor always provides different progression options if you want something more challenging, or they provide alternatives if you need something less challenging. If you're brand new to pilates, I recommend taking Winter Gentry's class! She takes things slow and really focuses on form while still giving a variety of progressions in case you need that extra push! I was super intimidated at first, but she really walks you through everything! They also have the best pricing compared to any other studio. They're affordable, which is great for any college student! read more

This is the same review posted on the Irvine location's page. But I wanted to add an *interesting* note. Maybe this review will get deleted like another 1-star review on the other page says happened. But it's fascinating how, after a 1-star review was shared on 10/14/24, the page received multiple 5-star reviews a few days later. When, up until that point, reviews over the course of the year were rather sporadic. Hopefully honest reviews sharing struggle points are not intentionally getting buried. Long story short: Studio X's "Customer Service Squad" is severely lacking in said customer service. When I copied the owner onto an email thread on 10/16/24 "to bring to her attention the multiple delays in response times in the past 14 days since my initial email was sent" and to "please freeze my account for the month of November," I was met with silence. To further solidify my point, my card was charged on 11/1. As of today, 11/4/24, I have not heard back from the owner nor anyone in customer service. Long story long: To clarify, I initially emailed on 10/3, so it was a 13-day ordeal between my first email and last (instead of 14 as quoted in my email above). I heard back on 10/5 and replied the same day. I then followed up 5 DAYS LATER, on 10/10, because I had not yet heard back. I got a response and replied again on 10/10. I waited 6 ADDITIONAL DAYS for the company's next reply. I could not be more clear on what I was asking and, yet, reading comprehension was lacking so we were going in circles. I replied the same day as their last incoming correspondence, on 10/16, which is where this story ends. As mentioned above, my last email was NOT ACKNOWLEDGED and, clearly, my request to have my account frozen for this month was IGNORED. (To be clear: I am not shouting with the caps, but simply highlighting key details to make this review easier to read.) As an aside, I found it strange but noteworthy that their previous communication replies were signed off by an individual but the last email was simply signed "Studio X Customer Service Squad" All in all, I wholeheartedly stand by my conclusion in my email sent to the studio owner and Customer Service Squad on 10/16: "Lastly, it should go without saying that the fact this took two whole weeks to "resolve" is a bit outrageous as far as timeliness in business practices go. I hope, for all clients present and future, the Squad is more responsive and communicates within acceptable timeframes." 11/5/24- response to studio owner's reply Amanda Jane- Thanks for your reply. For reference, the email account I added to the thread on 10/16 was pulled directly from your instagram profile, so hopefully it's more closely monitored so that future communications aren't sitting unanswered. This, however, does not address the fact that my email was also completely overlooked by the Customer Service Squad. I filed a dispute with my financial institution as soon as the unauthorized charge was posted- accompanied by screenshots of email communication clearly stating to freeze my account- so I am confident I would have received the funds back regardless of the refund that was processed. Nonetheless, thank you for doing that within hours of my initial review posting. As for the "multiple concessions" made for me outside of general company policy, I am not sure what you are referring to. I searched through ALL of my previous communications and saw that ONE such concession was offered since I started attending classes in November 2023. The last week of March, I canceled a regularly attended Friday class because I was notified that there would be a sub. I immediately joined the waitlist for another Friday class and, with the studio closed for Easter that Sunday, I asked if my one remaining class for the month could "roll over" to April if I did not get off the waitlist. Monique replied, "This one time, due to the holiday and sub inconvenience, I can extend the class to April 2nd..." Luckily, I got off the waitlist and did NOT need the extension. As far as concessions go, that was it. No other concessions have been made to accommodate me. While I understand that the company is prohibited from discussing memberships of other clients, I simply stated that I had screenshots of emails and records from the financial institution provided by my friend. I, too, would appreciate further dialogue as this incident is not the first time I have waited over a week for an email reply. The ball's in your court! read more

Four stars for the workout, minus one for the price ==== This class absolutely kicked my ass. Idk if it's cuz I was wearing a tank and a loose shirt, but I definitely died during this class. Workout I've been bouncing around different pilates reformer classes, and this place really gives you a workout. I forget that in group sessions, it's a bit awkward to groan not in the comfort of your home, but I certainly had to learn to not be so vocal here. For a noob like me, Erin was very technical and explained how to properly align yourself, which is always helpful. She went through many details and repositioned you if necessary. CLEAN STUDIOOO This studio was clean, I enjoyed that there were 2 mirrors on both sides of the room so that you can see exactly what you're doing, and the club lighting was very aesthetic. She gives you a wipe when the class is done to clean up your nasty Music A small qualm for me was the music. This is more subjective, as I typically workout to edm/faster rap - but other studios I went to had slightly more upbeat hard music. It was a teensy on the chill side for you to really "push yourself" in a different manner. I do wish the music was a tad more upbeat. Price Though I think really liked the workout, I prolly won't come back unless it's on classpass/Groupon. A month unlimited here is $250, pretty ballin' if you were to commit to a years worth of sweat ^^; read more

Studio X has got to be one of my favorite pilates studios! The lighting and the "be a bada$$ w/ a toned a$$" sign instantly make me feel ready to take on any workout. There's nothing quite like a good POWER STRETCH class to wind down after a long day, or a session of A$$ and ABS to challenge the core and booty. Natalia and Jordan are amazing instructors and both super sweet. Classes are almost ALWAYS full so recommend booking early especially for the popular classes. For those booking via ClassPass, the trick is to sign up for notifications/waitlist so you can score a spot when others cancel. Can't wait to come back for more classes! read more
