Okay, besides the merits of trying to offer a vegan option, there is no reason to give more than two stars. I think my wife and (my non vegan) daughter would have given it one star. I'm not vegan, not even close, so since they had a Turkey sandwich, I thought I could make it work for lunch for my daughter trying to go vegan and the rest of my carnivores. My wife and I had the Turkey sandwich. My wife hated it and i thought it was just fine, but $11 for a very plain Turkey sandwich on wheat is what hurt me the most. The mating on that sandwich must be 91% as there is no way the ingredients cost more than $1. My daughters got a Mexican-Quinoa bowl and the other got the white bean burger. I thought they were fine too, but my non-vegan daughter didn't care for the bowl. Nothing to write home about and the place is not very nice inside either. I would not recommend it. read more

Their food is really great when prepared normally but are seriously extremely inconsistent, sadly that is why I gave 2 stars. They run low on many ingredients and don't let you know if they don't have it, so sometimes you can get a salad or sandwich and then find out an ingredient is missing or even has different sauce, if it's bad enough your money is wasted, not to mention that it takes about an hour for them to make your food, even if it's simple. Eventually it gets to the point where you don't want to go anymore because of how finicky it is, this doesn't operate like a business should. read more

I really like Living Foods because a lot of the time I find it hard to get a healthy meal in Oxford because it's a big place for "Southern cooking", so this place is a breath of fresh air. It's nice to walk around Lamar Park, which is just across the street, and then come in for a healthy lunch. I had the grilled chicken sandwich, and the aioli they put on it was just so good, and they always offer a side of fresh fruit if you'd like. The only criticism I have is that the service is often slower than other restaurants in the area because they do not have many people on staff, but they have outdoor seating, which makes up for it. I have yet to buy anything from their frozen section, but I am always tempted every time I stop in for lunch. read more

Once my friend walked in and tried to order the lady with dark hair looked up and rudely mumbled "it's going to be a 40 minute wait". So, I know we are coming out of a pandemic and that help is short. I can't really say that has anything to do with my review today. It was just bad service...bad service that contributed to bad food. We placed a phone order and drove for pick-up. I arrived ten minutes before our order was to be ready. Upon arrival we decided to add two items to our order. So, we added two things, an egg sandwich and a smoothie. The original order of a green smoothie and turkey melt came up after about ten minutes. Then the wait began. Thirty minutes later with everyone who had come in after us seated and served we were still waiting on our second half of the to-go order. It wasn't like the place was packed. We were conspicuously seated by a window waiting. The staff never really paid attention until I finally walked to the register to ask where our food was. Meanwhile the original green smoothie had sat melting away. The woman behind the register said it would be up momentarily. It was obvious then that they had completely forgotten about us. So, our original order for my wife and other daughter sat waiting thirty minutes. Finally we get our remaining items for the order. A mild apology came with it and no thought was given to the fact that our other to-go food had been sitting for so long. We left and brought the other items home to my wife and daughter - a now melted smoothie and a turkey melt that was supposed to have bacon jam on it but was not prepared as it was described. Bad service, inconsiderate, bad food. Maybe we are a one off situation. Buyer beware. read more

If you're in no hurry you should choose this place! The staff seem to have no drive to get your food out in a hurry and has consistently done this over the past year. I enjoy their smoothie bowls, but the service is absolutely terrible. 50 minutes for an acai bowl ordered online ahead of time is just not worth it and I will probably choose another location for a bowl from here on out after this experience... very disappointed and still hungry. read more

Well, Living Foods provides organic and/or local products. Great!! I live on College Hill, so I love that I can stop by and pick up a few small things when I don't want to make that horribly long drive to Walmart, or better yet -- Kroger (cause everyone in Oxford knows, 3 miles is just WAAAYYYY too far!). Typical prices of organic products. If you are going to stop by, be sure to pick up a cheesecake in their fridge. I believe its.. Mauthe's Cheesecake? (starts with an M...) Its from a local farm in MS, and OMG! GET THOSE STRETCH PANTS AND NETFLIX READY... IT'S SO GOOD! I've had lunch here a couple of times now, and I'm not too impressed. Their black bean burger was dry, and their pasta salad had too much acidity going on. Bleh. Smoothies! I have the Berry something or other. Can't remember the name anymore. Tasted fresh, but not as sweet as Smoothie King (makes sense though -- its natural stuff!). Their smaller size was $8-9ish, so it cost a pretty penny. I will probably continue coming here to get small groceries or to grab things out of their fridge/freezer, but not so much for the burger. read more

Delicious hippie food - I try to make a trip here every time I'm in Oxford - it is a little pricey but the fare is deliciiis and feels pretty healthy. Was in the area for work and am SO glad this place exists! Had the Beet & Quinoa burger and the muddy monkey smoothie (or something like that). Both were awesome! Didn't mind the prices as I'm from California and used to that, but they did seem steep for the area. Hope that doesn't turn too many people away... Anyway, it is WELL worth paying the price for the quality. They make the burger patties in house, to order. That is pretty special and a quality that is tough to find anywhere. The only two critiques I have are: 1 - I wish it stayed open later.... would make a killing Saturday night especially, and 2 - the staff could have been a bit friendlier. Normally the people who work in places like this are super amped on the mission (as they should be). That energy is contagious so it would be great to put that out there! read more

My daughter had the turkey melt on a GF bun, it was excellent. I had the avocado toast with fried egg on top & GF bread, it was tasty but a very small portion and didn't fill me up. This place is excellent. I visited for the first time today just to see what it was all about. There aren't many options for gluten free and dairy free food in Oxford, so I was hoping I had found a good one. They have so much! Great variety - baking goods, dry foods, frozen foods, refrigerated foods, and even a cafe! Things aren't TOO expensive, but are a little on the pricey side. The staff lady was very nice and friendly. I would definitely recommend. The only reason for 4/5 stars is that it's such a small location! Expanding would definitely be good. read more

Living Foods in Oxford is wonderful. It's a tiny place (for now, hopefully), but has a great number of healthful products (think Annie's organic / gluten-free mac n cheese). The perfect place for pre-made organic and local meals (freezer), and apparently juice and lunch, though I haven't eaten in. They carry grass-fed beef and chicken (all delicious, though I do wish they'd support more locally-owned farms) and some local produce. *IF YOU ARE GLUTEN-FREE* this place is necessary. They have a great selection of gluten free boxed products and Against the Grain Gourmet's breads and frozen pizzas (the best). Hope these guys continue to advertise more and expand (especially after the name change!). And they're so friendly, too. :) read more

Went there a few days ago and had a wonderful fried egg sandwich. Waited about 15 minutes. There were only 3 or 4 people in there. Went back today for a smoothie bowl and waited a full hour for a smoothie bowl. There were 8-10 other people and everyone was waiting. It's like the staff was moving in slow motion. The restaurant poses as a healthy, organic option in order to charge way too much. For two slices of wheat toast and an avocado, you could pay rent. The shakes are also a scam. For essentially spinach and water, you pay around $10 for a small. The owner, Melodie, also has a pretentious and self-righteous attitude. She is a hipster who believes she is better than everyone because she has a "healthy" restaurant. Prepare to not be welcomed when you walk in the door. If you don't know the latest health fad like dehydrated enriched gluten-free organic, dairy-free, edible wood chips, then prepare to be berated and sent to McDonald's. read more

Excellent menu. Healthful ingredients and superfoods. I would give it 5 stars except the staff members can be rude and exceptionally slow. The owner is kind and hard working but her staff act as if you are doing them a favor by shopping there. Even a pickup order can lead to a 30-45 minute wait once you arrive, and they make frequent mistakes at checkout, overcharging and giving incorrect change. But, if you have the time, the wait is worth it. Go for an acai smoothie bowl, a mexican quinoa bowl, or a lentil mushroom burger. You can also splurge on sweet magnolia gelato for dessert. We stopped here while traveling through Oxford. We are a dairy free, gluten free, organic eating family and this place not only fit the bill but was absolutely delicious. My kids loved it. Service was excellent. Food was yummy and didn't take very long to get to us. This cafe is also a little store, so if you need organic snacks or goods, there are a few things available you might not be able to get elsewhere in Oxford.
