If you are going know that it is not put on by a hypnosis but actually her sister who is extremely nervous and confused. She is very uncomfortably and all over the place. She constantly brings something up and then states we'll get to that later. She calls men in the audience a "Hot Mess" and refers to her partner as a hot mess. Talks about how they would get into fights every night and then she would drive home angry. Very irrelevant. She even talked about how her sister, the actual hypnotist was now living with her. And also stated that her sister was not better than her. I think she was trying to be funny, but came across as nervous and unsure of herself. In addition the room was freezing and no one could relax during the taped hypnosis readings. Her sisters tapes were fairly good, but played so loudly that her voice was not relaxing. I would estimate that no one was actually hypnotized due to the sister's "HOT MESS" she created. She was a nice person and I'm sure meant well, so I don't want this to reflect directly on her. She is just in the wrong business. Family business. I'm thinking her sister (the hypnotist) is trying to help her out. Family helping family, but it's not helping us, and wasted our money. We left half way through the night, so it may have improved as the night went on. Sad part was that my daughter was so looking forward to the experience and hoped to lose weight. read more

"If I could use negative stars, I would! Living Lite is a total rip off! Over the years, I have used hypnosis many times with great results. I truly believe in hypnosis and was very excited about starting their $1,600 weight loss program. After my very first session, my excitement had turned to frustration. Not only was it not relaxing, but I felt more stressed and hungry after the session, which I know should not happen. I contacted Katie Evans who offered a full refund if I returned the program binder. That week, I went to meet Katie for the return and she insisted that I had not given the program a chance to work and asked that I stick with it a few weeks, assuring me I would still get a refund if I was not satisfied. I was very hesitant but figured I would trust her and give it another shot. The next classes were even more frustrating than the first! The "instructor" was very unprofessional and made comments repeatedly to new hirer of the company about how anyone could lead the class and no experience was needed for hypnosis. After a particularly terrible class where another person in the program made incredibly offensive sexist and racial remarks, I had had more then enough. I again contacted Katie about a refund, but this time was met with hostility. She accused me of making up excuses and using my work schedule as a reason I wanted out, neither of which was true. She then said that her rate was $125 an hour and that I was way over the $1600 I had paid but she would be 'giving' me a $500 refund if I stopped contacting her. I was so hurt as she initially came across as someone who wanted to help me. It feels like as soon as she had my money in hand, she could care less what happened to me. I was so insulted and hurt but I agreed to take the money, even though she had completely lied to me and ripped me off. If any of you are seriously looking at this program, I hope that you have money to burn and don't expect to see results. It's funny, I read the above posts and they kinda sounded like commercials... "famous last 25 lbs?" I believe it's 10 lbs. The wording is a bit suspect and if you've met Katie you would agree. The program was conducted in a room facing huge windows which omit lots of light. It was a bit distracting and hard to achieve deep meditation. The chairs actually hurt my back to the point where I had to lay on a heating pad last night to get to sleep. It was a three hour workshop also, I don't have back problems. This made it really hard to focus. When we broke to take a walk and move around they tried to sell us CD's, $1 bottles of warm water and $1 packets of 1oz almonds. They couldn't spring for a $4 case of water? They had to profit off of the resale of water and almonds? They are that cheap? I really think it was tacky and it should have been free. I mean they do make money off of word of mouth. We were offered some ideas for healthy living but it was too disconnected. She gave a loose interpretation of a way to "eat healthy" which to me sounded like a diet in disguise. Also, maybe it's me, but I felt as though the program as a whole was disjointed and very ambiguous. She told me not to make my kids eat vegetables. How are they supposed to get vitamins? Clearly this woman does not have children. She is Greek though, she kept referring back to it. Katie also said she had some ways to exercise for people in pain but never went over them. Needless to say, I have no clue what happened yesterday. I also have no room to criticize anyone's body shape what so ever but she is supposed to be promoting a healthy life and way of eating. She wore a dress that showed sores on her legs. Her skin was over exposed to the sun. Lastly, her arms were very loose with little to no muscle. The skin looked like it was a result of loosing weight too quickly. Forgive me if she has a health problem but ultimately, you are supposed to be selling your self and product. Cover it up, we can still see your thin. That's like a hairdresser with bad hair. She never listed any accreditation she had so I'm thinking she took what she learned in a class and regurgitated back to us. She didn't actually command us with a live voice, she played a prerecorded CD. Again, pretty tacky. Personally, I would never pay another cent to this traveling roadshow. That was three hours of my life, and $30 that I will never get back. read more

I attended the Jan 21st class in the U District. The "hypnotist" Marilynn arrived about 10 min late (no biggie) but started out by telling us how sick she had been, in bed for the last 5 days, but made a point of showing up for this class. About an hour into the presentation and after 1 hypnosis session, she announced that she was too sick to continue and the class collectively agreed to stop and reschedule. One person mentioned they weren't getting much out of it (since the presenter was clearly struggling to get through the class). I felt bad for the presenter, but wished the class was canceled in advance and hoped whatever the illness was (presumably the flu) wasn't too contagious. We all left being assured we would each be getting a phone call (one attendee mentioned the presenter Marilynn also had our emails) and that our class would be rescheduled. Fast forward 1 month. No call or no email re: rescheduling the class. I could have contacted them sooner, but gave time in case the illness was more serious. Finally emailed 5 days ago expressing disappointment not getting any kind of follow up. No response, but plenty of regular spam emails 2x a week since signing up. Our 1 hour waste of a partial class inconvenienced every person that PAID and adjusted their schedule to be there. We weren't attending a concert or seeing a movie. I believe everyone there had hoped the class/session would help them with weight loss struggles, and were let down. Stay away from this SHAM of a program. Unprofessional and disreputable. read more

I was disappointed with the class. The woman who led it was very unorganized and scattered. She would start to say something and in the middle of a sentence she would start talking about something unrelated. She certainly did not provide and atmosphere for relaxation as she was always in a rush so the tapes which should help with the hypnosis were difficult to concentrate on. I have been hypnotized in the past by a hypnotherapist and this experience was nothing like that. The instructor really lacked training for teaching any kid of class. read more

We took the Living Lite weight loss program last Saturday up in Vancouver BC. We were excited to learn something new to this ever challenging goal of becomg more educated in healthy eating. We found the presenter (a family member) of the program unorganized and couldnt wait to usher us out the door. Through the guided meditation is was almost robotic how she led us into relaxation and at the flip of a switch from a cozy feeling lights came on...up you go ...our prgram is done and time to go. we bought this program through groupon and I hate to say I was sadly disappointed. First of all, the class was not managed by an actual hynotherapist, but instead her sister who just played her cassette tape. The sister, while nice, did NOT know what she was talking about, she was hypocritical and unsure of herself. She kept saying, "I'm not saying, but I'm saying" what does that even mean. I understand helping your family out, but at least train the instructors so they can own the information they are speaking about instead of just jumping around telling half stories and saying "we'll get to that later". I think hynosis can really work, but not with someone who is untrained. read more

My friend purchased a package through a discounter (living social, groupon, etc.) The session itself was okay (2 stars). The trainer (Marilynn) was scattered and hard to follow. She seemed very flustered and mentioned on several occasions that she was used to larger crowds (there were only 10 people present). The class was somewhat interesting. At the end of the evening I purchased a package of hypnosis CDs in digital format for "immediate download". I was charged $75 that evening. 6 days later and I am still waiting for my downloads. I have contacted Marilynn multiple times and she apologized and said they were on their way blaming her assistant and computer issues, but 24 hours later I still have nothing. Hard to maintain any momentum from this class if you don't have the materials. I am 10 minutes away from disputing the charge on my credit card. I do not recommend this speaker or this company. UPDATE: WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! After contacting them 3 times for fulfillment on my digital download order and NOT receiving the item, my friend also contacted them. After 6 days Marilynn emailed me and offered a refund blaming her assistant (sister? daughter?) and computer issues for non-fulfillment and said she would email me hard copies of the CDs at no cost. Not trusting her to either issue a refund or provide the downloads or CDs I immediately called my credit card company and put a stop payment on my order. I did not want the CDs, downloads or ANYTHING from this seller I simply wanted my money back. Of course on day 8 I get an email from her saying she knows I am trying to get my money back and that she sent the digital downloads four days earlier. If I would have received the downloads 4 days earlier I would not have sent you multiple emails. Yes, I am trying to get my money back because you didn't send me the downloads! I must be crazy for actually wanting what I paid for. Again, she had several excuses and minutes later I got the link to the downloads (after 8 days). I will NEVER click on that link and download those files. Not after 8 days of aggregation and non-delivery of what I (tried) to pay for. She then sends me a snarky email saying we get what we pay for in life. She is right. When you treat your customers poorly and give them the run around you get a negative yelp review. Treat your customers better. Especially those who are willing to pay you for your services if you will just provide them in a timely manner without us having to email you 4 times for fulfillment! read more

The speaker, Marilyn, seemed hyper, erratic and somewhat aggressive. She kept bringing up personal information that seemed to have nothing to do with the class, contradicting herself, and not finishing statements. During the break she was outside the classroom loudly admonishing someone on the phone. It was all very disjointed, unprofessional and unsettling. read more

My neighbor gave a lead on this place since he signed up to go. I tried to take a class but could not get in at the location closest to my house. That's OK but it took a lot of needless contact to find out why. Too bad the SE Michigan location can't boast the same positive reviews as other locations. Sounds like a great experience - if you don't have to deal with the folks in Clinton Township, Michigan. They claim to have three locations but only allow registration at one and that is online or in person. If you live far from that location it's inconsiderate - not to mention killing business. Very weird and unprofessional hoops to jump through just to get registered for a class. Can't recommend them based on what they put forward as the first impression. This is feeling more like a self serving scam than an honest, well-run business. Hire some one to answer the phone instead of a recording that refers calls back to the website that is useless for people trying to register at other locations. There is no explanation on the website as to why you can't register for other locations. They give the number on the website that no one answers. How's that for absurdity. I would pass on this place and it's just too unprofessional. Don't mean to be unkind or unfair but it's just not coming across at legit or a place you want to do business with. Emails are never signed by a person which is a red flag and they don't want to be identified with their "attitude." Living Lite hypnosis classes has really made a difference in how I have been able to lose weight. Katie does a great job of balancing weight loss information and giving strategies for losing weight. The hypnosis has really helped get my uncontrolled eating in perspective. The hypnosis has helped curb my cravings and binges. So far I have lost 10 pounds without really doing anything more than changing some of my eating habits. My friend and I got lost and showed up 45 minutes late so we missed the 1st "hypnosis" session (guided imagery), but that is not the issue. I was afraid we had missed something very important to help us, but it did not seem so. The leader then brought the group to the next session and we listened to a tape with soft music and a speaker telling us how to "extinguish" cravings for the foods on which we overeat. She talked of how when eating these foods we were to imagine the food was rancid with maggots (also coming out of our mouths, I believe), the smell of baby diapers and sewage dumps. This was to quell our cravings. I found this extremely disgusting! The leader was then sort of peddling more "hypnosis" sessions detailed on the handout complete with the cost of each one.
