If you own a pet you've dealt with the drudgery of having to buy pet food in giant box stores, the supermarket, and pet stores...and if you're lucky enough to have a cool specialty shop near you, maybe that's where you make your purchases. Well, I'm just like the rest of you...however, the folks out in Lafayette, NJ get to shop in one of the coolest pet stores I've ever seen. We passed Living Pawsitively when we shot out to Sussex County to buy our Christmas tree, and the name was enough to get us to stop. To start-this isn't a place to BUY a pet, but a place where you can buy AWESOME gifts for your pets and some really high quality food (one of their promises is that none of the food they sell comes from China). The people working in the store when we were there were really helpful and friendly and I really loved the stuff that didn't seem like it was mass-market crap. Lots of great signs and frames, human and animal clothing (though I am not a fan of dressing up your pets), even things like coffee cups and wine trivets with pet sayings. An in-house Barkery, gifts FOR your pets, and gifts for YOU because you love your pets...this place was really cool and if I lived closer I'd be here for all my dog needs! I will definitely make my way back out there before next Christmas! When we got home our dogs treated us to many kisses after we gave then some doggie cookies. I love, love, love this store. I am always greeted with big smiles from the employees every time I've gone there. They have always been super sweet, friendly, patient and helpful whenever I had questions. They offer free delivery which has been so incredibly helpful to me especially when I am working or running around and can't get over to buy what I need at the store. Will not be shopping here ever again. I went in about 2 weeks ago and was waited on by a very nice woman who told me it was okay to return the dog food I was buying if my dog got sick or didn't like it, as long as I had half of the bag left. I went back today after my dog had a bad episode last night of diarrhea with blood in it to return the bag with over half left and get something different. I was waited on by the most unpleasant woman I have encountered in sometime, she was rude and condescending. The way she spoke to me and the tone she spoke in was much to be desired. She worked Friday morning, so if her boss reads this I'm hoping he/she does something about her. read more

stopped in today for the first time, and was greeted with a smiling face and help right away, I usually go to Petsmart in Newton, but decided to try out this small business. They have a large selection of cat products, actually a whole room for them. Will definitely be making this my go to spot for all my kitty needs. read more

***** UPDATE *** I have received a response from the owner of this establishment that can be read below. I guess I was dreaming when I posted my last review since the owner denied everything. I'm not in the business of bashing anyone, and lying on Yelp is not my thing. There is absolutely no benefit to me in lying about a business. This platform is for people to share experiences -good or bad-with the community. I have worked many years in various jobs and I do know that the old adage "the customer is always right" doesn't always apply, because there are some people who can never be pleased-but I can assure you I am not one of those customers. I stand by my original review. I did not "make up" any of the details of my experience. Now I see that this place not only treated me poorly, they are also incapable of owning up to it, and that is just bad practice. I do not care about your so called glowing google reviews as you mentioned-I have simply reported my experience. The bones in the bin near the register are sold by weight and the prices range from 9-22 $. I know that you sell bones at 20$ because I bought one! Oh Well, if nothing else, I can see that I was right in feeling that this place is less than honest and truly does not stand by their products. And by the way, as an owner, responding on Yelp is a sometimes a good idea, unless you are attacking a reviewer on the platform-or respond by calling them a straight up liar. . It just shows your true colors, and acts as a warning to other potential customers. Big selection-but buyer beware. This store does not issue returns -and if you do manage to beg and plead to return something that did not meet your standards-you are treated like you actually stole something. ( I never managed to get anything returned) I spend a lot on pet supplies I was helped by the manager/owner with the bones. I paid 20$for a bone that she claimed would not chip (my big concern since this can result in a costly surgery). Well, my dog chipped it immediately. I called to tell her if this and she just hurriedly said-"sorry,we don't take returns on treats". Ok-I guess I was duped. I mistakenly gave this overpriced shop a second chance. I wanted to buy a harness for my newly rescued dog, who has gained a little weight since his adoption. I did not have him with me-so I couldn't decide which would fit better-medium or large. The harnesses were on Sale(30% off) I asked if I could return it if it did not fit and the employee said no, unless I charge you full price-then you can return it. Ummm huh? I walked out.These people are not friendly, don't stand behind their merchandise and don't deserve my business. I know one thing that won't return-me. read more

I have two senior cats. They both have issues. Their diet is important. Living Pawsitively always have the bone broth that is critical for their continued health . They introduced me to the N & D canned food which is very good food. I have called in advance and they put my order together or order what I need. Each person I have worked with there - all of the associates and the manager have been pleasant and helpful. I could not be happier with the customer service, the products and the people. Hit or miss. I prefer to support small businesses, but sometimes this place makes it hard. Some employees are nice and helpful; others can be dismissive and moody. I rarely see the owner there. I haven't used their run yet, but it's nice that they offer it. read more

The best place to shop for all your pets needs! They are so knowledgeable with any question of all the products that they carry. The staff is so friendly and they make you feel like they care for your pet like they would if they were their own. Everything they carry is high quality and only the best for your pet! Our go to for all of our fur baby's needs! My husband and I won't shop anywhere else for our dogs food and treats. We are treated like humans when we go in there, and not just another mass online retail customer, which is worth every penny. Plus what we feed our pup is what's most important to us. After years of passing this store and always wanting to go in, I finally went today. Horrible experience. My family and my hound dog went in today to shop and we felt like criminals from the moment we walked in. The staff was not friendly and not helpful at all, we were by the bakery section and not one person came back there to see if we needed help even though we were being watched the entire time we were in the store. There were 3 people standing by the register when you first entered and not one of them greeted you. I found the staff to be rude and I will never shop there again because of how unwelcome we all felt. read more

This store is the most amazing pet supply store that I have ever encountered! It's a 2 story log cabin that is turned into a beautiful pet shoppe, with the most amazing quality and distinct names of pet food around! Everything from custom baked biscuits, toys and pet owner accessories, all without the high-end costs... The pet foods are of the 'top shelf pooch!" as i like to call it, and the prices are so reasonable! There are many sale items, that you would never believe! (when I was there, pet beds were 40 percent off, and some foods were buy 1 get one free!) We love the staff, and they were so knowledgeable on their products, and even looked up comparisons on certain items that I was interested in, since I am the proud owner of a new AKC champion chihuahua puppy, I want only the best for him! From the Natural products for de-worming, to referring me to a holistic veterinarian, I am so pleased that a store like this exists in our area! Of course, I've been to every pet store around the area, and the big names-but nothing even comes close to the customer service, the quality product line and the variety of items that the store carries...i've never seen so much to choose from! I am in dog heaven! I can't wait for my puppy to get older, as there are so many cool products that we will definitely be purchasing for my pet! They offer samples when they are available and there is also literature available for many of the products that they carry! I'm sorry but I continue to maintain that your store rarely, if ever, has any cars In the parking lot. I have stopped there only because I felt a sympathy for your local business. Your prices are outrageous and my animals do not like your food. The best food for animals is Dr. Marty's Premium Dog and Cat food. It is very expensive but the ultimate in pet food. I can only afford it for my cats. Your food line is the same old same old and I can get what you sell at a better price at Chewy.com than at your local store. Your business has been where you are for several years despite an always empty parking lot. I assumed you survived by selling online. None of my pet owning friends shop at your store. What I have purchased from you has gone to Fr. John's Animal Shelter where I hope the animals there enjoyed what mine did not. I do not intend to shop with you again as I feel pressured to buy at least something in a store that never has any customers. It makes me feel awkward and sorry for you. read more

Love love this pet store. If you truly want the best health for your furbabies its worth the drive. Staff is friendly & very knowledgeable and helpful but not sales pushy. They stock great quality products for ALL SIZE furbabies. They carry essentials to fun treats for special pampering. They have lovely fenced land out back for your best buds to stretch legs too! And theres a special Hut out back Santa visits for photos during Holidays. I am so grateful they stock a large variety of bones that are safer for dogs to enjoy. They may seem more money than cheap rawhide but surgery for the gut damage costs even more...so we love their Yak milk bones. Look those up- weird but the dogs go nutty for them. You can buy kibbles to raw food. This store is often helping out local Shelters or Rescues also so we love their good Hearts and enjoy being able to donate to help too. I have been going here on and off for about a year now. Thrilled to have discovered this store. The selection of high quality food for my dogs is absolutely incredible. I love that i'm not chased around the store constantly being hounded with "can we help you", "can we get you anything". I hate that, makes me feel pressured to buy something in stores that do that. I've passed this place a bunch of times and always meant to stop in, but each time I'd drive by, I'd be in a hurry to get to or from somewhere else and would always tell myelf "next time". I greatly regret that I put off my visit to this pet supplies treasure! The building itself is welcoming and just plain cute! Walking in, I had no idea what to expect. So many pet food places feel more like a warehouse with dog stuff and cat stuff just sitting on shelves. Living Pawsitively was so much more... it was as welcoming inside as out. I'm always looking for healthier ways to spoil my two dogs, and this spot offered a wide variety of healthier treats, bones, food and pretty much anything else you could want for your furred and feathered friends. I could have spent a ton of money, but surprisingly, the prices are very reasonable. Sure, they won't compare to the cheap goods you can buy at the grocery store, but you get what you pay for in quality. And this spot has the best of the best at good cost. Not only was the selection awesome, but the customer service was so friendly and helpful. It took me a long time to stop in and visit this store, but it won't be so long before I go back!
