Easy access to Delaware River - bring your tube. Cleanest bathrooms/showers. Great itinerary of activities and events. A very engaged & friendly camping crowd. Crazy how there are lots of campers but still so quiet at night. Pool, kayak/canoe rental, camp store. Only drawback was the shower/bath house closest to our campsite was closed for cleaning from 7-8am every day (which is prime wake & potty time). read more

It's a very nice campground. Beautiful area. Staff is very friendly. IMO - They need to upgrade the electric. We prefer 50 amp. Also- THIS is IMPORTANT- DO NOT leave anything of value outside. It WILL be stollen. Evidently this campground has a reputation of theft. Wish I knew that before I stayed. I get it- the risk you take sorta thing. Will still camp here, we just won't leave anything of value out or over night. Sadly - No campers code of ethics here! Edit: I've been made aware that the campground takes theft very seriously. You should make them aware when something goes missing from your campsite. They log missing items & take steps in trying to find the culprits. Thank you Driftstone for addressing my concerns. I have been camping on and off, at Driftstone for several years. In that time, I can honestly say that I had very different experiences, mostly middle of the road 3 star type of experience. All of this said, we hadn't been to Driftstone in a couple of seasons. I was pleasantly welcomed by someone at the gate. They gave me instructions and I went to the office where I was once again treated very nicely.The campground is extremely clean, the sites are huge and the bathrooms are brand new and maintained in perfect condition. We enjoyed grocery bingo and a ping pong tournament. In addition, there were many other activities that we didn't participate in. They don't have sewer sites, but I can't hold that against them, I don't they can have it. That said they offer pump outs every day. They also offer kayak and raft transports to the Delaware. I recommend Driftstone for your camping adventures. read more

From the late 1970's, to the mid 1980's, our family spent our Summers at Driftstone, on site #50. We had a lot of fun -and a lot of laughs, there. ...So many cherished, priceless memories. I don't know if the photo, taken of me after I caught a large 'Musky' game fish in the Delaware River, at Driftstone [back in 1978(?)], is still hanging inside of Driftstone's general store, which is located inside of the campground's red barn, but that photo 'is' of me with that trophy fish. I felt like a celebrity, the day that I caught that elusive gamefish, while using just a cheap K-Mart fishing rod and reel, and cornmeal, as bait. I kid you -not. I couldn't believe it, either, but it's all true. I was even featured in the Pennsylvania Angler magazine, that year, and in the article, written about my huge catch, it stated; "In typical New York fashion, Chris put his hands into the large, toothy, Musky's mouth, and then threw him up onto the riverbank.", lol. Give your family the opportunity to have many memorable, wonderful, fun (safe) times, at Driftstone. Nice people, there. Fresh air, fun, sun, the crystal-clear Delaware River water -so clear, that you can actually see boulders that are the size of cars, 30 feet below the surface of the river, in its deep areas. It is now 12 years since we camped Driftstone, which was a must do with our growing family from 1977 to 2008.Today, the start of Memorial Day weekend each of our kids, now fully grown adults with children our age when we started camping, has such fond memories of Driftstone. The excitement of going, visiting the camp store at exactly this time on Friday,8pm and seeing how things changed in a year. This is my first time at Driftstone and I am pleasantly surprised. I'm in a class A motorhome and the hook up is convenient. The large sites are fairly level but on grass/dirt so if you have levelers you'd best bring boards to put under each of you levelers. There are fire pits so be prepared smoky air, but tolerable unless you have someone who persists in trying to build a fire with wet wood. Dry wood is available at the store that is stocked with basic necessities. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. The hayrides behind the tractor are very popular. There is a mobile honeywagon so you can be pumped out. The river is right alongside the campground, which has been in operation since 1966. read more

We have camped here twice and are planing a 3rd trip this season. Our stay was a very pleasant one. My favorite things about this park are the river access for tubing and boating. The general store, game room, basket ball, large chess/checkers game, was really fun for the kids. Everyone was super welcoming including the seasonal's that were around our camper. Very clean bathrooms and LOTS of things to do including feeding the goats!! Can't wait to go back. read more

We just spent a weekend at Driftstone campground and we loved it! All the sites were good sized and best of all shaded. The office staff was terrific and the grounds were perfectly manicured and very clean. The bathhouses had to be the cleanest we have ever been in and we do a great deal of camping. We usually don't go back to the same Campground twice we there are so many great places to try but we are Already talking about this one again next year. It was impressive that each site came with not only a garbage can but free liners to use. They really go the extra mile for their customers. We will be back! read more

All around very nice campground. We were first timers the weekend before Memorial Day 2019. The bathhouses are very modern and clean! Camp store is well stock and office staff are helpful and very friendly. The camp sites are huge! If you can't back your RV into one of their sites, yikes! There were a few activities planed this weekend but I'm sure if you camp here in the summer there's lots to do. We took a short drive over to Worthington State Park in NJ and did some hiking (very nice state park for a different review). My only complaint, I wish our site had more grass. We were along the Delaware River under trees and there was more dirt then grass, no big deal we made the best of it. Most likely this would have been 5 stars if we camped in the summer. All in all we had a great first time experience at Driftstone Campground. read more

Was looking forward to a relaxing vacation. Sadly apparently everything we did was wrong. The so called security kept claiming we were being loud and obnoxious, we were following the rules and maybe got a little loud like 15 minutes after 11. Security threatened to toss us out numerous times. Meanwhile we could hear other people having fun and we never complained once. Guess there's favorites there. Even though the campsite is beautiful, for the headache it isn't worth it. Our family will never return here and wish we never booked. You don't like us but you like our money. read more

We camped here on 4th of july weekend in a 27 foot travel trailer. We camped on site #28. The site was very large and easy to back into. It was level and had very nice grass to camp on. The only thing bad about this site is it backed right up to another site. So we were a little close to the camper behind us but it was really no big deal. The campground is very well run by a real nice family. There is plenty of activities to do and a really nice pool. We did the 8 mile kayak trip on the delaware river and it was awesome. We really enjoyed this campground and plan to go back. read more

My family and I just got home today from a two night stay at Driftstone On the Delaware campground. My family is my husband, 7 year old son and myself. We had called and made reservations on Monday, I had requested a riverfront campsite and was told that I needed to book for a least a week to guarantee a riverfront site. After a quick visit to the NJ Pequest Trout Hatchery, that I found out about from Driftstone's website, we drove about 25 minutes to the campground and at the front gate we were greeted with the news that we had a riverfront site. Everyone at this campground was friendly and the entire place was immaculate. We were able to buy ice, firewood,food, ice cream, toys and swimming tubes in the charming store. We played games in game room, went swimming in the pool, played on the large playground and best of all played in the Delaware River for hours. The location of the camp is by an island so there is a large channel that we all went down in tubes. This campground has some extra features that really made it stand out such as a compressor for filling water toys and a gate for security. We also went on the 4 mile canoe trip from Portland back to the campground. This was our son's first long river paddle so we didn't want to go far and the four miles were perfect, we caught a few small mouth bass. The bathrooms were clean and close by the campsites. Saturday night we went on a hayride for $.25 that brought us all around the campground. If you are looking for a family friendly campground with lots to do and great swimming and playing in the Delaware I highly recommend Driftstone. read more

Woot! I love this place! I've been going here since I was just a baby. I even helped build the little dam & water "slide" in between the campsites and the little island nearby. It's perfect for tubing and the island is a fun place for an easy hike. This campsite has a deep pool and a kiddie pool, a baseball field, volley ball field, and playground. The bathrooms are kept pretty clean and the showers always have warm water and are free! The barn also has fun nighttime dances and activites during the day for kids such as arts and crafts. I love that it's right on the river. I usually go swim in the river and then jump into the pool. My favorite was the kayak rental. They take you upstream and let you kayak on your own. It's great place for the whole family. read more

I've been going here at least once a year for the last few years. The campground is nicely located on the Delaware River, which is what attracted me to the place. However, I had a bad experience this year and won't return. I booked a trip for 4 adults (2 couples). The campground has a policy for one family per site (Ie: Mother, Father, and Children). Since we technically had 2 families, we were forced to rent two campsites. However, no one bothered to alert this to us until we showed up, checked in, and had our tents already set up. We arrived and paid for one site with 4 adults. During the nightly ranger checks, the ranger said we had to go back to the office to pay for another campsite. This cost approximately $50 extra. Furthermore, they wanted us to move the other couple and their tents to the other site, which was on the other side of the campground (they didn't have any available nearby sites). This "policy" seemed like a convenient way of charging us more money. If we brought a boy scout troop or a larger group, I would completely understand. However, we were looking to spend some quality time with another couple and this seemed outrageous to rent two sites for only 4 people. I could have stayed in a hotel and paid only a little more. Here's another example of nickle and diming their clients. The campground also has a strict "guest" policy that requires guests to pay $5 for every hour they spend there. Are you serious?!?!? Since campgrounds are everywhere and typically cheap, I see no reason to return here after this experience. read more

This place is ok. It is way overpriced compared to other campgrounds of its caliber (ie knoebels ). It was $70/night. I could get a hotel for that. But at least, for that you would figure it would be inclusive and have nice facilities. You would be wrong. Everything is extra, and very limited. The showers are awful (all four of them) very little water, and cold water at that. The campgrounds are over run by skunks who think they are house cats that want to cuddle up (no thanks). We had 4 at our site last night ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!! The staff is nice, the pool is ok, the sites are a good size (some are private, but beware, that's extra!! ). I gave this place 3 stars because the kids had fun at the dance, at softball, and in the river. Just don't expect facilities as nice as you get for $20/night at promised land near by. read more

We love this campground! It is wholesome, family-oriented, and our favorite place to go camping. There are lovely, wooded, river sites with water and electric hook ups, clean, accessible bathroom facilities, a little general store to buy items from mantles to ingredients for somores. Family fun activities from hay rides to movie nights and dances in the barn and much more make this place perfect for the whole family. I was stuck between a 4 or a 5 star for Driftstone. We've been coming back for years, I like it a lot; just wouldn't say it's perfect. But, I can say, so far, out of the campgrounds that I have been to around there; this is the Best. First, know your spot to set up camp; find a Fav. They will let you park and take a walk around the campground. Go early in the season, walk around, pick your fav campsite and book early. Favorite sites go fast, don't wait till it is too late, and not be happy elsewhere. That is one thing I learned through the years. Another is, to remember to drive 5 miles per hour, this gets everyone that learned the rules already, upset. (((Slow Down))) Next rule, quiet time after 11:PM; it's a family campground, but quiet time could also mean keeping the family quiet; some people are in tents, they can hear everything. There is a laundry room, game room, small animals & hayride, large checkers outdoor game, and a small store for convenience items. Also, there are 2 shower / restroom sites, each one is closed down for a little while each day for cleaning; read the sign and know when those times are. We like to get some exercise in the eve., then walk over to the convenience store for an ice cream, and sit in front of the store on the big rocking chairs outside. It's a nice place to relax, play with river rocks, go for a swim, fish, kayak, play games, have a nice campfire and enjoy the river. Now, why did I not give it a 5 star? Because I don't want other people to know it is that good; what if I didn't get my favorite spot. Seriously though, some people are strictly about the business, that's all. But, maybe if they weren't, it wouldn't be my favorite campground. See, I'm stuck between a 4 or 5 star! They have a list of nearby attractions, on their website. If you like flea markets, Google Buttsville Flea Market, it is nearby. Oh, one more tip, if you go to play on the rocks in the water (hence the driftstone), do not wear open toe summer shoes; or flip flops. Get a pair of water shoes; trust me, I learned the hard way. read more

Great Place! Large sites, Well mantained. Pool and kiddy pool is beautiful, store is well supplied and prices are rerasonable. The bath house is spotlessly clean. The river access is great , they have an island off their bank, which creates a smaller river to play or tube. Rafting trips available . We came here about 7 years ago for a few days, and have become seasonal for the last 3 years. The staff ifs friendly and helpful. they can offer directions, and information about the local area. The rules are strictly enforced, but it makes it a great, safe place for all. Great family place....for all ages. read more

Me and my buddies(roughly at our late 20s) we came here for a weekend. We paid roughly around 30 bucks per person for two nights but we only stayed for one night. . For us, it was more like a camping site for families or an RV park. i've been to many camping site and i can say this is not how i expected. i did called ahead of time to ask if we can hike around and stuff, the assistant told me there is a trailer we can check it out. Once we arrived she told us we have to leave the camping site and hiked outside. knowing us were in the middle of no where, we are not bout to walk around and might end up in someone property. Places like camping site usually have map of where or where not to go for hiking. i was little disappointed and it was our last trip together then my buddy is off to Italy with his love. All i can say is that there is definitely better campgrounds out there. if you are looking for a quiet/relaxing time with your families and a place for your RV to be parked. This is the place for it. but if you want to be adventurous...look for something else. Sorry for the not so good review. read more

Because I conduct business while traveling,we were assured by their Manager that their site wi fi signals were good.....when we made our reservation. We stayed near their office on site 7 and it was not good. It was piss poor. We complained to the manager...the same lady who told me we would not have a problem with wi fi... asking for a very small discount. She basically told us to take a hike. When she said that "whoever told you the wi fi is always good, was not being honest. When I told her it was HER, she stuttered and then said...."well, we don't guarantee good wi fi here". So, stay away from this park and deal with people who are honorable. Bob G. read more

My husband and I enjoyed our weekend at this campground. It was clean, well maintained, well-ordered and the camp sites were large. There is a large grassy open-area for playing ball and many activity options related to the river (kayaks, canoes, tubes, fishing). We rented kayaks and were transported to Portland for a leisurely paddle back down river to the campsite. We especially enjoyed the pool because there were lifeguards and organized games which kept the balls (kids) contained in one area and allowed us to have a relaxed swim in the deeper area. We also enjoyed playing ping pong and air hockey in the game room. The restrooms were clean and there was a laundry and free wi-fi as well. The only drawback was that there is no sewage hookup at the campsite but one would have to pay extra for holding tank service. read more

We had a very unpleasant time at Driftstone. No fires , no music, no talking, no activity after 10:00. There is a clipboard boy who comes around and says to put out your fire, turn off your music, stop talking and settle down. Basically, what they are saying is after a long hard year of work when all you look forward to is your vacation, your not allowed to have fun after 10:00. Its as if you are 10 and in grade school. We were 4 people chilling by our fire with soft music in the background having good conversation. We were not starting trouble, fighting, or disturbing anyone. It was very disheartening to be asked to leave the campground simply because we were relaxing by our campfire after 10. No negotiating...we were told we wouldnt be happy there so... get out or the state trooper will be called if we were not out in a timely fashion. When we asked other campers, they were also visited by the clipboard boy who told them the same thing. It was a very unpleasant experience. If i could give them less than one star I would! read more

Look elsewhere or be prepared for disappointment. A friend of mine invited us to go camping with them. They do this every year. About 6 families in total. We decided to go because our kids have been asking us to go camping for a while now. I did all the research. Called twice asked all the questions I needed. Specifically... Can I bring my dog and what are the restrictions. SURE! One per family was the response. "Free Reign" I could even bring the dog canoeing. That would be awesome! The dog loves the water. ...so I bought the dog a life jacket just to be safe. When we checked in, they would not keep us together. 4 Families next to each other max. No other campground has ever enforced this before... except Driftstone. Our campsite was on the other side of the campground. it was a 5 minute hike to get to our friends. Not happy. OK... lets press on. We set up our tent in the 95 degree heat. When we finished, we changed into our bathing suits and took the kids to the pool. I brought the dog with me (on a leash). I walked into the pool are and tied her up the the picnic table closest to the fence and laid her down in the shade. There was no one around me. Well... I might as well have been killing someone because I was promptly asked to remove the dog and bring her back to the campsite. So wait... you want me to lock the dog up in a 100 degree tent in the middle of the day? Isn't that called animal cruelty? And what happened to free reign? I told them that was wrong and not what I was told. Free Reign... I called TWICE! The pool is owned and is on the premises of the campground. The dog was laying in the shade, not swimming. and no one else seemed to have a problem with my dog laying there in the shade. But Driftstone deemed it necessary to send 4 more employees to the pool area to remove me. I did leave the area. I didn't want them to call the police. ...which they would have done. So if I'm having all these problems now... what will surface tomorrow when we go Canoing? My wife and I made an on the spot decision. We then promptly took my tent down and packed up our stuff. We left. I walked into the main building and they had already processed the credit card reversal for the balance. They did not refund the $50 deposit. Driftstone is run more like an army base rather than a campground. If you are looking for a happy family feel, keep looking. The list of restrictions is far longer than the fun you will have. We drove an hour home and set the tent up in the back yard, lit up a bon fire and swam in our pool till 10:30 at night and the kids got to sleep in the tent. read more
