We stopped by one day to ask a few questions about the facility. The person in office/ gift shop was very busy folding tee shirts. Too busy to stop what he was doing to properly ineract with potential guests. He made no effort to describe the amenities, or what activities they had to offer. If it was his goal to make us feel unwelcome, he succeeded. While leaving I witnessed one of the guests back out of a parking space and crash into another car. Did he stop to report the accident? No he simply drove off like nothing happened. My impression, though very short was low rent nudist trailer park. No thanks. read more

I have been camping at The Woods Campground since opening weekend in May 2004. Of the approximately 10 Gay campgrounds I have been to, The Woods is always on top of the BEST list, Each year there have been improvements. While not the cheapest, it is the best and worth the prices. read more

My husband and I had a fantastic July 4th weekend at The Woods! This is our third year coming back to camp and we're always excited to come back! Obviously things are different this year with the pandemic. But Management is doing an outstanding job of keeping us all safe. They're also working to make things feel as normal as possible. This year we stayed in a tent in the brand new Groves section. The Groves section is by the lake and has lots of trees for shade. It also has a beautiful brand new bathroom/ shower. So much fun! Without a doubt one of the best camping experiences I have ever had! The entire staff is incredibly welcoming. The sites are well maintained; the entire resort is so clean & the upkeep is stellar. The guests have always been friendly. The pool is absolutely beautiful & the open-air dance floor is sooooo much fun!!! The price is a bit steep for what I've been used to previously but honestly, it's worth every single dime. I no longer feel comfortable going to The Woods given the accusations against the owner. I tried reaching out to The Woods directly via email and via the Google chat feature asking about how they will ensure safety of their guests moving forward...I have not received a response as of a week later. I have attempted to post on the Woods Buddies Facebook group 2x asking about how the Woods will ensure safety for its guests moving forward. Both times my posts were not approved/posted. It should also be noted that the owner of the Woods is the moderator for the Facebook group. I then commented on someone's already published post on Facebook asking how The Woods will ensure safety of its guests...when I did this the entire post was deleted by the owner/moderator of the group minutes later. A friend of mine, was also officially blocked from the Facebook Woods Buddies group page for asking about the incident regarding the owner. I am so disappointed and frustrated as I have loved camping at The Woods the past two years and wanted to give them a chance to make things right. As of now they have a new "host/MC" which I guess is an attempt to distance the owner from the situation. But at the end of the day I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars (to make campsite reservations this summer) that could indirectly support the owner when my questions aren't being answered, they are censoring posts on Facebook, and they are blocking people from the Facebook Buddies group for asking for reassurance and answers. read more

Woods campgrounds is the best gay, clothing optional camp getaway. I went the middle of July and went during the week for bear week. Relaxing at the pool, hiking in the trails, or dancing at night there is so much to do. Everyone is friendly and it's very peaceful. Walking around is a fun way to see and meet others. You would think everyone is nude, but it's actually 50/50, more like there's a lot of ppl in swimwear, lol... but either way, don't let the clothing optional part scare you, come here!! Besides, once you get nude, you'll want to stay that way anyway, lol *as I write this review in the nude, lol* So, all the necessities are here... store with anything you want... pool... dance floor... restaurant... fire rings... hiking... boating on the river ... bathrooms & showers (with hot water) and various activities depending what weekend you come (you do need clothes to wear @ the restuarant). Housing- so if course you can bring a tent & set up in their "overflow" area, but u lose out on electricity... but honestly one can go to the restaurant/ poolside & charge. If you want a dedicated camp site, cabin, or you have an RV, you need to reserve early... I mean like Comic-Con-sit-at-your-laptop-be-ready-to-click-credit-card-in-hand ready, lol Bring your own alcohol! & while it is directed toward the (insert whatever letters are current here, lol) community, everyone is welcomed. Been coming to The Woods at least once a summer with my fiancé for the past 3 years. We've always had a great time and met some amazing people. Typically prefer to stay in The Grove which has a wonderful sense of community and so many fellow campers are open to anything from just casual conversation while they walk by to helping out with setting up if they see you're struggling to inviting others under a canopy tent if nearby campers don't have one when it rains. We've done a few of the themed weekends over the years and have never had a bad time. read more

Aug 22-24, 2008 "Foam Party" The Woods is a private, members-only campground that caters to gay and lesbian adults. It is set way back in the Poconos, away from prying (and disapproving) eyes. The facilities are well above-par for campgrounds. Many sites have electric, water and sewer connections, others are unimproved. If all the sites are sold out for a particular weekend, you can pitch a tent in "the field". The comfort stations are clean and well maintained with actual flushing toilets. Lack of hot water is hardly ever an issue. The pool is clean and the hot tubs are plentiful. The grounds are safe and in good condition, with a pond for paddleboating and lots of trails to hike on. They have a disco with a DJ on the weekends and a bonfire to gather around. There is a different theme every weekend (check the website). I've been coming to The Woods almost from the beginning, and I have to say that the owners obviously take great pride in their establishment. The roads have all been improved and you never see a piece of trash laying around or anything in disrepair. Since they bought the place, they've made major improvements each and every year. The nicest part about The Woods is the campers. Camping folk are usually super cool anyway, and gay campers are even moreso. The crowd varies from week to week, although there are many "perms" who maintain permanent campsites. Forget something? Just ask the guys next door. Compliment the lesbians around the corner on the smell of their cooking and they might invite you to join them for dinner. If you need someone to tie your corset, zip up your gown and makeup your adam's apple, just holler. The folks are so cool. The Woods is open all week in season but it's really about the weekends. Pick a theme that suits and reserve your site early, because the popular weekends fill up fast. Wait too long and you'll be stuck with Foam Party weekend - which turned out to be EXCELLENT! If you wish to indulge in adult beverages, make sure to bring your own. Camping essentials and sundry items are available in the store on premesis, but I recommend you bring your own as the markup is pretty steep. Food is available in the restaurant during limited hours. I had a chicken salad sandwich that was quite good. I think the prices are too high but is probably reflective of their clientèle, which includes a lot of New Yorkers and Philadelphians, they might not mind paying $6 for a sandwich. As for me - I usually bring my own food. I like to cook and to prepare gourmet feasts for my friends. I insist on campsites with electricity so I can bring small appliances, most importantly the coffee maker. If you need to get away from it all and a weekend of "roughing it" in the mountains is enticing to you, consider coming to The Woods for some fresh air and sunshine. I have been camping for 17 years, the last 6 full time, have been to literally hundreds of campgrounds, and this is one of the best. Gay, Straight, Nudist, Clothed, doesn't matter. My only complaint would be that all the shower houses are open air, no heat, and taking a shower when it is 45 degrees outside (and inside) is not fun. read more

This was my first trip to The Woods Campground and also my FIRST adventure out of the house since March. My friend and I booked a "Green Cabin" and let me tell you, it was adorable. It was updated, clean and had a microwave and mini fridge, as well as a table and chairs and a futon. The gentlemen at the main office were very hospitable and gave us a guide as first timers of the resort. Keep in mind, you have to buy wood and ice ($10 per bundle; ice $3 per bag), but it's reasonable. The grounds are immaculate and the many shower/bathroom buildings around the property are the cleanest I've ever seen. There are lots of nice trails to hike on and a small lake where you can rent paddle boards/canoes/etc. We layed by their huge pool, listened to some great music, cooked marshmallows over our fire pit and had cocktails amongst crickets and silence. We both were super sad to leave so we extended our trip by another day! All-in-all, I'm very impressed with The Woods and we will definitely be back soon. The Woods Campground I went to The Woods for the first time this October for Bear Weekend and it was AWESOME. First of all it's only about 2 hours from NYC without traffic which is great for a weekend getaway. Second the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The other campers were genuinely nice and we were invited to a small party at a permanent site the second night. There's a pool, two hot tubs, and a café (if you don't feel like making your own food one day or everyday), btw the food at the café was excellent. The campsite was well maintained and had a standard fire pit and picnic table. Pros: -Friendly, welcoming, unpretentious attitudes -Clean bathrooms, pool and hot tubs -Proximity to NYC and Philadelphia for easy weekend trips -Nature trails and natural beauty -DJ "dance club" at night on weekends Cons: -Some of the showers didn't have curtains (which is a pro if you're into nudity or voyeurism) -Some of the events throughout the weekend seemed unorganized (but fun none the less) Tips: ***Leave early on Friday if you're coming from a major city*** My BF and I made the mistake of leaving NYC around rush hour and it took us nearly 4 hrs when it should have taken under 2. Setting up a tent in the dark is not fun. ***Pick up alcohol BEFORE you arrive*** Being unaware of PA alcohol laws, we arrived too late to go to the liquor or beer store. You cannot buy alcohol at a gas station or grocery store... We ended up driving around and found a local bar that was willing to sell us a couple cases of beer, but it was overpriced and unnecessary if we had bought some earlier. ***Bring a LONG extension cord if you're using electricity*** Our 20ft cord wasn't really long enough, but we made it work. read more

I've camped here twice and overall have been pleased, and I always have a good time. Each weekend has a different theme and entertainment to go with it. They have a club house, restaurant, disco, covered patio, pool, hot tubs and a camp store. This is a clothing optional, members only, campground. My most recent visit was for the Latin themed weekend. They had a block party which was a lot of fun and great people watching-with all of the costumes. The permanent sites decorate and go all out for the parties. They provide food, drinks and all sorts of entertainment. Everyone was friendly and in great spirits The tent site we had (I believe it was #70) was average size with electric, nearby water, and should accommodate about two 4 person tents, a dining fly and a single vehicle. The picnic table was rather small at about 5'and could barely accommodate 4 adults. However, there is no limit to the number of people or tents per site. I was in a group of three but two sites directly across from us had over 16 tents and at least 25 people!! I was curious, so I called the front office to see how many people per site were allowed and was told "the more the merrier and more money" I'm all about a good time but the noise from that amount of people in such a small place was ridiculous, unfair and inconsiderate. The staff should of found this to be too many people too. Please limit the number of people on the sites. And if a large group is coming they should be in the field or have enough sites to accommodate them. This directly affects the bathroom facilities and the quality of my visit. I had to wait two hours for a shower!! I know they recently added more bath houses but they still need more. There is no such thing as quiet hours. At midnight This campground is noisier than DuPont circle during rush hour. All hours of the night you can find intoxicated people driving around in golf carts with radios playing and all sorts of strobe lights. I'm all about a good time but there is no need for golf carts ( blinding headlights) driving around after 10. This is a safety issue and common courtesy to other guests. I found no security at all. None. And the woods campground needs it with the amount of people they host. Security/staff should have been walking around the grounds to monitor what is going on in regards to noise and guest safety. Ie: 3am and 20 people are around a campfire being ridiculously loud. Perhaps monitor the intoxicated guests racing golf carts at 2am!?! Also, campfire fire safety requires nearby water for immediate use-and it shouldn't be an option. If you build a fire you should have enough water within arms reach ( bucket, dish water, something). I would hate to hear about a fire because an irresponsible guest was drinking and negligent, or worse someone hurt! Overall I really like this place but they do need some fine tuning on rules and implementing them. I've camped all across the country and am happy to have found my first gay campground. I will be back and am looking forward to it. Oh and there are nearby attractions such as tubing (which we did) a state park and many other things. See you in the woods ;-) read more

Just back from my first trip to The Woods and all I can say is "wow". Literally had the best time ever! Everyone was incredibly friendly. The staff was wonderful and helpful. There's an on-site restaurant, pool, nightclub, and over 3 miles of secluded hiking trails. Note that it is a clothing-optional resort that caters to the LGBTQ community. On a hot summer day, and it was hot when i visited, it seemed the pool is filled with a good 75% of nude swimmers, both men and woman. The grounds themselves, roughly 25% of people were nude all day, but as the evening progressed that number increased. There was no stigma against anyone, clothed or not. I was pleasantly surprised to not see any shenanigans (if you catch my drift!) going on but I'm told it's there but far enough removed those who didn't want to partake, wouldn't know it was there! The one and only issue I encountered, is the service in the restaurant was incredibly slow, so don't show up starving like we did. It's going to take a bit. I'm told that they're working on fixing the issue, which is from the size of their kitchen, not with the staff. I've been gay camping for over a decade at another campground in the Midwest, and it doesn't compare to The Woods. Not sure I can go back to another campground. It was that great. read more

This place ROCKS!! I have been coming here now for 6 years, and the amount of improvements they have made and continue to do so are impressive. The facilities are very clean and well cared for. The restaurant is just so-so, and I understand the criticism there somewhat, but you are CAMPING! I hear rumors of kitchen expansion and revamping of the restaurant. Based on what I have seen over the years, I believe it and I cut them slack on this one. After reading some of the reviews, the statements made about unfriendly staff truly surprises me (i.e. retched attitude). I have found the staff to be very, very friendly. Examples and special shout outs to: Wayne who helps me moving my camper with a smile every time, and has gotten me out of a jam or two (maybe even 3)! Dennis for a one-time bending of the rules (no refunds for missed reservations) and crediting me a weekend. I prepaid several weekends for overflow, and did not think I needed to contact them to change the reservation for overflow areas. This is against policy, and I know now that it applies to overflow as well. He was very courteous to granted me a one-time exception which would have cost me a lot of money since I was there for 5 consecutive days. Danny is always very nice and super competent. Last weekend he even corrected a less competent staff member who was giving me inaccurate information, even while waiting on a different person. As I see it, it was a learning opportunity for the other staff member and Dan cared enough to make sure I was treated correctly and fairly. The cleaning staff are always talkative and smiling, wishing you a good day,etc. The only negative comment about staff members that I have is the security guard is very confrontational, but hey, you cant be perfect! Just look busy when he drives/walks by and ignore him. Don't break the rules and you will be fine. (slow down when driving, hang your tag on your car, wrist band in plain sight, etc.) Bottom line, if you want a great campground resort, great entertainment, fun "family" and pet-friendly atmosphere, come here and just have a good time! read more

Before I truly get started on my review I must first say this. If you are not a fan of the LGBTQ or nudity this campground is not for you. first got to the Woods and I did not know what to expect. When I first walked through the door I got greeted with nothing but smiles. The food at the restaurant was above average the burgers are really really good. But I will I love the most was the fact that the pool area it was magnificent and the volleyball area seemed ready to host a real volleyball event. I went to the woods as kind of a F%$k Y#@ to my partner that left me after 3 years unexpectedly. I had heard a few friends talk about The Woods in the past but had never been there. I have a large class A motor home and have never used it without my ex. I got my shit together and drove up there from the Philadelphia area on my own. I did great and had no issues. I win!!! The best part so far about The Woods was like it says in song "The keeper of the stars" someone had a hand in it. I meet the most wonderful man there on a lonely Tuesday night when I was sitting by my campfire under the stars with my two dogs. He was headed to the hot tub but stopped to talk. He ended up staying for a while and we got to know each other. He had to leave the next morning so the following Monday I stopped home picked up the dogs and we went up to The Woods for the night to camp and see my new friend. Well to give you the short story it's been 6 months since that Tuesday night and the beginnings of a life time of happiness. I have been to many campgrounds in my life and find The Woods to be a really nice and clean place to camp. I really like the activities, and many social events that happen on a regular basis at The Woods. I really like the pool and hot tub during the day, and find it soooo much fun. The Woods is a camp ground not the Ritz Carlton. I have read the reviews on here and find it hard to believe what people expect out of camping. It's a great place to meet nice people and have a great time. I find the cafe to be a great value with great food. As like any thing in life we should never stop trying to improve. I went on leather weekend . I had a bad time because after I paid to get in I was excluded from some of the event because I was in leather attire. No where on the site did it say that you needed to be in a particular dress code that weekend. I told the front desk person, they said that it was out of their control due to the fact that it wasn't their event. I even let them know that I had came up from philly over two hours away, they still wouldn't let me participate. I felt extremely uncomfortable, I asked for a refund, but was not offered one. How can a group of societal outcasts feel that it is ok to single one of there own out like this. The thing about the Woods Campground, or really any camp for that matter that caters to the LGBTQIA community is there is going to be one person who always has to stir the drama pot or be the Debbie Downer. I am sure if you think this place is piss poor and/or is terrible due to certain things then you may want to hold up a mirror and look at yourself. I bet you are the Debbie everyone is talking about. Sure this is more "glamping" then camping but there is a whole lot of "camp" in this place. And it is one of the nicest, greatest, most amazing places I have been to. The first time I came, I said "I feel like I belong here" The second time I came, I met my family there. The third time, which was just last weekend (for Christmas in July) was when I realized that this place believes. They believe in the greater good of each other. They believe that there is good in all of us. They believe in being friendly and nice and kind to one another. Oh sure, there may be the one person that is having a bad day, but I also believe that you get what you want out of camp and what you put into it is what you will return. Sometimes the kitchen is slow, who cares... more time to chat and make friends. Sometimes a site you desired or a cabin you coveted isn't available, but that doesn't mean there aren't people out there willing to share their space (and there is so much "overflow" space it is almost/literally a whole campground in itself. As this being my first year, I do not know what the prices used to be and people seem to complain this year that the prices where raised. Okay... so you may 101 a night for a cabin for two people (plus additional fee for each addition person). 101 a night is CHEAP. You will not get a hotel or lodge for that (unless you like your beds with bugs and who knows what else... I have watched those Hotel Hell shows). You will not get a nightclub, special events, trails to wander, boats to go out on, a huge pool or two hot tubs. You will not get to meet people from all over the area who want to get to know you. But you will get that AND MORE at the Woods. Believe me, I have made more friends the past three times I have been that I know will be friends for life then I have in my 44 years being alive. So do yourself a favor, if you are LGBTQIA and love a good "nudity okay" place with amazing events (foam parties, video djs, mardi gras, christmas in july etc etc) check out the Woods Campground. I have been visiting The Woods for the past 3 years.This year will be my 4th season. My first time visiting this Camp Site was more than I imagined. Every weekend they have all sorts of fun events and parties for everybody to enjoy. These past few years I have noticed many great changes with the pool upgrade, expansions of the campsite and the many upgrades. I find all the staff members to be very helpful, friendly, professional and very hard working. The food is pretty good to camp standards. The waiters and waitresses are friendly and hard working. The people who visit for the most part, very friendly and very social. I never had one dull moment at The Woods and I recommend this is a place to visit. read more

This was my first visit to The Woods, and probably my last. The website really oversells this place. With a little effort it could really shine, but there are certain critical areas in which attention is required. Pros: - Private location, yet easy to find. - Newer lodge with store, restaurant & decks. - Attractive pool area with comfortable lounge chairs & numerous umbrellas. - Campsites are well maintained, including the rentable cabins and trailers. Cons: - Staff attitude. - Filthy, poorly maintained pool: green, cloudy & filmy during my visit. - Paddleboats nowhere to be seen. - 2 of 3 showers in lodge not functional. - Trail system/property boundaries are not clearly marked; no maps available during check-in. Surprisingly, there is some quasi-local (north of Scranton) competition, so thankfully this is not the only game in town. Even if some of the problems were strictly limited to my visit, they were serious enough to warrant immediate attention. read more

I was really hoping that this would be a an amazing camping trip. I rented a cabin for the weekend it was about it was small, which was fine. I was surprised it was so bare...not even a place to store my things, so we basically lived out of our bags. The staff was pretty awful, they have a we don't really care attitude. My main issue was the showers....the hot water is hit or miss, which is a bummer when you have a walk with all of your things to go to the shower station. Then I asked about the showers they told me to try it again in an hour or so, they are aware of the problem but don't really care. The pool and the hot tub are way too dirty to use.... and the "night club" is too small and stuff. No A/C so it just sort of as it. There were a lot of nude guys, the larger hairy type. read more

I was invited by a friend to The Woods this weekend. I didnt really know what to expect and reviews werent really satisfying my questions so i wanted to share my experience for others. We checked in on friday afternoon. We reserved a lot in the newer section of the campground. We brought a tent with us, rather than an RV or camper. While the site was uncomfortable for utilizing a tent, the shade from the trees was really good because the sun is intense in the fields where most people with tents were. I would have needed hospitalization in the field. If anyone intends to bring a tent to one of the lots, bring something VERY thick and comfortable to put inside the tent or the gravel will be a killer. Several blankets would probly do the trick. Also a cheap carpet to put outside would have been helpful. The gravel is really painful on my feet, especially when wearing any flip flops or sandals, so anywhere you go good sneakers will be your bff. We brought food with us to grill, but it ended up going bad because we were too lazy to keep refilling the ice, mainly because of the gravel. This wasnt a problem though because the food at the cafe was pretty good. It was about 10$ a meal. The breakfast was great and on sunday there was a buffet that looked great. The menu options are limited but it was limited to food i enjoy so i wasnt mad. The staff were also very very helpful and went out of their way to accomodate us a few times. The property is really beautiful. Im very much a person who enjoys nature and i think anyone reading this is as well. The permanent sites that are nestled in the woods are just so cute and the folks who live there were very friendly. One of them gave me a tour of the property on his golf cart and it took us about an hour to go everywhere so there was alot to see. He also pointed out all the best places to meet new friends. I made quite a few. They had a theme of off holiday partys that were so much fun. Friday night the whole campground was so drunk, myself included and the nightclub was jumpin with hotties. The Mardis Gras Block Party was decorated so nicely and everyone was dressed up in masks and their finest banana hammocks. I had a really fantastic time and i will definitly be returning. I recommend lots on the left side of the map where the trees are really thick. Also, while it seems like being next to the showers would be a really steamy idea, there are also toilets which did not smell good, we were reminded of the smell several times so i would stay as far away as possible. Definitly go to the pool at mid-day but go reserve a chair in the morning so you get a good view. Be social and youll have a fantastic time no matter what your looking for. read more

So I got interested in going to the Woods last year mainly because I thought it would be cool for me and my partner to branch out and make new friends. The Woods' website looked interesting and being only an hour and a half from Philadelphia it wasn't far. We didn't end up going until this past weekend with two friends. We're all in our early 30s and chose to go to a Bears in the Woods weekend (two us are cubs and two are maybe what you'd call otters). We had a blast! And we didn't spend a lot of money. However we all thought the campground could stand a few improvements that could really make it shine. We booked our reservations for the woods months in advance. But even then all of the actual tent sites were booked. So we set up our tents in the overflow field which is just a big grass field in the middle of the campground. This ended up working out for us really well. However I suggest you arrive as early as you can on Friday to try to get a prime spot (many spots are not as close to the bathrooms as I might have liked). Each weekend has a theme and programming that goes with it. But the programming isn't really executed that well. The wet underwear contest was sort of a disaster, very few people wore kilts to the kilt party etc. This didn't really get in the way of the fun though. Campers were interested in having a good time both in terms of making new friends and hooking up. And that's what made the weekend fun. Mostly folks flocked to the restaurant/pool/clubhouse at the center of camp all day. Between the food, the pool, the hot tubs and the dance club that opened at night, this was always the center of activity. For us the weekend was a mix of hanging out at our campsite and just enjoying being outside, going to the pool, hopping in a hot tube, eating, talking to new people, some hooking up and some cruising. There were definitely naked people on hand as the campground is clothing optional. There was no pressure at all to be naked though. However all of us-who don't normally hang out in the nude together--pretty quickly shed our clothes and continued to do so at internals throughout the weekend. Swimming nude is pretty cool! On demographics, there were almost no women there on Bear weekend. And there were very few people of color. I'd say maybe 60-70% of the guys there were over 40, but we definitely met a lot of people our age (early 30s) and there were some there as young as 22. At Bear weekend, there were a range of body types but as a cub/chubby guy I have never felt more in the mainstream and desired. It was a pretty cool experience that way. In terms of the way things are run, out in the camping area we never really saw any staff. But the bathrooms were well maintained and nicely constructed. The permanent trailer sites looked great and were obviously well-loved by their owners. There were plenty of places to put trash and recycling and the containers never seemed to be overfull. The outer edges of the campground as well as the lake are very pretty. The campground is pretty small though. But that's nice because it's easy to get all around. Some suggested improvements: -more staff. the staff seemed completely overwhelmed at all times and they showed it. i mean a sunday brunch with bears is something you know you need to prepare for and have a lot of help on hand right? -mix up the music. a live DJ would help but also a mix of non club/pop music would be nice. how many times can you hear the same lady gaga mix? if some alt or indie rock or hiphop/rnb or 80s or even country/bluegrass was played--at least in some portion of the clubhouse--the vibe would have been a lot cooler. -expand the patio/enlarge pool/more hotubs. a little more space to stretch out in would have gone a long way. it would have made it more fun/easier to meet people and would have relieved some severe overcrowding. -keep the restaurant open later. there is nowhere else to get food and closing at 9:30 and closing between lunch and dinner seems silly. -hire a cruise director. part of the chill laid back vibe had to do with the fact that the staff was not all that present. but if you are going to advertise programming, you really should do a better job following through and actually making sure the programs are fun. These issues aside though, I highly recommend a trip to the Woods. It's a non-judgmental and welcoming place where you can make new friends, swim, drink and chill out all day and night for a low price close to home. read more

I had known of The Woods for a few years (through a couple acquaintances and friends who go periodically) but never went until this weekend on recommendation of a couple friends who had just been for the first time. Fantastic. Great accomodations and great people. Everyone, staff and guests, was kind and welcoming. The facilities were in top notch shape-- the pool, spa, and other common areas were super clean and well maintained, which I think speaks of a sense of pride on part of the staff/owners. Seriously, not a tossed cigarette butt or piece of trash in sight. Anything for purchase was reasonably priced and readily accessible. There are plenty of events to attend each day on the weekends-- great way to meet new people and make new friends. I think The Woods is fantastic for for gays/lesbians wanting an environment in which they can be themselves around like-minded folks without a lot of the social toxicity that prevails in urban environments. I definitely re-discovered my love for being in the outdoors when I was there, and I hope to go back soon! read more
