Amazing experience with a couple of super nice guys!…read more Let me preface my review by saying I am a girl & while I don't know much about cars, I know enough to get by & when someone is full of crap. The first mechanic I took my car to to have the brakes checked out told me that they automatically replace both the brake pads AND the rotors because "rotors are disposable now" & wanted to charge me $300 per axle to do a brake job. I knew that this was b.s. so I waited for a second opinion. My dad (who is somewhat of a mechanic himself) took a look & said that the brake pads looked good, but since I was experiencing a little scrubbing I should take the car to a mechanic. We both suspected that the scrubbing sound was just from rust on the rear rotors because it was only happening after it rained & the rust was visible. I took my car to Abe & Joe after finding a coupon & getting an estimate over the phone for $200 to get the rear brake pads & rotors replaced. I dropped the car off, & soon after, Joe called me to let me know that the problem was exactly as we had suspected- the rotors were just having a little rust buildup when it rains & although I would probably want to replace the rusting rotors the next time I had the brake pads changed, it wasn't necessary to do either now. I was fully prepared to have my brakes done & they saved me a ton of $$$$$ today- money which could have easily gone in their own pockets. **Cheers to honest mechanics!** They even replaced a couple of lug nuts for me- at cost- when they very easily could have charged labor. I don't know what this other guy is talking about in his 1* review, but I suspect he doesn't have a clue, was having a bad day, or just wanted to try to get something for free- at very least, he's not telling the whole story. I will DEFINITELY be going back to Abe & Joe when I do need my brakes done & very strongly recommend that you do too if you're looking for honest, reasonably priced mechanics- these guys are awesome!
