0 Stars -- Extremely Disappointing Experience…read more My husband and I came to HomeSense to shop, and unfortunately, what happened at checkout completely changed the way I feel about this location. While we were checking out, Jonathan, the manager, began making homophobic comments about my husband and me, apparently not realizing that I understand Spanish. I may not look like I speak Spanish, but I understood what was being said. Hearing those comments from a manager was completely inappropriate and unacceptable. I have been a loyal customer at this HomeSense since this location opened over six years ago. My husband and I genuinely love the products and the store, which makes this experience even more disappointing. It's very difficult to feel comfortable returning to a store where a manager thinks it's acceptable to make comments about customers because they are a same-sex couple. This is exactly the kind of experience that pushes loyal customers away from physical stores and toward shopping online instead. HomeSense management should take this seriously. No customer should be made to feel unwelcome or disrespected simply for shopping with their spouse.

Was promised a new table and 2 chairs would arrive in around 6 weeks.... never came. Now I understand the business was sold to "new ownership", in August. However, phone number, email, and Yelp are all still active and in use. The current contacts at the business chatted with me a bit and provided a number for the old manager. There was some sincerely there but honestly the whole situation is VERY FISHY and understand other people are calling with similar issues and paid for products they never received. If the new folks are truly innocent of the scams that were being run through this place, suggest distancing themselves as much as possible from the poor reputation and shady dealings of this business.

Ironically, had I visited the store in person, I never would have purchased this item because I would have seen it and been able to judge in person whether or not I believed it to be authentic. Instead, I relied on the photo and description that was provided online: "Antique Green Glaze Garden Temple Tile. Late-19th-century Chinese green glazed ceramic garden temple tile from the Hunan province." The photo and description of the tile for sale online do not match the tile I received. I contacted Harlan Rose, the manager of the store to explain that I thought the tile was a reproduction, he responded with, "Well this is a he said-she said situation." I tried to explain that no, it was not, since I had three original antique tiles that I had owned for many years, and I was trying to replace a fourth one that had broken, so I knew what the authentic tile would look like, and the one I received from FEA did not look like the three I had. I know they are handmade, and I know the color tones vary. But it was more than that. I told him the one I received was smaller, thinner, and heavier. It also smelled like fresh paint or lacquer. I told him that in my opinion, it seemed more like a reproduction, similar to the types that are sold online as "tiki tiles." Again he said, "Well it's a he said-she said situation." The return policy of the shop is that the customer owes shipping postage, both directions. And, once the item is received back, the store will keep a 25% "restocking" fee. I paid $75 for shipping to me, and I know it would cost at least that much for me to return it. After the 25% "restocking" fee, there would be virtually nothing left to my refund. Harlan offered me some sort of a discounted amount of a store credit if I returned the item, which I declined since I do not live near Yonkers. His final offer was to refund my $75 shipping cost, allow me to keep the tile that does not match my other three, and be out $290. In my opinion, I had no choice but to accept. I did receive my $75 back, but I am in possession of a tile for which I paid $290 and cannot use. I personally would never buy online from this store again. I was not happy with the customer service treatment I received. I do not believe I received the item that was described online as being a 19th century antique--just my opinion, but I wish someone had warned me in a review prior to my purchase so that I would have saved $290.

My experience with Harlan was exceptional. He felt that the piece I had seen online was too small for me, and directed me to more suitable chests and tables. I have fond memories of Sears but this Target is a great replacement. There is plenty of parking and several food options nearby. It is two floors filled with all the local items. I have stopped by here many times to pick up some clothes and snacks.The family loves to wander around and pick up some Starbucks during their trip. This place is great for quick pickups and wandering around. I come by here to pick up the occasional juice or milk run. I will probably still go to the Stop and Shop nearby for my grocery shopping.

Everything is clean, relatively organized, and stocked well - a contrast to other long term opened HomeGoods locations. I've never been the biggest fan of TJX Companies' offerings (TJ Maxx, Home Sense, Marshalls, Sierra, HomeGoods), but some of the newer locations have been growing on me. Perhaps it's the newness or maybe they're getting less gaudy/lame junk and more decent offerings. There were more than one item I would've considered purchasing, but I needed to behave since the holidays are approaching and I'm on a budget. I didn't have any interactions with employees - as I usually don't at these stores as rarely anyone will ask if I need any help (not that I mind because I prefer it the other way around) and will go out of their way to evade the customers, so I can't comment that aspect. The cuing area is decent and I saw no lines and more than one cashier. As mentioned, it's in the spot that Staples used to be in - so those who know the area will know where I'm talking about. This new location shares the same space with some businesses, most notably a Pizza & Brew and TJI Fridays. Parking lot can be busy at times, but I've never had an issue finding a spot. There's decent parking on the side of HomeGoods as well. Overall a good entry in an area of good shopping choices and one more store to add to Central Park Avenue's large overall shopping options.

There is the barn filled with furniture, larger antiques and trinkets and the house building that has some really cool antiques throughout. I once saw a JFK campaign hat! The prices are fair and they are also willing to negotiate with you. Every time I've gone in as well there is new stuff which I think speaks for the amount of consigners in the area. The property itself it pretty beautiful too. While I wish I could keep this place a secret, they deserve the business. On Central Ave in Hartsdale, Safavieh has plenty to choose from to decorate your living room, family room and bedroom and they've been doing so for a long time. I recently found a Safavieh brand, small 2x4 rug for my galley kitchen at on online store but tried my luck here and see if they have that style so I can whisk it away. Only available rugs are large Persian area ones with the exception of just 2 small rugs in colors I wasn't going for. I mentioned to the folks here I was in the market for a specific small size and a particular color rug. While the service was professional, I honestly felt that because I didn't drain my bank account with any of their items, tone and body language changed towards the end and were way off. But to their benefit, rugs are quality and these folks have a lot of daring pieces. Even the items that have cracks or marks on them, were outrageously priced.

You might have to dig through somethings, but it's not too bad. The place is well kept and the people who manage it (I think they are all volunteers from the church?) work hard to keep the place in order. There is flow to the merchandise, with areas broken up by department. New donations are coming in on a regular basis. Every time I go, which is often, I see new donations being dropped off or being sorted and priced. The staff/volunteers are always so pleasant. It's a pleasure to shop here. It's never too crowded with customers, but there is regular customer traffic that keeps the store moderately busy. Prices are fair and around Christmas, they set up a room with Christmas specific/inspired merchandise. Kudos to Red Door!
