After this year's annual termite inspection, it seemed time to fumigate my house due to areas damaged by increased termite activity. The damaged areas required patching, replacing, and painting. I contacted several termite control companies and decided to work with Lloyd Pest Control. They presented their plan for repairing existing damage and for fumigation. I accepted their plan to fumigate the house but decided to have roofer who has worked for me before repair the existing termite damage, inspect the roof tiles and repair/replace tiles as required. I assumed Lloyd Pest Control was a trustworthy company and I would get honest answers. I left the area for the two days the fumigation occurred. Upon returning, I immediately noticed that several roof tiles were damaged and would need repair or replacement. I contacted Paul Marin, my Lloyd Termite contact and asked for the details on roof damage before and after the tenting process. In a couple of days he responded. "Hi Bill. I spoke to the fumigation team and they said there was 25 tiles broken before the process and none broken during." This answer was completely inconsistent with the facts. After this response I asked my roofer to examine the current state of the tile roof. He told me that the tenting caused significant damage and he had photographs to prove it. He recommended quick repairs because rain was expected within a couple of days. After 2 days of labor, and an expense of over $900, he had the roof repaired. Lloyd Pest Control 's response to my complaint was I had been notified that they were not responsible for any roof damage. My main concern with Lloyd Pest Control is that they seemed more interested in signing up a customer than providing straightforward answers about their work process. In fact, Quentin may have been the best service technician I have encountered with both expertise and an exemplary customer service disposition. Chris did solid work making a number of needed repairs, replacing wood pieces as needed, as well as treating the post with termites. (Another worker assisted a bit but forgot his name.) The time frame we were given was 7:30am-12pm (a pretty big gap imo), so my mother and I were awake since 7am and it was stressful because we have 2 cats and it's a struggle to get them in their carriers. I mention this because the whole time we're checking the time to see when they would be coming so we can plan the time it would take us to put our cats in their carriers. The person who ends up coming comes at 12:20pm. Ridiculous. Been using Lloyd's for a while now. Their employee, "Jayro" comes to and handles the insects by spraying something that kills ants and spiders for months. He is always professional and goes above and beyond every time he comes to the house. Then, when he could not find my info, I asked if I could just get the simple quote I wanted. He had to transfer me to the sales department. Then, the sales dept. gave me a high high quote. I have been using Lloyds for several years now, they are really the best ones out there, I have tried all the others. Last year I referred our new neighbors and was told would receive a discount of some sort if they started service. Well they did last August, I just found out and because so much time has passed they will not honor discount? How would one know if neighbor signs up without being pushy or nosy? So they recently raised the quarterly service rates, completely understand with the cost of everything increasing, but will not be referring them to any new customers at all and seriously rethinking their service? This was our first experience with Lloyd and it was awful. Backstory: We live in an apartment. We have termites on our patio and under the kitchen sink, Our next door neighbors, with whom we share a wall, had termites on their patio and inside their unit. Our complex had a contract with Terminix, who failed to show up without calling twice. Our complex's sister property uses Lloyd and we were told they were excellent. First, they showed up without calling, so my mom had to answer the door in her PJs. Then the employee took one look at the patio door frame and declared that we had a cricket problem. He vehemently denied that we had termites at all and would only spray for crickets. It was explained to him that we had two piles of termite frass (excrement that is a classic sign of infestation), but that our apartment's maintenance person had cleared it away and sprayed some store-bought termite stuff on the wood to tide us over until a professional could come. The Lloyd guy also looked at the frass in the kitchen and said it wasn't a bug issue. A simple Google search shows what cricket nests look like and what termite frass look like. They do not look similar. It's pretty easy to figure out, especially if you're a "professional." Seriously? Thanks for literally nothing. I cannot stand ants. I hate them. They've been messing with me all summer. I woke up last Saturday morning and they were trailing through the bottom of the sliding glass door, up my counter, across the granite, to the sink, and down to places I didn't want to look. I fought them for a few hours but they kept regrouping and coming back. I called Lloyds on Monday because we used to have them at the office where I worked and they were always nice and responsive to our needs, which were less ant and more roach, which is even worse. They had a cheap deal that lets me call them whenever I need them for a year. The guy came out pretty quick, did his thing, and BAM, the ants were gone. The bug guy was really patient about explaining why the ants trail into my house. I'm not dirty. They're just looking for water. Horrible service. Very rude office staff. After my contract was over I called and cancelled their service, they continued to come with no notice, charged me. Always an issue for appointment requests, just want you to deal with the time they want to come making ability to give them access to your property difficult. This caused headaches cause they would still show up, only do have your yard, then charge you the full amount. I used them for crickets plus they found jumping spiders, black widows and I have had no ants or any problems since they came. I took them up on their yearly plan. First time using Lloyds. We used to use Western Exterminators but thought we would support local family own businesses. In this case that was a big mistake. Contract was misleading basically paying $100 each time for them to come out once every 3 months and spray some chemicals around the front yard? After several failed attempts from them to get rid of the problem and ended up going on google and finding a way to eliminate the problem myself. Initial service they called and scheduled an appointment then for the past two just a note on the door. My wife called to cancel service and receptionist didn't seem to care or want to hear our concerns. Only positive was the technicians and their professionalism. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. We had Lloyd's come out when we had a crazy amount of ants in our home that we were leasing. We had a really hard time trying to get rid of them. They came back weekly and finally they defeated those ants. It was such a horrible issue that we decided to move. We found a new house to lease and this house had spiders and snails. So we of course called them. They came out did a great job as always and we have been here for 2 years and have not had one issue. They come every 3 months. We got the plan where we paid 99.00 and then 20.00 a month but they come out as much as we need them to with no extra charge. We have not had to use them any extra but to know that we can is so nice to know. They accomidate your schedule and they put the customer first. I would not go anywhere else.
