Shady business. You could easily do the mosquito treatments they offer yourself and the customer experience is just terrible. First, they failed to disclose before I signed up that they don't spray around flowers or fruit trees, both of which surround most of my property. They were supposed to come out once a month, but I had to call to get them to come in July (month #2), and they no-showed in August. I asked for another trap in July because the treatments weren't having any effect and first was told it would be $10/month starting August, and then when I asked for it earlier I got no response. That trap never arrived. Now they have my payment from last month and are billing me the balance of the $150. They made me the "offer" of crediting the month they didn't show up against the $150. Uh, thanks? Given they are staking their reputation on $65 even as they admit they messed up, I have to think their Yelp ratings are fake. Don't waste your money here, they rip off their customers. read more

I have been a client of this business for more than a year. They have done a wonderful job of keeping ants away and with the monthly fee I pay, they do come by and do maintenance which has been effective. More recently, I ran into a rodent issue. The technician came and left a trap which as far as I can tell has been very infective. Given that I called to schedule an inspection. The time I was give my the coordinator was not conveyed to the technician as I waited 1/2 a day for him to contact me. It took 5 calls to the company to get a callback over a VOIP connection that was barely intelligible. The coordinator was able to get me in touch with the technician whose window for my appointment was 12 hours (as opposed to the 4 hour window I was given. While the scheduled services work well... communication (at last as of late) is sorely lacking and difficult. I would proceed with caution and am considering taking my business elsewhere as a result of this interaction. ADDENDUM: within an hour of placing this, the technician, Leon arrived. He provided a careful review of the situation and prepared a very reasonable plan to handle the issue. Customer service also called and apologized and acknowledged the error. It was good to see that the company was very responsive given what happened. They did right by me and I will continue my business with them. read more

I've been with HomeShield for over two years, and since they started treating my home and yard, my cats stopped getting fleas. I was able to quit using those harsh flea treatments on them, which feels so much better for their health. However, for the first time ever, I suddenly had an ant invasion. HomeShield sent Loc Nguyen over, and he was fantastic! Super polite, professional, and patient in explaining what was going on. Fair warning: No due dilligence. As a returning customer, I asked this company to inspect the attic of our apartment building for rodents. They not only did not inspect the attic, they told my tenant the rats were not in the attic (despite her hearing noises in her ceilings). I called the manager who said they would send somebody else out to inspect the attic. That person told my tenant it's better not to open the attic door or the rodents may escape into her living area. Not only is this blatantly false, they sent me a contract for abatement. Seriously?? How do they know what animal they are abating?? Are they going to set a mouse trap for a raccoon?? How can they identify access points?? They had the audacity to send me a contract for mediation of their non-investigative unfindings. **But, I should have known better*** We used this company a couple of years ago for rodent abatement and to seal access points. I walked the property, checking the schematic they gave me for access point remedies they claimed to have finished. I found several items on their schematic which were not completed on the property. They did send somebody out to address the issues.. sevetal times because the workers kept mIssing the same spots. On a positive note, everybody is polite on the phone. read more

Heard about home shield from a friend, and if the initial consultation is representative of their service, color me satisfied. Had Marcus come out within 2 days of setting my first appointment. He showed up early, quickly addressed the issues we needed, and was overly friendly throughout the process. Update after a few days: Upon further review walking around my home, I noticed many spider webs were missed, even some I made specific note of for the technician. I have reached out for assistance but have yet to hear back. A bit frustrated by this but will update if/when they come back and finish their work.
