During a recent trip to Buffalo, I was able to introduce my boyfriend to the wonders of Lloyds. The experience was fabulous, just as I remember it from before I moved to Colorado. We started with some cocktails at the bar, which we enjoyed on the patio while watching the typical commotion on Hertel. The bartenders were incredibly sweet, attentive, and professional. I ordered a Black Bird cider, which came served in a frosty glass--a really nice touch. My partner got a Michelada, which had a spiced rim and great flavor. The grub didn't disappoint either. We tried out the crack-ed potatoes, which were salty and crispy, just how I like my potatoes! I ordered the Skinny Thai taco. It was just as delicious as I remember it from years ago. I can still taste it now and can't wait to go back again for another. My partner got the Dirty South burrito and loved it. I snuck a bite even though I trend plant-based and man it was tasty! You can get it as a burrito or taco...NOT a huge fan of rice (which they load on the burritos) so i stick with the taco. It is their take on a Big Mac. When I was new to this place I went right to this taco because I am not a fan of cabbage either and this had romaine (cabbage comes on all of their stuff BUT you can always subsitute it out for romaine). I cannot believe that I've never written a review about Lloyd! It's one of my absolute favorite spots on Hertel. My go to dish is the Drunken Chicken Quesadilla (Side nite: don't just order a chicken quesadilla - be sure to say 'drunken'). It's filled with Mezcal salsa, Chihuahua cheese and Crema Mexicana. Aside from having really fresh ingredients, super friendly employees and chill vibes, one of my favorite things about Lloyd is their pickled red onions. I can literally eat them plain and I have actually done it... multiple times. I'm not too sure how they do it, but they have the best pickled onions around and it makes my Drunken Quesadilla just over the top delicious. I promise, you won't be disappointed. read more

Ahhhh the energy in this place and the absolutely delicious food (try the nachos if you haven't!!!!) make this one of my favorite places to go with friends. Nice open space on Hertel with a bar and cafeteria style seating. I've been here a number of times and can say the food is top notch, from the appetizers to the desserts. Bar offers a limited draft list but has excellent cocktails. So what's my beef? Ordered two tacos for the first time. The smallest tacos, by far, I've ever seen. When I say small, I mean 2 bites. At $4 a piece. I literally asked my server if there were 2 tacos on my plate! You pay that much for a single La Davina taco and it's at least twice as big. That was the strangest restaurant experience I have ever had! I have been out all over, and never had hot food served cold in a restaurant. And then played off like it is normal. I am still mystified. The food was cold, not hot, not even warm. I thought maybe I had done something wrong in my order, so I asked. James the cashier and he said, 'no, it should be warm. Let me see what we can do.' None of the food (nachos, tacos, burrito, cracked potatoes) was hot. Not even warm. Sooo strange! Let's start with the positives: 1.) The cracked potatoes; they were warm, so not all the food was cold. They were warm, not hot. And they were good. 2.) James, the cashier; he was very helpful from greeting us to answering questions about the menu to seeing what he could do for us concerning our cold meal in a restaurant. Huh? 3.) The atmosphere and the Sabres won in OT. The negatives: 1.) FOOD WAS COLD. Burrito, nachos, and two tacos. All COLD! 2.) They did nothing for us. Not even offer a desert, not a $5 dollar gift card to get us to try the restaurant a second time, nor a refund on the cold nachos( ah yes, even though the queso was COLD, the tortilla chips were good), or discount the COLD burrito. Man, has this place gone downhill. The one star is for the customer service. The food, certainly not as good as it was, is ok- not great- not terrible. Probably prefer Chipotle at this point- at least it doesn't take an hour. My partner and I placed an order online, at the wrong location- after realizing within seconds, we tired to remedy the situation and /or cancel and switch the order to Hertel. However, there is no process for this! You can't handle it online and they don't answer the phones. No other avenues to reach them. We still have not heard back after leaving multiple emails and many phone calls over a period of a week. Aside from this issue and the decreased food quality, orders take super long and the atmosphere emanating from the bartenders is Hipster DB-esque, not friendly and and lots-to-be-desired service. I say all of this fully understanding how challenging this industry has been over the past few years and don't fault the the frontline employees but this seems to be a failure of organizational leadership. It was a last-minute decision in the midst of hunger, teetering on the brink of hanger. But Lloyd saved the day. And not only did he save the day, but he did it with such a level of prowess & flare that even the taco gods would bow down in his honor. Needless to say, Lloyd Taco Factory knocked it out of the park. Service is efficient, having an order & seat yourself situation going on. They even had a kiosk to order on your own. The atmosphere is casual, relaxed, & brags a unique decor style. And on top of it all, their menu is consolidated to perfection. I got the Dirty South taco (their modern hot take on chicken & waffles gone taco) with a side of Crack-ed Potatoes (Glory in potato form. I can't tell you about it. You have to take a bite for yourself.) and not that my picture does either of them justice, but there was a quiet, yet noticeable trend going on in their food. It's made with quality, layered flavors, & a rich decadence throughout. I left thinking about what I just ate, knowing it was special & should be appreciated as such. So, moral of the story? Quick trip to Buffalo (from Syracuse). So many terrific food choices, but I was jonesing for Mexican, so I checked out a popular local option. I got the black bean taco, the carnitas taco, and the Cortez salad (their version of a Caesar). I also had the Paloma (basically, a grapefruit margarita). The bean taco was wonderful. The carnitas were a tiny bit dry, but still tasty. Loved the salad - it's big and, if you added a protein (I didn't), it would make a nice meal for a medium-sized appetite like mine. The online ordering was terrific - tons of extras to add for a minor upcharge and space to make a comment. I follow a GF diet, which I mentioned, and some sauce was put into a separate container labeled "non-GF." I can't tell you how much that is appreciated! When I went in to get my food, it was ready to go and the service was pleasant and efficient. Some reviews here complain about the portion size, but I thought the tacos were very typical of what you find in these type of specialized taco places. I also read some complaints about the price, but I spent $20 for a yummy and filling meal (and half of that was my alcoholic drink). So I'd give the food a 4 as the burritos I've had have been solidly decent. However, the automated system they're using just sucks. You walk in and are directed to order on a screen--no alternative. It's time consuming as hell. I'd imagine for some older people or the non-tech-savvy, it's reason enough to just walk right out. And when you order online, the restaurant has made it so you can't make special requests (ie please no onions due to allergy) AND you can't reach a human at the restaurant. Last night we got our order with one burrito wrong (the chicken instead of fish, and with onions though there shouldn't be on the chicken) and one with raw onions instead of pickled. I can't eat onions. So I had no dinner. Aaaand of course you can't call and reach a human so that sucks. The two times I've had the food (fish taco, chicken bowl), it's been quite good. But I'm wary now because there's no human being to fix errors when they happen. read more

I was disappointed with Lloyd's, but I went to Williamsville location. The common dining tables were dirty with napkin containers empty. Totally not cool in this post-COVID time. The attendants/bartenders were only interested in the crowd at the bar, the food patrons seemed to be a nuisance. I was there for dinner not happy hour. Through this crazy time we are all living in Lloyds has it set up perfect. No need to walk inside which is a plus, order over the phone and walk up to the patio where they have a register to pick up your order and pay. Great Mexican fast food! The wait can be a bit long, but the food is worth the wait!

I tend to eat the same thing over and over once I find something I like on a menu, and for years, it has been the dirty south burrito here at Lloyd's. For whatever I felt adventurous this weekend and tried the crispy pig sandwich and Cortez salad. Best takeout decision I've made in quite a while. First off, the sandwich is pretty big, which I wasn't expecting. The pork was perfectly crispy with (Panko?) breading and it was really flavorful. The only thing I would have changed is the amount of sauce on it because it was really sweet. Next time I'll get it on the aide. The Cortez salad was a nice change of pace and the toasted pumpkin seeds were great. I think I found my new favorite meal at Lloyd's. read more

This location is smaller than the Williamsville location but I prefer this one. I always get a Skinny Thai and Crispy Fish taco. There is also a bar along with a cocktail list so that's always fun! I like Lloyd Taco quite a bit. Because I grew up in Southern California, I am serious about Mexican food. And this is not serious Mexican food. It is an interpretation of Mexican food. And it's good. If you are looking for an authentic experience--such as a real mole sauce--you won't find that here. But that's ok. Very tasty Mexican-styled food and good drinks to be had at Lloyd Taco. I certainly enjoy it. If you are strict or snobby about your Mexican cuisine, if you must call your rolled tacos "flautas," and if you get the vapors if a waiter asks if you want your chimichanga fried, then you might have complaints here (but not about how awesome the food actually tastes). read more
