I love it here!!! I've been several times and each time I fall more and more in love. I really enjoy the overall vibe and the crowd of people that come in and out. Everytime I stop in it's busy but it has a nice ebb and flow that doesn't make it too overwhelming. I'm sure there are days when it is constantly busy but I've been lucky enough to always get a seat. I really love that damn Snozzberry Mule!! I mean really love it. Gimme a few crispy fish tacos, crazy corn, skinny thai tacos... I mean seriously who am I kidding, I love it all. I'll eat anything with cabbage, pickled red onions, aioli and chipotle mayo. The flavors are out of this world. I seriously wish I could buy more than just the rocket sauce. If I could I would. In the last year and a half, I've had a Lloyd's at least 5-6 times through their storefront, food truck, and a catered event at my organization. They are very consistent in their quality and taste. I like how unique their tastes and flavors are. For example, instead of lettuce, they use cabbage. The corn on the cob is always very sweet with a good amount of toppings. My favorite is the Dirty South tacos and burrito since I typically enjoy combinations of sweet (via their waffle pieces and syrup) and savory. The fried fish taco is a close second. Prices are comparable to Chipotle. My only complaints are that I wish the tacos were bigger for the price ($3-4 per taco) and that the burritos have more of the Dirty South flavor to it. Sometimes the rice can hide the star of the dish. Their Aztec brownie is also very yummy. It has a bit of a chipotle powder / paprika kick to it. Good to try but I probably would not get it again for the amount. It's about the size of a cupcake for $4. They have other dessert options too and if you're feeling soft serve, go next door to their sister storefront, Churn. I'm not sure when this was implemented but they have a customer rewards system now. You can ask your cashier for more information when you order. Plenty of indoor, outdoor, and bar seating. I like their decor, as well. Clarification: When comparing the Dirty South taco to the Dirty South burrito, there is more of a sweet/savory balance and more flavor in the taco than that of the burrito (probably because of the rice in the burrito). read more

A pretty popular staple in Buffalo, my favourite part of Lloyd isn't even the tacos, it's the sides. For a taco joint, I find their tacos are just okay. They have really undersized shells that get overstuffed, so it's always a mess to eat and the options aren't anything special. But their sides really shine. This location has pretty much become a ghost kitchen that seems to serve hundreds of meals for Uber eats and DoorDash. Great, except for when you want to grab quick take out. I got there drunken chicken quesadilla and fell in love instantly. That was maybe like two or three months ago... And I ordered one every week since! The one thing I have to say is that I didn't give them a full 5 stars because every time I order on door dash they forget my extra sour cream that of course I absolutely need to eat my food... We ordered an pastor with fried chicken and dirty south burritos with the deluxe nachos and Mac and cheese appetizers and the drink combo. It's the pandemic so we used Lloyds to mask our feelings. The food never disappoints. Good portion size and super fresh. A common problem with other burrito joints is dried meat; they'd usually try to compensate by adding more sauce or condiments. The proteins at Lloyd's aren't over cooked; well seasoned so that the condiments highlight, not overpower, them. I tried the skinny Thai burrito with tofu before and surprisingly enjoyed it. Not enough to get it again cause you know, if I had wanted tofu, I should have ordered a salad instead. It was a pricey take out dinner. Good thing we ordered drinks. read more

Lloyd is a landmark Buffalo gem. I've been a fan and a customer since their pioneering trucks first hit the streets. The owners are great people, the staff is friendly, and their stores are cozy. Vegan options are limited. They've always had black beans as a vegan protein. Bean tacos and burritos can be ordered without cheese. And the rocket sauce will knock your socks off. The tofu-based skinny thai tacos and burritos are a more recent addition. It took some digging to get confirmation that the peanut sauce was made without fish sauce. For a few years I've been a huge fan of their Cracked Potatoes, ordered vegan (or so I thought) by holding the spicy mayo. After hearing troubling rumors, I just got confirmation from Lloyd that the crack sauce has honey in it. They can be ordered without the mayo and crack sauce. I let them know I was disappointed, and they immediately reached out and assured me that they will take steps to make menu ingredients more widely available. I'm encouraged by this big move, and I will continue to be a loyal fan of their Skinny Thai burritos and Churn plant-based ice creams. read more

I'm thrilled they opened on Hertel. Happy there is a great bar here too. Walking in you can choose - get in line to order food, or head to the bar. Id recommend heading to the bar. Its great. Beautiful. Very fun cocktail list. All can be made as mocktails as well. Nice place to sit. Huge selection of mezcals. But, if you go order food you wait on line to order, then wait for them to call your name to pick up said order, I'd say perhaps 10 min wait, so not too bad. The menu includes their "famous" tacos and the tricked out nachos, some quesadillas, burritos and more. You order and go find a seat. They have both small tables and a long table in the middle where various groups can sit. I don't mind the configuration. But the comfort in seating is lacking. I am not sure why new restaurants have such uncomfortable seating these days. I give this place 5 stars for the bar. But I just don't "get" the food here, and even after visiting a few times I still don't get it. I enjoy the tricked out nachos the most and that's what Ill stick to ordering from now on I think. The quesadillas were VERY heavy on cheese and low on flavor. The tacos just don't appeal to me. The burrito a companion had was deemed "fine". I love that this is locally owned but got national recognition. I love that they really think about where their products come from. I love that they are making their own shells using a process that's been in place for centuries I imagine. For the food and uncomfortable seating, I can only give 3 stars. Lloyd is a Buffalo institution and brand - started as a first food truck in the area - and now they have a few brick and mortars and at least four trucks. I've eaten here on a number of occasions and each time, I appreciate the fast casual nature of Lloyd. Since they have Churn next door (only open seasonally), sometimes getting a taco followed by an ice cream and coffee next door is one of the most comforting indulgences. As far as tacos go - my fave are the skinny thai and the fish tacos. The taco portions are pretty small, but I find 3 tacos generally tides me over pretty well. The KRAZY KORN is amazing too and if it's in season, give it a try--the nachos are pretty tasty comfort foods too and just recently they enabled online ordering, so for those days you want some tasty nachos to watch your Netflix with, ohh yeah - Lloyd is the guy. Overall, I'm happy they opened up a brick&mortar - the bar here is beautiful and well regarded as well, although I don't drink...so you won't find me sitting there very often. All in all, this place is popular. If there's a line though - it moves quick, so don't let that discourage you. read more

Lloyd Taco Truck opening a sit down restaurant and bar is basically Buffalo's dream come true. The food is obviously delicious and it's a really fun place to hang out! The menu includes lots of Buffalo's food truck favorites, as well as some new tasty additions: burritos, quesadillas, tacos, nachos, salads, side dishes and desserts. The restaurant also added a bacon wrapped hot dog, Mexican Spring Rolls and El Santo Steak Skewers to their menu. They make their own tortillas right at the factory and they are phenomenal! Everything is wonderful, but I have a few favorite menu items: 1. Lloyd original burrito with choice of protein (roasted pork, grilled chicken, braised beef or black beans): Homemade tortilla filled with pork, rice & beans, cheddar cheese, shredded cabbage, chimi sauce & roja sauce 2. Everything you love about the truck, all wrapped up in a cozy little establishment on Hertel Avenue. I came here on a weekday toward the end of the lunch hour, and it was pretty busy! It's a pretty small space, so I can't imagine how busy the place could get over the weekend, but with Lloyd the lines can typically get pretty long. Things moved pretty quickly here though, and by the time we got to the front of the line and ordered our food, most of the crowd had cleared out and there were empty seats everywhere. The menu offers your typical Lloyd classics, plus a few extras. I love ordering their fish tacos whenever they're available at the trucks, so seeing that on the menu here made me gravitate toward it almost immediately. I ordered a taco and their macaroni and cheese, which is historically pretty good too. Both were absolutely delicious, of course. I like that they have a bar here, and I feel like it draws people in even more. I'm not a big fan of alcohol, but I did try the Snozzberry Mule and I thought it was delicious. It felt nice being able to actually sit down somewhere and enjoy food from one of my favorite trucks around here. Don't get me wrong, I love hunting down food trucks. But even if you find yourself asking the question, "Where's Lloyd?", you don't have to hunt them down through social media. You can always find them on Hertel. read more

Maybe I am the only person in Buffalo who is not blown away by the tacos here. I don't know what it is but it's not type of bufmex favorite. It's a clean set up, looks very fresh and new, prices are reasonable to high on the burrito and chips and the flavors are fresh. Just not my cup of tea as far as taste. I find their flavors a little too sweet and the cabbage instead of lettuce is good for the crunch but I just think over all a lot of the sweet sauce and just not my favorite. Great find in buffalo, credit goes to a buffalo local. The history as told by my friend is they started out as food truck and got so popular they opened up a location. The tacos are bite size so you might want to order multiple to satiate if you are starving. They have loaded potatoes that are just OMG! I went for skinny Thai taco(these guys can make tofu taste so good) and the chicken taco. Parking is limited in the area so you might want to drive a little before you find a spot. You can order your food and sit anywhere. They have outdoor seating as well. I was told weekends are pretty busy with long lines through the entrance door. I love the dirty south burrito. The crunchy fried chicken, the honey, the waffle, and the slaw are all delicious. The honey gives your tastebuds a dose of sweet wine the slaw gives it a little bite. Not a lot of people realize that any of those taco selections can also come in burrito form. However, since I have had this burrito many times I can also tell your how inconsistent it can be depending on who is making it. Sometimes they are generous with the honey, sometimes it is sparse. Today I had lunch at Lloyd's on Hertel with six other family members. Overall the majority of the food was very good. The exception was the two six-packs of churros. They were so caked in baked crusted excess cinnamon that my granddaughter needed to scrape big mounds off before she could attempt to eat them. The churros were inedible to the point of stinging a child's taste buds. Other family members tried them and joked that maybe Lloyds was trying to recreate the TikTok cinnamon challenge. I brought the unopened six-pack to the order desk and explained the issue. I was told that another batch would be the same. I have had Lloyd's tacos for years now, but only from the truck. I found out through a friend that they were offering rock squid tostada as a special at their Hertel location, so I had to try it out. We got there on a Tuesday evening and got in line to order at the counter. I got the squid toatada and a fish taco. The cashier was sweet and efficient. My friends had the mexican corn on the cob and the fried potato with cheese. The squid tostadas were delicious! Perfectly fried squid with cabbage slaw and sauces that created a symphony of flavors. The tortilla was a bit tough to bite into, but I got over that quickly. My fish taco was a bit disappointing. The fish itself lacked flavor. Not the worst fish taco I have had and not the worst. The wait to order food was ridiculous. There was 2 people in front of us and we had to wait about 8 minutes to get to the ordering screen. If they hired a person to take orders they would be able to answer guest questions about the menu and greatly speed up the process. They have an online ordering service, but that doesn't help you if you have questions. They'll suggest a tip even though you are the one who will be picking up your food, napkins, silverware and cleaning up your trash when your done. There is quite a lot of bar height seating in this restaurant so if you use a wheelchair like me your out of luck if it's busy and all the standard height tables are used up. The wait for our food seemed long. The food was good and fresh. I wasn't thrilled with the texture of the poppers. The ratio of cheese to crispy wrapper was to cheesy for my taste. The mother clucker was essentially their take on a Nashville hot chicken sandwich and they pulled it off well. My husband would have preferred a slightly larger shell with the same amount of filling for his tacos. Total bill for poppers, 2 tacos, mother clucker, coke and water was $37 They have a nice bar area. It looks like a cool bar to have drinks at. read more

I feel the need to update this. I've been back quite a few times since my first time so it's only fair. While I didn't really like the food the first couple times, it's been on point the last couple months when I have gone. I tried the Friend Zone drink which is made with tequila and mezcal and delicious. Sarah also makes a great skinny margarita. For food, the drunken quesadilla with chicken I strongly recommend. The chicken burrito is great too. Also, the crazy corn, though messy and probably not the best option for a first date, is always delicious.
