We started with complimentary chips & salsa, a frozen paloma and jalapeno poppers. The chips & salsa were good, but pretty standard for a Mexican restaurant. The paloma had a nice grapefruity taste and came garnished with a beautiful edible flower. The jalapeno poppers were just a cooked from frozen appetizer (my dad's pick) and in my opinion they were ok. Definitely not something I would choose to order at a Mexican restaurant haha. La Fiesta Cantina was a quick little stop for my boyfriend and me while we were traveling. I was craving tacos, so we ordered online and grabbed the food to go. When I went inside to pick it up, I noticed the space was decorated with colorful Mexican accents and had a warm, welcoming feel. Everything looked clean and well kept, which I always appreciate. Service was quick and the pickup process was smooth. I ordered the chicken tacos and guacamole. The guacamole was made in a way I have never had before, and I actually really enjoyed it. It had a different twist that worked well. The chicken tacos were good. If I am being picky, I usually prefer pulled chicken on my tacos, but I still enjoyed them overall. The view from our table onto Allen Street, the interaction with the server, the food, and the overall atmosphere were all truly enjoyable. The Enchiladas Supreme with Mole Sauce was outstanding, although it was a little light on the amount of sauce on top. My Pollo Cancún had all my favorite flavors. Plus the chicken and shrimp were cooked to perfection. The biggest surprise was the Chile Poblano from the side orders menu. It was a substantial breaded poblano pepper, generously stuffed with cheese, and topped with a truly delicious sauce. This dish is a must-try for sharing. The atmosphere is lively and warm, I enjoy people watching while I wait for friends to arrive. The Sabres game was on so it was being broadcast from every tv!! I went here on a Friday during the day and there were not many people there, but we ate outside. They have a cute little area in front of the restaurant and you can see all the action on allen. I got a burrito and fries with a mango frozen margarita. The food was good, a little pricey for the burrito being kind of small, but I would go back and try something different. One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the area, quickly speeding past a few others staples that I visit. The decore is pretty typical, I appreciate their attention to detail as their name is carved into the benches. Although it can be a bit cramped due to the little distance between tables the chairs and benches themselves are pretty comfortable. The food has been really good, in fact the mole sauce is my absolute favorite. I stick to a few favorites when coming routinely. Went for lunch and got one of their lunch specials and I really. I had the El Primo burrito which was filled with chorizo and chicken and came with refried beans and rice. Beyond the deliciousness of the food, the service was top-notch! They were so quick that food came out blazing fast and I'm talking from the time we ordered to the time it got to table felt like less than five minutes, even though I'm sure it was a little longer than that. Barely had time to save her my chips and salsa, lol. Definitely will go back again to try more things on the menu and possibly check out the patio before it gets too cool outside. read more

All I can say is WOW! This new spot blew away all my expectations going in. I had heard of this new spot a couple months ago but kept getting sidetracked from going. I finally went and I am kicking myself for not going sooner. I usually get carne asada tacos but decided to switch it up with a new place and tried their Al Pastor tacos. I am so glad I did. They were absolutely phenomenal! The flavors were so complimentary of each other with the pineapple and pork. The onion on top was fresh. Cannot be happier with them. The rice and beans were also very good. It was a large portion size too. But I always can tell how good a place is going to be by their chips and salsa. I knew it was going to be a good meal because the salsa was a great flavor with just the right amount of heat and the chips were very good. I kept going back to the chips and salsa even when my food came out. The restaurant has a great modern vibe but also has that cantina quality. The tables and booths were all clean and nicely themed. Our service was incredible. So much so that I felt like it only took a few minutes after we ordered before we got our food. So fast. I will definitely be back here for more. 5/5 stars **La Fiesta Cantina** I came to La Fiesta Cantina for dinner, but I left feeling like I'd just been on a culinary vacation to both Mexico and the Dominican. Somebody call my travel agent because I need to book a trip ASAP! Let's start with the Mango Ceviche. This dish was a tropical party on a plate, shrimp so fresh I'm pretty sure it winked at me, marinated in citrus with mango and avocado that made my taste buds do a happy salsa dance. The pico de gallo was the confetti, and the colorful tortilla chips around it were basically my cheerleaders as I scooped up every last bite. I felt like I needed a sombrero to match the vibe. Then came the Birria Chimichangas and oh my goodness, these crispy beauties were stuffed with juicy birria meat, cheese, onions, and cilantro, topped with avocado sauce, sour cream, and pico de gallo. It was like a flavor explosion that made me question all my life choices up until that moment why haven't I been eating these every day?! The consommé on the side for dipping was so good I almost asked for a straw. I added rice and beans for an extra $2, and it was worth every penny. Now, let's talk about the piña colada, hands down the best I've had since my last trip to the Dominican Republic . It was so creamy and perfectly sweet, with just the right amount of rum to make me feel like I was lounging on a beach with sand between my toes. I closed my eyes and could practically hear the steel drums. I'm now daydreaming about booking a getaway because this drink reminded me how much I miss those vibes. The staff was amazing, though they did chuckle when I asked if I could move into the kitchen to be closer to the food. The portions were large enough that none of us finished and one had enough for another whole meal. We did not order any special drinks this time but will be back and may at that time. La Fiesta is a great New Mexican restaurant on Allen. The owners have really done a good job making the space beautiful and welcoming as well as creating a great outdoor dining area. We tried it day one and let me say that when we tried it weeks later after they had gotten their stride it was 100% better. I had tacos a la Diabla the second visit and they were delicious. I've since ordered them again during Allentown art fest as take away and they were equally delicious. The order comes with two types is salsa (hot and milder) as well as beans and rice. I also tried a traditional lime Margarita on the rocks and it was perfect as well as very beautifully presented with a lime wedge and orchid blossom. I also tried an odd drink item with beet juice, a beet forward margarita - if you like beets I suggest you try it. It was good! The cheese and chorizo dip is also on point and chips are colorful and delicious with the accompanying salsa. You should note that at night this joint is more night clubby with louder music and lights. If that's your jam I totally recommend checking it out them. If not I recommend going for lunch or an early dinner and enjoying the beautiful patio if weather permits. read more

The corn tortilla seem like they were make in house and super fresh. The jalapeño poppers were good but not sure if they were made I house or frozen. I forgot to ask. The corn dip was actually good, but the size of it does not match the price at all. We asked multiple times for water and napkins, but they never brought it out. What a refreshing and pleasing transformation of the old Don Tequilas! It has been upgraded to a far more sophisticated space compared to what it was previously. The bartender Abbey was quite pleasant and made a fabulous margarita! They offer a wide selection of beers, tequilas as well as craft cocktails to choose from. The food menu is large but not overly so. Of course, they offer Mexican fare and a small selection of American fare. The first round of chips and house-made salsa are complimentary. I had their offering of three tacos, rice, and refried beans. I chose chicken, chorizo, and carnitas for my tacos served on corn tortillas with sides of avocado and a wonderful house sauce. Don't use any credit cards here. Period. I've been here four or five times since the relaunch not long ago. Always good food and Margs but bar service is spotty. Never seen the same tender twice, not a good sign. Three weeks ago I had a late dinner at the bar and made the mistake of giving them my card at the beginning of my visit and I didn't receive it back immediately. An imprint is one thing, holding it is another. This visit was on Friday and by Wednesday I received texts that the card was used three times, first was an imprint as usual, the others were manually entered. This sent an alert then my being contacted by the issuer. Charges were immediately removed but I had to wait more than a week to get the replacement card. Luckily my cc company is in top of things and caught this theft. A cool place in the Elmwood area but at this point, not worth the chance...unless you have cash. read more

I was devastated when Don Tequila closed. This place is AMAZING!! I usually always get choriqueso, but switched up it for the one with ground beef and pico de gallo. The cheese pull is unreal and I could bath in it. One of the best quesos I've ever had. Chili poblanos are my favorite, they are huge and delish. I also got the birria burrito. Better believe I smothered it in that queso. Omg and the fries!! Thought the prices were a bit steep. Not at all. For the quality, taste and massive portions it's worth every penny. Was looking forward to trying this place after waiting for the renovation to be finished. Just finished eating there and let me provide a quick summary. Chips were stale and served on paper plates. Margaritas were extremely watered down and $10, which would be fine if they tasted good. Food was terrible (especially for the price) and that's being generous. Birria tacos were completely flavorless; it is clear they do not use ANY salt/seasonings. The chimichangas were fried in rancid/bitter oil. As someone who has tried many of the Mexican restaurants in Buffalo, do not go here. Casa Azul, El Toro, Taqueria El Dorado, Taqueria Las Mayas, and Maizals are all MUCH better. As a side note, they should have spent less time/money on decaling their chairs/tables and more on the food. If the owners see this - be better.
