The night before the service was scheduled they still hadn't assigned a person to do the work. I had a 2 hour drive to the property, so I suggested we just continue looking for someone and postpone the service until they could find someone. They wanted to charge me a 50% fee to cancel- because they hadn't found anyone. They assured me they would have someone but they were having trouble getting someone with 2 trucks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I drove to the house the next day- the service window was from 9 to noon. I called multiple times, no one assigned on the website and no one showed up[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. They wanted to extend the service time to 8 pm. And when I again said lets just look for another day they wanted to charge me a 100% fee for cancelling- CANCELLING WHAT? So they found someone to do it the next day. I drove back and a guy shows up with just himself and 1 truck. He showed me a couple of pictures of what he was suppose to pick up. It was only a small percentage of what I had shown pictures of and what I had discussed that needed to be picked up. I assisted him in the clean out of as much as we could get in one truck and I hired someone else to finish the job. Paid for 2 strong men to be able to take a very heavy couch out. I think I paid $207, or $247. Well!! I only got 1 strong man and his wife that was 5 months pregnant. The strong man got 2 out of 3 done. The couch is still where it was when the strong man got here. I wouldn't aloud him to even try because I know how heavy the couch is. They showed up on time. Reason for the poor review is that I submitted a picture of my old couch, which was very large prior to pick up. When they arrived I was surprised by who showed up. I believe they were a husband and wife and the wife said she brings her husband to do all of the heavy lifting. While that is fine, due to the size and weight of my couch, it really wasn't a 1 person move. The man dragged my couch across the floor and left several scratches on the floor. He did not take any steps to protect my floor or my walls. I contacted the company a few days after to tell them about my experience. They told me to fill out a complaint online. I used LoadUp for a 2 story colonial house and 2 car garage clean up. It was a big job. I uploaded more than 50 pictures documenting how much stuff there was in the house, the basement, the attic, the garage, the garage attic, the furnace room and the shed under the porch. They said it would cost $2000 and would be done in 4-6 hours. They required up front payment. When I explained that I normally pay 50% to reserve the slot and the other 50% when the job is done, they said trust was important and that's the only way they work. Based on positive reviews, I decided to go ahead and "trust" that customer service would be able to get the job done. Day 1: The job was scheduled for Sunday, June 8. The team that showed up asked for an additional $700 in cash and said they were not certified to take the antifreeze or paint. They also said it would take 2 days for the 2 man team with a small van to get the job done. LoadUp incorrectly scoped the job. LoadUp customer support provided no support beyond blaming their subcontractors for incorrectly scoping the job in spite of my exhaustive documentation of the clean up required. Day 2: The team that came on June 9th was better, but that team did not finish in the 4-6 hours promised. Day 3: It took a 3rd team (part of the 2nd team) another day, June 10 to finish the job. This team was exceptional: they came at 7 am and did not leave until 8:15 pm. These people worked like crazy and in fact left the property broom swept. LoadUp was unprofessional and did not scope the job accurately. LoadUp told me the job would be done in 4-6 hours, but I had to wait 3 days to have it done. As the customer, I had painters waiting around for 2 days and I had to reschedule cleaners and stagers. The subcontractors had to work for 2 days and no doubt they only got paid for a 4-6 hour job. Worse yet, LoadUp did not take ownership of their mistake. Their customer service would not send an additional team and split the job into a house and garage cleanup, so that each team could focus on one part. They gave me a 10% discount, but I wasted much more time uploading pictures showing how the job was not done on Sunday, Monday & Tuesday than the $200 discount they offered. Moreover I tipped the third team more than the $200 because they were the real rockstars. LoadUp only cares about their margins above their customers or the suppliers. They don't care about the loaders because they are not their employees (as customer service pointed out to me numerous times). They give you the details of the subs and then you have to manage the subs yourself. it's a terrible business model in which LoadUp makes money and the customers take on the project management work and the suppliers get squeezed. Moreover, customer support does nothing other than listen as when you call to ask for a solution when a deadline is being missed you are looking for therapy instead of additional resources to meet the deadline. They do not support the customer by changing the strategy and providing the solution, they just "listen." I would never use them again. read more
