Could not have been more impressed with what seems like a cute little spot, but it's actually large. Nice bar on level 1 with seating, upstairs seating for groups and the chillest outdoor dining area. Really great service and really great vibes!! Very family atmosphere. Chill and relaxing. The food is delicious and the drinks are strong and also delicious. Best Mexican spot I've been in the area hands down. Be advised, cash or Venmo only.

"Nachos" with 5 chips and the size of my female hand

We came on a Thursday at peak dinner and the upstairs portion was completely empty. The waitress was very attentive and took orders promptly. The Margs were low on the alcohol, but tasted fresh. Please if you want good food, go somewhere else. The nachos came with 6 chips. Literally 6, like my group of 3 each got 2 chips. My pulled pork burrito was dripping a River underneath, it came apart within minutes. And on top of that, this place is cash only with not cash prices. Maybe stop in for their hh before 6pm, but otherwise would not recommend.

Extremely disappointed with my first (and last ) time visit since 2019. I don't even know where to begin and I'm probably being too generous by giving 1 star. Quite the switch from my previous stellar review. Decided to have brunch here today since I had memorable ones just 3+ years ago when I cited stellar service and abundant food. Everything has changed. The waiter (I think I recognize him from the past) claimed Lobo is under new owner/manager but it doesn't state that online. Browsing the menu, gone was the omelet with 2 added ingredients. They don't honor the Yelp check in for the free guacamole despite it still being live on Yelp. The complimentary basket of chips and salsa was also eliminated. Today's order for 2 were identical: Strawberry Mimosa (I didn't even taste a hint of strawberry) and The Tulsa. We asked for a pico de galllo substitute instead of the lard infused refried beans. The waiter had to think about it but finally agreed. Service was quite poor. Just 2 tables in total dining in. We sat in the patio section which was still pleasant. The Tulsa was 2 eggs any style, cheese grits and a choice of tortilla or toast. My order was customized for eggs over medium and unbuttered whole wheat toast. It looked good at a glance upon arrival, but was mediocre at best. For one thing, the toast had an odd under flavor. Was it the grains or just stale bread? The eggs were good but it's hard to ruin eggs. The eggs sat on the perfect square cheese grits. The orange processed cheese was layered over the grits and overall, the meal was a hot mess. I just don't understand why the Yelp perk couldn't be honored yet exist on the app. The menu changed dramatically as did the service. Comparing to my last time visit, it was awful. With very little effort being put into this restaurant maybe it's time to move on and close down to make room for another restaurant. Do yourself a favor and take yourself and your money (which is CASH ONLY) elsewhere. Adios!

Lobo is always a winner. Absolutely delicious Mexican food. They will also make off menu items if you know what to ask for and are kind to the server. My family started coming to Lobo 20 years ago and we can't get enough. Great food, service, and ambience. One word of advice - bring cash. They are cash only!!

Two side dishes were decent. The steak covered with too much breading! Extremely skinny piece of meat. 1 star for the steak:((

Food was 2star. Really just eatable. We ended up here was because my little boy needed a bathroom. Wish the food was as good as the service.

Having spent plenty of time in Tejas (that's Texas in Spanish, you uncultured buffoon), I am now going to pretend I'm an expert on Tex-Mex cuisine. ___________ I really like Lobo. And when I say that, I mean that I really like a lot of things ABOUT Lobo (and even the things I didn't like initially have grown on me over the years). The first of which is the delicious margaritas (which actually have the effect of making everything else better as well) served by great bartenders, ideally during happy hour. Other great things about Lobo: -The awesome backyard. -The cute, cozy upstairs dining area that I didn't know existed, but now spend too much time in. -Free chips and salsa, which is always nice. -Huge portions. Seriously, huge. How huge? Two regular human beings could easily split the combo plates and be full. Believe me, you will remember The Alamo (one chicken enchilada, one beef burrito topped with tex-mex con carne and a bean and cheese chalupa) because it will still be sitting in your stomach three hours later. I once ate the Carnitas Extravaganza on the recommendation of the waitress (she said to get it if I liked "huge, and pork, and egg," which are three of my favorite things), and it made me realize that if everyone in NYC ate like this all the time, they would start to look like everyone in Houston. The wedge salad, a freaking SALAD, is more than a full meal for a normal human being. It's got more bacon than you'd ever expect, basically a full avocado, and if you add shrimp or chicken to it you're good. Please understand that this is not the best Mexican food you can get in NYC. But it is an insane value that comes with good service and great margaritas, it's the best option before or after a film at Cobble Hill across the street, and it's an excellent foil for the numerous tiny-portioned, expensive options nearby.

Lobo is decent. They serve tex-mex and beverages at Cobble Hill prices; don't expect a cheap meal. The flavors of the food are fine, but devouring a full plate's worth gets a little boring. Props to the wait staff, it's clear that the people who work here are serious about it.

A friendly neighborhood spot known for its Texas and Mexican dishes. Friendly and welcoming bartenders, and a good mix of clients. I recommend the bbq spare ribs, the fried pickles, and the Okie caviar. Enjoy.

Great backyard Mexican restaurant in Brooklyn if you're looking for Telmex classics. Margs are huge and the Tex me. Menu is wide from jambalaya to tacos.

Stopped in one lunch one Saturday and had a great experience. Our waiter was fantastic and took great care of us. We had margaritas, chips with queso and quac (free with Yelp checkin and amazing entre!), and tacos with rice and beans. The portions were so huge we couldn't finish our plates and had to take to-go boxes. They have seating upstairs and downstairs, there is a huge bar and only a few tables down stairs and the bathroom is located upstairs. We sat at a table by the window downstairs and I really enjoyed the street view. The bar was huge too, I would go back to checkout their happy hour. The theme of the restaurant was both Mexican food and "big Texas plates" that included options like chicken-fried steak, baby back ribs and catfish. We stuck with the Mexican options, but I would try the brunch menu next time.

First time in NYC and staying in Brooklyn. Want to try a good Tex mex restaurant. Would you recommend Lobo? Any other mexi places in Brooklyn?

I would! But I love Bar Bruno's guacamole.

Sitting at the bar, it was only me one other patron and the bartender (with the host nearby). Had a great time talking, it was a slow day so we all really had a great time. Conveniently located near Union Square/14th Street on the Lexington Avenue Line, Javelina is fairly easy to get to from Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan. The restaurant itself is downstairs from the street, but not quite a basement. There is a bar when you first enter on the left, and tables back to the kitchen. The space is usually quite loud, and it can be a bit cramped at times. Don't be surprised if you find yourself raising your voice a bit to keep up. Upon seating, you will (eventually) be offered chips and salsa, and someone will take your drink order. Things can take a bit of time here, especially at busy times, so do not expect the top tier of restaurant service by any stretch of the imagination. The menu features fajitas, and I cannot imagine ordering anything else. The queso is a lovely appetizer, though the trio feels a bit small for the price. If you order fajitas, you will notice another shortcoming of this restaurant, the tables can feel a bit cramped. This is something that comes with the territory in Manhattan dining but do not feel surprised if you end up having to rearrange things on your table to accommodate a delicious platter of sizzling fajitas. The fajitas themselves are fine, and probably the most consistent I've found here in the city. I would not be surprised if there were better places for fajitas elsewhere but in my research this seemed like the best option. Requests have been missed before in my experience (I recall ordering a certain salsa that never came) and because the waiters seem a bit overwhelmed, it hard to address it before you'd want to eat. Overall, this place will scratch the itch for fajitas, but the service is lacking. I'll probably find myself wanting fajitas again in the future and return, but every time I visit I find myself just a little bit disappointed that a good restaurant is not great.

Our reservation was for 8:30pm, but we arrived early and Alejandra, the hostess, was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Even though she was ready to seat us, we decided to hang at the bar until the rest of our party arrived and that was the perfect move. Alkarys behind the bar was top-tier. She recommended the Siempre Reposado, and let me tell you... smooth, clean, dangerously good. If you're into tequila, that's a must. Now let's talk about the food. We ordered the quesadilla, rajas, tamales, tacos, and the queso fundido and every single dish hit. The queso fundido came out bubbling, rich, perfectly melted with that pull you want when you scoop it up. The tamales were moist and packed with flavor, wrapped beautifully and clearly made with care. The rajas had that perfect balance of roasted pepper sweetness and savory depth. The tacos? Authentic, well-seasoned, and layered with flavor, no shortcuts. Even the quesadilla stood out, crispy on the outside with that perfectly melted interior. Everything felt traditional, elevated but still true to its roots. You can taste the authenticity. Service was attentive without being overbearing, the ambiance was super casual and laid back, the kind of Brooklyn spot you pull up to for a real dinner experience, not just a quick bite. Highly recommend this place if you're out and about in Brooklyn. Definitely coming back for the tequila, the queso fundido, and round two of those tacos. I'm gonna try eating at the bar to check out the spot in the front of the house.
