Stopped by Miatzil for drinks after a Saturday brunch in the neighborhood. The space feels modern, with a long bar and TVs, there were a few games on while we were there. We caught happy hour (Saturday/Sunday from 3-6pm), which made it a great value. Most cocktails and bites were around $10. We had margaritas, and I also tried the Paloma, both were refreshing and enjoyable. My friend ordered tacos, which they liked. This was our first visit to Miatzil. There were 4 of us, the hub and I and another couple -- and we made it to the restaurant in time to enjoy the last hour of their Friday Happy Hour (it ends at 6pm that day; other days -- M/T/W/Th -- it ends at 7pm). Who doesn't enjoy a delicious margarita for $10? And we love a resto where you can enjoy HH anywhere, i.e. it is not relegated to the bar. We fit in a few rounds and also tried out their $10 HH food options, including two types of tacos, nachos and mussels. All were solid, though the sauce for the mussels could have a bit more flavor. Still, though, where can you get mussels with two pieces of toasted bread for $10? We continued on the merriment after HH and enjoyed additional margs (it was one of those nights of bad decisions, ha ha) at the regular price of $17. Their cocktail list is impressive, so there's much more to choose from than straight-forward margs if you're not into that option. In terms of food, we got: guacamole, Paella Mexicana, Enmoladas and Tacos (Brisket & Carnitas). Everything was delicious. Our server was attentive and unobtrusive. We will definitely return here for Happy Hour -- I think it's our new fave. (Our go-to's for HH before finding Miatzil were Chela and Fonda, both of which have strengths and weaknesses.) read more

Very flavorful consomme and perfectly cooked beef. The tortilla was crispy enough that you could eat the slices like a pizza. The tinga de pollo tacos were very good, good tortilla, juicy and tasty pulled chicken. The molcajete had a delicious sauce, flavorful chorizo, nicely cooked shrimp. The steak was a bit overdone. Visited this restaurant last night and was blown away by the ambiance. I tried finding videos on tik tok and the ones that did appear did not give it the justice that it needs! The food and drinks were good. For drinks, I had the FresaBrosa, it was really good and I had was Once in New York, which was good as well, but strong lime taste. My cousin, had La Pasion de Julieta and La Caprichosa, she enjoyed both drinks. She was able to substitute the alcohol of her choice. As for the food, we had the Paella Mexicana and Ribeye steak, both really good options. And we couldn't forget the esquite, I just wish it had some Tajin sprinkled on it. For dessert, we had our favorite, churros with vanilla ice cream! As for the service, they're pretty relaxed, especially if you're unsure of what you want to order. They allow you to take as long as you need and when you're ready, wave a hand to get their attention. They played Mexican cultural music throughout the night. Just got back from an excellent meal at Miatzil. Went with my -not-the biggest-fan of Mexican husband and two kds and we all were blown away. This is hands down the best Mexican I've had in Park Slope and I've lived here for 20+ years. Everything from the guacamole to the tacos to the chicken tortilla soup to the churros were very authentic and delicious. Also, the best skinny margarita I've had. Happy to return to this local Mexican favorite. Given the heat and humidity outside, we immediately appreciated the invitingly cool space. The mezcalita was a lovely accompaniment to a deliciously spicy guacamole and thick, homey tortilla chips. I had the chicken enmoladas smothered in a dark, rich mole topped with sesame seeds - the sauce was just sweet enough. I fell in love with this place and their cuisine. Miatzil is a casual place with a great Mexican atmosphere located in the Park Slope. We are found this place completely by accident, we arrived there around 5 pm and it's wasn't busy, so we were lucky because we didn't make reservations before. Mexican music playing there, but not loudly, and it was great because we could communicate and listen to each other. The waiters were friendly. We decided to order a few dishes and share, so we had a lot of options for dinner. We ordered Paella mexicana (Shrimp, mussels, Mexican sausage, veggies, yellow rice), Arrachera (Skirt steak with a mushroom creamy sauce on top. Served with mashed potatoes), Pulpo al guajillo (Grilled octopus, guajillo sauce, cambray onions, potatoes) and classic Caesar salad. I received gustatory pleasure from the dishes we ordered, everything was well prepared and the steak was cooked perfect ( medium level of steak doneness). Beware the hidden fees. Food was okay. Service was okay. We were very surprised to see a 4% "hospitality fee" added to our bill. Restaurants seem to think nowadays they can sneak these fees onto the bill without telling you in advance. Is it for credit card fees? Extra tip? Cost of avocado? Who knows?
