So we were being tourists driving the loop - and found this super cute restaurant. We got there just when they opened luckily. I had the lobster roll which was very good BUT so small I almost couldn't believe it. It was only 15.00 while most places charge 20 and up, however I think I would rather have paid another 5.00 and gotten little more to eat bigger bun and more lobster. I chose the butternut squash as my side which was delicious, so I ordered another bowl of it to help fill me up. One of our party had the baked haddock and another a bacon cheese burger with onion rings, both said their meals were very good. While we were eating, we noticed another table got rolls - we did not get rolls. We would have like them while we waited. Overall - it was a good stop, cute décor, friendly wait staff and hostess. The name should be changed to "tourist trap". What a disappointment this was. We were first time visitors to NH, so we stopped by for lunch since we were craving New England seafood. For starters the place looks dirty and messy. That should have been a sign of what the food was going to be like. The calamari was a small portion and mediocre tasting. The lobster rolls were a joke... Ridiculously small and tasteless. The coleslaw that came with mine was even more tasteless. The two waitresses were nice but all other staff seemed unfriendly. The first thing we did on arriving in Conway after 20 years was to ask if this restaurant was still there. We were delighted it was and had two great meals there. If you love lobster, you will love this restaurant. It is all about the food and the service. We had lobster rolls, lobster stew and lobster pie. All had great big pieces of lobster and were delicious. All very reasonably priced. The meals come with rolls, salad ( very fresh) or chowder and your entree. And if you want to taste the absolute best blueberry pie in the world, order a piece here. We would eat here every week if we lived in North Conway. read more

I made reservations for 5:00 pm due to a group of 5 adults and my 5 and 7 year old grandsons. It was not at all crowded when we arrived. However, our waitress, Karen, whose name I asked for specifically because I planned to write this review based on her service, was so abrupt and rude to us. She was so quick to respond to a question before it was even out of our mouth. And her attitude seem to show total impatience, not just to our grandson who is just beginning to develop social skills in the world but also to us adults who have those skills. We left more of a tip than she deserved. I would not go back even though the food was good. She ruined this visit for us. read more

I feel sure the lobsters would have been good because they have lots of live lobsters but we went for lunch and wanted the lobster roll. The place seems pretty clean. Service on our first lunch was great... On our second visit it was poor. Portion size are to small but so are the prices....frankly charge me more but give me more! And get a chef who can make some great side dishes, cold slaw, give me a great crip salad with good home made dressing and give me a big bowl of home made soup... I'd give it less than a one if I coud. Way overpriced for the portions and quality. Got baked stuffed shrimp it was shrimp with some oily cracker dumped on top and added the sirloin to it which was obviously frozen when they threw it on the grill cuz the outside was cooked and the inside was purple. Told the waitress and she said that's medium I could cook a better steak with my eyes closed. My wife had the lobster roll which was all soggy bread and some frozen lobster. We adore this place. We found it by accident 10 years ago and were so happy to find it again. Nothing's changed - in fact, it's better than ever. Our servers, Rita and Kerri, were beyond compare. They knew what we needed almost before we did. And the cocktail Rita personally mixed for me - a Hurricane - was as good as anything New Orleans has to offer. The food is even better than the service, and that's saying a mouthful. My husband had the steamed clams and I had the deep-fried lobster with homemade onion rings (with the melted butter, this should be illegal but it's pure ambrosia ). The only bad thing about this meal is that we couldn't eat it all over again 15 minutes later. If you're looking for fancy-schmancy, this isn't for you. If an utterly fresh, delicious seafood meal served by people who really care is your goal, go to the Lobster Trap. read more

I used to eat here regularly - i have a place down the road. Ordered take out from their website and when I got there, the prices were higher and it didn't come with sides as noted on website. Also, the prices and sides are different than on the local radio channel ad that keeps repeating prices and menu. It's like a bait and switch. This is the second time in the past year and I won't go back just because of the false advertising. I am planning to contact the chamber of commerce about this. Evev the take out menu that they hand you has different prices and side dishes than the main menu. I was totally disgusted and won't eat there again or recommend the place to anyone. read more

Visited the Lobster Trap over the holidays. Great, friendly service, and the best lobster I have had in a long time. According to our waitress, the lobster comes from northern Maine where the water is colder and produces tastier lobsters. This out of the way place is worth the trip if you are in the White Mountain area, winter or summer. read more

We tried dinner here on Oct 7, 2017 on a weekend trip to North Conway. We should have taken the advice of one reviewer who said "don't waste your money." We love seafood and thought we'd give it a try. The waitress was very charming and friendly. But, we were very disappointed with the "lobster pie", lazy man's lobster. The description said it was supposed to be 1.25 pounds of lobster, but it was a very small portion of lobster. The place was also very noisy, a large table nearby. read more

It was okay...the prices seemed decent but the amount of food served matched the price. The funniest part of the entire meal is after we were seated a served delivered a basket of bread to our table it had 6 rolls in the basket...the server commented as she sat it down that is too much bread and removed two of the rolls with her hand and turned and sat them on the empty table next to us on the tablecloth. Staying at Eastern Slope Campground asked in the office where s good place to go to dinner was. They recommended this place. A beautiful ride through the countryside with scenic views all the way --but be aware google maps hadn't kept up with the road change and the phone number takes you right to voice mail. But push on down the road just about two blocks farther than SIRI tells you to go and you won't be disappointed. Hubbie and I shared the seafood platter shrimp scallops lobster clams mussels and haddock served over linguine. The perfect marinara sauce! Granddaughter who doesn't like lobster had lasagna. Came here on 8/30/12 for dinner. Only stopped here because our hotel was just up the street and rode right by it earlier in the day and there were a few cars in the parking lot. Its an out of the way, off the main road, type of place. I had fried clam plate w/twice cooked potato. Clams were very good and so was the potato. My boyfriend had seafood over linguine. Being a "fussy" eater, he was pleasantly surprised. It was just enough, not big on the portion, but tasted very good. My clam plate portion was fine. I WILL NEVER EVER EAT HERE AGAIN! We took my mother-in-law here for her birthday, It was all of our first time there, There were 6 of us.. We had 2 of our grandkids with us, and 4 adults I ordered a lobster salad at 21.95 (this is while myself and my grand-daughter, who were both wearing shorts, were getting bit by flea's or something.) OK well it's summer who knows. The first meal did arrive in a timely manner, BUT they were all served one at a time. My mother-in-law received her meal last! She said everyone will be done eating by the time mine arrives and have to wait for me.. She ordered the lobster pie. It was lobster in butter, broiled, no breading or anything else. OK!?!?! Her friend ordered shrimp scampi which he said was fine, and my husband ordered a fish sandwich with frozen fish. Our grandson order chicken fingers, which he complained tasted funny, and I did smell them and thought maybe they fried them with the fish, because it smelled like it..(more on that later) Our granddaughter ordered a grilled cheese which was fine. Both meals came with fries that looked fine and no complaints. My lobster salad arrived with these HUGE, and I mean HUGE pieces of lettuce, 2 green pepper rings and 2 red onion rings, a few cherry tomatoes and maybe 2 oz of lobster on top. I could not cut the salad with the butter knife and had to ask for a steak knife, I also asked the waitress is this all you get for lobster? A few minutes later she came back with a 1/4 of a claw and piece of knuckle from a lobster roll with the mayo and celery still on it. I had blue cheese dressing and butter I asked for on the side for the lobster that was plain as it should have been. I am thinking after what I tell you next is that the lobster with the mayo and celery came from a lobster roll another customer didn't finish. I would have eaten the other lobster and left the mayo lobster and shut my mouth and probably not go back, but after taking 10 minutes to cut up the lettuce and few vegetables, when I started eating the salad I was crunching what felt like sand, I went to a man that looked like a manager. He was wearing a filthy shirt and pants, but was ordering everyone around including his wife who was filling in I guess with only 2 waitresses around. ( I doubt he keeps help) So I went up to him and told him I was crunching sand. He came over and STARTED EATING THE SALAD OFF MY PLATE!!! WE ALL WERE STUNNED!!!! Still are to be honest!!! He then took his finger and wiped a section with his finger and licked it, YUCK, and said he didn't taste sand. My husband after he gained his composer over being stunned, started talking to the man that this was unacceptable that the salad was not eaten and if I said there was sand that I am NOT a liar!!!. Come to find out this man was the owner!! He then throw 10 dollars on the table at my husband.. My husband told him he didn't want his money, but wanted this remedied. He refused and kept trying to throw him 10 dollars while SCREAMING at my husband, especially after my husband told him we were not some tourist from another state and that we come to North Conway a lot and own 2 time shares there. We paid the bill all of it while the man/owner was screaming and following us. Some people left! On the way home our grandson started feeling sick and later that night puked his brains out. We are sure it was the chicken fingers. If this owner can eat food off a total strangers plate and take his finger and lick the plate, I can only surmise that he saves uneaten food off other customers plates to save money and feed to other customers. Went for lunch here yesterday with my wife. It was our first time trying this restaurant. We had to hunt down the hostess, but she was friendly and was also our waitstaff person as well. I ordered the fried seafood combo (haddock, clams, scallops and shrimp) and my wife ordered baked stuffed haddock with crab stuffing. We received 2 rolls - I didn't use the small plate at my table to butter my roll as it was dirty. I ordered an iced-coffee and my wife ordered an ice tea. Our meals came out soon after, but I was told that they had no clams so they had given me extra of the other 3 parts of the seafood platter. I got about 6 scallops, 6 shrimp and a decent sized piece of haddock. The haddock was tasteless. I actually had my wife try a piece to verify its blandness. I have never had a piece of haddock (even frozen) that had no taste. I honestly don't even think it was haddock - I think it may have been cod. The shrimp and scallops were very good. And I had onion rings with my meal which were delicious, but very greasy. My wife enjoyed her stuffed haddock and told me and the waitperson that is was the best crab stuffing she had ever had. I never was offered a refill on my iced coffee, and my wife was so thirsty that she had to speak up at the end of the meal to get her ice tea refilled. We told our waitperson that it was our first time there and that I had really been looking forward to trying the whole belly clams... and to our surprise, when she brought us the bill, she also gave us a cup of clam chowder to take home with us to make up for the inconvenience of not having the clams in stock. So... overall a good experience, fair prices, and good sized servings. We'll be back, and after I do actually get to try the whole belly clams, I'll update my review. read more

My wife son and I stopped in for dinner on Monday night. A fun, colorful place to have dinner and enjoy the show. The show being the bartender. Right from the start when we asked him how he was and he stated better than he looked we knew it would be entertaining. If you are looking for great service that does not miss a beat then I would recommend that you go else where. But if you like local color, and great seafood this is the place. We had fried and baked scallops, fried clams, salads, clam chowder and the fried green beans as well as a glass of wine. The food was great. The portions were huge. Food delivered to the wrong table, waited for extra salad dressing, peppered my wife's salad by reaching right in front of me. You get the idea, kind of like being at your goofy uncles house for dinner. As I said the show was great, the other customers interacted with each other, as my son described it...It was like going to Cheers - everyone knew everyone. And we felt very welcomed. After passing by here on several trips home, curiosity got the best of us. My girlfriend was craving a lobster roll and I figured this was probably the best place to go. After ordering a couple of drinks (one of which was incorrectly made), we decided on the Lobster sauté and also got a 12 oz sirloin. We split both meals, which worked out well. The steak was cooked medium and strangely we were never asked how we wanted it cooked. It was a solid steak which probably would have been delicious had it been cooked to medium rare. Onto the Lobster Sauté. It was a very generous portion of lobster (which for $48 should have been). Served over a puddle (for lack of a better word) of drawn butter which was nice, but we both felt that if garlic and white wine was added it could have been spot on. Overall, it was a good meal. The bill for $112 we felt was a bit excessive for 2 cocktails each and the entrées. We were there on a Saturday night and sat at the bar. The bartender had early 80's music on which everyone at the bar was enjoying. That is until an older woman (hostess or manager perhaps), came through the bar area and promptly turned down to a whisper. It was enough of a mood killer that two couples opted to get their checks and head elsewhere. The atmosphere changed from a cheery setting to one that resembled a library at its quietest. Glad we gave it a try, but certainly won't be rushing back any time soon! read more

Took my mom out for a nice seafood dinner on Mother's Day, and left wanting whatever I put into my body to leave. The service was very nice and friendly and the menu was sprawling with many different options, so there won't be a chance of non-seafood lovers leaving totally unhappy. Though, what it bolsters in menu and service it lacks in food quality. The clam chowder was delectable, to start. I personally ordered a bacon cheeseburger and found that, much like normal inexperienced restaurant owners, they had finished that first and let the savory juices from the patty melt into the bottom bun; making an overall unemployable burger, despite its tastiness. The fries were delectable also, but that wasn't enough to sway my opinion of this place. Why? Because the fish my mother and sister ordered was not only thin and majority batter, but it was gray and had a sour taste. Not only such, but a deceased lobster was visible from its tank from within the restaurant; something that they serve to customers. Only giving them some credit because they were very nice and sympathetic in the process, so I didn't leave with a total bad taste in my mouth.
