We also ordered a Deacon St. Burger that was cooked perfectly and the fries were great and fresh Cole slaw with an interesting flavored dressing that was exceptionally good. My son and I came here on school vacation so it was slower (to our liking) the bar was busy though. We had an amazing waitress who gave us some ideas for things to do in the area. Whiskey is a thing I LOVE and their Stormy Angel did NOT disappoint. We had their Nachos, Zucchini sticks, Mac N Cheese, and a burger. Tried this restaurant on the recommendation of our Innkeeper. It exceeded our expectations! Cute place with interesting things to look at all over, like a motorcycle, an old gas pump, a ski lift, and many old photos of celebrities. Service was excellent, Joanne was our server and was very friendly and prompt. Drinks were really good! I had a sangria and my husband had a Stormy Angel. Ordered the calamari and it was beautiful on the plate and very tasty with an Asian dipping sauce. I ordered the steak tips. I like them rare and they cooked them perfectly. My husband ordered the maple pork chops and they were also good. We didn't order dessert because we were full, but will definitely be back the next time we are in town! read more

We intended to go to Muddy Moose for dinner, but it was super full, so we found Deacon Street instead. No wait at all and a very pleasant dining experience. I had the baked haddock and my partner had the mac and cheese with buffalo chicken; both were splendid. My son had the chicken fingers and fries (just about the only thing he eats) and he said it was very, very good. My daughter had the kids pasta with butter sauce. The pasta, butter, and parm were brought out in separate bowls to be customized at the table which was a very cute and smart idea. While on vacation we were looking for somewhere nearby for a good dinner and Deacon Street did not disappoint!! We were a bit nervous because the place was dead, not a single other table of patrons where we were seated. Now it was the night before thanksgiving and early evening but it still made us pause and I am so glad we decided to stay. We started with appetizers and while the spinach dip was a bit greasy and loose the calamari was absolutely perfect. Next up came dinner: bone in ribeye with fries and mushrooms for me, fish and chips for my husband, and a cheeseburger with fries for my mother. My mother loved her burger. I was blown away by my steak and mushrooms but I do wish the fries were crispier. My husband wasn't crazy about the breading on his fish but was quite impressed by the size of the fish itself. The part of the experience we enjoyed the most however was the decor and staff. They have some truly amazing photos and different unique decor items throughout the restaurant. We went on August 19 and really wanted to like the place but after sitting for 35 minutes waiting for the drinks we ordered it was clear this place was going to be an epic fail. The family sitting next to us got up and left, and they had been waiting over an hour for their food. The gentleman asked the waitress if the food was ready, and if it wasn't, could they cancel and she promptly answered it was not. We decided to ask about our drinks and if they had not been made, could we cancel she promptly said nope they have not been made and walked off. So we had a 7:00 pm reservation tonight 8/19. We arrived 5 minutes early and were seated at a high top table in the bar area. And things went downhill from there. We sat for over 15 minutes without any service. Finally being approached by a bartender / server who apparently hadn't showered that day and was very unpleasant. We ordered drinks which it turned out were extremely strong. We were left with our drinks for another 30 minutes without any contact at which point we asked for the check and left. We live around the corner and decided to try this local restaurant called Deacon Street. There was no wait and we got seated immediately. We looked at the menu which was very small and saw no soda options on it besides alcoholic beverages that mostly didn't have prices on them. They gave us a pitcher of room temperature water with no ice to go with it. We ordered 2 cokes which were flat and watered down. Those issues are small so we wanted to give them a chance and ordered the onion rings. Man were they disappointing. The batter was super dark, unseasoned, and greasy. The onions on the inside were greasy and super stringy and as tough as beef jerky. They get served with an wierd sauce called "Boom Boom" sauce which tasted super Wierd mixed with onion rings and tasted more like it should belong on a hibachi dish instead. The main course came out and the brussel sprouts looked like burnt dog puke on a plate (see photo). They tasted like unseasoned overcooked kale with balsamic dressing dumped all over it. Then I moved onto the mashed potatoes which tasted cold and bland. Finally the last part of the 25$ dish the small steak tips that look non existent next to the burnt "sprouts". We cut into them and they were medium rare like we asked so we tried them. We got this odd slimy taste in our mouths with every bite. I cut a piece open and smelt it and the meat was rancid. We informed the waitress immediately and the food was returned. She came back and claimed that the kitchen said it was the marinade that the steak was cooked in. I have had steak tips from all over the place and non of them have been slimy. She did offer that we could choose something else off the menu but we really wanted steak and did not want to risk getting sick from ordering another cut of meat so we declined. I was nice and offered to pay for the sodas and onion rings which visibly upset the waitress. We somehow felt like it was our fault that we were served rancid steak and bad food. I paid 16 bucks and left and will not be returning to this place again. You will get better steak at Applebees than this place. I love to support local restaurants being local but this is a sad restaurant. Before we left the waitress said "Try us again" and we will not. Happy hour was bit confusing as it applies to certain base spirits, unless said spirit was in a menu specialty drink, at which point your $12 cocktail was single only. It's a pet peeve when restaurants have unwritten rules about how things like happy hour get applied, and even more so when it's inconsistent from employee to employee. Still, a chill spot with a tight fry on their bird. I was so grateful to be welcomed the way I was tonight. So many staffing shortages which has hit restaurants so hard. Staff work SO hard and many extra hours. A number of places close midweek which makes the demand higher on those who can try to stay open. Went to this great restaurant based on Yelp search for a whiskey bar. It was within walking distance of our inn and it was a beautiful evening. We were not disappointed! It was a Sunday night and there were a few customers but it wasn't crowded. We were seated immediately and the service was always prompt. Our server Joe was very attentive, gave a good overview of the menu and made recommendations. We decided on the fried chicken for my husband and the pork chops for me.
