We had a lovely dining experience at Ledges Restaurant. The ambiance was beautiful and relaxing, making it a great place to enjoy a meal. The food was delicious, and our server was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service. The only areas for improvement would be offering a wider variety of menu options, as the selection felt a bit limited. We also found the prices to be on the higher side for what was served. We had friend visiting and then realized a lot would be closed on Sunday. Thankfully, we were able to secure a reservation for the Easter Sunday buffet via Open Table - needed to provide credit card to secure reservation. if you cancel without notice, you will be charged. VERY BUSY - There was really nowhere to comfortably wait without feeling like you were in they way. We ended up standing outside with the Easter Bunny. LOL The Interior dining near the bar does not have a view. Most larger parties (6+) were on the interior side of the restaurant. Nice ambience with the piano player. They had a nice buffet - breakfast / lunch sweet and savory options. Favorites- Prime Rib Waffles Bacon Sausage Salmon Kitchen provided pancakes and eggs benedict if asked While we waited for our table we got a couple of drinks at the bar and the staff was both nice and funny. They had a funny banter with each other. Host/manager - very stressed but kept her focus and was sincerely thankful for people being patient. I was impressed with her stamina, she was just back from a medical leave for a spinal fusion. She and I chatted while coming back from the restroom. She was doing great and was very organized. We came here last night - a Friday - for dinner. I had sent my Boyfriend a few suggestions of places to eat in North Conway, and this is the one he picked - it was a great choice! It was a bit further away than we anticipated - we were staying by Settlers Green outlets and it was a 15-min drive. But the grounds looked spectacular, even in March (Smarch!) and the White Mountain Resort looks so beautiful. I would definitely look into staying there on a future trip! We loved the restaurant too! Beautiful decor. It is attached to the pub next door (Tuckaway Tavern I think?) - the whole area is open and sort of separated by the piano. I loved that there was a live piano player! Love live music with dinner. The views of the mountains were amazing. Unfortunately there was a glare from the widow glass so we couldn't really see anything when it got dark (cue Boyfriend going on for 10 min about how this could be improved by redesigning the windows on a slanted angle blah blah ). We loved the food too! They offer wine flights which was really interesting. Boyfriend had a Caesar salad and I had the French onion soup to start - best French onion I've had in a while, with quite the cheese pull. Very flavorful. He had the 14 oz steak with fries as main course and I had the lobster mac and cheese. Boyfriend *loved* his choice and was super impressed with the steak, very well cooked with a charcoal-y flavor. My dish had lots of big lobster pieces and was tasty, but a little too "saucy" for my taste. I would try something else next time. We ended the evening with a brownie with ice cream for Boyfriends birthday - our wonderful server Miranda even put a candle on it - she was great all through dinner and very professional. Overall we loved this place! I was a bit apprehensive given the reviews and because I've never been impressed with North Conway dining in general, but the only two negative about this place were the bread served early on (multigrain - we couldn't eat it) and my Mac and cheese being a bit too liquidy. I called to make a reservation and was informed that the restaurant required a credit card to secure the reservation, along with a $30 cancellation fee. In my opinion, that's pretty ridiculous for a restaurant in North Conway. I have absolutely no interest in ever considering this restaurant again. They clearly think a little too highly of themselves. I could understand this type of policy at a high-end restaurant in Boston, but for a North Conway country restaurant, it seems completely unnecessary and pretentious. read more

We've been here many times... as hotel guests, wedding guests and now locals looking for a nice night out. The view is amazing, it's very comfortable, they have a great menu and do a great job at holidays..which we try to get reservations if we're on our own. We went for husband's birthday and ate in the lounge..great drinks and I had an amazing sandwich..a caprese with pesto..it was so tasty I've been making them at home since. It gets worse! We attended a lunch hosted by a local organization, hoping that the problems had been fixed. We could not believe the poor quality of the food served. The lunch was just before Christmas. The salad was tired lettuce covered with thick bottled vinegary french dressing. The next insult was the main course - steak tips. This was a tough, overcooked tastelesstasteless pot roast that was just not edible. I noticed that other diners did not eat it either. The dessert was the big surprise. The invitation promised a "Chef's creation" and we were served what looked and tasted like Mrs.Smith's Pumpkin pie obviously left over from Thanksgiving. I do not know what is wrong here, but the food is truly awful!! read more

We rated this a 5 star because most everything was great and wanted to bring up their rating! Staff was amazing, accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable about the food. The food was excellent. Fish was well prepared (both the salmon and the special sword fish with the most amazing strawberry salsa), steak came out as ordered, and appetizers very good. The menu was inventive and very fresh, and several options for all palettes. We did not order the vegetarian selections but I was tempted! The only complaint is the bar took quite a ling time with our drinks, but they were very good when we did get them. My family are annual visitors to the White Mountain Hotel. Throughout the years, Ledges has been a convenient and satisfying place to have dinner after a long day of activities or a long day of driving that does not warrant another 10-mile drive to another restaurant that may or may not be good. However, this year we were more apt to take that 10-mile drive. Perhaps it is due to the lack of budget from recent renovation, perhaps it is due to the new chef - but there are several cuts to service and food that are alarming. While, of course, inflation is a factor and no restaurant's portions are the same as they were even 2 years ago, the inconsistency in this area is just simply inexcusable. I will exemplify this with a salad issue. While this may seem picky, it is a good example of the confusion this restaurant has been springing upon customers. One day I ordered a Ledges salad with chicken. It could barely be split among two people (and, to be fair, the waitress warned us about this). The next day, the same salad, ordered without chicken, was plenty for two. If I am paying for the salad, and an (absurdly expensive) surcharge for chicken upon it, why would you remove the salad part I am already paying for as a base? This is not to mention the discrepancies in service, which is most obvious at breakfast time. Weirdly, the later you make a reservation, the worse the service gets. When taking account of the time, the wait for food ranged from 10 to 45 minutes. And, especially with the later services, critical parts of the dish would be missing, like bacon. While I did have a few good meals here (see photos), I ended up finding many better restaurants on this trip that made me reconsider whether or not Ledges will be my 'default' choice while staying at White Mountain Hotel in the future. I am only writing this review because I love this place, and I want the management to understand and correct these new issues before it gets out of hand. read more

We went here on Halloween night a.k.a. our wedding night! It was very nice on the outside, as well as the inside. We were greeted by a friendly host who took us to our table. I wish I could remember our servers name, but she was awesome all-around she was super friendly, spunky and attentive. For starters, we ordered the garlic cheese curds, they were amazing. They were pretty much bite-size, mozzarella sticks. I would definitely get these again. The salmon I ordered was cooked perfectly. There was even a crunch to it. The mashed potatoes were a great pair with it.The asparagus was super thin. My only suggestion would be to serve hearty asparagus, the dish is expensive I want to feel like I got my moneys worth ! The pianist excellent- The waitstaff did a good job with a huge crowd, huge because: Negatives: reservations oversold; the place was jammed with large parties of 8-12 people- Hot, noisy, like a bar near Fenway after a Sox game. Not fun- too much booze- too many millennials displaying their knowledge of exotic martinis. On our anniversary this elderly couple was largely disappointed. Aside: a pet peeve of mine- the foliage 'rating' of "peak" serves only the tourist service industry- this year's foliage is/was as poor as we've seen it in Maine or NH -- two out of ten: muddy, washed out colors, dried, curled tan leaves hanging limply on nearly bare branches. We should be honest about the foliage colors or lack of them, to our neighbors from the south. read more

We stayed at the white mountain inn for a few nights as part of a group. Dinner the first night was in the ledges. I wish we had dinner there both nights... We both had the prime rib . Cooked perfectly. Tender and barely any fat. The au jus was perfect. Whipped potatoes and perfectly cooked asparagus. The salads were beautiful. Bread was fresh and delicious- obviously house made. And getting to house made- their pastry chef deserves a gold star. We don't often indulge in deserts at restaurants as they usually disappoint or is something revitalized out of a frozen box. Not here. I had the lemon desert (frozen lemon mousse)- mom had the strawberry shortcake. Life changing. After a fabulous meal this truly was the cherry of the proverbial cake. read more

We had excellent dinner twice and breakfast twice during our stay at the white mountains hotel. We got different types of fish and eggs respectively. On Saturday evening, we enjoyed live piano music. I took my parents here for their 43rd anniversary. I picked this restaurant because of the views of the mountain and the menu looked like it had some amazing options. The hostess was really nice and got us seated rather quickly. There was someone playing the piano which really added such a nice touch, unfortunately that's where it stopped being enjoyable. We waited forever for someone to get our drinks. Joe our waiter had confessed that he forgot we were here. Then throughout the rest of the evening he continued to forget us. I had to ask other servers for help. My mom can't eat a lot because of medical reasons so instead of wasting a large dish her and I split it. This didn't sit well with Joe you could see his distain on his face. We finished our meal and waited for over 15 minutes for Joe to come back so we could get a to go box and the check. So we finally asked the hostess if she could get Joe for us and she did and he came to the table visibly pissed that we had the hostess summon him. He was so incredibly rude. When we asked him for the check he made the remark that it's not like we had gotten that much food anyways. The restaurant, the food, the live music was outstanding, Joe was an asshole and it ruined the experience and our meal. I wanted it to be nice for my parents but it wasn't. Got reservations for my family for new years fixed menu. To say it was a total fail and piss poor executed food would be an understatement. I ordered the lobster bisque for my app. Not one ounce of lobster in it and tasted more like tomato soup rather than lobster bisque. For my main I ordered. 28oz tomahawk rib eye. Which they mandated you have to share with another person. I asked if I could have it to myself and they refused. But yet still charged us full price for 2 people. I split with my gf, or tried to because we never ate one. When it comes out the first time the peppercorn sauce has a film on it from sitting the steak was seared outside perfectly. But cold in the middle. I sent it back and asked them for a new one and not microwave it. Chef refused and microwaved it and ruined it. I refused it and they finally made me another one. Cold again. If you are going to come Out in your fancy chef uniform and bring me the 2nd tomahawk cold. At least know what you're talking about. A medium rare steak is not cool in the center. It's warm. Aside from cool the steak was cold to the touch. Worst part is they only comp one meal when they mediated we share this steak. Piss poor. If your chef cannot cook a steak. Pro-tip: ORDER THE LAMB...even if you are not a fan of lamb you have tried elsewhere. ITS DEVINE! Great lamb is like a fine aged steak. This is by far the best in my lifetime. The wife and I went to the ledges last night. I like this place. We've eaten there several times and will again. Having said that, last night was not up to snuff. My 42 dollar fillet mignon was tiny. It was cooked ok and tasted great but so small. Every thing was served cold including the coffee. I'm a stickler for good coffee. It was cold and weak. Just awful! We Love it here. We stay at the hotel here which includes a complimentary breakfast which is a hot, sit-down white table cloth breakfast. We ain't talking cold cereal and hard boiled eggs here. None of that continental crap! You get a menu and can choose from the omelette of the day to a breakfast sandwich to waffles or pancakes or French toast. Always served with fresh coffee, juice and freshly baked little muffins. On Sundays it's the brunch buffet and it's off the hook! Friendly, beautiful view no matter the season or weather. read more

We love it here and my only reservation about writing this is the knowledge that 4 stars and a glowing review means we might not be able to get a table at our next visit. We have never stayed in the hotel, but have eaten at Ledges a number of times and it never fails to disappoint. Bar area has quiet corners where you can have a drink and food in peace, but the bar is low key lively. Easy to talk to the bartender or the chap next to you...or not. Plenty of TVs if you need that. The main dining room is amazing. Great views of Cranmore in the distance which is lit at night. A perfect piano player perfectly playing perfect songs. Not a loud room. The kind of place you can easily over or under dress but all is welcome, just don't be offended if a local shows up in dirty jeans held to his shoulders by camo suspenders and sits next to someone in a suit jacket and tie or an evening dress. NH fabulous and that might be one of the best parts. Last but not least is the food and service: Easily one of the if not THE best places in the valley. They will have something you'll love and it will be cooked to perfection. read more

This is a review for the seafood Friday deal ($39) and the Easter buffet ($34). Both days we were blown away by the view and the food. The bread - amazing. I ordered the lobster corn soup that was very good. We ordered the mussels and I was less impressed (they seemed frozen and cooked again) but the sauce was very good. I ordered the scallops which were amazing. My boyfriend got the haddock and lobster but there was not much lobster (see picture) but he loved it. For dessert they had the cheesecake that was DELICIOUS - the best cheesecake I really have ever had. We came yesterday for Easter Sunday brunch and enjoyed ourselves. At the carving station - lamb, ham, and sirloin. They had asparagus ravioli, seafood casserole, green beans, rice and mashed potatoes, pot roast, pork, lots of stuff. Honestly I think coming from the last buffet I ate at I was expecting slightly better. But what really blew me away was the dessert - cakes of all kind - chocolate, crumb, carrot, etc. Macaroons that were so good, and these Little cups that were chocolate, lemon, or tiramisu !! This place has seriously declined over the years. Filet and lamb were both cooked unevenly, some parts rare and other parts well done. Lack of flavor with all dishes. Was rushed the minute we sat down to order everything. Waiter asked us if we were ready to order dessert when we weren't even halfway done our tasteless entrees. We were staying at another hotel in North Conway and this restaurant was recommended to us. We went on our first night in town and while the good was good the hotel was great! We ended up switching our reservations for the remainder of our stay to the white mountain hotel & resort and ate at the Ledges several times. Dinner in the restaurant review: steak tips & vegetables- great. The steak was tender, the vegetables were well cooked, not too crispy and not soggy, just right Filet Mignon: good, not great. While it was cooked to our liking (medium-rare) on the inside, the outside was a bit charred and tough. The shrimp we had with it (added it to our salad but had it severed with dinner) was dry The rest of the meal: The salads were good, the drinks from the bar were good, the "fresh" bread was dry beyond repair. No butter or salad dressing could bring it back. It was a Monday night and the place was slammed (NH Feb vacation). There appeared to be only 2 waitresses and they were hustling all night. We then had breakfast there two mornings and the egg dishes were better than the pancakes. They lacked flavor, and were a bit mushy. One more the omelets of the day was ham, spinach, onions & cheese; it was outstanding. We wish they would have had that multiple days. While this is a review of the restaurant, we do want to call out the bar & its staff in "Tullamore" they are great! They too were hustling, and the night we ate in there, the bar tender was able to manage bar drinks, a few tables and drinks for the dining room and while he was running around he did take a few minutes to chat with guests and engage, he didn't seem overwhelmed by it all; well done Tyler! read more

Chose to come here for dinner per internet and friends referred. Ordered a sirlion and shrimp special to only get prime rib that was completely unedibile. Could not even cut through the meat. Told waitress to had manager come over who basically called me a liar and that I did not know what sirlion was. Lol. Manager went into kitchen and proceeded to have chef come out of kitchen with receipts for the type of beef he bought again telling me it's sirlion. They made me pay full price for meal I did not eat and then they said the owner was going to call me to rectify. Never heard from anyone and still got charged for food I did not eat. To start off they had blueberry muffins that were delicious. My family seemed very happy with what they got. I ordered blueberry pancakes. The waitress suggested using maple butter on my pancakes. We have been going to NH pretty much our whole life's and I never knew this place existed! I found it during a google search of "where foodies should go in North Conway". Anyway. It was so good! The views were spectacular, and we were there on a Friday so it was seafood night. We had a four course seafood dinner that was amazing. Our server was pleasant and efficient as well. My wife and I had a weekend away and were staying at the hotel attached to this restaurant to celebrate our tenth anniversary. We made reservations to have dinner at 7:45. We arrived on-time but were not seated until 8:20. The restaurant and our waiter were clearly overwhelmed. Our waiter didn't take our drink order for another 10 minutes. He then claimed the bar lost the drink order and so we didn't receive our first round of drinks until after appetizers at around 8:45. My wife and I both have food allergies, me a gluten allergy and her a dairy allergy. The one bright side to this dinner is that they neither of us got sick after eating the food. They catered to a gluten allergy reasonably well, several items in the menu were marked if gluten free. My wife ordered the fish dairy free and the waiter responded no problem. One annoyance I have is if you say you can make a dish allergy friendly then make the dish. What she received was an unseasoned piece if fish with all sides replaced with plain white rice and plain broccoli. read more

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and my husband made a reservation directly with the restaurant three weeks in advance. We found the restaurant by searching fine dining here on Yelp. This is NOT fine dining. Firstly, we were seated at a table large enough for two children- not two adults. We were seated away from the windows and over heard the hostess tell another table that the windows with the views were reserved for those with birthdays or anniversaries. I called her over and mentioned that it was OUR anniversary. She snapped at me, asking if we put in a request for a window seat. Well, no where on the website does it state that you need to pre request if you want a window seat. So we had to stay at our child sized table. Secondly, people were coming in with jeans, sweatpants, tee shirts, sneakers. Is this fine dining???? Our server was good, and the food was good, a little overly salted, but good. But we were very disappointed to have such a lackluster experience to celebrate our anniversary. If management reads this, it won't help us, but help others and please put on your website that windows must be pre-requested and that extreme casual dress is ok. Crazy rules and a really nasty hostess made us walk away. We had a 5:45pm reservation on a weeknight. On their OpenTable page, they have a disclaimer warning that they only allow a 15 minute grace period and if you are late, you may lose your reservation. So, to be careful we arrived at about 5:20pm. The restaurant opens at 5:30 so we waited and when they opened there were 2-3 other couples waiting and the hostess seated them. We approached the hostess after she sat the other parties and she "chased us out" saying that she needs to seat her "5:30 reservations" first. Well, we waited another ten minutes and not one other person showed up to be seated. When we went back to the hostess and told her to just cancel our reservation she all of a sudden said she had a beautiful window table for us. Well, we left anyway. I would totally understand if there was a line of people with earlier reservations. Not one other person showed up! It was not like I was there two hours earlier. It was 5 minutes earlier than our reservation and she would not seat us. I chose to eat elsewhere and give my money to someone else! read more

Went twice, because I was staying at White Mountain Resort for the weekend. I made reservations for both nights - waited 20 min for the first one, thirty for the second. So just know the reservation doesn't mean a thing. No attempt to make things right with, say, a cocktail or snack. When seated the first night, it took another 20 min to get water, and 10 more min after that to have our order taken. Understaffed is an understatement. Food was fine - nothing great, but not bad. Bussers seem to lack confidence in what to do - took away a full bread basket and my bread plate with half a piece on it when I got my salad. The second night, it took an hour to get our food, which I couldn't understand because the restaurant was half empty. The salmon said it came the vegetable of the day, but when it arrived, the veg wasn't there. When asked, my server said the menu was wrong. Don't recommend, unless they improve their customer service and up their staff numbers. read more
