I had dealings with Local Boys before I read their Yelp reviews. The first time I used them, they were reasonably priced, fast, and professional. The second time i was looking for a tree company, I almost passed them up based on reviews. My wife said, that they were the crew I used before and we had good results so what happened? I did a bit of research on their yelp reviews and found this out: there are some miserable people out there. If you are one of those folks that can only write bad reviews and have nothing constructive to say than quit posting. I swear, Yelp should cull the herd on folks that only review negatively. One person has had such horrible luck with damages caused by a variety of contractors that she should be homeless by now, based on that destructiveness of all the people she hired. Get a life, be constructive and quit trying to get something for nothing. I will say this about the Local Boys, they are the best in this area, period. I found far better reviews of their company on another website. So we called Jason and he remembered us. He came over, gave us a fair quote, told us what we could reasonably expect to happen to our property (we had 4 HUGE trees right next to the house) and that he could do it tomorrow if we want. He didn't use some " this price is only good for the next 24 hours" pressure tactic to try to get our business. He is an honest, local, polite, man that looks out for his customers and his crew. His crew is also professional, skilled labor, not day laborers picked up from the front of some convenient store. The team showed up early, brought a ton of gear and started working right away. Now I should mention that if you have never had 100+ foot poplars removed from your property there is quite a bit of residual "damage" that occurs. By damage, I mean some divots when branch's and tree chunks hit the ground, the inevitable snow fall of sawdust from the chainsaw, the tracks left from tractors that are carrying 500 lb pieces of wood across your wet, freshly rained on yard, and the huge pile of sawdust from a PROPERLY ground stump. Jason and the crew did their best to limit the above problems. They laid plywood down on the ground for the tractor to drive on and to reduce the track damage to my yard. They raked the tracks that were not covered ny plywood and reseeded the lawn when they were done. When the tree removal was done, they steel raked all the divots and tractor marks and used a leaf blower to get the majority of sawdust off of everything in my yard. They did everything they possibly could to mitigate damage and repair damage after it occurred. Would I recommend them? Hell yes. In fact, three of my neighbors came to see what the hell I was doing and immediately got quotes for work they wanted to do. Two neighbors will be getting work done tomorrow. The third will probably not be far behind because you won't find a better price for the quality of work done. So for all you negative nellies out there, get a life. I believe in this company so much I let them leave their tractors in my driveway and gear at my house so they can help my neighbors. I don't do that for everybody. Next year, I will have more work done and I know who I'm going to call. Those Local Boys are welcome at my house anytime. I seriously cannot recommend this company more! I consistently seek out locally owned small businesses to patronize and frankly, sometimes I compromise on quality or pay a bit more on that principle. Not the case here. From the estimate to job completion EVERYTHING superseded my expectations. My trees have more or less been a neglected mess for a few years - and I have a ton of them. When I contacted Jason I just asked about trimming everything back from the house, getting rid of dead limbs, checking the health of them, removing a few little leaning trees etc. He got back to me immediately and came out the following day for the estimate. Since it was such a mess, he quoted me for a package deal - basically different set-rate tiers, 5 guys, around 6 hours. Initial price was more than fair, negotiated a smidgen and he dropped it even lower. A prior quote from another company was a little over 2K more. Not only did they trim as requested, they ground out the stumps for the trees they took down - and some that were there already, raked up even little twigs and leaves and blew off my deck/driveway (and negotiated all the dog poop landmines in my yard as I really didn't expect them to go that far or I would've cleaned up in advance). Professional and polite crew, locally owned, not only did an impeccable job but went above and beyond. And they were all super sweet to my hyper attention-seeking dog and were careful to not disturb a nest with baby birds - they took down one that was vacated but worked around the other one. We reached out to Local Boys a few weeks ago to remove a few trees from our property - three of which were pretty routine but one was a huge oak tree about 5 feet from the corner of our house. This was not going to be an easy job. Jason promised he would get that tree down no matter what it took. He looked at getting cranes up onto our mountainside property but no crane company would do it. Being the person he is, Jason refused to let us down. He and his team started tackling that tree at 8am and took down that 80 foot tree by dinner. Jason has a great group of guys working with him, too. They explained what they were doing and how things would go. They were all so personable and professional. They worked well together and, even though the work was back-breaking, they always seemed happy, joking around with each other during brief breaks. They also took amazing care of our house and property, cleaning up everything before they left. I whole-heartedly recommend Local Boys. Jason genuinely cares about his customers and how they feel about the job he and his team have done. It's rare that you get to work with someone with this level of integrity. Send in the Clowns! Local Boys Tree Service is hands-down the most poorly run and dishonest "company" (if there's a commercial license there, it's in hiding) I have had the displeasure to deal with. Over the course of two months this summer, uncles, sons, and fathers all representing the tree service came to bid and plan a tree removal job for me. On a weekly basis, they proceeded to modify the bid, fail to show up for the work on 3 separate occasions, rescheduled the work 3 other times, and finally flat out lied that they would return only to follow up with a 'we've changed our minds'! Truly - if you're looking to waste your time then this is the group for you. If you want to work with people who are trustworthy, professional, and stand behind their written quote, then do yourself a favor and find a reputable company to do business with instead. read more

This review isn't based on their tree removal skills, but more about their behavior. These guys were in their Local Boys company truck parked next to my car. They picked up some food and brought it to their truck, after a few minutes the driver rolled down his window and threw tomato slices at my car before departing. I was not in the car, it was all captured on my dashcam and the action was deliberate. It was completely unprovoked and juvenile behavior and I'm not sure why they did it. Maybe they do decent tree removal work, but individuals who act like that will not be getting my business. read more

Stay away ! Update. They caused severe damage To my home, I then go to find out the documents they provided for insurance and registration aren't valid! THEY ARE FRAUDS. They dumped trees and brush on the property next to mine instead of removing it. Also, they just let trees fall through and onto others damaging them horribly and leaving broken trees and broken branches all over and making it unsafe to even park the cars or let the dog out. Furthermore, they were reckless with a chainsaw and also damaged two trees that way. They made a mess, didn't follow their contract and did a horrible job . The owner doesn't even know a maple from an oak. He is a liar and a fraud read more

I cannot say enough great things about Jason and his team at Local Boys Tree Service. I found them on HomeAdvisor yesterday, Jason came for an estimate last night and the job was finished by 4pm today. I had 2 trees trimmed and 3 large Ash trees taken completely down with the stumps ground. The 2 trimmed trees look great but the job they did with the removals was truly impressive. 3 forty plus foot trees in a 7 square yard area between my house and garage and dangerously close to my neighbors house with a fence right below them. They worked with care and precision, not even coming close to any of the structures. Even after spending 8 hours removing and trimming trees, they did a great job on clean up too! Everyone that was here was courteous and professional. I will have them come out for more tree needs I have and will recommend them to anyone and everyone. Great job! read more

Seemed like a great company so I called for an estimate. The first appointment was moved due to Jason forgetting he had an appointment in another area and wouldn't be able to make mine. If I could give a zero I would. Jason was quick to call and said he'd go by and check my property out for the tree to be removed that was growing too close to my garage and call me back with a quote. He was five minutes away from my house and could do that day. You'd think he'd want to build up customers thru neighbors. They were able to not only get the job done before the time they quoted me on, but also cleaned up everything after they were done. My back yard look amazing now!
