I tacos! You can customize your taco experience in any way you like. I highly recommend picking your taco and then getting it weezy style. Chips and salsa are self serve and the chips are freshly made. The tacos all have funky names and anything can become vegetarian I like the sweet potato or mushroom as my protein. You must get Mexican street corn as a side! It's a little loud, and the dining area is small but it's still a fun place to grab dinner and a drink. I've been here a couple of times and have enjoyed my tacos. I'm not the best one to give a review because I'm a basic eater. There are a lot of "crazy" options and options with meat, but I wouldn't eat them. I get some basic, normal tacos, but the waitresses have always been helpful in letting me customize a taco so I can eat it. They have an awesome patio which makes for a great place for dinner. I visited Local Cantina on a Saturday night around 5:30pm and although it was a weekend evening there was plenty of open tables both inside and outside and we were seated right away. Unfortunately, that would be the highlight of the evening and dining experience. Once seated, it seemed as though we were invisible to the waiter who was serving the specific section. After waiting about 30 minutes, I went up to the girls at the front door and asked them to send a waiter to our table. At this point you would think it would be smooth sailing, but it wasn't. About 10 minutes after asking to be server our waiter finally stopped by our table. Although we had almost an hour at this point to look at the menu he only asked what we wanted to drink (two sodas and two waters) and then walked away before we could order our meals. After another 5 minutes we finally got our two sodas, and he took our order which included an appetizer and two entrées, after which he said he would be right back with our waters. After another 15 minutes, a different waiter brought out our appetizer before our main waiter could bother to bring us our waters. Although I understand how difficult it is to be a waiter or work in the food industry, I feel as though a little bit more effort could've been put forth by the waiter we had. There were many times where I saw him leaning against the bar, talking to co-workers, and watching the various tvs across the building. I felt as though we weren't welcomed and that we had to go out of our way to be served. Furthermore, I overheard conversations from the two tables next to mine talking about the lack of service. At one point a family had ordered four waters, and similarly to my experience, they waited nearly 15 minutes for them to arrive. At one point I heard the children talking about the server saying "do you think he forgot about us?" In the end I must say the food was very tasty but my opinion towards the restaurant was dramatically swayed due to the horrible service I experienced. I'm sure there are other waiters and staff that are truly incredible and amazing at their job, but with that being said I was not lucky enough to interact with one of them. read more

No Air conditioning on a 90 degree day! It is cooler outside. It has to be near 100 degree inside and they don't open the big garage doors to get a breeze. Local Cantina is a reliable choice. Their food and service always delivers. Tonight I had the Restaurant Week menu. I chose the queso which is some of the best, the farmers market taco which was full of veggies and refried beans, and the blackened fish taco which was spicy (beware!). For dessert I had the fried ice cream which didn't have much flavor but was still good - it would be even better w a drizzle of honey. Everything was fresh and the flavors popped. On this visit, at 3pm on a Friday with a mostly empty restaurant, my server was also serving the entire bar and was extremely inattentive. Never refilled our drinks and by the time she came back to ask if we wanted another drink, we had finished eating and drinking and we're waiting on the check. Brother and I stopped by for lunch. Was my first time here. Our waiter, Nate was a great guy! He was very helpful and attentive to our table. He brought out drinks and chips and salsa quickly. Both were homemade! My brother recommended the Taco Salad. I ordered chicken and he ordered steak. This salad was HUGE! The grilled fish tacos are a fresh flavor but not much going on but the Hong Kong Phooey packs flavor and fun I'm a taco shell with an unexpected Asian twist to a Mexican staple. This place was recommended by a local and rightly so! Love this place. We came here on a beautiful day and the garage doors were open so the atmosphere was perfect! Their happy hour runs from 3pm - 6pm for $3 drafts and $5 for their mustache ride margaritas. They have "help yourself" chips and salsa, a large selection of tacos, and various Mexican favorites. For food I ordered the chorizo and egg tacos. I didn't feel like there was much of any chorizo in it. I asked for no onions and seemed to get double. So all that part was the real bummer. It not that the tacos were not good, they were just regular. I had the ground beef ones and they were a little smaller than EBS'S and mine favorite hole in the wall Mexican place in Ypsilanti where the menu was in Spanish with English subtitles. Did have sour cream along with cheese, lettuce, and sauce. No mild or even medium level sauces, just 4 version of hot sauce. Accidentally used the hottest, very little went too,too,too long way. Glad I could take extra antacids since I can only do that with supper since I am not taking prescription med that interact with that wrong. Lots of TVS turned to sports, plenty of stuff on walls to look at, and soft seating at the high tops tables. Outside seating for nice days. The food was great, some of the locals we met when had a seat at the bar were nice asa well. The bartender however was a complete prick! Rude, disrespectful, he made sure to tell us he had no cares fir tourist and felt the area was a stale shit hole that didn't deserve more business. We tried to reach a manager but he called us back to ask why we wanted to speak to one that we can do our research and find the owner ourselves. Really good tacos but a very limited menu. Parking sucks but that's Old Hilliard for you. Portions are petite compared to others and as a result, prices are a little out of line given this. My wife who is a tiny little thing doesn't feel satisfied unless she has 3 tacos, which is a trip to see. Drinks are really good and they definitely don't skimp on the all important alcohol amount and are more value than the food prices in my opinion. The patio dining is very enjoyable but beware of bees at times who seem to be eager to share your margaritas sugary bliss. Great location in Old Hilliard just a short walk to Hilliard Station to listen to music or just chill. Recommend. read more

I stopped by Local Cantina and it was a perfect storm: happy hour (nearly all draft beers $3) and Taco Tuesday (all tacos $2). It was an amazing deal. I ordered 3 tacos: carnitas, brisket and grilled chicken. All were excellent; the brisket was smoky and the chicken came with delicious corn and beans. You get unlimited chips and salsa and they were excellent; we ordered some guacamole and it was delicious as well. On Tuesdays from 3-6, Local Cantina can't be beat. read more

This is probably my favorite of all of the Local Cantina locations we've been to. I love now open and airy it is and you don't feel like you're sitting on top of the table next to you. This was the first time we've ever been for brunch and it didn't disappoint! Get the 'tina bits you won't regret it! We also opted for a pitcher of mimosas - make sure you let them know if you don't want jalapeños in your glass! I visited Local Cantina for the first time on a Taco Tuesday. The taco options were great, lots of variety and interesting combos. I ordered a blood orange margarita which was delicious. They have self serve chips and salsa - I liked the salsa and this was convenient. Queso was delicious too. Taco Tuesday - great deals but also great crowds. Once seated it wasn't an issue but getting seated took a while (party of 2). Parking is also hard, I ended up parallel parking a few blocks away on the street. The chicken in the tacos were cold, the queso was cold, not hot at all and the flavor I remembered was not there either. For my first visit I purposefully avoided 'Taco Tuesday' to avoid crowds and have a neutral experience. I figured saving a few bucks on 2 tacos and some guacamole was not worth the other potential setbacks. The only flaw in this plan is it delayed my experience by a day. Two locations are close to me: 1) Hilliard: Located on Main Street in downtown Hilliard, 'Local Cantina' is normally a busy spot. I now understand. 2) Dublin: Located in the new(ish) 'Bridge District', the restaurant was very busy on a Thursday night. Parking: free parking garages within 1-2 blocks and some free street parking nearby make the Bridge District area easy to visit. Venue: comfortable space, decorated to feel like a hip taco street market with a full bar. A bit noisy but we could have a conversation with only a few 'huhs?' Price: inexpensive. Most tacos on Tuesday are discounted to $2. Some are $3 but this is at least $1.50 discount each. My visit was a Thursday but total bill was $17 for two tacos and an appetizer, no alcohol (this time). A co-worker and I came for a late bite to eat after a work event where food was not a dinner substitute. I suggested 'tacos' and she said 'yes'. You collect (and refill) your own chips and salsa (Chips are under warming lamp) Order queso and thank me later Study tacos or rest of menu and enjoy your appetizer while you wait for your order. Our order: - trio of dips: queso, guacamole, refried beans - grilled chicken taco - veggie taco My recommendations Queso and salsa are really good. Guacamole is a bit bland - I will skip this in future. Consider ordering the dip trio to see if you like it, though.
