The vibes are fun but the food is very mid. Self serve salsa and chips which makes me uneasy with the cleanliness knowing it's a free-for-all for anyone to come and touch. This wasn't a too particularly bus though, though it was Labor Day. It sure if there were staffing issues, but it seemed liked there was only one serve for the whole restaurant. Because of this, it took about 10-15 minutes for us to get welcomed and get water. I took at least another hour for them to tell us that the kitchen was running behind. The server did reach out to the manager because we had to leave, so they ended up boxing it up (not even the right orders probably because they were rushed). It would have been nice if the manager came to apologize and let us know about the delay, but no one came to say sorry. read more

Okay, so I haven't been here since my last visit, which was a while ago and it was disappointing. But NOW, the tacos were excellent and the Mustache Rides perfect. This was what we were originally expecting in our prior visit. Staff was attentive this time around. Sitting outside enjoying the last bits of summer was a truly enjoyable experience. After this, we will be back more often! BTW, Monday nights are Mustache Ride specials and Tuesdays are Taco Specials. Happy hours are M-F 3-6PM. Full bar Including 12 taps of craft beers and cider. The menu offers a long list of tacos and a short list of favorites like nachos, burritos, quesadillas, salads and even a chimichanga. I'm a fan of the soft and hard shell combo, that means a soft flour taco is wrapped around a crispy taco shell, very easy to eat :-) We visited on a quiet weekday for lunch, tried the mushroom quesadillas, fish taco, and a beef brisket taco. Kitchen was super extra fast, the food was delicious. The tacos are roughly street taco size, small but not tiny. A person can easily eat three, $3-5 each. Vegetarian rating: strong four stars, the refried beans are veggie, you can pick purely vegetables for your tacos, highly recommend. We had no idea that a Local Cantina opened up in UA across from Lane Ave Shops. We were looking for a place to help pass some time waiting on a friend to get home from work. We happened to spot Local Cantina while driving through the parking lot of the shops. It was like a beacon calling to us. We quickly parked and then we not so safely ran across the street. There were only a handful of people in the restaurant. We slid into two seats at the bar. We asked if they had a happy hour and we were thrilled to find out that they offered $4 drafts from 4-6pm. We ordered up two pints and then grabbed some serve yourself chips and salsa. As we enjoyed our beer we got a chance to chat with the bartender. This particular Local Cantina is opened for lunch (the Grandview location is not). They are rather slow during lunch right now, so if you are hungry for tacos during the lunch hours, stop into Local Cantina! Free chips & salsa and amazing tacos! There, that is my PSA for the day. We love Local Cantina's tacos, so we couldn't help ourselves, we ordered up 4 tacos. The roasted carnitas (weezy style - soft flour and hard corn shell with queso & guac for $1 more), Nashville hot chicken, carne asada, and Hong Kong Phooey. I'll be honest, I'm not sure getting the roasted carnitas done weezy style was necessary. Each time I get that taco, I keep thinking, it just needs a little something more, so I tried paying a buck more, and really it wasn't necessary, it didn't improve the taco anymore for me. I like the taco, I just don't love it. On the other hand, it was the first time ever trying the Hong Kong Phooey and it was amazing!!!! A party in my mouth! So flavorful and yet balanced with the heat of the sriracha and the sweetness of the teriyaki. That taco and the Nashville Hot Chicken taco were amazing!!!! This is the first spot I came to when I moved to the area, and I keep coming back. Super solid prices, multiple vegetarian and non-alcoholic options. Free parking in a garage connected to the building. Service is always quick and the whole place has a great vibe to it. The best thing this location is hands down it's crew. I just discovered this place while staying next door at a nearby hotel. I usually check yelp and reviews before trying a new spot but we were hungry and this spot was literally connected to our hotel so we took a chance. It was a great decision!! The drinks were good and boozey (if you're into that) and the service was excellent! They have a taco called the "Crunchweezy" that resembles a taco bell crunch wrap except it's actually real meat and high quality ingredients!! It's literally heaven on earth!! I also tried the Hong Kong Pooey and it was equally delicious!! The 3rd taco I had was the Nashville chicken. Now if I had this taco alone I would have been satisfied with a good meal but the other 2 choices were so phenomenal that this one actually took a backseat. The mood is light. You can get as many helpings of chips and salsa you'd like from their self serve area and they play music but it wasn't very noticeable. I currently live in Los Angeles and there are a lot of good tacos there however I've never had anything like this! So good. Can't wait to come back. We've been here a few times, it's close by. Love this chain so much, but the bartenders at Lane Ave have been very subpar. I know it's a holiday today, and I worked today too (service industry), but our bartender was very lackluster. Clearly did not want to be here at all. If I could zero stars I would. I frequent this restaurant as I am a UA resident. Today I experienced overt racism and classism. I had a long day of golf and just wanted to get tacos with my family. We all put our loungewear and crocs. We arrived and waited our turn for a table and a young lady wiped one down and seated us. We waited for nearly 20 minutes while the tables seated after us ordered and received appetizers. I flagged a waiter and asked for ours to come by. We waited again...finally the lady that wiped our table 20 minutes before came by and said can I take your drink order. I asked her to take our food order she said let me grab a pen. We waited again and I saw the same lady walk food to another table. We got up from our table and I asked for a manger to share our experience. The same lady that wiped our table came back. She told me she was one of the managers and that she did tell our waiter to come to the table a while ago. I reminder her that she had wiped our table 20 mins before and she said yes I know and did not really offer an excuse why she did not step up as manager. There was plenty of help working in the restaurant so C19 and lack of help could not be used as an excuse. The crowd was average for taco Tuesday. A fish rots from the head down. If management is not concerned about our wait why should the other staff members be. She clearly sets the bar low. Bottom line if your Black, Latino, poor or poorly dressed don't expect decent service at the UA Local Cantina. read more

This is the worst location. The bartenders are rude and/or they will walk by you and not ask if you need something. 2 weeks ago my wife and I went for taco Tuesday. We sat at the bar. It took 30 minutes to be asked if we wanted drinks and another 30 after that to get an order. Never once did they ask if we wanted another drink. Tonight we went and sat on the patio. 30 minutes and no acknowledgment by the staff. I hope the manager sees this and leaves his direct number for me to call. read more

Still waiting for management to reach out about recent horrible service and ongoing hit or miss slow service. Wait staff chats with each other and off duty staff /friends and most do not make eye contact. Means they sell less to each patron, get tipped less, have less repeat clients so NO clue why not addressed. Also, lowest quality "steak" fajitas in town, worse than ElVaquero (low bar) and Cucos (medium bar) and way worse than Louie's. Monday I will be calling Corporate and media relations, they need to start from scratch at this location. read more

Used to be a 5 when they first opened. Service has gone downhill to the point we were seated for 20 minutes and no one even came to our table. And yes, we were seated by the host. The new menu is dreadful. They changed everything but not the menu names, so, beware, you won't be getting what you think you ordered based on past visits. read more

The service at this location is terrible. Every time we go in we are ignored for ten minutes before they actually acknowledge we need a table. The last time we went in there was an eaten cob of corn on the floor. I counted five servers seeing it. No one bothered to clean it up. So gross. read more
