I did and made an appointment, but he never showed. After that, I have been calling to try to schedule an appointment now for about a month. We paid $350 for both springs to be replaced.

I got their information from the LiftMaster dealer page and ended up talking with Steve the owner. Steve was great on the phone and took the time to answer all of my questions. He ended up recommending the LiftMaster 8550 with battery backup, keyless entry, and smartphone control. Turns out this is the very same garage door opener Steve has on his home--which was a good sign. We scheduled Steve to come over the next day and install my new LiftMaster. I was really happy he was available to come over so quickly. I'm used to having to schedule service calls or appointments for my home a week out. Steve showed up at the promised time the next day and got right to work. Turns out he's has been installing and repairing garage doors for over 45 years! It's rare to find people with such a wealth of expertise, but Steve's got it. I suspect he's been working on garage doors for so long that he's probably gotten more about garage doors than most other professionals ever learned. With the installation finished I helped Steve clean-up and we tested it out. My new LiftMaster 8550 looked great and functioned perfectly. I'm really happy with it because it's much, much quieter than my older chain-driven Genie, more responsive when controlled via remote, and the iPhone app is pretty cool too. It's also worth mentioning that I priced out this same LiftMaster 8550 package with another company and they $200 more expensive! After some negotiation they offered me $100 off, but that was still more than $100 more than Steve's price. I really appreciate that Steve didn't try to gouge me and quoted me a fair price. If you're looking for help with your garage door or need a new door installed I recommend giving Steve a call. He's a great person to do business with.

The scope was clearly explained: remove the existing top panel, install the new panel as a center section, and reinstall the original top panel in its proper position. He did not follow those instructions. Instead, he installed the new center panel at the top and left the original top panel in the middle of the door. This is not a minor detail--it is fundamentally incorrect for how a garage door is designed to function. As a result: * The top section no longer has the proper structural reinforcement required to mount the garage door opener bracket correctly. * The opener bracket cannot be properly secured due to the narrow framing of the panel now at the top. * The original reinforced top panel is now misplaced in the middle of the door, where it serves no functional purpose. When I raised these concerns, he became defensive and insisted that "30 years of experience" justified the work. Experience should result in getting the fundamentals right, not ignoring them. Most concerning, when I explained that I could not leave a positive review due to the installation error, the interaction became confrontational and included statements I perceived as threatening. This is a basic installation error that affects both function and safety. Garage doors are heavy, high-tension systems, and improper installation, especially at the top section where the opener applies force, can create real safety risks. This is not something I would take chances with in my home.

He called at 1:00 pm saying he would be there in twenty minutes, which would have been fine except nobody was home yet. A small inconvenience worth mentioning. He did send a photo of himself in advance so I knew who to expect at the door, which was an appreciated safety detail. The technician arrived in uniform, driving a branded truck, and presented himself professionally and courteously throughout the visit. He assessed the door, explained what he believed the issue to be, and presented three options with considerably different price points. Not knowing much about garage doors myself I called my husband, and the technician patiently walked him through everything again, answered his questions, and adjusted the estimate accordingly. That patience earned him genuine credit. An hour and a half later the job was done. The spring was tensioned, several rollers and hinges were replaced, and the motor was reset. The garage door works now. Here is where the three stars come in, $1,000 for that work left us with a nagging feeling that is hard to shake. Were all those replacements truly necessary? When you are alone with a technician who knows far more than you do about garage doors, it is difficult to push back or ask the right questions.
