The portions were just right where I was full for hours without being miserable. The menu was so big that it took me a long time to decide what I wanted to eat, so I know that I'll need to go back a few times to sample all of the deliciousness that they have to offer! While the food was good and the chicken seemed high quality, the service was pretty bad. We were the only ones there at lunch time and they were not busy at all yet when we were confused about the menu, told them it was our first time, and asked them a few questions, they were super unhelpful and seemed pretty annoyed at us. It actually made me a little uncomfortable to eat there but we ended up doing it anyways out of convenience. I was so excited to find a healthy option while out and about away from my meal prep. I got a basic build your own - spring mix, quinoa (add on), chicken (add on). But the girl working was on her phone, didn't greet our party, and didn't hang up when she started taking my order she just put an AirPod in. When serving me -- the chicken breast looked small, and I asked how many ounces are in the serving she said "I don't know." I find it odd they don't have a standard size per serving. I asked for a second piece and understood it's an additional charge. The menu board says $4 but they charged $5 per piece of chicken. The chicken looked pink, I mentioned it looking undercooked and she said it always looks like that. The quinoa add on was listed as $2 extra but it was $2.50 on my receipt. This is simply false advertisement on their menu pricing. I paid $27.73 for my salad (spring mix, chicken breast, quinoa, tomato, cucumber, and olive oil with a side of lemons). I also recommend you avoid this place unless you want to be overcharged and provided shitty service by high school aged girls who can't be bothered to care about their job. They are rude and uninterested in providing good customer service. Their friends also came in shortly after we ordered and left with free things, the owner might want to check the cameras more often! Honestly, as lackluster and underwhelming as you can get. This was an hour before closing, and two girls were working the counter. One was super cold and uninterested in us (you could tell she really didn't want to be there), and the other was very nice but could have used some training when it came to food prep... it was clear that she was new. After the five of us got our food and went outside to sit, we started eating. A few minutes went by and one by one, we started talking about how our food was. It turned out *none* of us liked our meals... and we all ordered different things. I got the ahi tuna poke. I've had it before in Hawaii and loved it, but this one was so bad I didn't even finish it. While we were eating and closing time rolled around, that first girl walked up to the front door and locked it without even acknowledging us... and we were sitting directly in front of her. We weren't planning on going back inside, but... I don't know. You'd kind of hope to hear at least something like, "How's the food?" Instead, we got the door locked in our faces. My coworkers and I really tried to give this place so many chances... my coworker ordered the curry bowl to go and when we got back to work, the lentils were... crunchy and starchy. Like, just warm but uncooked. After taking one bite, we went back to ask for something different- and the woman working (Alma E on the receipt) yelled at us and stuck her bare hand in the lentils and rubbed them together in our faces saying the lentils were fine and delicious and we should know better. Situated in a busy street but easily accessible with parking is a cute little healthy spot to grab some breakfast or lunch. When entering no greeting and most of the workers (there were about 5, done changing shifts) are teens so we waited about 7 min to get help. We were the only ones in line. However, once someone else helped us, they were really friendly. The açaí bowl with blue collagen and their granola with the many choices of drizzle & fruit were a nice surprise. I had an hour before my train back home so I decided to stop in for a healthy dinner. I loved how clean and open this place was and it had all fresh ingredients behind the glass. I was so thrilled to have stumbled upon this place! I wanted to do the Thai bowl, it sounded amazing but I wasn't in the mood for a cold dish, so I decided to go with the Baja bro bowl. I wasn't sure what the concept was preparing the food. They have a huge bowl and mixed together all the ingredients! There was fresh white chicken chunks, basmati rice, cilantro, black beans, fresh salsa, jalapenos, and a lime squeeze and dressing mixed all together. I was happily satisfied that it lived up to my expectations! Even more so! The flavor was great, the portion size was really good, everything was so fresh, and the gal behind the counter was so friendly and nice! They were offering free soup, but that would have been messy on the train so I just got my chicken and rice bowl and left. It is amazing! I will have to see if there is one in Long Beach. Look. I'm not one to complain, but when my friend and I came in and the food is alright, it's the service that it utterly unacceptable. We weren't greeted and the first young lady was on her phone and basically had to wave her down to make our order. I'll cut her a break, it was her co worker that had zero sanitation when preparing my friends salad. If I wasn't a local and regular here I would leave them one or two stars. This place has gotten significantly worse over about the last year. This is not a criticism of the friendly young woman who worked behind the counter tonight. None of this is her fault. The quality of the ingredients in the Thai salad with peanut sauce was so bad it was almost insulting. The soba noodles were hard and flavorless and tasted like they have cooked early this morning, or even over the weekend. The chicken made me concerned after the first few bites that there was something wrong with it and that I am not going to be feeling well. Again, it tasted like it had been cooked many hours ago. The turmeric lemonade was disgusting and I had to spit out the first sip. I am writing this because I hope the owners are reading this. You have a great business here, or at least you used to before something changed. Please recognize that you're not tricking your customers into eating subpar food without knowing it. One bowl came with undercooked chicken, one bowl had rock hard basically uncooked rice, and the two kid bowls had hard uncooked sweet potatoes. This was our first visit to Local Greens. Everything about the place looked right. We were happy to find a place with a menu like theirs. We eat strictly vegan, so it's difficult to find a restaurant that can offer so many choices. My wife ordered a build your own salad, and I ordered four side dishes. We were in town for the day and ordered to go for a later meal at home. My side dishes were Basmati and Wild Rice (hard and mostly uncooked), Sweet potato (I can't imagine how they made this so tough and taste so bad), Lentils (they were flavorless, but pretty good after I cooked them further and added jalapeño), and Cauliflower(very tasty). My wife couldn't eat her salad, as rice was a major ingredient which was mixed in. As already mentioned, it was hard and mostly uncooked. All but the lentils and cauliflower were tossed into the trash. Had we not traveled 50 miles before we attempted to eat this food, I would have returned for a refund. The concept is great, but the execution was poor. You only get one first impression, and they failed with us. Beside the person behind us, we were the only customers. I should have taken that into consideration, due to the excellent location and a large amount of foot traffic in the area. I have to assume that the food is never any better than this. read more

Wanted to try something different for lunch and found this place. It looked very healthy and they had a very unique menu. I tried the pesto chicken sandwich, it was great but the filling kept coming out so it was a little hard to eat. All the ingredients were so fresh though and they loaded it with chicken. I had always wanted to try Local Greens seeing as they seem to be veg-friendly, so when in the area for the day, we stopped in for lunch with some friends and their kids. The service was decent and the selection plentiful, but I felt some of the pricing was excessive - I ordered the Protein Power Salad ($10) which had spinach, kale, lentils, rice, edamame and a couple of veggies with a tahini vinaigrette. I added cucumber ($0.50 extra, if I remember correctly) and was asked my preference on the amount of dressing, which I appreciated! Salads are usually made too overdressed for my liking. I wanted to maximize my protein by adding tofu, which would have been a steep $3 extra. I decided not to, but spent that $$ elsewhere by adding a chocolate chip cookie to my meal (YUM). The portion size was certainly generous, but the ratio of greens to other veggies was out of balance in my opinion. I was bored of munching kale about halfway thru my salad, and left a good pile of it in my bowl after all the good stuff was gone. Overall, Local Greens seems to be a great place to stop in for a healthy bite, but a little more variety to the salads without the steep price tag would definitely go a long way! I have always passed this place when going to Cedros and the beach. What a gem! The menu is extensive with lots of healthy choices to choose from. I really was in the mood for a smoothie so I ordered the Green Warrior. When I saw the girl loading up the mixer with ingredients I my eyes got wide with the amount of leafy greens there. I really thought my smoothie would have tasted like a freshly cut lawn because I did request my smoothie to be made without dates due to the high sugar content in that ingredient. Upon first sip, I was so surprised with how tasty the smoothie was! I think the bit of OJ and agave nectar they add to the smoothie gives the drink enough sweetness. There are also gluten free pastries available. I plan on returning here more times as it is a good alternative to Beaming juicery and Choice a couple blocks away. read more

Completely spaced on packing a lunch today so i decided to pay Local Greens a visit after some time away from this establishment. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had a vegan curry bowl option called 'Karma Katchuri Curry'. I decided to give it a try since I love all curries and the ingredients were very promising! Unfortunately, the bowl proved to be extremely bland like the two other bowls (Spicy Teriyaki & Hang Ten Thai) that I had tried from this establishment. This is speaking from my personal palate, but all meals had left me wanting more flavor and seasoning. With that being said, this establishment IS located in Solana Beach. They also only gave me what looked like a tablespoon of their 'curry' sauce, and their lentils seemed to have been simmered in water; that's how bland they tasted. This is such a disservice to all curries alike! I really don't understand why this establishment has such shining reviews. But maybe they should start stepping up their vegan options! read more

I got the simplest thing I have ever gotten here - a mix of all the greens 'cept cabbage + raw tofu + zucchini + cukes + tomatoes. And with one of the lowest-cal dressings, sesame ginger. So no smoothie, no noodles, nothin' but salad. And yet it was super fresh and tasty.... But more importantly than it being flavorful - I felt *so good after I ate it*. Seriously I'm arguing over a difference of $1. Then the manager tells me well people always try to get us for free food. We used to go grab a salad or wrap on a regular basis but this last time ..yikes . From the minute we went in ..so strange the 3 girls seemed more interested in each other and their phones than helping us or actually working . My wife ordered the Hang ten Thai bowl on arugula and romaine and they seemed confused and asked if we wanted the noodles I said no ..hence the greens choice . Well needless to say by the time the third person took over our order they kept passing us off to each other ..the noodles were added into this bowl of mushy WAY overdressed glob of food ..the noodles where in clumps and what ever kind of chicken was in there was suspect for sure . The dressing was so salty..ingredients were all just not fresh . There are bowl and plate places everywhere so I guess we will start looking . Kind of bummed because it is close to home . Was excited to try out this place, soon realized it was horrid. I wouldn't even feed what I ordered to my dog. Left asking myself, why didn't I just go to subway. My boyfriend and I came in to test out local greens around 12:30pm today. It wasn't busy. We ordered two plates. One baked tofu teriyaki plate with kale balsamic salad and cauliflower sides. The tofu was not baked at all, it was raw, still wet, no seasoning just drizzle of teriyaki. I eat tofu weekly as I am vegan and this tofu is the reason non tofu eaters are terrified of tofu! My kale salad had such giant cuts of kale I couldn't even fit it in my mouth, I had to use my fingers to roll up the kale to eat. Lastly the cauliflower had a pregnant looking bug on it! The other plate was a grass fed steak with sweet potato and chickpeas. The veggies had absolute no seasoning on it it at all. Sweet potato was under cooked and still hard while the chickpeas were not baked at all like it advertised. Pictures below for reference. I told and tried to show the older woman at the counter and she said it's just potatoes and I'll heat up the chicken. I asked if I could have my money back and she told me to wait.
