A review post rescheduled event:…read more Overall, our guests were comfortable, the sound system was good, the room was clean and airy with high ceilings and needed minimal decorations. There was room for our food and sweets tables as well as for a small dance floor which was appropriate for our intimate event with close family and friends. As an event space, the sky tower room delivered all of the things we were looking for. ---------------------- The space was clean, easy to access from the Highway, there was street side parking for our guests as long as they arrived early. The general manager Shanita(?) was there cleaning from a prior event and greeted us at the door at 2pm. It was good that we started the event later (4pm) than our reservation started (2pm) because our DJ had to work with event staff and call the owner because our DJ was having trouble connecting to the system. We followed up with staff onsite to make sure we revived the ice, serving trays, and table linens that were included in our package. We decided not to follow up about using the projector/tv screens after being brushed off when we asked for the other included amenities, but there were two large flatscreen TVs behind the sound booth. There was another event happening at the same time in the smaller room next door and we could only hear them (and assume that they could also hear us) if the front doors were open. At one point a guest from the other party clogged one of the toilets so it was shut down. The site manager was there to direct people to the right room and to shut down the room that was out of service. We started cleanup at 8 pm and we did our best to clear the space of debris that was generated by our event. The contract was very specific about prohibited activities (IE: no tape. No confetti etc) so we wanted to be sure to keep up our end of the deal especially because some of our decorative balloons popped and made a mess. The manager came in at 9pm and let us know that she would handle the rest if we got our items out of the space. We (clearly) did not have the best time negotiating the terms of the rescheduled event especially when we wanted to switch event spaces. Beautiful site. Lovely amenities.

We recently hosted a bridal shower for a friend and it was such a bad experience. The owner or manager was very unprofessional over the phone. The two assistants were incredibly rude. An attitude for literally everything that came out of their mouths. They were also dressed like they were going to hang out (hoodies and sneakers). I was really surprised by this. We also had very little help setting up. They spent most of their time in the kitchen talking to each other. The only thing they really did was serve the food and clean up, but we really could have used their help in other ways. It angers me because people already see the Bronx as a less than ideal part of the city, and I was really optimistic after seeing the space initially and reading reviews, but I guess I was wrong. Overall, if you're going for a space with unprofessional workers that are mostly useless to host your event, you're at the right place.

The price was extremely reasonable, providing inclusions not available at normal event spaces. Tables, chairs, sound equipment, warmers, refrigeration, security, all included. There also are additional perks for up-charge that are reasonable as well. We took advantage of the red carpet, uplighting and chiavari chairs. You can tell that deep thought was put into the creation of this space, from the built-in bar to the built-in lines to make draping easier. This was the perfect space to host our event and the friendliness and professionalism of the staff made it extra special. I cancelled the other venue immediately. It was the best decision I made in the entire planning process. Charlie, the venue manager, was awesome. He assured me I didn't need to overspend to create something magical. He supported me from start to finish, responded to every concern, offered creative solutions, and genuinely cared about us having a meaningful, joyful event. After the bat mitzvah, when I needed help navigating some vendor issues, he stepped up without hesitation. That level of support was priceless. Our guests were taken aback by how gorgeous the room looked and how special the atmosphere felt. If you're looking for a breathtaking space, flexible and wonderful people to work with, and a venue that truly cares about your event, Lights on Kent is it. Frank was such a great help in renting the hall to me, and Tricia, that manage the party, prepared everything for me the day of the party. She was not only professional, she was exceptionally personable and could not have been more helpful, or work any harder, to make my party the success that it was. The search for a location was disheartening and filled with over-luxurious locations that over charge you for any little addition and amenities. I almost gave up. What made Kinfolk unique and special is the owners. Mrs. Williams was accommodating, flexible, understanding, responsive, and very attentive. We were able to fully customize our experience to our liking rather than to fit it around some owner's overly restrictive and expensive idea of a special occasion. Not everyone is looking for some giant space for their baby shower. It is supposed to be an intimate affair after all. And more importantly, it's your day not theirs. The location is new, clean, beautiful and well maintained. It has a beautiful bathroom, outdoor space, kitchen area, wifi and a sound system is available for an additional fee. We recommend this place and look forward to renting it again ourselves. Thank you Kinfolk for being a part of our beautiful memory.
