Enzo's was the only place in which to cap off my wonderful solo trip to New York. This restaurant is the perfect example of why the Bronx's Little Italy has earned such a stellar reputation. I wasn't sure what to expect walking in on my own knowing Enzo's popularity, but I arrived early enough for what could be late lunch/early dinner. The wait staff immediately made me feel welcome, were attentive without hovering, friendly without being overbearing, and struck that perfect balance that makes dining alone feel comfortable. As I expected, the food was outstanding. I ordered the broccoli rabe and sausage in garlic and oil. It was everything I hoped: savory, flavorful, and filling. The slight bitterness of the broccoli rabe paired beautifully with the rich, well-seasoned sausage. I grew up in Danbury, Connecticut and am no stranger to delicious Italian food. Living in the South for as long as I have, it's really hard to find an Italian restaurant down here that can deliver on any pasta dish that doesn't use tomato sauce. Needless to say, this dish was heavenly. For dessert, I ordered an espresso and the lemon gelato, which turned out to be both delicious and memorable. Not only was it incredibly refreshing after the meal, with a bright, authentic lemon flavor, but it was served inside an actual lemon. The presentation was charming and fun, and the gelato itself was smooth, creamy, and the perfect way to end the evening. Between the excellent food, the welcoming atmosphere, and a staff that made a solo diner feel completely at home, Enzo's delivered exactly the kind of experience I was hoping to find on Arthur Avenue. We loved going to little Italy and this was the first time we actually dined at a restaurant in the area. We had a good experience at Enzo's. Since our daughter was sleeping in the stroller we dined outside. My husband ordered chicken parmigiana with a side of spaghetti. I got the chicken capricciosa which was a pounded and breaded chicken cutlet with an arugula salad on top. I really liked that the chicken was super thin. It was quite impressive how thin they pounded the cutlet. It was super easy to cut into. The chicken was perfectly seasoned. I like the salad that it was topped with. It had cheese a lemony dressing with red onions. The only star I knocked off was because we had trouble flagging down a waiter here and there to place our order and get a check, but once we got the waiter we got what we needed quickly. They were over seasoned and dense. When the dish came out it looked like the sauce was watery but after stirring the pasta all that liquid was quickly absorbed. Ventured here from LI to meet up with a friend and her boyfriend. My friend lives in CT, so it's a good halfway point. The restaurant is in the heart of the Bronx's "Little Italy." There were a lot of options, but I am so happy we chose this place. It's fairly large and a very pretty restaurant. We were seated right away and had a reservation for 4. Service was quick. We all enjoyed our food. My friend had a few snafoos with her food, but they were all fixed. My friend and I are gluten and dairy free and they were very accommodating. This was a huge plus. My friend and I started off sharing the tri color salad. It was a perfect portion for two to share. The guys each got a salad as well that they enjoyed. My friend and her boyfriend both got the lamb chop, they loved it. I got the branzino special. It was deboned very well. It was nice and tasty. I thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband got the pork braciole. It reminded him of his mother's cooking and he really liked it. The food was delicious. Service was pretty good and the wine selection was as well. The old fashioned was delicious but a touch on the sweeter side which was expected as it was a maple old fashioned. I came here with my family on a Sunday afternoon for lunch after going to the NY Botanical Garden. We ordered the fried calamari, the Zuppa Di Pesce (shrimp, calamari, clams, mussels, lobster tail with linguine), the Cinque Sorelle pizza (pancetta, smoked mozzarella, pesto, cherry tomatoes,roasted red peppers), and the veal parmigiana (breaded veal cutlet with spaghetti). The portions were huge, definitely shareable and still plenty for leftovers (lunches for the week, score). The seafood pasta was really delicious, had a lot of fresh seafood and definitely had great value. The calamari, veal parmigiana, and the pizza were good as well. They catered to our table right away immediately serving us drinks. They accidentally gave me a martini with a twist inside of a dirty martini and fixed it with no issues. The food was very good and portions hefty. We tried many things the pastas were both off the charts. Chicken francese was one of the best I have ever had. We started at Cosenza's Fish Market, then headed to Bronx Beer Hall inside the Arthur Avenue Retail Market, stopped by Calabria Pork Store, and then had lunch at Enzo's. At Enzo's, we started with a glass of the Montepulciano (only $12) and ordered the appetizer special: polenta with spicy mushrooms. It was tasty and something a bit different. For mains, we split the broccolini and the sausage lasagna. The portions were huge, the broccolini was beautifully cooked, garlicky and flavorful without being too bitter, and the lasagna was a generous slice with a great balance of cheese, meat, and pasta. The entire meal came to about $60 with tip. We were far too full for dessert, but all the options looked great. I'm already looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu. read more

Last night i went here with my family for my dad's bday. I wanna give it 3.5 stars. For appetizers, we ordered fried calamari, clams oreganata and seafood salad. For main course, i ordered Rigatoni Bolognese, my nephew ordered Margherita Bolognese, my bro ordered short rib, my dad ordered a fish dish which ended up having bones in it. I tried the pizza also. Rigatoni Bolognese: The sauce had lots of meat but was a little on the saltier side good basil flavor, the pasta itself tasted very fresh. Margerita Pizza: Sauce was good, good basil flavor, Outer Crust had good char, but the bottom was a little too soft. Clams oreganata- eh, nothing to write home about, not much clam. Seafood salad- Not bad, good mix of seafood. Fried calamari - pretty good, light, crispy but fluffy/airy. The mvp of all of the dishes. Overall: it won't be my first pick of the area and is more along the lines of I'll go if my family forces me, but i won't go without them because there's better places nearby. Had a great meal here. We were a table of 2 so a reservation was not possible. Got there at 4:45 on a Saturday and it was a 90 minute wait for a table. The other option was to sit at that bar (this is on a first come basis). We sat relatively quickly (15 minutes) and the bartender was fantastic. She made great drink and food recommendations. Started with the Meatballs and spicy calamari as appetizers. Meatballs (6 golfball sized) served with sautéed onions and peppers. Great taste. Then ordered the Chicken Scarpariello and Pasta with pesto. The on-the-bone chicken had great flavor with just the right amount of heat and a hint of rosemary. Really enjoyed every one but the cheese burrata was a smoked something not sure what but not the usual cheese, still great just a heads up. The eggplant was ordered by our vegetarian and we all tried it was wonderful. Dishes were all pasta themed, not on purpose, the pesto gnocchi was the best imo. All good, that one was just a standout. My lasagna was fine nothing special, wife's pesto dish was unimpressive. My kids ordered better dishes. No drinks to review, we didn't like what was offered. Food here is really solid - nothing wrong with anything that we got. No reservations. 6pm seating. Parking right out front. Immediately seated. Although it was only two of us for dinner, we were seating at the corner table for 4 with a perfect view of the restaurant. I saw that this was a highly rated Italian restaurant on Arthur Ave and was craving good food without the tourist trap. Upon entering the enclosed porch I spotted some Enzo brand jarred sauces to my right and was fearful I may have failed in my attempt to avoid the kitsch. However, on the first bite of focaccia I knew we had a winner. The focaccia bread special was richly baked with olive oil and slightly blackened by a pizza oven. The fluffy bread had a bountiful amount of roasted red peppers, mozzarella cheese, and basil. Each ingredient carried enough flavor to be a highlight on its own. There is a short cocktail menu and an extensive list. I decided to try the pear special, which really didn't pair with anything I ate, but it shined perfectly on its own. This had fresh pear puree and a gentle, autumnal seasoning. I'd recommend this if it's still on the menu when you are there. The menu has enough options to have crafted variety. I was eyeing the Della Nonna, but upon learning it was a cream sauce vs a pink or red sauce, I opted for the chicken special. This was thinly sliced chicken breast, a thin layer of eggplant, tons of roasted red peppers, and a thin layer of prosciutto covered in a fresh, melted mozzarella. The red sauce was herb infused and not overly sweet or thick. The portions are large, enough for a few meals. I'd also recommend getting this dish if you don't want a typical tomato or cream sauce. The creamy clam dish my friend ordered was abundant and she really enjoyed it. The pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente. Our waiter was funny and friendly. I almost wanted to invite him to sit down. He made the environment very comfortable, if not cozy. The other staff members were also kind and responsive, but very busy working. The later the night got, the busier the restaurant became. I do feel an hour and a half is not long enough for a meal here. If we weren't in a rush, we for sure would have stayed for coffee and dessert. Considering the quality of the meal, the service, and the portions the pricing is excellent. The cocktails are on par with Manhattan prices, but if you wanted to save a little, there were affordable glasses of wine. This place is really lovely and I hope to visit again! read more

I had shrimp oreganata over risotto. 6 generously sized shrimp, breaded perfectly. Risotto had just the right amount of of creaminess and sauce. Generous portion, I could not finish the risotto. Hubby had meatball parm panini which he enjoyed very much. Too full for dessert, but also wanted to enjoy other flavors of Arthur Ave and visit a world class Italian bakery so we skipped it. Coffee was outstanding. Nothing better than a good cup of Italian coffee. The only knock was keeping a door propped open. Honestly I didn't ask them to close it but should have. I hear there are lots if hidden gems in Arthur ave, this was recommended as one of them. Now, there's not much hidden about this place, once you go in, you realize hoe massive the space is... its a great option for a large group. The menu is large and covers all the classics. Plenty of pasta, chicken, veal and lamb dishes to choose from. They also have a pizza menu (i recommend the arthur ave pizza). Service was a bit mixed. It was super slow and not only due to the place being busy. The server just had really bad timing, he wouldnt proactively check in on the table and on a few occasions we had to flag him down for service. I think all the extra waiting added a least 40 min by the time we were all done and paid the bill. Prices were not cheap, for large geoups you are limited to a few good big soots in the area. However, if you only have a small group of 2-4 ppl, I suggest finding a smaller place where you get more attentive service and possibly better prices. read more

I've been here a few times and out of all the places/choices on Arthur Avenue to dine in there is just something about this place that keeps me coming back . Mike T was our waiter on this visit and he was most excellent. I found the food to be above average. The cocktails are very well made . Very welcoming ambience when they catch you at the door as soon as you come in, which is a basic thing, but I think a lot of restaurants really dropped the ball on welcoming their guest as they enter . As an older man who can be very critical, I just can't find anything to be critical about as it pertains to this spot. read more

I'm typically not a fan of red sauces, but this one was flavorful and really well balanced. - Caesar Salad with Grilled Shrimp: I had initially asked for salmon with this salad but they told me that wasn't an option. That was disappointing! I went with the shrimp instead. Luckily it was good and perfectly cooked! I came to Enzo's yesterday at recommendation from one of the butchers at Vincent's meat market. My mother and I ran across the street for some popular Italian fares after shopping on Arthur ave all day and going to the botanical gardens. Enzos offers lots of seating with a large full working bar. We were promptly seated and our orders taken. we tried three dishes and all of them were on special. The tomato and cucumber salad with feta, the lobster manicotti and chicken stuffed with prosciutto, topped with cheese and fresh figs. The salad was tangy with so much creamy feta and basil. The manicotti was STUFFED with lobster chunks throughout the entire dish and melty cheese. And the chicken was cooked perfectly and covered in a white wine sauce. The montepulciano was fantastic here, my mother and I both enjoyed a glass. read more
