Came here for lunch and was such a great place and fun ambiance. We were seated right away and the staff were all friendly. We sat inside and it was very chill and they had TV's and the bar inside but more quiet atmosphere. They had outside seating as well but was a bit on the Hot side. Not sure if it's a Canada thing but their water they served was delicious. We were in time for their happy hot and grabbed a few beers as well. Everything that we ordered for food was just delicious. We started with a salad with the most yummy vinaigrette and just well served salad. Their steak fajitas were delicious and came with a side of tortillas. Their prongs curry was delicious but it does have a good kick so if you like spicy this is perfect for you. Their salmon plate was very yummy as well with a bed of asparagus and a splash of lemon. I got their burger and was very good and the fries were fresh and perfect amount as well. Their server Allie was just amazing in so many way and very attentive and was pretty remarkable that's she remembered our whole order. We were welcomed by the host with a warm smile, and we even got to watch two cute dogs relaxing with their owners at a nearby table. ​We ordered three dishes, and every single one of them was delicious--served at the right temperature, with fantastic textures and spot-on seasoning. To start, the LOCAL Fried Chicken with hot honey and sliced pickles was finger-licking good. It was just the right amount of spicy and sweet, with a wonderfully crispy exterior. Next came the Pinche Pork Tacos. To our surprise, these were the best tacos we have tasted so far in Vancouver- even better than traditional Mexican restaurants. The warmed-up soft shells were fully loaded with soft, slow-cooked pork, crunchy shredded cabbage, tangy feta, and fresh cilantro. We are already planning to try the fish tacos on our next visit. ​Finally, the Fully Loaded Crispy Potatoes turned out to be something quite different from what we expected when we read the menu. They featured thin-layered, stacked potatoes paired with savory bacon and spicy jalapeño, all bound together by a parmesan horseradish aioli sauce. Stopped by on a Sunday and had a great experience. Staff were friendly and helpful, with plenty of seating available. Parking in front is limited, but there are nearby spots within walking distance. Shoutout to Megan for being so welcoming and attentive throughout our visit. The place was clean, including the restrooms, and there were plenty of food and drink options. I had the beef tacos. I think I came in with high expectations, but they were still good. The meat was a little dry, the sauce wasn't as spicy as I expected, and the tortilla tended to fall apart, but overall I still loved them and would come back again. Burger and nachos were both 10/10! This place is great. It's loud and noisy but it's a fun upbeat environment. There is outdoor seating. They even have rain guards and heaters for those rainy days. They had hockey and basketball games on. Full bar. Lots of drink options. The food was delicious. Not one compliant. The Sriracha chicken was spicy but that's exactly what we wanted. I think the experience here would have been different if it was just to drink. Online it states that it's a nice atmosphere which it is. It also states it has food and tower mimosas. Beautiful and large outdoor seating but we sat inside. I took my partner and his parents here on Saturday afternoon, April 4th and the service was awful. And I want to recognize this might be due to it's majnly tavern. Its known for serving drinks and having a large patio to stop, sit, and have a cold one. And it does have a full food menu so I thought we could have some food. It even has brunch. I was surprised. My parents are older and ordered coffee when the server first greeted us. We ordered our food shortly after. The beer my partner ordered was given quickly along with my iced tea. Food came out but wasn't given by server. We paid $15.00 for an extra side that was apparently put into the dish itself which felt odd. We asked for another side and the waitress covered it which was amazing. We requested some other items and waited. Our server completely forgot about the coffee and didn't bring out requested items until after our food was finished. And the side was painful small for the price. The server rarely checked on us and was incredibly nice and understanding when we did interact with her. I recognize Gastown is very $$$ and I'm surprised this restaurant/bar sells food. I didn't have a great experience with the amount of money we paid and the service we got. We will not be going back on our next visit Canada. Maybe later one we will try again and only order drinks. read more

Very cool vibe when you come in. It's a bustling place,good music, clean and nice overall decor. We were seated right in front of the bar. So one of the bartenders was supposed to be our server. He was quite friendly but I can remeber his name. He took or drink order, I asked a couple of questions about food allergens which he was going to confirm and asked for a sample of the Dino sour. While 3 of 4 of us got our drinks I did not. He forgot about us completely. I finally looked toward the bar bar to catch his attention. I've been to LOCAL twice and sadly both times the service was EXTREMELY slow and I don't think I'll be going to this restaurant again. At the door it says they open at 10am on weekends, we got there at 10:20am. The restaurant was open but we weren't allowed in because they were waiting for their servers to come in. They had empty tables and had multiple people waiting in line outside. They could have at least let us take a seat and offer some water. We were finally seated after 30 mins (this whole time those tables were empty.) We still had to wait 20 mins for the server to come take our order. Then after another 30 mins of wait our food finally came. Nobody came to check on us after the food was served. The food & drinks are good but is it worth the wait? No. Both times when we visited this restaurant, it looked like they had so many empty tables and we thought we were going to get seated & served right away. This place need no recommendations. Centrally located with extra amazing staff all the time who are ready to take you in for a joyful fun time. Seating availability can be tricky on the weekends as it gets packed very quick. Wait is worth it though. Interior is great and have high energy vibes. We honestly went to this spot because the other places we were looking at (Rogue / Steamworks / Etc.) had lower reviews and Local had a huge outdoor patio with great people-watching. Well, that was why we went the first time. We returned later in our trip because the first experience was so enjoyable. Our group of four ordered the chicken quesadilla, the Local burger, the noodle salad and the blackened chicken curry bowl. On the second trip the same things were ordered, but by different people. It is a true rarity in my opinion to not have a single mediocre meal in the group. The servers in both occasions were friendly, helpful and attentive.
