This review is purely based on the hostess that worked between the hour of 1900 to 2000 on 5/27/2023. We had put our name down for a table of 2 and I was told that the wait was going to be 30-45 minutes. I was fine with that because I understood that it was a Saturday night and the place looked pretty busy. However, after 25 minutes I had followed up with the hostess to see how much longer and she replied with "oh we'll call you when a table is ready, no worries." What set me off was the fact she started seating folks that came up and never put their name on the waitlist. After a few more minutes I had asked a different hostess what the statues of my table was and she goes "oh how long have you been waiting?" And I proceeded to tell her over 30min. She didn't apologize or acknowledge that I had to wait for so long needlessly (granted they seated other folks who literally came up and didn't wait a single minute. TLDR: the drinks were good and the food was great. The hostesses need to do better. read more

My family and I stopped in for dinner tonight while traveling from out of town. The menu options are what drew is in as there was something for everyone. My wife had the fried chicken ramen, which she kept going on about and loved. My daughter, the pickiest of us, had the steak and fries which she loved as well. My son had the fish & chips which he loved - I had a taste of it & the fish really pretty flavorful. I had the deluxe burger, also very flavorful & well cooked. The staff was very upbeat and friendly which more than made up for how busy they were. Service was a little slow, admittedly, but not enough to warrant me removing a star in my rating. I had high expectations of this place but ended up being disappointed because the server was expressionless and rude to us during our visit. I thought it was strange how the beans were lumped together UNDERNEATH all the chips and not mixed together. The chicken was dry, and the chips needed way more cheese. I wish I asked for more salsa or tobasco on the side...but I didn't bother to do that considering I wanted to minimize as much interaction with the server as possible. I'm glad that we also ordered beef tacos which were EXTREMELY flavourful. I'm the type to usually drench tacos in extra salsa -- but that necessary. The slow cooked beef was so tender and delicious and there was a perfect balance of savoury, acid, and spice. Warning: the noise level is pretty high. Might not be the greatest option for an intimate date but suitable if you're more focused on watching the game with a group. read more

My friends and I ate here the night before the 2019 BMO half marathon. I had the Diablo burger. It was very flavorful and surprisingly not spicy, even with all of those jalapenos. One friend had a curry dish and the other friend also had a burger. All meals were enjoyed. Six of us arrived at Local at around 10 pm, Saturday November 5th. Server served us until 12:30. We got our bills and decided, since we had a long train home we'd get another round of shots for the road. So because we had paid, we all got up and went to the bar to take the final shot. Server told us we'd have to find a table because he can't serve us at the bar. Fair! We all complied and walked to a tall table to stand at. The manager then comes over, annoyed. Asks us what we were doing, and that we couldn't just walk in off the street and order shots this close to closing. I said we had been here for two hours prior and that others were still being served. He then continued to question us, asking us "where was your table then?" To which I pointed over by the door and said "we sat at the table by the door". He didn't seem to believe us, and my friend was like , "what's the problem?" And he then said "we can escalate this if you want" and we were all in shock like, no, we'd just like to have our shot and go. He then finally agreed to let us do our shot. I understand that there may have been a misunderstanding and she didn't realize that we were there first but the couple she sat before us were the only people left in the line. He introduced us to people around us, and tasted us on a couple beers (thankfully as I was about to order the completely wrong one for me).
