This is such a great place! Our server was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. Everything they serve is local...hence the name...and does not disappoint! There are many choices for burgers, and I was ready to order a "build your own", but I went with one of the specials, shrimp and grits. I was not disappointed! The shrimp were cooked perfectly, grits were creamy, and the sauce included onions, red and green peppers, and sausage. Every bite ended with a nice little kick of heat. I'm all for the locally sourced food and helping the community, but the lack of variety on the menu turned me off. The menu is burgers, salads and a few sides. That's it. We didn't realize it until after ordering drinks, so we stuck it out. The downside to it all, that has nothing to do with Locals, is that we'd had two burgers in the last two days. So having another burger was the last thing we wanted. However, we made it work. I got a black bean burger, made in house, without a bun/cheese/toppings and two sauces: one a peppercorn mustard and another was a sweet relish. I preferred the relish, but the peppercorn was good. I opted for a salad with balsamic, mixed greens loaded with other good stuff. All tasted fresh and yummy! Boyfriend opted for the special Mahi sandwich, but it was hard to eat because of the ridiculous amount of caramelized onions and sauces/juices that made the bottom bun soggy. They graciously gave him another one, but put it on a really small saucer that didn't help the situation. Overall, he made it work and enjoyed his sandwich. I can't believe today was the first time I've gone to Locals! This place is awesome -- definitely one of the most delicious burgers I've ever had. I decided on a lamb burger, with sautéed onions, Leyden cheese, a fried egg and garlic aioli on a French roll. They had a special side of creamed silver queen corn with basil, and EVERYTHING was stellar. It was messy as all get out, but totally worth it! I love their friendly, knowledgable service, the fact that you can see the chefs in the kitchen when you walk to the back to the bathroom, and the fact that it is a no charge byob. I still am holding back a star. But the food is delicious and you can petty much chose every ingredient of your meal. Yesterday I had the lamb burger, no bread, veggies on the side with a lovely stilton cheese. My aioli (mint) was on the side, but the taste/texture made it clear the main ingredient was Blue Plate. My meal was just the perfect amount - I left sated, not stuffed, but my plate was clean. The shrimp and grits get raves and I don't eat grits, so all I can offer is a visual, which a big fate Fail. It looks like a white soup or chowder with some gritty pink shrimp involved. In other words WAY too much gravy and too little color. Just a little sprinkle of fresh green onion or parsley would have helped. My lunch friends say they are good, but not the best. That loss of star is strictly the lack of a few niceties I believe belong in a place where I am shelling out $15 for my complete lunch experience. I do not like the plastic glasses for water, nor the plain, bland place settings. It is such a fun little place, laid out perfectly for a small gathering of interesting people dining on Bison and other exotic meats and well as local fish. We stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday just as they opened. We had the brunch special Cajun Eggs Benedict with Boudin and an order of eggs, bacon, smoked gouda grits, and Ciabatta toast. The Cajon Eggs Benedict was very good. Nice amount of spice without being too hot for breakfast. The gouda grits were very rich with a nice smoky flavor. Our order of eggs, ordered medium, came out closer to over easy. This seems to be a tough one for many restaurants for some reason. The flavor was still good from the organic eggs though. A nice touch is that coffee is served in very large cups. Once you get your cream and sugar right you don't have to worry about "warm ups" messing up the perfect cup. Their build your own burger menu looks very interesting, unfortunately we left town before having a chance to try it. read more

First thing's first Michelle (our server) was awesome! Now that we have addressed that, lets get to the food which was equally awesome. My wife and I decided to try something a little different so we strolled into Locals. I had the lamb burger with the Cajun cheese and various fixings. The lamb was lightly seasoned and surprisingly juicy. It was one of the best burgers I have had. My wife had the grass fed beef burger which was cooked to perfection. The dish was shrimp soup.....not bad for a soup but not a great soup. I really like the different burgers but they are nothing special other than the exotic meat selection. Excellent burgers & fries! The bison burger is a win! Fresh Focaccia bread & a variety of local cheeses & sauces pushes it over the top. Fries are fresh cut & are seasoned well! Ate lunch at Locals yesterday. Service was impeccable. Each of us chose a special. The shrimp and grits was a gorgeous presentation of shrimp, peppers, onions, in a buttery cream sauce layered over tasty grits. The Cobia sandwich was perfectly grilled and just plain delicious. Another fantastic meal today. Hubby got bison burger w Swiss cheese and bacon. I got elk(!) with pineapple (this is the only place I do that and it's amazing!) fenugreek cheese and garlic aioli. Locals was recommended by a coworker. I do not recommend Locals if you are looking for the same old same old. Go on down the road, don't waste your time. This place is outstanding! You will not find more Local and fresh food than you will get here. I ordered the blackened Mahi-Mahi Sandwich, which comes with one side. I was told that the Mahi-Mahi was not available, but that they had Cobia. Well, I'm a big fan of Cobia, and where else are you going to find Cobia on the menu? This sandwich was outstanding. It was smothered in sautéed onions and local cheese and lettuce. This was a hunk of a Cobia. Very fresh and tasty. For a side I chose the mixed vegetables. These vegetables must have been grown out back. They were so fresh and well prepared. The owners also work in the restaurant and are excellent hosts. I can't wait to bring my wife here to eat. read more

I found it rather unique and welcomed. I'm not a hippy or anything, but it was nice seeing local and grass fed stuff offered on the menu. Burger was really good and they put just the right amount of fries on your plate. My one suggestion is to ease up on the condiments like mustard. A little of it goes a long way while a lot makes a mess of the burger and overpowers it. Finding a parking spot is a nightmare, but that's not their fault. The day we were there, they had llama and kangaroo on the menu in addition to their regular items.
