Outstanding breakfast experience here. We ordered off the menu and tried several dishes within our party of four. Perfectly cooked over easy eggs, the steak medallions were perfectly cooked as well with great flavor. Everyone in my party enjoyed the food. The service was outstanding too. Our server was very attentive and explained the menu and elements of certain dishes. Classy and elegant ambience. Queen and well placed dishes and silverware. Absolutely incredible breakfast and just regular brew coffee hard to beat. We stay at this hotel regularly and always love the experience. I can't speak for the buffet offered but Eggs Benedict was superb. read more

Because of its reputation we chose the Trellis Room at the Battle House Hotel for Sunday brunch as a Christmas celebration with seven out-of-town relatives, Sunday December 29. The reservation was made November 22. When we arrived, the very sullen hostess acted like they didn't know we were coming, then set two round tables for six until we asked her to find a proper table setting. The dining room was not decorated at all for Christmas, in fact not decorated at all (horrible ambiance, not even flowers), the staff was untrained, their attitude uncaring, and the food not good. RSA should replace everyone involved with The Trellis Room. Stay away. read more

The ambiance was wonderful, the service above average. The food... lacking for what you pay, and for what you'd expect (in my opinion). Maybe I'm just uncultured, but there were some bold choices that just didn't work in my opinion. First, you start with an "interesting" complimentary bread and minced garlic chutney. The chef must be getting a sweet deal on fresh garlic because buddy there was an over abundance! Frankly, it was virtually inedible. When we quizzed the waiter as to whether or not it was popular you could see the pain in their eyes and we didn't press for an answer. My wife and I both had seafood entrees that were cooked well from a done-ness standpoint, but lacked flavor. Being from Mobile it's a little disappointing that this is a representation that people from outside the area visiting might experience. My hope is that the chef and management staff take an objective look at the menu and step it up a notch. read more

My husband and I had reservations for New Year's Eve. all streets leading up to the hotel were closed. So much for valet parking. When we finally walked a distance and arrived we were told the special was prime rib. The prime rib was totally raw I ordered chicken Parmesan and it was crispy and overcooked!! My cheese on top of chicken was like putty. We were served a butter knife to cut steak and chicken with!! The waitress was annoyed because I was out of tea and had to ask for more. Then she forgot. The couple behind us also returned their prime rib because it was raw. It was much better when it was a steak restaurant!!! Now it's just mediocre Italian!!! Food was average if that. The last time I went here was pre-covid and I would have rated it 5 stars. All three dishes my party ordered were delicious and the drinks were fantastic. However, I was a little let down by my most recent visit. I got the chicken parm which was fine, but a little bland. It was a huge portion though, so plenty to take home for leftovers. My fiancé got the whole red snapper. He thought it was really good but wouldn't recommend it unless you want to put in a lot of work. "The juice ain't worth the squeeze" he says () which is typical of this type of dish so no big deal. We can't remember what specialty cocktails we ordered last time but we know they weren't on the menu this time. Unfortunately we weren't as into the ones we chose tonight. The restaurant and lobby of the hotel are beautiful, especially at Christmas time, and the service is great, but something about tonight was lacking compared to our last experience. read more

This restaurant is located in the awesome historic hotel "The Battle House" in the heart of historic Mobile downtown. Trellis is in the same place since the 1800's. Beautiful building that has been renovated to its original high standards. The food is very good and it is a combination of old Alabama coastal menu with some "fusion" influence and some Italian too. Always well presented with the trade mark of great services. I recommend this place. The breakfast and brunch menus are delightful. read more

Love the Renaissance Battlehouse and try to stay there whenever I passing thru town. No room at the inn this trip but walked down from our hotel to enjoy a meal in The Trellis Room. Food here is amazing. Portions are huge so do consider sharing an entree. But the best part of the meal was our server. Ask for Rachel. Her energy is infectious and interaction with her makes the meal complete. Do not accept substitutions. She's the best! read more

I just can't say enough good things about this restaurant. First of all i called another restaurant for reservations for 12 people for my friends 50th birthday. They took a message and said they "may" call me back because after 8 people it was considered a banquet and i would have to sign a contract. So, i immediately called the Trellis room and they said no problem pick whatever time you want to come. When we arrived at our time i realized we had 2 extra people. They quickly accommodated us with no problem. Our waitress, Jennifer, was super sweet and SO efficient. We got our drinks and apps so quickly. Entrees came out super quick as well. And the food was AMAZING!!!! Having been a server and knowing the stresses of a big party and separate tickets I made sure to tip her well. We saw her the next day at breakfast and even though she was not our waitress she made sure to come over and greet us. It was a 5 star experience. We ate here on a Saturday morning after spending the night at the Battle House. They only offer brunch on Sundays but they do have many of the same items and a buffet on other days of the week. It was pretty good! Not gourmet or super fancy but pretty solid food and service was quick and easy. We got the brisket skillet (which is really delicious but I wanted more of the brisket itself) and an order of pancakes. I'd probably only order al a carte. We had a great meal here. It was easy since we were staying at the hotel and our food very good. It has a traditional Italian menu. I had the scallions with risotto and my husband had the filet medallions. Our daughter had the spaghetti. We all enjoyed our food. The only thing I don't recommend are the cannolis. read more

We went to the Trellis room for what we thought was brunch but on Sundays it looks like they only serve breakfast ending at 10:30am. There was no one else there which was a red flag. We opted for the buffet which was a mistake. There were limited options for the buffet. Pretty much nothing I couldn't have had or made at home: -fruit -cheese that looked like it had been sitting out for some time -overly creamy scrambled eggs (made from boxed eggs and milk) -grits -French toast (rock hard) -blueberry pancakes -bacon (one of the few good things) -biscuits and gravy -cereal The saving grace were the mimosas we had, which were not included with the buffet (FYI They do not have an option for bottomless mimosas). Mimosas and buffet for 2 cost us $55 and some change. This meal was worth maybe $20. One of the worst breakfast buffets we've been to. read more

Stayed at the beautiful Battle House Hotel and tried the Trellis. On a whim I tried the fabulous or fail "Gulf Coast Shrimp & Crab Omelet. Wow!!!! Totally fabulous knock your pants of huge shrimp stuffed into this tight size portion omelet with grilled onions, cube sausage and crab. Coffee is created just for your table with a hot carafe awaiting a refill. With our stay, we will be here again tomorrow!!! read more

The Staples: Eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, fresh fruit, juice, yogurt, cereal, etc. The Bonus: Omelet and pancake bar made right before your eyes. The Unexpected: Assorted cheeses and charcuterie meats. Pair all these with high quality ingredients, a beautiful setting, and superb service. The Trellis Room is the Restaurant found in the Battle House. I am suprised that nobody has made a review for it yet. The pricing here is one of the most expensive that i've seen in Mobile. Whether the food and service reflects this or not is unclear. I've had lunch and breakfast here which were okay. For some reason there is almost nobody ever at the hostess desk at the front. Where do I start? The Trellis Room is perfect! From the food to the service, everything was amazing every time I have visited. We started going for burger night because my burger was chosen to be served that month and it was delicious! The service is friendly and they always make sure that you have everything you need. Sorry, but I was not impressed, especially for the price tags. It was a "date" night so I did not choose the venue nor the food, his selections were spot-on for what I would have chosen. Pluses: The environment is lovely. It is quiet, relaxed, romantic and calming; The bread brought to the table was warm; Table service was satisfactory; Presentation was good. Negatives: The menu is uninspired and overpriced for the quality presented; The Hostess stand was not manned although we had reservations, it was a weekday and we were on time. It is irritating to be left standing; We were not offered cordials nor dessert. Instead, out check was presented as if our service staff needed to leave for something more interesting. My understanding is that they have a good brunch but I feel sure I would favor the Grand Hotel given a choice. There was nothing to set this place apart from others. One day I would like to find a place on The Pillars level in our area. Trellis Room is not on my return list. read more

I really enjoy eating here. I'm usually here for a conference, but the food is really good for hotel food. I enjoy the breakfast, but their main menu items are good as well. It's a nice elegant setting. I wouldn't walk in with jeans and a t-shirt usually, but you could if you wanted. The service is generally quick and pleasant, even when they're busy. This was unexpectedly the worst "best" meal I've had in Mobile. True to other reports, no one at the hostess desk. Dined with others who ordered soup and salads to come out with a filet entree. All of the dishes were cold. We ordered a bottle of champagne and the server served the first round and never came back to the table to serve more. We were up for a second chance and ordered another bottle of champagne when the restaurant was not even at all busy.....we didn't receive it for 20+ minutes and ended up canceling our order to have a night cap elsewhere. Very disappointed in both the food and the service. Would not recommend dining here. read more

We dined here as a group of three on Valentine's Day last night. When we arrived we waited 10 minutes for a hostess to arrive in order to confirm our reservation and sit us. After being seated it took 15 minutes for a bottle of champagne to arrive. We then received our meals, all at different times - and each one cold. The waitress never came back to refill our champagne flutes and we spend the entire night pouring our own champagne out of the bottle in the ice bucket. When we ordered our second bottle of champagne - it took so long to bring that we were ready for our check and our meal has been over for ten minutes and our table has been cleared. Also, there were four waitresses that night with only 4 tables with diners seated. 2 stars only because they have a reasonable wine list and pretty ambience. Go eat at Dumbwaiter or Chucks if you want to have a similar priced meal with better service and nice ambience. read more

A group of us ate at the Trellis Room tonight while in town on business, which was also a friend's birthday. It was convenient because we were also staying at the hotel. The experience wasn't fantastic though. It took 20 minutes for anyone to appear at our table for our drink order and quite a while to receive what we ordered. Three of us had to send our food back because it was undercooked. One sent hers back twice and ended up not eating at all. Food showed up at different times, leaving several people waiting while others' food was getting cold. Our waitress was polite enough but no one seemed overly concerned. The entire experience took 2 hours and 10 minutes. The restaurant is beautiful, but overall the experience wasn't. read more

What a great venue for a small gathering of 12 people. The location of our table made the gathering intimate and convient to the piano bar and rest rooms.We had the special group menus which allowed our guests to have a choice of Steak, Catch of the day, and Chicken. The soup of the day was a white bean with pork and greens,really good. The chef came to our table and you could tell he was proud of his work.
