This is a very decent restaurant where you find a host of Scottish fish and shellfish produce (as well as some meat and game dishes). I recently had a 3 course set meal for £15, where I started with their Bradan Rost kiln roasted salmon, then the pan fried gilthead bream with braised fennel and a a side of chips, and rounded off with apple crumble and creme anglaise. They were not stingy on the portions, which made the £15 even more worth while. I highly recommend their Bradon Rost pate, with a hint of lemon, topped on some oatcakes. The mackeral pate isn't half bad either, served with brioche and shallot marmalade, an excellent combination. Oh yes and one must try their soups, whatever they have at the time, go for it as it is always a delight. There is a lovely dessert list, of which I would definitely say to go for the sticky toffee pudding, as it is beautiful. There is a comprehensive wine list. I like their Riesling, Whitehaven from New Zealand, it is one of my favourite wines in general, and goes very well with the fish dishes. read more

Mom and I had lunch here today. I am a bit surprised to see 3,5 average rating - this place is good; a bit pricey for what it is, but acceptable. - lobster bisque - I think it was made out of roasted lobster. - roasted onion and cumin soup - light, creamy texture and vegan - lobster - not the best, and a price tag of £25 - catch of a day - forgot what fish was it, but it was incredible! Service was - meh. Constantly has to call the waitress - Lisa, for attention, as she never bothered to check in on us. My water glass never got a refill. My mom's lobster did not have a side of melted butter. And as she dropped the food she did not bother to ask us if we need anything for our meal. So food is good. Ate at the Covent Garden branch yesterday and took advantage of the 2-course £9.50 set menu deal - very good value but from what I have heard I was expecting a litlle bit more "WOW". Mussel starter was the best dish - lovely fresh meats and stemaed with ginger garlic and some pretty fiery red chilli, very warming and aromatic. The other starter we had was cornish sardine on toast and this was just slightly too fishy to be top quality fresh produce i'm afraid... Main wa sea bass on a bed of crshed potatoes with watercress pesto - the pesto was more like a dressing and there was only a few drops on the plate, the potatoes were a bit overseasoned and not at all crushed (!) but the fish was lovely. Other main was tilapia (replacement for the advertised plaice) with lemon butter sauce - the sauce was a bit too creamy and described by my companion as having a "boil in the bag" consistency" - spot on unfirtunately. The side veg was a bit pathetic - a big hunk of broccoli with a few carrot shards on a bed of wrinkly and miniscule peas?! Colour me meh. Desserts were needed as we were a bit peckish - rthe ice creamw as a highlight and the pear crumble was very good, the dark choc cheesecake seemed to be made fro milk choc though? This is a finely prtesented establishment and a very relaxing space with friendly service but I think the food needs to be a bit better - consider this a 2.5 PLUS review and I will let you know if it is any better when/if I go back. Pre set 2 course meal for 9.95GBP was a pretty good deal, if you like small meals. We tried a few dishes to make sure we covered the range of seafood available. Mackerel potted, 3 stars : smoked mackerel poached in its own fat. The glass jar is served chilled, so a layer of harden fat needs to be broken first. Mix it up, or take some of it out, the mackerel is still nice and moist. Gurnard Fillets, 4 stars : basically deep fried fish with a side of mayo sauce. Crispy and not overly oily. Probably the best dish of the meal. Smoked salmon fish cakes, 2 stars : this dish should be renamed potato fried patties with bits of salmon. It's served in an ocean of butter. I couldn't get through half of the first patty, it was just too fatty. Warm poached mackerel, 3 stars: the dish was also drowning in butter, the new potato were midway cooked. The fish was nice and tender. Needed a little piece of vegetable somewhere. Seasonal salad, 2 stars : greens with 2 cherry tomato and a handful of shredded carrots. This was a sad little salad. Chips, 3 stars : it's kinda hard to get chips wrong. It was crispy and average. Nothing fancy nor memorable. Overall, I was expecting more since this was suppose to be seafood from its own farm and sources. The setting was clean, open and friendly. read more

My experience here was enjoyable overall, but not necessarily memorable. Some of the first things that come to mind: Layout was very spacious with tables spread out so you're far from other diners. Portions were small. Oysters on the half shell were mediocre. Whitebait (think larger, dried anchovies) appetizer consisted of too much deep fried batter, not enough "fish", and portions were overall small. Our party ordered the seabass with Chinese greens, as well as the seafood selection. I was a bit underwhelmed by the seafood selection - the portion and "selection" of seafood just didn't meet my expectations. The seabass was just okay. The restroom is also seemingly a mile away - yes it's common for WCs in the UK to be a walk's distance underground from the restaurant, but I recall walking a bit further than normal at Loch Fyne...wondering when I'd finally get to the ladies room. Overall, a quiet and pleasant place to dine, however, the food doesn't stand out. I probably wouldn't come back here. read more

Wanting fish and needing to eat somewhere near our theatre led us to Loch Fyne where we had a delightful dinner. The fish was fresh and the scallops were delish. We also shared a plate of oysters, which were salty and plump. My 8-y/o niece was with us, and the children's menu had some nice selections. She loved the peas so much she had a second, huge helping! Being a big seafood lover we tend to end up having seafood often. Loch Fyne has never disappointed and they have a lovely daytime special on at the moment for under £10. The fish and seafood is always fresh, well prepared and a delight to eat. I would just prefer that every side dish is not an extra but part of the meal. They also don't mind if you spend hours sat there after lunch enjoying a coffee or 2. If you join their website you get one voucher for a 2 course meal at £9.95, the same as the daytime special. read more

I have always had good experiences at other Loch Fyne's, unfortunately it seems this one is not so great. I have been to this one a couple of times and while the meals have been ok they've never been outstanding and one time it was absolutely dreadful. Our worst experience involved mixed up dishes (the fish and sides we had ordered came in the wrong combinations) and the food was a not very warm. The potato dauphinois that I had was dry and looked very much as though it has been microwaved. Even when they're not too busy the service can be a bit dodgy. The complaint that I lodged did yield a £25 gift card, but I had been talking about a meal for 2, so that didn't quite cover a return visit. I'll be looking to see where the other Loch Fyne's are in London so I can try them rather than go back here. read more

My favourite branch of Loch Fyne (so far!) is in Oxford but I'm closer to the Covent Garden version and tend to go a couple of times a year for a treat. The concept is simple: provide carefully sourced and well prepared food, have it served by good staff, and provide a pleasant environment. At Loch Fyne these things all come together. The menu has a seafood emphasis but other options are available. It changes seasonally - check the website for the latest version. Everything I've tried from traditional fish and chips, to salmon rosti, to scallops has been delicious. The prices are in keeping with the quality. My only quibble is that simple sides like chips or mash are extra where at other places you might get a choice in an all inclusive price. But that's really a minor quibble as the quality really is very good. The wine list has something for every budget and taste - the website has all the details and the full list. Also check the website for special offers - the restaurants sometimes offer special menus if eating before 7 - great for lunch or pre-theatre. read more

Rats/ Mice while eating... GROSS I have never written a review before, but I thought I should make my experience known to others so they don't experience what myself an my family did on 29th of October 2015 I have eaten in many restaurants in London on a regular basis an this was my first experience on sharing the seating area with large Mice/Rats, we left immediately after paying our bill an brought it to the managers attention an his reply was "well it is London" I was horrified by my experience an I was the only one who had oysters from the menu an I suffered with what I believe to be food poisoning, this may not be connected but considering my reason for adding this post I think not. We ate here because it was one of the few places open on a quiet on a Sunday evening in Covent garden just after the New Years. I'm glad I did, It fit the bill perfectly. Loch Fyne is just what you expect it to be. It's a clean (and large) outpost of a seemingly reliable chain offering updated Scottish seafood. Their fish and chips are a great way to eat haddock, the oysters were fresh and well priced, and the grilled prawns are delightful. The wine list fits the food like a glove with a good selection of reasonably priced crisp whites (mostly French, which is OK by me). The best touch of all was the thick and luscious balsamic vinegar they served with the salads (hint: goes great on fries or chips or frites or whatever you call them). read more

I am writing this review as I am having dinner here. The service is god awful. Very very bad. The waiter simply disappeared after getting order. I have to split the water I have with the person I am having dinner with. Asking for ketchup for the burger took yet another 5 min after the food came. The manager did apologize when I complained but the dinner experience was already ruined. Update - soon after I posted this review while still waiting for mussels in the restaurant, the same waiter came and "apologize'. Instead of a simple apology, he went on and on and told me all these things that he did (bringing water without me asking, etc.) without me asking. He was basically defending himself instead of owning up his mistakes. I did not want to engage the conversation but then he said "we have CCTV in the restaurant and we can review what happened if you want", which was quite offensive (implying I was making things up). I had to tell him that I wasn't comfortable with this conversation and had to ask him to walk away. I talked to the manager again about what the waiter said and he was shocked as well. I gave this restaurant 2 stars before and now down to 1 star. read more

Best Fish restaurant chain in Britain, a must for all seafood lovers!!

Walked out of Beaconsfield after nearly 2 1/2 hours with main course still not served. despite booking for Fathers Day we waited 20 mins for a table,anothe 20 mins before being given menus,another 1/2 hour for starters then 1 hour without any sign of our main course. Walked out in despair with a special day ruined and noone really seemed to care! read more

Food quite good but service pretty dire.The staff work hard but there is a lack of organization which leads to long waits and slip shod service.I was not offered the special seasonal menu,and no one seemed to care that I had not had time for coffee before having to leave for a theatre "curtain up" despite having booked a time which should have been ample. read more

Arrived at 6.50 had to watch Charlie abd chocolate factory at 7.30pm. Whilst other restaurants at the area said it was too tight Loch Fyne quickly seated me at the bar and had my freshly cooked salmon fish cakes with delicious vegetables out to me in no time. Great service, great food. Last time I was here I tried the take away fish n chips special for just 7 pounds too. Bargain prices for gourmet quality :-) I highly recommend! read more

Not great..the salmon fish cake was mostly mashed potatoes with a few fish flakes. The linguine clams were rather dry. There are better fish restaurants. The fixed price menu may not be the way to go here, but there is a variety to choose from. We will try other places. And, if interested, no beers on tap. read more

A good place for lunch with friends who like fish, there are meat options as well. Great offer of two courses for £10 at the moment, very good value. The main menu is wide ranging and well-priced for this part of London. Even if they think that moules marinieres has cream in it, the mussels as a main course were good, small, plump and fresh for £10. Friends had fish and chips, the fish was very good and the chips OK. Excellent apple crumble! Decent Prosecco at £19 a bottle, tap water brought without drama and top-ups offered. Good welcome and decent friendly service. Rather a lot of backgound noise, like a lot of chain restaurants. (I often eat out with a friend with impaired hearing and am becoming aware of this now). Ground floor access toilet.
