The Original Roll, the California Roll, Sweet Potato Fries, and Lobster Chowder.
    Aye K.

Came here to see where all of the London hipsters hang :P Just kidding, but this cute little restaurant just on the outskirts of Chinatown definitely gives off that hipster vibe. The menu consists of lobster rolls, beef brisket rolls, lobster salads, sweet potato fries, and lobster chowder. You order at the counter, and they bring the food out to you. First things first, the lobster rolls are STUFFED with lobster. I couldn't believe it considering most places I've tried usually skimp on the lobster. I tried two of the three different rolls. The Original - The flavor of this one was incredible! I liked this roll because you could still taste the natural sweetness of the lobster while the light seasoning/sauce brought out the flavor more. My only wish was that there was a bit more butter on the roll. The California - This roll contains lettuce and avocado along with the lobster. The avocado was creamy and a nice addition. However, I prefer the original roll because I think the lobster flavor was overpowered a bit at times in this roll. Lobster Chowder - This was delicious!!! Usually when I order chowder, it's filled with potatoes and rarely any meat. This was completely the opposite - sooo much lobster. Very creamy and flavorful. Sweet Potato Fries - These tasted good, but nothing special. Good side dish to the lobster! Overall, I wish I could eat this place all the time!! For the price, it's quite a deal for the lobster rolls especially with the amount of lobster meat they put. Put this on your London bucket list of places to try(:

Perfectly toasted, hot, buttery buns with refreshingly simple and delicate lobster, scallion bits, and mayo. No queue. 10 pounds. My last dinner in London was a success that left me wanting to come back. The atmosphere was very chill and cozy amid of crazy Chinatown (? close to Chinatown?). Free wifi. Friendly service. What more can you ask for on your last night in the UK while on a budget? I would definitely come back had I been a local.

I stumbled across this place on my way to meet my friends to get my first ever tattoo a couple blocks away... So, I had to come back after getting my tattoo! My friends and I all went, but only a couple of us hadn't eaten dinner yet. I'm not sure if this place is like the fast food version of Burger & Lobster, but it kind of seemed like that. Anyways, I ordered one of their lobster rolls because lobster rolls are awesome and that's what had caught my eye in the first place. It came out pretty quickly and it was delicious! I got the original lobster roll and it came out with a good amount of lobster inside. The lobster was cooked pretty well and the roll was really good, too! My friend got a lobster roll, too and she loved it just as much. My other friend got the lobster chowder and she said it was really good, so this place was all around awesome! This place isn't as high quality as Burger & Lobster, but it's definitely still really good and I would go here a lot more often since it's much more casual and cheaper.

My American heart was missing home and so I headed to Smack Lobster Roll. The price of the lobster roll seemed a little pricey, even for London standards, and was pretty standard roll. The bread seemed slightly stale (not freshly toasted like other reviews I had read) and was overall unimpressive. My friend got the samuri roll and it was nearly double the size of the classic, so if you want more for your money go for the samuri!

The Samurai roll (middle) is twice the size of the original roll.

(Lobster) Rolling out of London. Should have gotten the hint that it was very empty on a Friday night dinner time. This is my last stop before leaving this beautiful city. I'm quite disappointed with the lobster roll for £19 for a lobster roll and fries. The lobster roll was really lacking lobster meat. We looked at it and thought it was filled with baby shrimps. The only part that was fulfilling was the cajun fries. The flavor was quite bland and tasteless. I'm much rather pay the same price for Burger and Lobster to get a full grilled lobster. Tip: Get the Samurai roll, it is twice the size of the original lobster roll.

Came here with a friend last night because we didn't feel like lining up for or paying Burger & Lobster prices. Seating is pretty much all communal/bar-stool type, with most patrons being in and out fairly quickly. The lobster rolls themselves take anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes to come out after being ordered. Coming from Boston, a "plain jane" lobster roll wasn't cutting it for me for 14 quid, so I ordered the Seven Samurai Roll. Somewhere along the way, either someone else took my order or they forgot about it, because 3 groups got their food before I went to hunt mine down. Initially they asked to see my receipt, which was a little infuriating as I was already hungry, and my wallet was chocked full of receipts organized in no particular order. However, after struggling for a bit they told me it was alright. Tip for restaurant owners: never ask a hungry patron to find his receipt after you forgot his food - that would cost you a star in my books. The roll came out shortly after, with a lobster chowder as an apology - I greatly appreciated this, and so Smack Lobster doesn't lose a star. In terms of taste, it was "alright". The lobster was fairly generous, but for the price I'm paying I would hope so. There was a little too much seasoning on top, which made both my friend and I cough a bit when trying to take our first bite. Maybe consider putting the seasoning inside rather than as a garnish? Verdict: Relatively good lobster, not as good value for money compared to east coast USA. Yay: Better than what I expected, didn't have to wait long for a table on a Saturday night at 7pm Nay: Lost my food Meh: The price isn't anything to complain about, nor is it anything amazing

With the increasing influence of the Occupy movement, is lobster a symbol of bourgeois decadence and over consumption? The guys who started Burger & Lobster are trying to prove that lobster can be accessible to everyone - £20 for a whole lobster, anyone? Smack Lobster is the little brother of B&L. Offering 5 lobster rolls, lobster chowder and lobster salad, all for £10 or under, this is the place to get your lobster fix if funds are low. I tried the classic and it was delicious. A pocket of crispy bread, generous chunks of lobster in a classic mayo I'll be back to try the other varieties

10 pounds lobster roll! YUM. So worth it. I had no queues, and there was some shared seating to the corner as well as some counters to enjoy your food. The menu is pretty simple - lobster roll or lobster on salad. There's lots of bottled drink choices. Your food arrives quickly, you devour it quickly (it's so good), and you leave much happier than when you came in. Great value - yummy lobster!

So much lobster!!! Oh my! Yes at £10 pounds it's pricey for a salad, but damnnnnn that lobster! For £10 you can have the lobster roll, with a few different options for toppings or you can go for the salad with avocado! Obvs for me when avocado is involved, I'm all over the salad! The salad was delicious, super healthy with a really nice dressing. Can't recommend this place enough.

Since I'm just visiting the area, I don't know how long this had been here but it's new enough to be new to me. Smack is just a small place, with just a but of space to sit in, but a lot of their aim is clearly takeaway. What do they have? Lobster rolls and lobster salad. They have a few varieties of both the salad and sandwich and I decided to start with the Classic lobster tool as well as a very nice bottle of cloudy lemonade. The sandwich arrived quickly. The roll was warm, perfectly buttery, and a bit toasted. The lobster was chilled, with a good amount of sauce drizzle and nice large pieces. I'll admit those from New England in the States would be underwhelmed but I was impressed. At £10 for the sandwich it wasn't the cheapest option I had, but lobster is always on the spendy side. It's a nice little indulgence though and feels like a good treat lunch while in Soho or a good snack on a night out.

Good place for lobster to take away. They do lobster rolls but if you're on a budget try the lobster chowder. I was a bit afraid the portion wasn't going to be enough but it's actually quite filling. And tasty! Soup is £5 and a roll £10. Some seats and tables inside.

A beef option or a lobster option - sound familiar? It probably should given Burger and Lobster is literally a few steps down the street, but Smack Lobster Roll is a decent alternative should things get crazy at B&L. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Smack Lobster Roll is a comfortable and quaint little shop, and the simple menu and friendly servers will have you all setup in no time. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? The brisket rolls at Smack Lobster Roll run eight pounds and the lobster rolls twelve pounds, both of which are pretty solid deals given the size of these rolls and the premium that lobster can command these days. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? I opted for the 'Classic' Brisket Roll, which was good although not what I would define as out of this world. The quantity of pickles and onions was a bit overpowering, and while I absolutely loved the crispy sliced roll, the flavor of the brisket fell a tad bit short although I could probably chalk that up to having been spoiled by Texas brisket the past four years. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? I simply can't say that I would given the close proximity to Burger and Lobster. It's a good alternative, but not as good as the incumbnet. No Star Granted.

This place was amazing. The staff were very friendly and we are on a holiday here from Southern California. We had traveled all over the city just go get lobster rolls. My wife and I loved the decor and the open kitchen concept. We walked to the counter and I ordered one original lobster roll with lemon mayo and chives and my wife ordered the California which has lettuce and tomato on top. We also ordered a cup of lobster chowder as it was a cool day. First things first....the lobster chowder was to die for nice and bold flavor as a chowder should have. Not too watery wonderful consistency and the chunks of lobster were perfectly suited. Then we move to the lobster rolls. My wife took the first bite of hers and the nice crunch of the toast could be heard as she said...mmmmm which is always a good sign. I then took a bite of mine. It was everything I had expected and more. The meat was plentiful and buttery rich flavor that you would expect. The toast was nice and crispy and the mayo was not over bearing and with a slight hint of lemon was the perfect addition. I love chives and that was also perfect. Both lobster rolls and a can of coke and the chowder was around 30 pounds. Well worth it in my opinion. We will be back next time we visit.

I had…read moreread about this restaurant in some top 10 lists for foodies visiting London and was dying to check it out. First, it's not in the busy part of London where you would expect a restaurant of this caliber to be but rather it is in a very blue-collar neighborhood on the south side of London. It is a VERY cozy place with only seven tables but that is how they keep the quality and experience so great. The decor is as if you are on an old fishing ship. Reservations are highly recommended but we got there right when they opened (7pm) and thankfully they let us have a table. After being seated the hostess showed us the days specials and they ranged from fantastic scallops to lobster with every choice as good as the last. My wife and I chose the Chef's Choice 8 course dinner. The dinner comprised of a delicious sardine sandwich followed by a fillet of night perch which was then followed by lobster that melted in your mouth. Then we had a pallet cleanser of a light peach sorbet with a shot of vodka poured over it. The meal resumed with a grilled piece of pork belly (I got the "meat" choice) while my wife had a grilled hallibut (she got the "fish" choice). The next course was a warmed cheese (I believe it was gruyere) in pastry accompanied by a small mixed green salad with aged balsamic. The dessert courses were a delicious crepe with creme bruille filling and the end course was a pear puree along with a chocolate pudding with a hint of mint. We loved this place even though the name sort of threw us off at first. When you hear "The Lobster Pot" I imagine a bunch of seniors getting off a day-tour bus to a casino at a truck stop or something but this experience was far from what I first imagined. I would highly recommend spending some of your tourist dollars here at this restaurant.
