Randall & Aubin is one of those places I hope never goes away. The oysters are delicious, and the French-leaning menu is exactly what it advertises itself to be. Really good food done well. It's a beautiful space in that classic Soho way. It's loud. It's packed. And feels like you need to move fast if there's a special you want before someone else orders it. But that's part of the experience. The room is raucous, busy, and full of energy. Once you get past the hustle and bustle, the food really delivers. Fantastic oysters, solid cooking, and a lively atmosphere that feels genuine rather than forced. It knows what it is and leans into it. It's a good place. A really good place. read more

So happy I stumbled upon this place as I was exploring Soho! If you're in the area craving seafood, Randall & Aubin is a must! Like any typical tourist, I was on the hunt for classic fish & chips while I was visiting London. The restaurant is a little small so I'd recommend a reservation. The food was amazing!! Great location and small - repeat small space. We were visiting during Christmas and it had festive decorations. We got the seafood tower and I am not sure that I would go that again. Lots of shrimp and whelk and for me a little goes a long way. Since the seating is tight, I would be cautious where they try to seat you because they have chairs at locations that are not suitable for dining. read more

Solid seafood in a nice atmosphere in a great location. We had a whole crab, pink prawns, and a plate of an assortment of seafood. All was fresh and tasty. I particularly enjoyed my pink prawns, which were succulent. Service was reasonably prompt and helpful. We went on a Saturday night without reservation and waited about 40mins, but once we sat down, things came out promptly. Atmosphere was casual and hip. Delicious and cozy spot in Soho. Excellent service, the food was beyond good, from the bread our main course. The onion soup was very tasty and not salty at all (many places over season it with salt because can't get a good flavor with herbs and condiments and ends up being just a salt soup!). Same with the clam chowder who happened to be extremely delicious and not super fishy! Love at first sight! First time I went to Randall & Aubin last week by myself and I couldn't believe how great this restaurant is! The manager at the door is very welcoming and, definitely knows what he is doing as guests were drinking his words as he was dealing with huge demand of diners. I thought this old fashioned way of dealing with guests are no longer exist, obviously I was wrong. The servers are all lovely, working here for many-many years ( 1 of them for 22 years),they know the place in & out . It's already gives you an indication that it's a great place. We've been there a few times before and always loved their seafood. This time we ordered Calamari Frites, R&A Crab Cakes, Linguine Vongole and Tuna Nicoise. Calamai Frites were simply divine! Very meaty calmari was perfectly fried and very tasty. Unfortunately the crab cakes were way too salty. Linguine was cooked al dente but a bit on the salty side. Tuna was very fresh and cooked pink as requested and the salad was fresh; however there was no sign of potatoes which were listed on the menu. The service was very friendly and polite, but sometimes gets dippy. We didn't receive a dressing for the salad and got the wrong bill. Still we love this place and we will ask them not to put too much salt next time. read more

Last night a lobster saved my life, last night a lobster saved my life with a sooooong... Okay, it wasn't singing, it was perfectly cooked and sliced in half on my plate. But it was delicious and it made for the most perfect dinner. Along with scallops with capers and fresh lime and a dressed crab this was a dinner date to remember. I love The Little Mermaid, I love Flounder and Sebastian - but seriously, when they taste this good I'd be first in line to see the plopped in the hot pot. Snuggled in the heart of Soho, opposite Cox, Cake and Kink, Randall & Aubin is something of a legend with a huge local following. There are beautiful gays serving and beautiful gays flowing out the door as well as seafood fans and some suit types. They have great window seats that are perfect for people watching and a great wine list, although it was missing a Chablis. This was a date spot for me, and it was pretty amazing. We ordered three main courses and one starter between two of us and while away a spring evening over a lovely bottle of plonk. When you are here expect to be pushed and shoved a bit, expect to pay over the odds but love it. This is London. read more

Love love love the oysters here!! You can taste the ocean when you slurp them down. We got the large mixed oysters (£16) and split it between 4 people. It was enough for everyone and we got to try a couple of French/England/Ireland oysters. Yummmm :D This place is known for the seafood so I would recommend going for the seafood entrees. If you're a girl with a small appetite like me or not super hungry, I would recommend sharing the entree with a friend. Entrees are around £20 so it can get kind of pricy if you order wine on top of that. We got the grilled sea bass. The fish was fresh and I liked the potatoes with curry sauce a lot - really unique. In the end we were really full but still ordered creme brûlée. It was on fire!! That was really cool but the actual taste wasn't so special (I've had better). There is usually a long line so come early. Not good for groups more than four people. The music is really loud so don't bring your children here. Overall, loved my experience here!! read more

Randall and Aubin is responsible for providing me with one of the funniest meals I have ever had. Situated in the middle of Soho we knew Randall and Aubin would be aiming to pull in the pink pound a little but in all seriousness I think this place out-gays Graham Norton dancing to the Scissor Sisters in Heaven Nightclub. When our waiter arrived to show us to our table it was impossible not to notice how ripped his mussels were. I say impossible because he was wearing a shirt at least two sized too small for him and none of the top buttons were done up. We walked past the giant disco ball which hangs in the middle of the room and climbed up on stools to reach our white marble table. It was at this point that the music kicked in and Kylie came on to serenade us with pop classics such as 'I should be so lucky' and 'Spinning Around'. It was hysterical and completely unlike any other restaurant I'd ever been to. I loved it! To eat I ordered the rotisserie chicken and my boyfriend the lobster. Although they were both very tasty, we did find them slightly over cooked and a little chewy. However, I would forgive Randall and Aubin anything for all the entertainment it gave us. They have great selection of oysters and champagne (I suggest R&A's own to go with oysters), though they also serve amazing meats....rump stake with creamy peppercorn sauce is my favourite. Super friendly staff and NY decor with open plan kitchen make you always feel very welcomed there. It's one of those place where you can easily go on your own. A "simple" but delicious menu will always hit the spot. And don't forget to check chefs' specials once you are there. The other day I had a skate wing for the first time...IT WAS AMAZING!!! Oh yes. Oh yes. My latest favourite. Reason for four stars - it's very pricey. I can get same selection of seafood platter in Lock Fyne for cheaper...but I guess I won't get the atmosphere! Bar stools and tables, location (neatly tucked in Brewer St) - create an amazing hip place where you can have a date, a catch up with friends or even have something by yourself if you're in a hurry and happen to be in the area! My friend and I (both big fans of wine) were seated quite promptly for a Thursday night. - in about 15 minutes - we had wine while waiting. Randall & Aubin definitely has a good selection of wines (crispy Japanese and sweet-ish Australian - as we had a fair bit of those, I don't remember the names). It was warm that evening and they left the windows opened - it was absolutely lovely. Good music - but at a reasonable volume - I didn't have to shout to be heard. Seafood platter was enough for us both. And I loved the snails - probably the first time I had those without usual garlic and butter! Desserts - sadly, I can't have dairy so couldn't have something sophisticated, but my almond & rasberry tart was nice. I am definitely goin back there again. read more

One of the most unique dining experiences you'll get in London! The location of the restaurant is right on the adult strip of Brewer Street but it's worth braving the glaring neon lights and hustlers on the street corner to take a look at this establishment. Its 2 main strengths are an extensive fresh seafood menu and a rotisserie. In the summer, when they open the doors and windows and the music spills out onto the pavement, you can also get the wonderful smell coming from the chickens on the spits, slowly barbecuing and caramelising. There is also a very tempting array of fresh seafood on ice by the window to gaze at and salivate. I've enjoyed different styles of meal, all yummy. A tower of fresh fruits de mer served on crushed ice definitely makes it look, feel and taste like a celebration. Or a gorgeous, moist and tender rotisserie chicken for a quick meal. So, make sure that there isn't a Google Streetview car passing to take a picture of you in this dodgy part of Soho and head here for a slap up meal. read more

Meet, Pickup, Take away - not talking about the food!!! Friday night on the town - my boyf, my best friend Deb's and a delightful 90minute wait in a cue to get in. But abso-damn-lutly worth it. I love going to Randal & Aubin. The atmosphere, disco music blasting and the sexy waiters make this a fun evening. Boy are they sexy!!! They have a curbside waiter (Brazilian ta ta) who will take your beverage order, buckets your bottle inside and returns on a timely basis to keep your glass full. So in ninety minutes you can guess how many trips he made. By the time we got to the door we had befriended the couple next to us and had them join us for dinner. Daniel & Chris actually left us at 11:30 the next day after 2 nightclubs and a marathon chat in our living room. (That story another time) The waiters are up for a laugh. We all put a pound on the table and said the first to get a kiss from the hunk Brazilian waiter wins. The waiter caught on and taunted and tempted us all night long. A very good laugh! The food is great - 2 of us had the half lobster and wished for a whole, I had Calamari and thought it was the best I had had in London. Mmmm.... Thick crunchy, flaky coating. Deb's had the fish soup and was slightly disappointed it was cold but not enough to complain. So all in all, we had a very good night. Oh so trendy. You should eat here. The vibe is great. Lots of energy from the staff and the diners. Everyone is super nice. Even though it's crowded and you might have to wait 45+ minutes on a Friday night, you'll feel taken care of the entire time. Order some wine and make a friend. All our food was delicious. While they don't have many vegetarian options (not that I'd expect them to in a seafood restaurant), they did have some great egg dishes and veggie sides. I made a meal from that and didn't feel like I missed out on a thing without having lobster. My dining companions had lamb and pork dishes. The pork was reportedly a little fatty for their liking, but yummy nonetheless. I highly recommend a stop here for dinner before heading out around Soho. Drawn by the interior/exterior charm and my love of seafood.....I visited twice. Both times terrible terrible awful awful music. Too loud and too much like a 90's club. However, both times lovely attentive and friendly staff. The 'fruit de mer' is a MASSIVE let down. For a 'seafood' restaurant to put out Tasteless, overcooked and mushy Langoustines is unbelievable. The prawns were a disgrace. But what surprised me the most was that they had the front to put pre-cooked, pre- prepared (probably frozen) mussells. NO excuse for this...... Dont bother wasting vast amounts of money here. Its a shame considering the chef (doubt he's ever there) and the wonderful building. read more

I had wanted to give Randall & Aubin a visit for as long as my tired brain can remember. Countless reviews in restaurant guides had enforced a strong image of quality in my head a long time before I tested it for myself. And you know... gosh darn it they are right. The atmosphere upon entering was very buzzy, to the point that is was hard to gauge whether we would be able to grab a table without reserving. I guess that is a little ploy on Randall & Aubin's behalf though - seat as many people as possible in front of the impressively large windows to purport the image of an uber-popular Soho eatery. When I was presented with the menu, it really did take me a while to get to grips with it - which I assure you was not a bad thing! The delights on offer are definitely weighted toward swimming creatures, but do not by any means exclude the animals that stand around in fields and barns. I always enjoy having a tough time deciding what to have from a menu - it gives me an excuse to return to the restaurant if I like it! My friend that I was there with suggested that the fish and chips was a solid option, and having been deprived by the City of Angels for numerous months, I went for the British institution. We also ordered a started to share from the special board - tempura prawns with sweet chili sauce. When the prawns arrived, I was eager to try, however, the batter on the prawns was far more goujon than tempura and the sweet chili sauce seemed like it came from Lidl. However, all was saved when the F&C's arrived. Tasty fish and amazing sweet mushy peas were a treat. However, the chips were the sort you could see alongside any meal from Wetherspoons and the fish was the runt of the litter. SO. All in all I enjoyed my trip to Randall & Aubin and would return. But I would love the next meal to match the style and atmosphere of the place. That really would be a "Woohoo 5 star affair". read more

We adored this little gem we stumbled into as we wandered around London sans direction. After a very busy day seeing the sights, we ditched our maps and wandered Soho. Drawn to the busy chattering crown here at 5:00 on a Saturday, we were compelled to be a part of the scene. We ordered a few bites and several glasses of wine - happy as clams in the small, energetic atmosphere. The Thai salmon cakes were delicious and the house red hit the spot. I hate to give one star for anything. But my experience at Randell and Aubin was nothing short of horrifying. Granted I had only been in London for a week from Los Angeles and was not up to speed on the lack luster service one may expect when eating out, this still has to rate as the WORST service I've received in London. The restaurant itself was cute inside and seemed to have a lot of character. My boyfriend and I were seated at a communal style high top bar table with very little room to breathe. My better half went off the the restroom and the waitress came over to take our drink order. I asked for sparkling water and in response she mimed something. It was really loud and she was speaking in-audibly so I asked her to repeat herself. Again she stuck her two hands in front of her, one at her chest and her other at her stomach and mouthed something. I said, I'm sorry, I can't hear you, and she screamed, "BOTTLE OR GLASS?" Sheesh, sorry lady! Try speaking in a tone that can be heard the first time around. Now, I realize that us californians have "radical" diets, but since I'd been enjoying the un-healthy fair that the city has to offer, I decided I needed to start eating well. Which to me is grilled meat and veggies. Not asking too much right? Wrong. Upon scouring the menu, none of the mains seemed to fit the healthy type of meal. My partner wasn't hungry so was only having a liquid lunch. I decided to order two side dishes of vegetables in place of a main dish. The waitress barked back at me that they were busy and would not only serve side dishes. Funny, I thought, since my side dishes would be more expensive than a main. Not to mention there were many open seats in the restaurant. I quickly just said I'd have the roast chicken with no sides. I went to the bathroom tand when I came back and there was a large group of people standing right behind where my chair was. Instead of being rude and pushing past them to take my old seat, I took the empty seat next to my boyfriend. Another waiter came up to me and said, "You can't sit there if we have another table come in!" I told him I'd happily move if they needed me to, but I was sitting there to give the group on the other side some space. The waiter promptly went over to the group and told them to make room! The guy that was standing was offended because no one had asked him to move in the first place and this guy was barking at him. I tried to be apologetic and not look like I was ratting him out, but to no avail. The food finally came and what I thought would simply be some roast chicken was a roast chicken alright, COVERED in GRAVY. There was NO mention of gravy on the menu. At this point, I lost my composure and for the first time in my life, cried in a restaurant. I don't cry in public period but these people put me over the edge. I couldn't even tell you whether the gravy soaked chicken was good because I was so upset about the rude service I had received in this supposedly "nice" restaurant. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I will absolutely never be going back there. Regardless of how good a places' food is, if they treat their customers like s*** its not worth it. There are too many good restaurants in London to be subjected to that. read more

By far our favorite meal in London! Known for their seafood, I had the king scallops with braised broccoli fennel puree and parmentier potatoes. I felt like I wanted to chew slower just so I can savor the flavors for as long as I could! My boyfriend had the whole dressed crab, veggies and potato salad, which he loved as well! We paired our meals with a bottle of sauvignon blanc and it was heavenly. We would have like to try their seafood platter but they were out by the time we sat down. High tables and chairs and the space is somewhat small as we had a group of people just hanging out right behind us making it hard for our waiter to get to us but the service was excellent and the prices were reasonable. I was looking for a trendy restaurant in the SOHO area with good food and not too expensive in terms of prices and this place seems to be receiving the right number of stars and ££ sign so i gave it ago. No reservations, as expected, but also not much room for you to stand inside. It was cold outside :( We arrived on a Friday night at 6:30pm and waited for about 30m before we were seated. The place wasn't too big and the music was LOUD. So loud that you can barely hear yourself think let alone have a conversation. Service was fantastic - no complaints. Food was mediocre. We tried - Bellini (~£9): tiny champagne glass made with dry dry prosseco. No good. - Oysters: sticks to the shell and not very fresh - Queen Scallop: I was excited about capers but the capers were super tiny and the scallops weren't too flavorful (~£8) - Sole (~£19): deep fried, kinda like fish and chips without the chips but with potatoes. The fish was okay but i mean if you deep fry fish it's hard to go wrong. The potatoes were really good and the string beans are okay. - steak frite: the server warned us that the steak was gonna be super tiny. Albeit tasty, it was not very satisfying - lemon tart (~£8): too tangy Honestly, the food is mediocre, but the entire experience is marred by the loud music. R&A has been a favourite of mine for years - there is no restaurant that compares, not even close. And I'm not just talking about the food (which is strangely only part of its beauty, but if you're curious: they do really great seafood including excellent moules marinière/provencale, smoked salmon topped with blinis and caviar and a superb salad of scallops, papaya and mango; the frites are my chip heaven - skinny but not too crispy; and the bread, almost worth the trip alone, can be three-times enjoyed - dipped in oily olive juice, smeared with butter (where oh where is this butter from?) or dunked in the moules soup)... The ambiance is camp brasserie disco dinner party. When it's busy (most nights), prepare to have to shout over your food and wait in a crowded queue to be seated (no reservations) - there's also no bar but the staff is happy to bring you wine from a varied and well-priced list. Loved the food, the atmosphere and the service. Came here with a baby. Staff were all so friendly and played with our baby, he was loving it! The music got a little loud as the night went on. Probably not the best place to have taken our 10 month old but we were in London just visiting so didn't really have a choice. The food was for the most part great. The seafood was very fresh, which is something I rarely say in the UK. The only complaint I had was that my halibut was a little overcooked and tasted hard. But everything else was delicious! I stumbled upon this place while walking around Soho trying to find a decent, not too touristy, or overpriced restaurant for dinner. The place is hip and reminded me of the many cool restaurants in NYC Soho. My waiter was very helpful with the menu and I ended up having the two evening specials for my app and my entree. The softshell crab appetizer was a good size and it came on top of a bed of lentils with mango salsa which was a nice touch to cut the grease from the fried crab. For my entree I had the sea bream which was also quite tasty. Overall, I was happy with my food and I cleaned my plates. My only complaint was that the music was way too loud and I felt like it was more appropriate for a lounge. read more
