I was born with dogs and cats in my family. Quite actually, have owned pets all my life in some capacity. This means at 41 years old I've had 41 years worth of different vets. As long as I live here, I'll never go elsewhere. Dr. Martin and staff treat your pet like their own and if you're the pet owner reading this we think you are, your pets ARE your kids and you'd take a bullet or shell out thousands to save their lives. I feel better knowing our 2 little girls (cat and dog) have Dr. Martin in their corner. I really believe they do as well. Such a good experience with this team :) I was greeted with lots of love from the staff and they even took him to the back to say hello to all the others too! I know Kilo felt very spoiled and loved! This was my first visit to Loch Haven as I am a new Kitty Mom and wanted to establish a relationship with a good Veterinarian team and have my questions answered regarding keeping my cat healthy. We loved the team and Dr. Berger! As others have stated, the waiting room has a separate entrance for cats and the treatment room had the cubby box my cat immediately jumped into while waiting :) Dr Berger and the Technician got down on the floor with Kitty Jackie to make her feel comfortable while examining her. All my questions were answered. I definitely recommend. My only negative feedback is that the Front Desk Receptionist was a bit snippy with me and my son telling us that only one person should come in with their animal, yet I saw other couples taking their dogs out of the building together. Didn't understand what I was saying till I used the word "period" He said he didn't know what a "menze" is. Then later mocked me and said "maybe it's her menze" Concerns me for someone in the medical world. Even though the word "heat" is more routinely used for canines you would think he has heard the word menses before. Secondly I asked him 3 times to have the receptionist call and get records from her previous vet and in the end he said "ok cool. Let me know when you get her records..." I have been with lock heaven vet for over 10 years . In The beginning, I was very happy there. The staff was professional, polite, and very friendly to my pets and to myself. Over the last 10 years the service has gone way down. I don't think the staff that work there are very happy people. You can tell from the atmosphere when you go in there. The owner never ever smiles, I mean his has his favorites there , but everyone else doesn't get the time of day . The staff are miserable there . I adore the staff at Loch Haven Veterinary Hospital. I left my vet of 10 yrs and began going to Loch Haven for more personalized care for my aging kitty. Let me tell you, I walked in the door and immediately noticed the difference. There are separate entryways for cats and dogs, and the lobby has pheromone diffusers plugged into the walls to help keep kitties calm. It actually feels more like a spa than a veterinary office. The examination area even has a "kitty cubby hole" where a nervous cat can comfortably hide until the doctor is ready to see them. The staff treat you like family and treat your pet as their own. Each time I brought in my cat, the tech or the doctor would crouch on the ground to pet and calm my cat before beginning any exams. I've never seen a veterinarian treat my pet with such care and affection as I have here. I found the prices to be comprable to the community clinic that I had been going to for 10 years. But with far superior service. The fact of life is that veterinary care can be expensive, just like any other health care. Loch Haven's pricing on medication, shots, exam visits, and routine care were very reasonable, sometimes cheaper than what I was used to. Diagnostics can be expensive but again, that is what health care costs when you're not a human with health insurance. You are paying for highly skilled professionals using specialized equipment to care for your pet like family. Dr. Saint Pierre is fantastic. When my cat began losing weight dramatically, she presented all my options for performing diagnostics and explained each possible route of treatment depending on the results. She explained everything in great detail, as well as followed up phone calls to check in on his progress, and I never once felt rushed. She explained which tests were necessary, and which tests would be helpful but not necessary, so that I could budget accordingly. When signs began pointing to lymphoma and went outside the scope of their expertise, she was able to refer me to an excellent specialist to continue his care. I appreciated the fact that Dr. St. Pierre let me know when they had reached the limits of how they could assist, instead of taking guesses or throwing my money away like some other veterinarians might do. Fast forward 7 months and my cat is doing very well on his current treatment plan. I have Loch Haven Veterinary Hospital to thank for it due to their professionalism, knowledge, and attention to my pet. Thank you! read more

We took our dog to Loch Haven for her annual check up and she had a mild skin infection, diagnosed as mild staph. The vet wanted to prescribe her a very strong antibiotic via a shot. We said we did not to make her immune to antibiotic and requested a topical antibiotic to try first. The vet told us there was no such thing. I provided an example which another vet recommended, and he said "that's a steroid not an antibiotic." My dog's dad is a doctor and informed the vet that there is indeed an antibiotic In the topical spray. The vet would not prescribe a topical spray and insisted on an oral antibiotic. Her staph went away and has come back. I c asked the vet to see if they could prescribe her a topical spray. They recommended a $40 anti fungal shampoo and to come in for another exam. He explicitly stated the spray needed antibiotic, so why would he recommend a shampoo without one? Why would The vet recommend a very strong antibiotic for a very mild ski infection that dogs are prone to? Is he inferring I should give my dog a strong antibiotic several times a year???? That seems absurd and like she will develop an immunity. Very disappointed in the vet. He doesn't seem to have the best interest of the dog at heart and only wants to make money with his $150 exam and $180 oral antibiotic (the spray is $8.00). read more

This morning our dog consumed oil containing a toxic ingredient called "wolfsbane". We immediately called the animal poison control line and we were informed this ingredient was toxic and life threatening if consumed by both humans and animals. We were told to get our dog to a vet as soon as possible and that this was a life threatening emergency. I called Loch Haven Veterinary Hospital. I advised reception of the emergency. They were accommodating and told me to bring my dog in. They advised me of the fees. I arrived and was greeted immediately. The reception staff was attentive and got me into a room within 5 minutes. I was given new patient paperwork. I spent about 10 minutes filling out the paperwork. After finishing the paperwork I noticed that no one was stopping by to collect my paperwork or update me on when I would be seen for this emergency. After 30 minutes of waiting I thought that maybe I needed to take my paperwork to reception and that I had just missed that instruction. I left the room and asked the reception staff and was told that they collected that paperwork when I was seen. I was dumbfounded. I went back into the room and waited another 30 minutes and not one person from the staff stopped to check on my dog that was suffering from poisoning. After 1 hour of waiting in a room I realized that my dogs life threatening emergency was not a concern to the veterinary staff so I left to seek help. I left. I called another vet from the parking lot. After a 10 minute drive to a different vet I was seen immediately and my dog was treated. The other vet again confirmed that this was a life threatening situation where every minute counted. This was my first and last experience with Loch Haven Veterinary Hospital. I see a lot of 4-5 star reviews, but my dogs life was on the line today and they failed miserably. If you have an emergency situation with your animal I beg you to look for another option. Don't make the mistake of trusting this vet with your animals life. read more

This is an interim location while their Mills Ave office is built out, but it's set up for full service. My dog Barclay has seen Dr. Rey at this location and has had some x-rays and his teeth cleaned. They're very tolerant of my dog's neuroses and have realized a large jar of Jif usually goes a long way when it comes to being cooperative. They were also very tolerant of my neuroses and agreed with my request to try conservative treatment when my dog pulled or tore something in his back leg (he's fine now, yay). read more

This vet lied to me about the price that they would charge me. I only wanted my cats nails clipped. She is a rescue and has a hard time letting me do it. I also needed to get her rabies shot. I was told on the phone the total would be $140.00 and I had a $70 credit from previous visits. After the credit it was $275.00!!!! this is a rip off and that's why I left many years ago. WHY OH WHY did I go back? I won't do that again. They know that you can't do anything after they do what they want. RUN!! read more

I recently got a new puppy, a little Italian Greyhound, and was nervous about finding a good veterinarian for her. I read all the reviews here and wanted to get in to see Dr. Rey but there were no appointments available on short notice, so I was booked to see Dr. Martin. Dr. Martin, and his assistant Corinne, were both so amazing! Dr. Martin patiently answered all of my questions, and I ask a LOT of questions! LOL! Corinne gave suggestions for general new puppy care as well, such as house training and separation anxiety, etc. The office itself appears brand new, or recently remodeled, and very clean and comforting. As a result of my amazing experience with the vet and his tech, I have been bringing my puppy Vita for their "day boarding" several times per week, and she LOVES it! Actually, the receptionist there, Jocelyn, helped me pick out a name for the puppy, Vita! The ENTIRE staff has been sooo super sweet and friendly to Vita! Jocelyn, Di, Cheyenne, Jamie, Semarra, and Brandon and Colton in the back, are ALL so sweet to little Vita! I am sure I am leaving someone out...and I apologize if I have! Anyway, Vita gets SO excited to go to Loch Haven in the mornings...she literally starts flailing her skinny little legs! The staff showers her with love and treats when she is there. When I pick her up, the staff gives me updates on how she did, whether she ate her food, peed or pooped, etc. This place is truly amazing! You can really tell that they ALL care for Vita almost as much as I do! It is not cheap for sure, but if you can afford it, I highly recommend Loch Haven Animal Hospital! I visited Loch Haven Vet for the first time yesterday with my cat and all I can say is WOW. The office is sleek, modern, and so clean, and the staff there treated my little fur baby and I with the utmost care, gentleness, and respect. I just moved here from New York and was extremely worried about finding a vet that I liked as much as my old one, and I can confidently say the Loch Haven blew my old vet office out of the water. They really know what they're doing here, and I would recommend this office to anyone/everyone. They are certainly the best in Orlando, if not all of Florida. The prices aren't the cheapest I've ever seen, but they're incredibly reasonable for the quality of care. Bring your pets here, you will not regret it. read more

Place is clean and nice looking but my positive reviews end there. I have been coming here for a few years. Last year after my 4 yr old cat received his rabies vaccination he became very ill and ultimately had to be put down. I brought him in two times after the vaccine and he got sick and they dismissed it and sent us home. The front office girl is snippy and rude. I have twice called in with questions on medications and was told the told vet will call back in 24-48 hours. Each time I end up having to call them on day 3. I'm done with this place, I have given them way too many opportunities to make a better impression. Today I brought my other cat in for his annual visit waited over an hour and nothing. No one has even taken us into a room or said a word to us. Their prices are inflated and their staff is something left to be desired. My fur babies are going else where. When it relates to my dog-daughter I admit that I can be difficult, unreasonable and demanding--because I fiercely love her and will only accept the very best care for her, and over and over that is what I get from Dr. Rey at Loch Haven (and the whole staff). Frankly, I am concerned that my review will be flagged as fake because I have such over the top, fabulous opinions of this establishment. I began taking my pets to Dr. Rey over ten years ago and she has been a steady, incredibly capable, ridiculously intelligent doctor who has left a permanently warm mark on our lives. Not to mention she is all soft and gooey and baby talks to the pets but is serious, all-business regarding treatment. She and Affiliated Vet Specialists recently saved my chihuahua's life--literally. I know for certain that the ending to this story could have been sadly different at a host of lesser skilled vets. Simply stated, you know when you are in the presence of a gifted human who humbly resists the title of "the best" so I strongly urge you to experience this for yourselves. This complain is for BOTH the emergency vet location in Casselberry, the location in downtown Orlando AND and the people (third party; board members) who administer all locations which is Loch Haven Vet Hospital. On Dec 24, our cocker spaniel was bleeding. We were not sure what was wrong with her, so at 10:30 pm my husband, sister and daughter rushed her to the emergency vet in the downtown area because the Casselberry office was very busy that night. After charging my husband $400+ on visit and LOTS of different medicines, our Lola was sent home with a urinary tract infection. On Dec 26, sadly we had to put her down. When she woke up that morning yelping in pain and not being able to stand much less walk, we knew something was terribly wrong. The vet at the Casselberry office diagnosed her with renal failure. We paid an additional $295. In two days TWO different diagnosis. I spoke to the head vet, who in return investigated the matter. Dr. Martin felt something was not right and stated he would take my case to the board end of March, and asked that I call him back with the findings. I've called on SEVEN separate occasions. He seems to never be in the office, and never returns my calls, even though I leave detailed messages. Yesterday when I called, the receptionist was extremely rude and even hung up on me. I am now considering taking this matter higher up. The lack of courtesy, professionalism and care is frustrating. Very, very disappointed and infuriated. read more
