Dr Albert and his staff take great care of Mr. Rascal. He had been going here for a few years and as an elderly dog (14.5 years) he is in great hands here. He recently had to undergo dental surgery and they did a great job with him. I was very concerned with his age that he may not make it but Dr Albert team took great care of him. To be clear, Dr. Alber is an excellent veterinarian and has cared for my pets since 2018. I've recommended him to many pet parents over the years. Unfortunately, the way my dog's recent diagnosis and follow-up were handled was deeply disappointing. I generally avoid posting reviews, but I feel compelled to share this so it reaches someone who can address the issue. The office left a voicemail with the diagnosis but no guidance on next steps. When I called and stopped by Tuesday, staff couldn't explain what a renal diet involved and said the doctor would follow up by end of day, which I did not receive. The clinic was closed the next day, and despite two calls and an email that day, I only received the doctor's email around 5 p.m. (which I initially missed in spam). Dr. Alber explained he'd been in surgery all day and apologized, which I sincerely appreciate. The concern lies with how the office manager responded. When I called at 5:30 p.m. with urgent follow-up questions, Nancimarie Figueroa was dismissive and defensive. She refused to let me speak with Dr. Alber and even said she would tell him not to call me back. When I explained that the initial explanation on Tuesday was vague and left me unsure of the urgency or next steps, she brushed it off--saying she could "pull video," which had nothing to do with the lack of clarity. She was condescending about my not working in the medical field and dismissed every concern. Minutes later I received an email formally terminating our client-hospital relationship. Ending care after a single reasonable concern - without an opportunity to resolve it- felt unprofessional and showed little accountability. From someone with years of leadership and customer-service experience, this is not how a manager should handle client feedback. I hope the clinic reviews how feedback is addressed and ensures pets and families receive the empathy, professionalism, and continuity of care they deserve. Dr. Alber and the staff at Shey's are great! Dr. Alber has a great, calm demeanor with the animals and knows how to handle them without making the visit any more traumatizing than it already is for the little fur babies. I wouldn't say they're the cheapest in the area, but they certainly are convenient and I trust my animals in their care so that's what's most important. The office itself is clean and well maintained. Parking can be a bit dicey in the little plaza, but that's usually later in the afternoon/evening that it fills up since you've got a pizza place, Chinese place and a Tijuana Flats all in the same plaza. This Vet in Avalon park is where we take the dog and cats for their annual checkups and for emergency visits. It's convenient to Avalon park and sits next to Tijuana Flats. Parking can be an issue here so I suggest early appointments before the restaurants open. With Covid precautions, you aren't allowed inside with the pets and everything is by phone. They call and open the door and take your animal. They poke and prod and eventually call you back and say they're done. They're like really polite informative alien abductors for pets. Prior to Covid, you would take the animals and wait with them in a room, like most vets. The staff is friendly and caring as is the doctor. I'm glad we switched to this vet a few years ago when they first opened. One drawback is that they seem to be getting busier, so it's possible you may be waiting longer than you expect. We have been bringing our cats to Shey's since 2020 and have been extremely happy with the level of care and service provided. The staff is always able to answer our questions and provide resources as needed. We love that they have evening and weekend hours, which makes it easy for us to schedule appointments for our pets. The few times we have a pet emergency, they were able to assist us same day, or connect us with another local emergency vet clinic that would be able to help. I've been going to Sheys since 2018 and I wouldn't trust the health and wellness of my animals with any other Vet. The Dr. Alber and his team are kind, caring, and compassionate. They really take the time to get to know your pets and prescribe therapy and treatment based on years of knowledge and specialization. COVID Protocols: Due to COVID, when you arrive for your appointment you park in the parking lot (they are right next to Tijuana Flats) and call the main number. In a few moments (close to your appointment time) a technician calls you and asks some diagnostic questions. Once you're done they meet you at the door with your pet (you must wear your mask), and they take it from there. Once the appointment is complete Dr. Alber or someone from the team will call you and review the appointment, you pay over the phone, and you get your pet back. It's rare that I leave 5 star reviews but oh man, this place deserves it. My dog had been sick for awhile and after an emergency visit to another vet, I tried out Shey's to get a second opinion and to see if they would be any cheaper than what the emergency vet had quoted me. Unfortunately blood work revealed that my dog had significant liver value elevations, but I've never had a vet be so comforting and patient while giving me all of my options. I never felt rushed or pressured to make a choice, Michael Alber was so kind and reassuring while he talked me through everything in a way I could understand and listened to me babble about my sweet boy. The rest of the staff were friendly and welcoming, and even though their doors weren't officially open to the public the wait time was fairly short. I wish I would've made Sheys my primary vet sooner, but when I'm ready to get another pet, I won't take them anywhere else but here. This places was awesome after looking around for a new vet I finally found this place. Prices are good and free nail trim with the visit which that's awesome. The vet tech was awesome she explained everything I needed to know and asked about my doggie lifestyle to adjust vaccination towards him and not our vaccines that he doesn't need. Also she came with cost estimates and asked me what I really wanted to do. Didn't pressure me at all on my dog getting a million things. The actual vet he was awesome. He really seems like he care about the dog health and preventions. I took my adopted kitty Stella to the vet for the first time since I got her. I'm a very anxious person so when I was told I had to drop her off and return for her later I was so nervous. I kept mentioning how Stella gets scared easily but now that I'm looking back, I might have been more scared than she was (oops). While waiting I decided to distract myself and buy a tea somewhere expecting the visit to take longer than it did. Within about 10 minutes of handing her to a vet tech I received a call from Dr. Alber and I felt much more at ease. He listened to all of my concerns and even dealt with my nervous rambling. I'm so so so glad that I decided to take my kitty to Shey's, even though I couldn't be in the room with her it was still a comfortable and pleasant experience. Everyone was so nice and helpful. My kitty didn't seem spooked coming out either so I know that I picked the right place for us. The ladies at the front desk also made sure to give Stella lots of compliments and reassured me that she was so good and received lots of love while I was gone and I 100% believe them. Dr. Alber and the staff always take great care of my cat. Since I adopted my cat from the Cat Cafe, his first vet visit was free! They encourage the adoption of shelter cats. Dr. Alber answered all of my questions and always explains the results of his examination in detail. I appreciate the professional service. I have taken my animals to Shey's since they opened. We have since moved 30 minutes away and still drive back to see Dr. Alber. If not for him, my senior cat would not still be alive, and I mean that literally. This office always calls to check in after appointments. They will work you in when it's important. Most importantly, they care about your pets and it shows. I trust their recommendations and treatment options. Dr. Alber presents all pertinent information when discussing treatment options and helps us decide based on current research and potential risks. Shey's is the best vet practice I've used. Update: we recently had to make the extremely difficult decision to put down my 19 year old cat. Dr Alber always gave us good advice and options down to the last. He was caring, his staff was respectful and wrote us individual notes about our cat. I wish I could give them 10 stars!!!! I'm driving 30 minutes out of my way to see this vet. I really want to like this veterinarian hospital, I like to support small business. Poor communication and protocol. Did not call back when requested. Long wait time in the exam room. Records are wrong, I had to contact the practice multiple times to correct their data input error. Pricing is very high compare to other vets. The office is clean and love the cute wall painting, it always makes me smile going in. The electronic system is awesome and we love that it auto-orders our monthly flea/heartworm meds. I absolutely adore Dr. Alber so much. He is gentle, kind, respectful, and an excellent doctor. He is amazing with my pups... but cannot stand his vet tech. At first I was so happy that we finally found a vet that we love and we can just stay with him until the end. She is very unprofessional and gives horrendous advice on things that she doesn't even have authority to speak about. I made an appt based on referral from All4Pets, which I'm a frequent customer. The atmosphere and staff ws extremely friendly and accommodating. I received estimates before any recommended service and I love that everything is electronic, affordable and they tailor the service based on your pets individual needs. I love Dr. Alber. He is funny, kind and compassionate. They're doing the best they can with Covid but I do miss being able to go in with my dogs and talk to the doctor face to face. His staff has always been really sweet. I took away one star because I have had two instances now where the medication dosage was wrong. Doesn't keep me from going there but definitely makes me nervous when I have to give my pugs medications. Just make sure you read the bottles and check the dosage. We should be able to trust this is correct but I guess we really should be checking all medications before taking them from anywhere. read more

My cat woke me up early in the morning screeching in pain and after calling Shey's right away, I was able to bring my cat in and they saw him within 10 minutes of being there. Luckily it was only a large fecal blockage that was easy to extract. The vet was very sweet and the staff made me feel like my cat was in good hands. The price is very affordable as well, $38 for a regular exam and $68 for an urgent one. I didn't mind paying the extra fee especially after knowing my cat was going to be out of pain that quickly. I will definitely bring both my cats back here in the future. read more

DO NOT take your pet here. My dog now has to recover from a spine injury after they mishandled my pet!! 0 stars if i could. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! In less than an hour after bloodwork was drawn from this clinic, my pet was limping, crying in pain, unable to eat and couldn't turn his neck. As the day went on, he was unable to use his front or back legs correctly and would fall over if he attempted to walk. Had to take him to an emergency vet for morphine in hopes it would give him relief. I will never come back to this establishment. I now have to deal with a potential life-long issue after a simple blood drawing!! read more

Dr Mike loves pets. My dog is a handful, very nervous at vets. Every other vet has had to muzzle him for shots which make his anxiety all the worse. This was the first location where they did not have to muzzle him. Dr Mike got down on the floor to comfort my dog. The vet tec was helpful and polite as was the front desk staff. I'm not sure what happened with a few of the bad ratings. Everyone is a 5 except for a few. Maybe miscommunication? Wanted to try a new vet and was very impressed with Dr. Alber. I had a lot of questions but he answered them all! Helped my dog stop eating his paws with some medication and was very patient with my dog who is quite a nervous wreck in general. Prices are very fair compared to other vets. Gave a call to office and asked for a price estimate on rabies shot through phone call. Front desk receptionist responds with asking for my name and pets name. Starts listing other things my pet needs according to her and that he was due for some other things in the October. When I kept asking for price estimate on rabies shot only (which is the only thing he is due for) she kept going around the question taking more than 5 minutes for an estimate. I told her that he didn't need the other tests at the same time I did the rabies, and she kept arguing that my pet did in fact need them now instead of bringing him in October which is when they are actually do. I do not appreciate arguing with a moron over and over when I am trying to get an estimate on a rabies shot and provide due care to my pet. I get that my pet has stuff coming up and that you want me to do them 4 months ahead so you can charge me for it all in one visit. Pretty rude about it too. Now you will not get my money for the rabies shot this month and the other tests and vaccines for heart worm etc in October as I am taking my pet elsewhere less problematic and moronic about answering a simple question. read more

After reading such positive reviews, I was hoping to have a better experience at this establishment. I adopted my dog a little over a year ago and he does have aggressive tendencies. When I made the appointment I informed them that my pet is difficult especially when being groomed. I even informed the receptionist that the last time I took him to the groomer that he had bitten her (the groomer). I'd wanted to get him prescribed a sedative so he can tolerate being groomed as well as his vaccinations. The first thing that left me with bad vibe was the vet tech. She walked into the room and didn't introduce herself instead saying, "so what's going on?" in a not so friendly tone and then preceded to type on her laptop. I tried to tell her about his background of him being abandon in an apartment and when they found him, he couldn't see, and no one knew if he was a boy or a girl because his hair was so long and matted. Her response was, "he's aggressive, that's why they abandoned him." Vet tech girl, he is a DOG. Whatever his temperament is should not give anyone the right to leave him alone for months. You should seek another career if you cannot provide empathy for animals that have had difficult background. The doctor himself I actually really liked in the beginning. He came in, he was nice to me and my pet. He sat down on the floor and interacted with my dog. So there is where my one star goes. However, when they took my dog to the back he was difficult as I had stated when I made the appointment. According to the vet tech he had bitten the doctor. That's right the doctor never came back in to speak to me about what happened with my dog. They could not withdraw blood, nor give him his vaccinations. The DOCTOR should have come back in to explain the situation. There is no excuse for that lack of professionalism. I took my dog here and unfortunately had to put him down the same day. This vet genuinely cared about my dog and my family while we went through this rough time. They showed compassion and genuine love for my dog. I cannot thank them enough for all they have done. They allowed me and my family to take as much time as I needed to spend during the last moments with our dog. They offered us a private room and explained to us the process of putting him to sleep. They also ensured us we can take as much time as we wanted in the room with him, they did not rush me out or my family. My dog ended up passing away earlier than expected because he was doing so poorly that day. My parents ended up stopping by after my dog passed away but they prepared my dog and allowed my parents to visit him and say goodbye. I took my dog to 4 different vets before taking him to Shey's, one was the SPCA, the animal hospital in lake underhill, a vet in ocoee and another vet I could not remember the name of in Orlando, all 4 vets did not bother to do a CBC or draw blood on my dog to find out what was wrong. Shey's animal hospital was the only vet that took the time to figure out what is wrong with him and run his blood culture. The whole time my dog was in renal failure and no other vet was able to diagnose this. Dr. Mike alber and his team amazing. read more
