My experience is what I can only describe as negligent. I'm leaving a "5-star review" for the visibility this deserves, my true rating is 0/5. If you're seeking a place where you can spend hundreds of dollars with zero follow-up or aftercare, never speak to the vet and have your pet's issues persist then this is the office for you. I have been a customer for over 10 years and recently I took my young cat there for asthma treatment, and after being prescribed steroids, I was left in the dark. Despite my persistent follow-ups, I didn't hear from Dr. Moorefield or anyone else at the clinic for over a week. My cat's condition went unmonitored, and my concerns went unanswered. This lack of follow-up is especially alarming given the heavy side effects associated with steroids, which were never addressed. This experience with this clinic has not been isolated. When I pressed for care, the owners then refused to provide any further treatment. Now, I have to find a new vet and start over with my cat's care, as her issues and prescription continue to go unmonitored due to this clinic's failures. 1. Inconsistent Hours: The clinic advertises as a 24-hour facility, yet the doctors don't work on Mondays. They have an overloaded caseload and still take long weekends, leaving urgent cases unattended. 2. Poor Communication: I paid a significant amount for an appointment, only to find that the doctors rushed through the process. The owner, Dr. McCully, admitted that they were overworked and didn't have time to follow up properly, with an average wait of 7 business days excluding Mondays. 3. Negligent Procedures: In April, my cat was taken for a blood test. After being held in the back for over 30 minutes, I inquired about the delay. I learned that the vet techs were struggling to draw blood, stabbing my cat repeatedly-- my inquiry made the doctor step in. My cat, who has never hissed in her life, was clearly distressed, and the staff failed to keep me informed. Dr. McCully dismissed my concerns, saying, "That happens sometimes." 4. Lack of Care: I stupidly returned in September for my cat's asthma. I insisted on being present during blood draws due to my previous experience. However, the vet tech referred to incorrect notes claiming my cat was aggressive. I corrected her that it was due to negligent care as explained in the previous point. Also, Dr. Moorefield's lack of clarity in diagnosis and treatment plan was frustrating-- I had to ask her for to diagnose my cat. At one point, she asked for my opinion on treatment options, which left me speechless. "Do you think your cat should be on an inhaler or an oral steroid?" This was after I paid hundreds of dollars for her expert opinion. 5. Inadequate Instructions: I received no guidance on using an inhaler for my cat, only told to buy a $60 adapter. I had to turn to hours of online tutorials for help due to the lack of guidance and lack of follow-up from this office. My attempts to reach Dr. Moorefield for support went unanswered, and no one checked in on my cat's progress or side effects from the steroids. Ultimately, Dr. Moorefield decided she could no longer care for my cat and refused to treat her further. Despite my efforts to communicate, I received no compassion or accountability from the clinic. The owning doctor, Christine McCully, called me and was rude, taking no responsibility for her office's negligent care, did not check-in on the patient even after I asked her if she had time to answer questions I had about my cat's persistent issues, and refused service. She did not care about me, this review, and especially not about her patient: my cat. She must've told her husband (owner) who then called me which I thought it to be uncalled-for and confusing, especially considering his wife refused me further treatment just an hour prior when I was simply awaiting proper followup which she refused. He then stated he worked at one of my high schools and "watched me walk down the hallways" among other concerning statements. After looking John up, I have never met him and find this disturbing, inappropriate and uncalled for. Safe to say I will not be back. This office made no effort to address my questions, refused to provide care, made me uncomfortable and left me to my own devices to treat and monitor their patient. I urge anyone considering this clinic to think twice. read more

I've been taking my dog to the Downtown Pet Hospital for a little over 3 years now and am so happy that I have a veterinary clinic that I can rely on. My dog does not get along with other animals so when I have to bring her in for a checkup or an appointment, they have always been very accommodating. We usually coordinate a non-busy time of the day to come in they allow her to go straight into one of their rooms until it's time to see a doctor so that she doesn't run into other pets in the lobby which is a big stress reliever for me. The staff are all so sweet to my dog and treat her so well. Something that I also appreciate is that they have been transparent about the pricing of medications and procedures so you know what to expect before you checkout. Other pet hospitals I've been to are similar to car mechanics - you go in for an oil change and then they try to upsell you on other things your car needs and then you get hit with a bunch of extra fees even when you bring in a coupon for what you thought was a $20 oil change. The Downtown Pet Hospital has always done a great job of giving me options, telling me the price of meds and giving me their honest opinion on whether or not I should spend money on a product or procedure. I can't say enough good things about my experiences at this clinic. I take both of my cats here, and when my cat got sick with liver disease recently, these doctors and nurses really stepped up to save her life and help me heal her. They have always been kind, responsive to my calls with questions about caring for my cat, and extremely patient. My cat has a feeding tube and one of the nurses took time out of her day on two occasions to show me how to use it and feed her properly, since I was feeling nervous. I have always gotten the sense that these nurses and vets treat my pets like they are their own. The facility is clean and the doctors and nurses are so knowledgeable. Staff is always helpful and cheerful. They've given great care to our mini-schnauzer. Their wait time is excellent even if you are late for your appointment, which admittedly only happened once or twice. But the wait was what could be expected under the circumstances. I even brought my dog for an unscheduled appointment (it was same day) while they were fully booked. Yet they made time and didn't rush us through the visit/consult. Long gone are the days of my coaxing, pushing, pulling, and folding up my cats into their cat carriers. My kitties receive excellent care from Dr. Califf in the comfort of their home (if you understand cats, it is THEIR home, not mine). Anyway, today Dr. Califf drove all the way to Oviedo to visit my aging female feline who is having bowel-movement issues. The visit, stool samples (one for each of the two cats), and ointment cost only $125! The best part? Not once did I have to coax, push, pull, or fold up my little angel. She independently introduced to herself to Dr. Califf, and because of the Dr.'s gentle demeanor (and probing), she purred the entire examination. This is my second time using Dr. Califf and I am just as happy this time as I was four years ago. Dr. Califf can't do all procedures in the home; in that case, you can coax, push, pull and fold up your furry family members and drive them to his clinic downtown. read more

I moved to Orlando in Dec 2011. A co-worker recommended Downtown Animal Hospital for my female golden doodle. If the rating had more stars, I would give them. Compassionate, friendly, excellent customer, caring are some of the adjectives to describe this vet practice. My dog moves her tail every time we go there. She smells the front door and she knows!!!!! I have used the boarding services and although I feel sad to leave her knowing she will sleep in a kennel - which is not what happens at home, they provide playtime and an area where she can be loose during the day. They also sanitize her everyday, even her ears!!!!! I recently left my dog for boarding for 4 days and they sent text messages with updates on Chloe every day!!!!!!
