Great nice and relatively easy course for high to mid handicap golfers. I played for a the first time with a friend and scored my best there, so they sure deserve a 5 for that. One thing to notice, they aerating the greens when we played, so it was pretty slow, so make sure you check with their staff before booking if you prefer high quality greens. ‍‍‍ read more

Course was in great shape, even after rain the night before. I golfed on a Tuesday morning. Starter let an extra group out ahead causing big delays on the course... my tee time got pushed back 15 mins and had to wait on every tee box. If this didn't happen probably would have been a 3.5 hour round. Kind of an unlucky situation - I'll definitely be going back here to play! read more

My son and I play here every now and then. Not a bad course, but not a good one either. The greens need some up keep and sometimes the course is a little rattie. They do have a driving range and putting green that is in good shape. The clubhouse has food and beverages. Don't golf in the fall, I always loose my ball, it must be under one of the thousands of leaves, ahh I know what you are saying " hit it on the fairway " Good course for a beginner and intermediate. read more

I like this course. The course is challenging and the greens are well maintained. The team there is very inviting and accommodating. I've only golfing here 4 times but all 4 times I had fun and so did my daughter. The gal in the snack bar is especially sweet; giving my daughter a slushy at the turn won her over for life. Played in a par 3, 9 hole tourney and met some really cool members...who kicked my butt. I will continue to play here as long as I'm in the area! read more

The Good: The Greens...The greens were re-done a couple years ago and are in really nice shape. This is head and shoulders the best part about the course. The Average: The layout of the course isn't bad at all, and the range is nice being right outside the clubhouse. The Bad: The fairways are in horrific condition. I didn't say "bad", I said "horrific". Played there twice this year (April 5th and April 26th) and both times landing in fairway left you worse off then being in the rough. If you weren't hitting out of swampy slop (and you were lucky enough to have dry land) you were hitting off of hard dirt. I know March was rough on all of NC this year with the longer winter, but this course has not bounced back and we're fully into spring at this point. I'd almost recommend that they stop cutting the dirt/grass completely for a while (except the greens) until they can get the fairways figured out. The course obviously has major drainage issues...it simply cannot handle rain. It did rain this past Friday (April 25th) but it really didn't rain that much...yet it was a swamp all day long on Saturday. Our round concluded around 2:30 and it was still gross out there even though it was a sunny and 78-80 degree morning and afternoon. The cart paths are in major need of repaving. It looks like they've started to repave a couple areas (by that i mean 2% of the entire course), but the entire course needs repaved cart paths. It looks like the haven't been done in 30 years. Honestly...aside from the greens and cool name, I'd pass on this place and go somewhere else. It's not worth the money. read more

Not a bad course. Nothing too special or challenging. I play from the pro-tees and I manage to beat my usual handicap. Some holes can be a bit tight and there is a fair bit of water, but for the most part, this is a great course to start out with if you're coming out of the par - 3 world. Nice range, great practice facility for pitching, putting and chipping. Nice friendly service, straight forward approach. Pretty good deals in the pro-shop, too. I bought a Calloway Driver about 8 years ago that had been used for like 9 holes... I think I got it for half price and to this day, I hit the thing over 300 yards. Plus, I've got two pairs of nice shorts from last season that are holding up pretty well... and for $15 each, I'm pretty happy with the investment. Get there at 4 pm mon-thurs for a SUPER deal $20 to walk 18. Never too crowded but again, you may need to rev-up your communication skills if you want to play through some of the older/less experienced golfers. Decent food and cold beer, too. read more

I really enjoy playing this course.. When it hasn't rained in a while. What I mean by that is the course has a low elevation profile so any bit of rain can get these fairways soaked and sloppy. This won't be your most cost effective course but for that, you must be relatively serious and have respect for the game to play here. Note, mandatory collar rule. I like it. Not my first choice in the area, but I'll play a round here when I can. I enjoy the practice facility. Lots of different targets to hit to, but ALWAYS seems to be into the wind. The layout is pretty good, some holes do seem repetitive. Pace of play is usually an issue here and the Rangers don't seem to do anything about it. Stay away after rain! While the golf course is in good shape and lots of fun to play, the starter AL is looney! He harassed us as well as others and stated untruths when we played under allotted time! If you can play without his harassment, you will enjoy this course!! read more

This place is a cow path. Fairways are bare, not brown, bare. The greens are mottled, tee boxes filled with weeds. One of the worst courses I have ever played. Shame on you Club Corp for doing nothing to bring this course up to even a reasonable standard. Pace of play was dreadful...waited on every hole. Staff was nice. New to Raleigh and this is a fine course. Challenging at the Blue tees 6200yds. Much more difficult at 6600. Fairways well cut, greens moderate to good speeds, and staff was nice. Pace is a bit slow there, but u can catch it on non busy day and u can fly around. Cheers. read more

Given the low ratings most everyone gave this course on Yelp I had low expectations going to play here last Sunday morning with a buddy. I guess from there you can only go up! :) I had a good time there. Course isn't Pebble by any standards, but it's not a cow pasture either so I think it falls nicely in-between / middle of the road course. They've been offering good deals to get people out there, which I can't complain about either as unfortunately golf isn't exactly a cheap sport. Most all the tee boxes, fairways and greens were good shape. Very straight holes for the most part. I'd golf here again since it's convenient access living in Cary, but I'm looking forward to checking some other courses in the area too. read more

I love to golf in the area between Raleigh and Pinehurst and believe me, there are some great places to play - this is definitely not one of them. Sub par conditions, inhospitable staff, poorly managed and lacking value. Don't waste your time or money. read more

You get what you pay for here. $25 for 18 with a cart on GolfNow and I will not go back. Doesn't appear they know what a sprinkler is. Fairways were dry, hard and mostly dirt. Greens were fine but getting there was no fun. read more

The course has never looked better or drained better. Greens roll as good if not better than a lot of the privates in the Triangle. If you haven't played Lochmere in a long time, give it a try. Best value around! read more

Course is much better than years past. There are New greens and further efforts to improve conditions. The layout has always been good. A member jumped our tee time then made a five some at the third hole made for a long day waiting on every single shot. read more

This is an average course on the best of days, though the green are newer, so on a good day, could be nice. They don't seem to care much about pace of play, so hope it's not busy. Lackluster course. Good if you just want to go hack around or drink with your buds. read more

My dad was visiting from out of state and was looking so forward to golfing. He reserved his spot online. Unfortunately he chose Lochmere. When he arrived, he was told it was cart path only, even though the course was bone dry. My dad has bad ankles but is fine if he can limit his walking. He asked if he could have a flag so he could at least go 90 degrees and they said no. He was afraid his ankle would flair up so he asked for a refund but they wouldn't refund him either. What kind of service is that? He thought he would try to make the best of it, even though the people were so rude. When he got to the course, the Starter was at least nice and said he would call the office for a flag. They told the Starter yes but when my dad walked back to the office to get it, they still wouldn't give it to him! It was unbelievable! He was treated so rudely and with complete disrespect. Because my dad would never break the rules, he walked way more than he should have until the pain flaired up and had to stop early. I have no idea who they think they are at Lochmere but the fairways are terrible, with hardly any grass, so they cant afford to treat people this way when we have better choices. The course is awful and the staff has no compassion. Never again. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. read more

This is a nice course, Much better than in the past with recent upgrade of new Greens (Bermuda), bunkers, and carts. Cart paths have also been repaired. The snack room is small and the Beer selection on tap is slim, but that is my only complaint. The staff is friendly and eager to please and the prices are reasonable, particularly with the quality of the greens. Went out to Lochmere today with temps over 100F. I have 3 main gripes abourt Lochmere. 1. No water for water coolers - I specifically asked the manager if they were going to maintain water in the coolers and they ran out!!!! 2. The greens suck! They have 2 different types of grass growing on them and they are the worst I have seen in NC this year! 3. The rough was 4" deep! It was so deep we lost balls throughout the day. It was not even fair it was so deep and I almost shot in the 30's on the back 9. Save your money and go somewhere else. Lochmere used to be a good golf course. I would have given them a 0 star rating but the web site would not allow it. read more

OK, I saw some reviews of this course before I played and not many were very favoreable, so I went having low expectations and hoping for the best. Hmmm. I did not enjoy this course much at all. The first thing I noticed is that it is very wet. I'm not talking about the ponds and streams but the fairways. I forgot to mention that we had to start at the 10th and do the course backward. Not a big deal until I found out why. The par 3, 7th hole has a lady that just bought a home right near the green. She complained that they work on the holes before 7am and evidently bother her, so they flipped it. I gues the lady didn't know that they actually have to WORK on the greens. Unbelievable! I won't play there again for that reason only. The golf cart almost made through all 18 holes. I had to have my wife drive as I pushed it from 17 on. Someone else left a comment about the brakes on the carts and it was very accurate. They suck. Give yourself about 15 foot gap or you'll ram into your buddy. The bunkers on the other hand were a pleasant surprise. The sand was great and played well. I thought the staff were very nice and completely professional. The pro shop had a lot of good deals on shirts and whatnot but I didn't want a shirt from there. The driving range was nice as well as the practice putting green. Now, we played late in the season and they are getting ready to replace greens and fairways right now but I overheard a guy say that the greens were the best all year. That doesn't say much. My overall rating would've been about a 1.5 but i didn't have that option. read more

I move to the Cary area and was looking for a golf club to join, I read the reviews listed on this page that went to play the golf course anyway. I found that people working at course to be friendly and helpful, the new Greens are going to be great in a month or so. The sand traps were as good as any I had been in, and the fairways were in good shape. They had brand-new golf carts and they were clean and ready to go. As for the slow play anyone who has played much golf know that Tuesday morning is always senior day, and every club that I've played up-and-down the East Coast. Senior members always seem to feel entitled, that use to bother me but now that I'm a senior I think it's okay. It would be my observation that the new Lochmere golf club is a great place for the everyday average golfer and well worth the money. read more

Play here when I can, and always enjoy it. The staff has always been welcoming and friendly. It can be crowded on weekends and nice days, so you can't always expect to be able to walk in for a tee time or call the night before. The pace of play can be a bit slow when it's crowded, but overall good fun. read more
