Located in a repurposed turn of the century building,it's got a cool vibe that even works at breakfast. I was surprised how busy they were for a Monday. However,after my first drink of the perfect black coffee they served,I knew I was in the right place. Varied menu with all the usual suspects and well executed. My corned beef hash was excellent, as were my granddaughters breakfast tacos . Get this,it was all served up by a robot! I came here with a group of friends for brunch. Overall decent experience. We ordered a variety of dishes and some dishes were a hit and some were a miss. I ordered the vegan hash and it was delicious. Portion was generous and the veggies were well seasoned. I was really excited about the polenta pancakes but they were pretty basic. The polenta doesn't make it special from my point of view. Probably not the best for groups because we were a party of 8 and squished together. Little cafe with big flavor. My family stopped in for a quick breakfast. My husband ordered the steak and eggs (no picture). While my daughter and I split the Belgian waffles. If you have a sweet tooth for breakfast things, I would recommend trying. You don't even need to use syrup the sugared waffle and fruit complimented each other perfectly. This a great place for breakfast or lunch. Very laid back atmosphere with old brick walls and includes a full bar. I ordered the monster-sized 3 egg omelet with an add-on of breakfast potatoes. Went for Sunday brunch and their ordered a cappuccino, mimosa (1st was $12 and each additional was $1), cornbeef hash, sweet potato bacon hash, and toast with cream cheese, strawberries and their delish freshly-made fruit compote, which was incredibly tasty. Both hashes were savory delights. Would definitely eat here again. One unique aspect was "Bella," the robot server. Our waiter explained that they use the robot because the kitchen is so far away from the seating area and the robot can carry up to twenty plates compared to a human server. read more

Really fun little brunch spot in downtown McKinney. This is a great place to eat brunch with family or friends. They have a cute little robot that brings the food out. The coffee is great. I had a dark chocolate mocha and its something that I will crave. The espresso was smooth and it's made with a dark chocolate, which is why I ordered it. It's a good dark chocolate and its big enough that you can sit for a while an enjoy your coffee. The menu has a lot of wonderful things and I was informed that most of the menu can be made gluten free. I had the steak and eggs. The steak was cooked really good. It's a good steak too. It had a great beefy flavor that went well with the perfectly cooked egg and the spiced potatoes. I recommend going, but plan ahead. This place is popular at one point there was a line out the door so be prepared to wait. I promise its worth the wait. read more

Everyone is friendly and check on you regardless if its their table and Sydney my waitress was a doll. Now let's talk the main event FOOD. I was a pleasant surprise just how delicious the food was. I ordered the vegan hash and polenta pancakes. The Vegan has was devine, seasoned well with a bit of spice and plenty of delicious vegetables. The pancakes were fluffy and very large and the berry sauce was a perfect touch. Word of advice: Now I knew the hash was going to be plenty but my sweets side would not let it rest and I'm glad I listened. GET THE PANCAKES. I was at a closing in Downtown Mckinney and asked our closer for a recommendation on a good place for brunch and Layered was just a few doors over, so there we went! The restaurant is an old, redone, turn of the century building and the place doubles as a restaurant bar in the evening with a FULL bar in back The place was not too busy as it was 11 AM and Jessie our server was right over. My client's ordered the chicken fried steak and chicken fried steak and waffles. I ordered what I thought to be a smaller and healthier breakfast meal a breakfast croissant with fresh fruit. The sandwich had options on meats, bacon, ham or sausage along with avocado and cheese. I told Jessie I liked the ham and to "load it up" --- she looked at me and said are you sure? I said YES. She told me it would be extra and I said, no problem. When our meals came out on a small robotic serving tray, Jessie went o pull our meals and my small croissant was actually a HUGE one that had all 3 meats, avocado and eggs...I could barely lift it without something falling out...I did not think I was going to finish....but it was yummy and I was so full!
