My last service with Lyric was a wash and simple style. On January 26th it will be my 1 year loc-aversary. Over the past year (since my consultation) Lyric has been very professional (timely, communicative, has a system in place and has great customer service). Lyric cares about your hair and uses her experience and education to help you take proper care of your locs. I am grateful to have been referred to her to be my loctician. First let me state for the record, I'm a man of integrity and principle but when I have been lied to and scammed, it is in my highest interest to seek remedy and inform my friends, family, and followers to protect them from experiencing the same dishonorable service. If I could leave negative stars I would have selected that, 1 star is being kind. I found Lyric from an IG post I made specifically seeking for someone who can crochet, is licensed, and is passionate about preserving the quality of hair as I'm very protective of the energy, product, and craftsmanship used in my hair. The scam of charging a $50 consultation fee after confirming to me that it's applied to the service booked, just to look at my hair on a 11min Instagram video call on 4/11/24 to recommend a crochet service that I know you already provide and is what I'm wanting to book for, just to have your assistant Leslie tell me 2 weeks from the original consultation at 9pm on (4/25) that I can no longer book because, "Lyric wouldn't be able to achieve my desired result," after she literally told me what she could do for my hair which was to simply crochet it for $300. After asking for clarity, Leslie messaged me back, saying that Lyric told her, that I said I didn't feel comfortable with her crocheting technique which is a lie because I asked Lyric for a better understanding on the process of crocheting, because I never had it done, in which, at the end, I agreed and asked for pricing and told her I'll be booking within the coming weeks. If what she claimed is true about me not liking her methods, then why would I ask for pricing and why would you wait two weeks to tell me that you won't allow me to book. Her policy says if no appointment is made then the deposit is non-refundable, but she's the one not allowing me to book, which is the stupidest scam in history. No one I know, wants this bad business energy touching their crown and I definitely wouldn't recommend Lyric/Leslie. Skills and morals are one in the same for me. Also just seen as I'm sharing my experience, Leslie left a review but she's your friend and assistant, that left a 5 star review, how unbiased is that? I was in the process of wanting starter locs. I went online and started trying to find people in my area who could provide me with a better understanding, education and personable experience. After a few searches through StyleSeat and Instagram, I found lyric. I felt looking at her profile, Her feature in a magazine, And her call herself a Loctician this would be a great starting point for me. Upon booking my consultation, there were so many rules, Explanations, And questions I had to answer. Now once again, this is my first time experiencing the loc process. She wanted to have a consultation before scheduling an appointment. The consultation was $50. I received numerous reminders about my consultation appointment. The day before I realized I never received a Zoom link or anything about the actual consultation appointment. Upon reaching out to her, her assistant told me it would be through Instagram. I thought this was kind of odd to have a first experience through Instagram video as a professional. This is where the red flag started. But since I was gonna be going through a transition in my life, I didn't have a lot of time to continue looking for more people within my timeframe. So I logged on, and I had a consultation through Instagram. This was my second red flag that I ignored. She barely paid any attention to me. She was doing someone else's hair. She booked me for a 30 minute consultation, which ended after 15 minutes. She barely looked at my head and my hair. She did not give me any feedback or advice on if I should I do coils versus two strand twist. She also told me that post consultation she would send me instructions and aftercare maintenance through an email. To this day I never received it and it is about three months later. Once again, I ignored the red flags because she said she was a Loctician and I trust it in the process of her being a Loctician. When my appointment date finally arrived she was doing someone else's hair and I waited another 10 to 15 minutes before having my appointment. I also thought it was odd that I was booked for a 6 hour appointment for starter locs. Once again, I am new to this, so I wasn't sure how long it normally takes for you to get starter locs. Even when I go to my usual braid appointment, it only took her 3 1/2 hours to give me knotless braids so I thought this was kind of odd that I needed six hours. Upon starting my hair, she asked me if I was still here to get traditional locs. I said yes because I really didn't know if there were any other options. She had not informed me that there were other options. She didn't talk to me about sections or parts. Diamond parts versus square parts were never discussed. Once again, I am very new to having locs, so I trusted her. She gave me a good deep wash. She washed my hair 3 to 4 times which I really appreciate because my hair felt so clean now she isn't the most personable person. Sometimes I feel like getting your hair done There should be some kind of personality or experience in customer service to keep you coming. In the end, I was happy with my hair and paid her for the service. After the appointment, she said she would follow up with me and give me once again an email aftercare maintenance. Before leaving, I asked her when should I wash my hair or if I should wash my hair at all? She replied and said she will be the only person washing my hair for the first year. I really did like the look of my hair and thought she did a great job. It came upon three weeks later that my hair was very oily and flat. I had not done anything to my hair other than spray it with rosemary water after looking up aftercare instructions and talking to other people. I could not deal with the look of how oily my hair looked. Each time I have gone to another Loctician to do my own research and just try different people they all asked me about who did my hair the first time. They all say, whoever started your locs... Did not put a lot of effort into it. The only follow up I've ever received from lyric is for me to join her VIP club. She uses a lot of product and braid gels to start your locs which makes it so oily. Be careful. Don't fall for the hype. One last thing I also noticed a lot of her reviews are by people She personally knows. Which is something I should've picked up on before booking my appointment. If you're going to call yourself a Loctician and loc coach educate other people about coming into the business. Your business practices should be a lot more ethical. I was so excited when I first found this salon. I found this stylist on stlyleseat. To be fair the color came out great but after the color things fall apart. In January I got loc extensions from this salon. This stylist took my money and then told me she could no longer do my hair. For three months I had locs unravel every month go back and pay for repairs. I had to find two other loc stylists and have consultations. I use the video she created on her social media to show them how they were installed. Both said she installed them wrong. I was also told my edges would have thinned out because she laid the pattern too small. I put up comments on her IG and they were removed. After paying a lot of money for her services I think future clients should know about the issues with this stylist and service. Don't waste your money. Now I'm glad she canceled my appointment because I wouldn't have found out she installed them wrong.
